Editing an old video on a MBP

I have some old TV videos which I am burning to DVD.
Rather than have one entire movie made up of many episodes I want to insert breaks at each episode so that I can get to a particular episode without running through the entire DVD. I tried using iMovie but cannot import the VIDEO_TS file.
How can I do this on my 15" MBP?
TIA

Yes, this is a very easy problem. The most popular tool and software to edit and process excel document is Microsft Excel. Just download any excel versia and install it on your computer or other devices to deal with the target excel file. Or if you want to edit and write the excel file in programatical way, you can refer to a certain excel processing sdk.

  • Create a new video file by editing & clipping old video?......Premiere CS4

    How do I take an existing video file (.wav, .mpeg, etc...) & delete unwanted footage to create a new video file? I currently have some video footage of my family but the sound & video dont play synced togather in Premiere? Any suggestions......?

    The first two concerns are the source footage and then the Project/Sequence Preset.
    What are these? This answer will direct others on how they suggest that you proceed.
    For OOS issues, having your source footage in the proper format will go a long way to solving such issues. For "fixing" OOS, this ARTICLE might be useful.

  • Best RAID option for old video

    I want to create an inexpensive RAID for old video and data. The stuff is very important to me, but I don't need performance, as this is "deep storage." In order to save money, I'm thinking of using 2 500 GB drives and Disk Utility.
    What would be your preferred RAID option and why? Thanks.

    I would say RAID 1 "mirrored".
    Your data would be stored on both disks and if you had a failure with one disk.
    quote from Disk Utility Help:
    +About mirrored RAID sets+
    +To help protect your data against disk failure, you can create a mirrored RAID set, also called RAID 1. In a mirrored RAID set, your data is written to two or more disks at once. If one of the disks fails or is disconnected, your computer can still access the data from the other disks. If you reconnect a disk you disconnected, the RAID set can rebuild it in the background so that it contains the latest data.+
    +You can add spare disks to the set, called hot spares, that aren’t written to unless another disk fails or is disconnected. The RAID set then rebuilds one of the hot spares. If you reconnect a disk after the RAID replaces it with a hot spare, the reconnected disk is treated as a hot spare.+
    +You can choose to have the RAID set rebuild a reconnected spare disk automatically. Otherwise, you must rebuild it yourself.+
    +You still need to back up your data regularly, even though you have a mirrored RAID set. Mirroring protects you from some types of hardware failure, but not from user errors or software corruption. If you delete a file, it’s deleted from the mirror as well. If software corrupts a file, it’s also corrupted on the mirror.+

  • IMovie 09 not accepting old videos - PLEASE HELP!

    I also had the issue with iMovie 08. Old videos that I had on an older external hard drive, shot by a Samsung SCX105L MPEG4 camcorder (remember, the little blue one with rubberized sides) as well as with a Motorola Razr, are not being recognized by iMovie. I've tried HandBrake and, though it converts, still won't move to the editor in iMovie. Any new videos that I import from my Canon PowerShot work just fine. PLEASE, I really need help bringing these older files (MPEG4, AVI, etc.) into iMovie so that I can edit them and make my home movies of the kids.
    Thanks to all in advance for any help you can give.
    Eric ([email protected])

    Almost a year of frustration and feeling defeated has finally come to an end. *Thank you so very much Sheryl and Jigbobby for your guidance*. To all else needing to convert files so that iMovie 09 will accept them to be edited, here you go:
    -I used MPEG Streamclip to convert MPEG4 files. I saved them directly onto the desktop after first converting to QuickTime Movie (see Sheryl's notes at top).
    -I used HandBrake to convert AVI files to mp4 files (saving the converted file onto the desktop). I then opened my new favorite, Streamclip, and imported the now converted mp4 file (also saving it to the desktop).
    -Once one of those lines was complete, I was able to Import a Movie file (see Jigbobby's note above). It only took a couple of minutes, but the file wound up in the iMovie edit box to be edited.
    I can't believe how relieved I am! Thanks again for your help! If anyone wants a rundown in more detail of what I did to help you out, feel free to email me ([email protected]). ~Eric

  • Can I move old video footage from Disk Utility to an external hard drive, to free up space?

    I have a lot of old videos of my students located on Disk Utility.
    I need to free up memory, so am wondering if I can move these videos to an external hard drive.
    From time to time, I need to access these old videos, either to show to a new choreographer or to pull out  a clip for a grant proposal, so I don't want to totally lose access to them.
    Thanks so very much!!!

    What's the file extension of the DVD in question located in Disk Utility? That's why I was asking for a screenshot. Is that .cdr? Can you do a File>Save As? If it's .cdr can you try dragging it to the external. Doesn't have to go to Disk Utility. Can just be to a folder there. As you drag it does it show with a + inside a green circle? That will mean it's copying it, but leaving the original in place. If it can be moved successfully, you can then remove the original from Disk Utility.
    Or just copy (drag) it to your Desktop, then move it over to a folder on the external.

