Editing an Adobe scanned document

How can I edit documents after scanning them into Adobe PDF?  I need to add page numbers on the documents but can't get this done.  If PDF is converted to Word the format changes and adding page numbers seem impossible.

If you just have Adobe Reader, you can't edit it.
What Adobe applications do you have?

You would use one of the graphics tools to cover up what you do not want. You have to then use the redax tool to remove what is hidden -- or at least that is my understanding of what you would be doing.
Actually, you would use the "mark for redaction" tool to highlight text or draw boxes around the areas you want to redact. Then you click on "apply redactions". You may then be greeted by a dialog asking if you want to get rid of some back end information related to what you redacted (like metadata, file attachments, bookmarks...etc).
It's very thorough so you'd probably want to run it ion a copy of a file until you get the hang of it.

  • How to enable online editing of Adobe Illustrator document on SharePoint 2010 ?

    Folks,
I have installed SharePoint 2010 and have enabled CMIS (on SharePoint).  Does Adobe products have CMIS enabled as well ? Basically I want to enable online editing of Adobe files (Illustrator) on SharePoint 2010.
Any help or pointers is appreciated.
    Thanks
    Kulo

On SharePoint 2010, there is a Digital Asset Library where I uploaded images. If I upload a MS-Paint aware images such as jpeg, I can click edit on it directly. I can also save it directly into SharePoint.
How do I do the same for *.ai files ?
I am actually trying to figure out how to integrate the various Adobe products (including Illustrator) with SharePoint 2010 to enable our users to view and edit Adobe files.

  • Editing text in scanned document (OCR)

I'm a newbie, and I've tried my hardest to do this without asking for help, but could only get so far.
I have PDFs that are scanned pages of text in boxes. All I want to do is edit some of the text. I'm able to activate OCR so that text is recognizable and selectable, but obviously this isn't enough to actually edit the text. I think a plug-in might help me, but the first one I tried didn't seem to work.
In the end, I got one page done by opening the PDF in Photoshop and covering the old text with a white box and the new text. This is NOT ideal! Also, because this is nice and new, crisp text added with Photoshop, it stands out a bit from the unedited text which is slightly fuzzy because it is a scanned image.
Free is always best, and I'd like to save money, but I can afford buying new software and plug-ins if I must. Is it possible to do what I am trying to do? If so, what version of Acrodbat do I need? If I need any extras, what should I get?
    Thanks in advance.

Editing in this way is not really ideal. Anyway, you needed to do the OCR that created graphics and text. I.E., replaces anything that is recognized by the text and deletes the related image of that part. You would then need to check for the problems (the other step in OCR with Acrobat). Af ter that you may have a pretty good copy, maybe not. You should then be able to edit text, but probably with difficulty. The text boxes and such may not be setup for good editing. You might find it easier at that point to save it as a DOC file and edit in a word processor, even if you have a lot of repair to do. It should still be better than starting from scratch.

  • Editing scanned document with Adobe Pro

Is it possible to edit scanned documents that are saved as pdf files? I know the search or find command do not work on scanned documents. Our office is going paperless but there are times that we need to go back to the original document and make changes instead of reproducing the original, making the changes and then creating a new document

you'd need a good OCR (Optical Character Recognition) application to convert the images to text first.
After that, you'd probably want to export the text to something like a Word document for editing.
Most of the time it's easier just to recreate the document.

  • Editting a scanned document

Hello everyone i am new to this forum.  But i am going crazy trying to figure out how to make changes to the text of a scanned document but not change the background picture.  is this possible with adobe acrobat? if not any suggestions?

Acrobat's OCR methods Formatted Text and Graphics (Acrobat 8) or Clear Scan (Acrobat 9) more readily lend themselves to editing.
With that said it is not always like falling off a log in the river.

  • Scanned document to edit

I just purchased this product to be able to edit a scanned document. I assumed that editing means I can cut and paste portions of the document to a microsoft word document that I am working on. in this case the scanned document is a fax from an internet based fax provider. Please explain to me how I would do this.

Which Adobe Product have you purchased??

  • Scanned documents in Adobe ExportPDF

I want to export a scanned spreadsheet and make it editable. Is it possible?

    Hi, Stacy,
Thanks for your reply.  What I need to know is the following: I tried to convert a pdf file that I received from email into a Word document and it worked ok, however I tried to convert another pdf file that had been scanned into pdf and the spreadsheet in the document came as a non-editable image and I could not work on it. I would like to know how to proceed in order to turn it editable in Word. Is it possible through the Adobe ExportPDF?
    Thanks again and kind regards,

  • Using Adobe convert document to word to edit

I am new to window 8 and dont know who to convert a scanned document or a PDF to be able to edit?

    Hi duke4577,
You can use the ExportPDF online service or Adobe Acrobat to convert a PDF document to Word format. If you choose to use ExportPDF, please see Getting Started with ExportPDF | Adobe Community. If you opt for Acrobat, you choose File > Save as Other > Microsoft Word > Word Document.
    Best,

how do i edit a scanned document in word

That's impossible. Scanned images are pixel data, not editbale text. You'd have to run it through some OCR process first like in Acrobat, but even then it may just end up being a collection of isolated text objects, not easily editable paragraph text....

  • Mac os x 10.7.4 connected to a photosmart c309a. Scan documents to word and edit?

I have a mac os x 10.7.4 connected to a photosmart c309a.  I use the mac drivers to scan document.  Everything is updated and working fine.  However, I would like to scan a document, copy it to word, and edit.  How can I do this?

The OCR software does not necessarily need to integrate with the HP Photosmart driver.  You scan the document, save it as a JPG, TIFF, PDF or whatever and then run the OCR software against the scanned file.
I use Readiris with an HP AIO printer on Lion and it works just fine, using MS Word to edit the results.

  • How do I make a scanned document editable?

Is there an app (or program) already on my Mac that allows me to edit a scanned document, or to scan directly into Pages or Word For Mac?  I don't mind purchasing a program, if necessary, but it seems Mac has lots of functionalities built in... if you know where to find it.

You need OCR (optical character recognition) software.
It's not built in to OS X, so you'll have to search for a solution. There is an abundant selection in the App Store. Here is one and there are many others.
Readiris has been around for a very long time. I used it a while ago, but it's expensive, and there may be better alternatives today.
I have none in particular to recommend, so read the reviews and choose accordingly.
