Editing and Deleting email addresses

I am working my way through 8.1 and cannot for the life of me find a way to delete or edit email addressses in my "people" or "contacts" list. My providor is Sky, I am not a computer wiz kid just and 68 year old end user with computer experience and would be most grateful for any assistance.
When I go into the "peoples" address book (orange screen) their does not appear to be any delete or edit option or link at all, HEEEEELP.

Go to that contact in your Contacts app and then tap the Edit button in the upper right and edit it.
Make sure that in Settings>iCloud Contacts is turned ON.

You can't delete an Apple ID or an iCloud account. Just stop using it and create a new one. If you want to make your ID the same as your new @icloud.com address please see this post:

Otherwise create an ID at http://appleid.apple.com using a non-Apple email address and then use the ID to create a new iCloud account. I would personally recommend the second option: if you take the first you must make sure to add a non-Apple contact address because otherwise if there is a problem (such as forgetting your password) Apple can only contact you at an address you can't access.
Note that you can't transfer iTunes Store purchases from one account to another. Also depending on your requirements you may only need to create an 'email alias' which is an additional address (not account) - please see

I chged my internet provider and new email address and cloud is not recognizing this chg. i deleted my old email acct from ipad and added new acct and since then i cannot send email nor the cloud will recognize the new email address. do i need to sync

You can create an alias @icloud.com email address within your current account that will receive email in your current iCloud inbox (see http://help.apple.com/icloud/#/mm6b1a490a). (@me.com addresses are no longer available as new addresses.) Just be aware that you cannot use an alias address later to create a new iCloud account or move it to a different account.
Also, even if you created a new iCloud account with a new ID, your existing purchases would not be lost. They are permanently tied to the original ID you used to purchase them. You can also continue to use the existing ID for the iTunes store; it does not need to be the same as the ID you use for iCloud.

Deleting .mac and .me email address, iCloud

I'd like to delete my .mac and .me email address. I frankly don't use them enough and am happy with my other email services. I remember this was available on the mobile me site. I'd also like to delete my iCloud account. How do I accomplish these task?

I want to stop using my hotmail account (which is also my Apple ID) and migrate to my icloud address for all my email.
Why cant I use my icloud mail address as my Apple ID?
Seems strange to be forced to use a hotmail address instead.

Apple ID and Primary Email Address are locked and cannot be edited... I accidentally clicked "make my apple ID and Primary Email address one" and now I cannot edit it. I don't use my @mac account and am not receiving any notifications. How can I change my primary email address back to an address I actually check?

Found a solution...
• Go to your country's Apple Store website http://store.apple.com/
• Click on the Account button in the top-right corner
• Under Account Settings, click on Change your default shipping or billing info
• Sign in with your usual Apple ID and password
• The email address listed under Payment Information is the key
• Click on Edit next to Payment Information and change that email address to your preferred address
This worked for me!

The "edit" button does not pop up next to my Apple ID and Primary Email Address. I want to change my address because its an old @mac.com address and I want to update it with my @gmail.com. I'm guessing this is an apple support question, but I would like to just get it fixed.

It seems that for SOME folks it takes contact with a live person at Apple - can't explain why though. One person replied that after contacting Apple, they were instructed to email [email protected] with old and new. I never heard back if that was successful or not - just that the email was instructed.

Email addresses that are not in your Contacts app but which still show up in Mail will disappear after a period of time when they are unused. Just ignore them and they will eventually go away.

I set the Rules months ago to automatically put all email sent to those email addresses in TRASH. However, they still appear in my Mail Trash on my Mac. Just an annoyance. Thanks for the response.

Yes, just open mail and click on the window menu and select previous recipients, when the window opens start edit your email addresses.

Press and hold over the text you want to cut. After around 2 seconds a magnifying glass appears.
Click select and some text will be highlighted in blue.
Drag the blue bars at the beginning and end of the selection to include all the text you want to remove.

I'm trying to update my apps but itunes is defaulting to an old deleted email address, how can I change it?

I'm trying to update my apps on my ipad, but when I go to updates itunes has suddenly defaulted to an old deleted email address, how can I fix this? When I go into settings on my ipad the email address is correct, it's just itunes thats causing a problem. Can someone please help, I cant access the deleted email address and when I try to answer the security questions Apple is telling me that I have entered the incorrect date of birth.....I haven't forgotten my date of birth.... this is so frustrating. What can I do?????

Is it a different account e.g. did you update your account with a new email address or did you create a new account ? If you updated your existing account then try logging out of the account by tapping on the id at the bottom of the Featured tab in the App Store app and then log back in and see if the updated id then shows in the Purchased tab.
If you created a new account then all apps (and any other content) downloaded by the old account will remain tied to the old account, and only that old account can download updates to its apps (and/or redownload its purchases). If you can't remember its password, and can't get the security questions reset (you don't have a rescue email address on the account ?), then you have need to contact Support in your country to get the questions and password reset.
