Editing Animation Slides

I just recorded my first movie in Captivate 3.  Due to PII standards, I need to edit the screenshots captured so real customer and employee information is not shown.  Can this be done and if so, how do I get the images captured to copy so I can transfer them to an editing program such as Photoshop or Paint?

Hi there
It depends on how you captured the data.
Often there is no need to edit in a third party application. If you captured using the normal screen-by-screen capture, you can insert a Highlight Box object, cover the information and merge it into the background to obliterate the information. Then layer in a Transparent Text Caption to provide fictitious information if you like.

JJMack covers some possibilities, predicated on the embedded player in your Web site.
You might want to look at another pair of Adobe programs, that work well together: Adobe Premiere Elements and Photoshop Elements. They are available in a bundle, and, if you do not have Photoshop Extended (up through CS 5.5), or Ps CS 6, or Ps CC, they cost MUCH less.
One can create the SlideShow in the Organizer (sort of like Bridge, but with some differences), then can Send to Premiere Elements for final editing, such as the addition of Narration, or a Soundtrack. From PrE, one can then output to many, many different formats for linking to the player on the Web site.
Now, if you have Ps Extended, Ps CS 6, or Ps CC already, you have video-editing capabilities, but some of the output options (and even Import options), will be limited.
If searching for a program (or bundle of programs), then the Elements duo will do exactly what you need. Also, both of those programs have their own, very active forums, so you will have two communities to offer you support.
    Good luck,

No, only regular static GIF images are supported. The desktop version of Photoshop does support this however.

  • Personalized Template, can't edit added slides, only edit master slide

    Hello Keynote Geeks!
I am counting on your expertise to help me with this challenge.
    This is what happened:
    1) I had a design company to create a personalized presentation template for my production company.
    2) Whenever I try to use this template Keynote keeps insisting on only allowing me to edit master slides. Even after I added them to the presentation. This creates a dumb workflow in which I have to be duplicating master slides, editing them in the edit master slide menu and then adding them back to my presentation.
I recorded a 2 minutes screen flow video demonstrating the issue. Please watch it on this Vimeo link:
    https://vimeo.com/124934712
I will be incredibly thankful to anyone that gives me a smart solution to optimize our presentation edit workflow.
    Cheers from Brazil,
    JP Jacobsen

A "geek" means a clumsy fool, I would never call anyone this.
You are not using the correct method to edit items on a slide. Double clicking an object on a slide that is on the slide master allows editing the master object, it does not allow editing the object on the slide.
    The correct procedure is:
add a new silide based on a slide master of your choise
to add a photo to the slide;   use a Finder window to drag and drop a file onto the image place holder
to add new text to a slide; click on the text placeholder once, then type in the new text
This assumes the master slide was created correctly by using media and text Placeholders.
To add a text placeholder to a master slide: add a text box to the master then change the font, size and colour
select the text box then:     Format > Advanced > Define as text placeholder
To add a Media Placeholder to a master slide: drag and drop any image file of the correct format (vertical or horizontal) on to the master
select the photo then:     Format > Advanced > Define as Media placeholder
close the master slide by clicking the blue Done button bottom right

  • Simple way to use the Photo Gallery Module and flexslider to create an editable image slider?

I want to offer an image slider that my clients can easily update themselves through the Admin. Ive researched it alot and I know it can be done using web apps but does my cliently seriously need to pay over $400 a year for the webcommerce option just to have an updatable image slider?? I find that unrealistic. Does anyone know how to set this up using the photo gallery module and "flexslider" so clients on the business marketing plan can have access to a simple and clean editable image slider?
Any BC experts that can help would be greatly appreicated!
    Thankyou

Not an expert, but I think what you're looking for is a slider that can get its list of photos from an XML file.  The Photo Gallery module can produce an XML file.

  • Animation slides skip content in published flash

    Dear helpers and experts,
I may be new to Captivate, but have worked with all its
    predecessors...
My simple demonstration consists of 6 slides:
    a text slide;
    an animation slide built from an avi file (123 sec);
    a text slide;
    an animation slide built from an avi file (23 sec);
    a text slide;
an animation slide built from an avi file (165 sec)
When previewing all content is shown. Then I publish (export
HTML). The viewed flash skips the end of all animation slides: from
the first only 107 sec are displayed, from the second only 10
seconds, from the third only 110 seconds are displayed.
To be precise on the previw: it is the Play button on the
timeline where everything is played - not "Play this Slide" in the
Preview button - which creates a temporary flash file.
With uncompressed Flash it's the same problem.
    What went wrong here?