  • Downloading VHS videos to my MBP through my camcorder

    Is it possible to download my old VHS videos to my MBP using my old camcorder and a usb cable. If not, what type of Hardware/Software is required and is the software I might need already loaded on my MBP. I would like to convert all of my old VHS tapes to disc using my MBP.
    Please be patient with me, I have converted to the MAC OS just this week. I've been a Windows user forever and decided to make the switch to the MAC OS after multiple viruses, crashes and freeze-ups on my old windows system, I simply had enough. ?

  • Editing imported SD videos on iPad Air

    Hello there,
    I am new to the iPad Air and had the idea of transferring videos from an old camera via SD card reader, but wanted to find some way of editing the videos. I rely on YouTube capture for editing and uploading my videos onto YouTube. But for some odd reason I don't have the choice to edit my imported videos but can edit my ios videos, found this slightly frustrating... If there's any way possible to edit my imported videos on an iPad I would highly appreciate some spare assistance.
    SIncerely, Henry David Tetreault

    I don't have any to recommend, but look for third party video editing apps.
    Just search the app store for 'video editing' and then read the reviews to see which ones look good. SInce I doubt any are free, read the reviews, even google the app to see what others are saying about it (the blurb in iTunes, not surprisingly, always focuses on the good and ideal situations, which may not reflect the reality of using the app)

  • How to import and edit a 3D video made with Sony HDR-TD10E camcorder, with .MVC file?

    How to import and edit a 3D video made with Sony HDR-TD10E camcorder, with .MVC file?
    I have PremierePro-CS5 installed.
    This stereo 3D camcorder (Sony HDR-TD10E), output an .MVC (MultiViewCoding) file, coded in H.264 format.
    This format is already compatible with Bluray3D stereoscopic format.
    1) But, how to edit the .MVC in Premiere?
    2) What plugin should I use (if exists) for PremiereProCS5?
    3) Cineform Neo3D, can manage the .MVC format? Can convert it to Cineform format file, for import it into Premiere?
    4) What software should I use to convert an .MVC video to an AVCHD H.264 file, and import it into PremierePro CS5 or CS5.5 for editing?
    Thanks!
    Horsepower0171.

    Sorry, I am Italian, it is very difficult for me to understand what he says!
    I can just read the english text, or follow the actions of a videotutorial!
    Thus my question is the same:
    -What software can do that?
    -Sony Vegas 10 do the Bluray3D authoring?
    -For MVC editing, should I wait for Adobe CS6? Or is it planned an update for CS5.5?

    After Creating a new document or editing an old document in Pages on my iPad I no longer see the changes in Pages on my iPhone. iCloud services are on with both devices.

    Just thought I'd add my solution, I decided to go with WebDAV and I think it actually works better than the iTunes way, the steps are pretty much the same but avoiding the iTunes interface just makes things easier and faster.
    I followed this guide but it does have a small mistake in the httpd-dav.conf file, on line 2, where it's WebServer/WebDAV">, it should be <Directory "/Library/WebServer/WebDAV">.
    The tricky part is setting permissions which if wrong will give you errors when connecting with the iPad, I opted to set all to Read&Write since my home network has a hardware firewall. Another convenience was to add an alias to the webdav share on the Desktop.
    I'm still expecting the call from Apple but even if they fix the iTunes I'm sticking with WebDAV, atleast until I see what's new with iOS5 and iCloud this fall which should bring true sync for documents (I'm hoping that they will offer encryption with my own keys, if not, then I'll probably keep using WebDAV).

    I keep getting the message "macintosh hd disc full" when I try to edit or import video.  How can I make room?

    You can go to Applications, Utilities, Activiy Monitor to see just how much space is available.  To free space you need to remove files that take a lot of space, things like videos, photos, music.  Get an external hard drive, OWC http://www.macsales.com has a good selection, and move material off the internal drive.

  • Programmatically playing the "next" video in a playlist results in the old video playing as well

    (Using OSMF v1.6)
    When a video has finished playing, my player will automatically play the next video in a playlist, after doing the following:
    var loadTrait:LoadTrait = myMediaElement.getTrait(MediaTraitType.LOAD) as LoadTrait;
    loadTrait.unload();
    myMediaContainer.removeMediaElement(myMediaElement);
    myMediaPlayer.media = null;
    --- proceeds to create the new mediaElement (ex: myNewMediaElement) with appropriate metadata, etc
    myMediaContainer.addMediaElement(myNewMediaElement);
    myMediaPlayer.media = myNewMediaElement;
    Invariably this has resulted in the new video playing normally, but the *old* video also playing, I assume as an element/player/container behind the new one. So you get two simultaneous audio streams.
    Executing the same sequence of commands with a user interaction (i.e. clicking a "next" button to play the next video) does not display this behavior.
    I have done some searching and I cannot find anything else to try; does anyone have any ideas?
    Thanks!

  • I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync.  They work fine when played in Quicktime.

    Hello,
    I am trying to edit a .mov video in Premiere Elements 12, but the video and audio do not sync as soon as I load it into the program.  It appears to work fine in Quicktime.
    Thanks in advance.

    Thanks for the reply. This is the plan.
    Open Premiere Elements 12/12.1 to the Expert workspace.
    In the Expert workspace, go to File Menu/New/Project and Change Settings.
    In the Change Settings area, select the project preset
    NTSC
    AVCHD
    AVCHD LITE 720p30
    OK out of there. In the New Project dialog that appears, note that it has your new project preset named.
    Be sure to put a check mark next to "Force Selected Project Setting on This Project". And, then OK out of there.
    Back in the Premiere Elements 12 Expert workspace, use Add Media/Files and Folders to bring your video
    into Project Assets. From Project Assets drag your video to the Timeline Video Track 1/Audio Track 1.
    Is there an orange line over the content in the Timeline. See screenshot for orange line to which I am referring.
    There should be no colored line over the content if the project preset matches the video properties. But, if you do see
    that orange line, then render the Timeline content by pressing the Enter key of the computer main keyboard or press
    the Render button above the Timeline.
    Do your video/audio now play back in the Edit area monitor in sync?
    Please let us know the result, and then we will decide what next.
    Thanks.

  • Why do old video snapshots occur instead of the photo i have took when i take a photo on my Ipad2?

    Basically, whenever i take a picture or a screen shot, the photo turns into an old video snapshot or an old image. The photo is correct in the thumbnail, but when i open it up to full screen, it changes. Help, please!

    Hi,
    Are you using Windows Explorer to view the files?
    If so, load Explorer, go to the Tools menu and select Folder Options.
    Click on the View tab and make sure the first option (Always show icons, never thumbnails) is not checked.
    Click on OK and see if that is any better.

  • Old videos into imovie

    I have DVDxdv to rip anything that is already on a DVD. I have a new Panasonic DVD recorder (no hard drive) and a new Canon ZR800Mini DV camera. In reading both manuals, I figured I could record the VHS onto the mini DV then plug mini DV into MacBook and get it into imovie. I have done that before and able to import from the camera into imovie just fine. I had everything rigged according to the manuals, but the Canon would not pick up anything from the Panasonic (I am using 4pin to 4 pin cable as the Canon manual shows that the A/V terminal is OUT only and said that is the way to do what I am trying to do). So when that didn't work, I thought can't I just connect the firewire cable I use from the Canon to the Mac when I grab video, and plug it into the DVD recorder instead? I tried that, the Mac did not detect the recorder either the way it does when the camera is plugged into it. I then used a DVD-RAM disk supplied by Panasonic (so I can reuse it as I have a lot of old videos to transfer) and copied the VHS to it, it copied fine, but MAC doesn't recognize the disk and I understand for $50 I can download software that will read it. Before I do that, and go thru all these steps, am I missing something? I even took the recorded DVD-RAM and played it on the Panasonic with the 4pin to 4pin to my mini DV camera, thinking it might have been it wouldn't work with analog videos, and the Canon still wasn't getting it. What is the easiest way without losing clarity on the videos to get these into my Macbook Pro and imovie? Thank you.

    OK, so then you put the VHS tape into the converter itself? Or does the converter have to be hooked up to the VCR on one end and the computer on the other? So it would have to connect to the OUT terminals on the VCR? That means I have to plug it into the back, a drag as I have to pull everything out to get to that. Does it work with imovie? What controls the transfer? Do you bring in video with imovie? Will it let imovie control the download? So I can pause and select what I want from the tape instead of having to drag the whole tape into imovie? I need to know more how it works before I will consider as it is expensive and I want to make sure it will do what I need and the way I want it to for that amount of money. THank you.

  • I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those clips in Organizer.  I can do that in Premiere Elements 12 and save them as "Projects" - but how do I get the divided clips back into Organizer?

    I have old video clips in Photoshop Elements Organizer v12 for Mac.  I want to divide some of those single clips into 2 or 3 separate clips, each shown separately in Organizer.  I can divide the clips in Premiere Elements Editor 12 and save them as "Projects" - but I can't find any way to get those divided clips back into Organizer.  Does anyone know whether that can be done?  Many thanks for your thoughts.

    What about Google Drive? And just share the folder with the family members.