I have now found the source of my problem:
There is a difference whether I insert via
    1) Insert > Slide > Animated Slide - or
    2) Insert > Blank Slide; and then in the blank slide:
    Insert > Animation
In case 2 I get the dialog "New Animation" where I can set
options. In case 1 this dialog does not show up and with Slide
Properties the desired option can not be set.
The desired option to cure the problem is "Synchronize with
    Project".
The Help text concerning this option "Select this option to
synchronize the speed at which the animation file plays with the
Timeline speed. (If you find that the animation file is not playing
smoothly, test with this option selected and cleared to see which
setting gives you better results.)" did not trigger my brain at
first, because when playing the animation (imported avi) in the
TImeline it is displayed correctly with or without this option.
Hence: if the final flash file skips the end of imported
animations (eg avi) and jumps to early to the next slide:
    - Import the animation into a blank slide (do not import via
Insert > Slide > Animated Slide)
    - Set the option "Synchronize with project" in the "New
    Animation" dialog

    Hello,
Flash Player is only supported on Apple OS X systems (10.6 - 10.10).  It is not, and has never been, supported on any i-Devices.  There are no plans to support these platforms.

  • Editing a slide DURING presentation

    Hello,
I am wondering whether editing a slide while presenting it on the second monitor is possible.
This would be great for brainstorming ideas (eg. fill a table with ideas on several issues, according to the audience's feedback).
I tired several times, but it didn't work. Sure Live Quartz technology is powerful enough to do so... so is this feature available ? Is it planned ?

No, you can't edit a slide while it's being displayed, but there are applications that allow you to draw over the slide (those drawings can't be saved in any way other than a screenshot, though*). I think it can be done, but Keynote is more of a straightforward presentation tool than a brainstorming app, so I wouldn't imagine that this is on the list of "things to do".
But, you can always send feedback to Apple
    http://www.apple.com/feedback/keynote.html
*speaking of screenshot, if you change the format of the file being captured to PDF, would that separate the image into layers allowing you to see the foreground images OVER the background or is it all flattened into a bitmap?

  • Extending an animated slide's length

We have several lessons with some animated slides (full
    motion captures
    of scrolling application windows).
The client decided that the scrolling is too fast and wanted
    it slowed
down. Unfortunately, simply extending the animation on the
    timeline
doesn't seem to have any effect - the animation plays at its
    original
rate, then just sticks on the last frame of that animation
    for the
    duration of the slide.
So our workaround is to export the animation itself to Flash,
    adjust the
framerate, publish as a SWF, and import it back into the CP
    file. The
result is a little 'jumpy' but seems to work well enough.
Any other solutions to this particular issue? Just wondering
    if there
are other approaches. If not, then just adding this for
    future reference.

I actually have a lot of other buttons that manipulate the displaying of the array in various ways. I thought about creating a much larger array, but this would break all the functionality I have for displaying next, previous, last, items in the array. Then your functionality is incorrect. You should have a variable that keeps track of how many items are stored in the array. This will always allow you to access the last element. And when this variable reaches the size of the array only then do you increase the size of the array.
I agree, I think this is exactly my issue, unfortunately I do not know where to go from here. Is there a way for me to recreate the Item array entirely, rather than having a local array to the addbutton action method?I already showed you how to fix your problem. Delete your line of code and replace it with mine.

  • Editing the slide background

I have captured an online software demo. After doing so, the
company in which I captured this for has been bought. So here's the
    challenge.
Instead of re-capturing the entire process, I was easily able
to simply copy the background slide, put it into photoshop, adjust
the colors (only thing that changed with the new branding) and
paste back in as a new slide background. Tedious, yes...but would
take much less time than recapturing...editing for pace and voice
    over.
That worked perfectly except for the slides where there is
typing or a mouse click. It appears that Captivate also catpures
horizontal bitmaps for those actions, which show the 'old' colors.
You can't see these items on the timeline in Captivate, although I
know they exist because I have imprted into flash and seen the
    elements.
Does anyone know how to disable these items or edit them so
that I can make it consistent with the color changes?
    Thanks in advance.

Hi chrisbk and welcome to our community
    aaasdf
For the slides where you have captured typing, have you tried
right clicking the typing layer and DE-selecting the "Show Typing"
element? Maybe that will work. Same with the mouse. Try turning it
    off and see what happens.
Here is where I'm going to implore everyone reading this
thread to stop for a moment and flood Adobe with a suggestion. When
you record a movie and have elected to include recording the
typing, you are adding a typing layer to your slide. If you should
make a typo, then backspace over the typo to correct it, guess what
happens? You have no easy way to edit this out. If it's important
to not include the typo, you must re-record that slide. So here is
    where you come in.
    Currently, Captivate offers us
88 different types of animated text! 88! Think about all the
programming effort it takes to create all 88 of those effects. We
have text swooping in from any direction, all kinds of different
fades, fish nibbling the letters away. Wow. Amazing! Now look at
this list of 88 effects and see what is
extremely useful but woefully missing! An animation of
simple typing text. Geez, how long would it take a developer to do
that? 5 minutes? I mean, for all the coding it takes to give us
fish nibbling away at letters, it really should be a very simple
thing for the developer to do.
So, if you feel so inclined (and I really hope many of you
do) take 5 minutes of your day and submit an enhancement request
asking for a simple typing text animation. If we had this, there
would be no need to re-record slides where we made a typo. We could
actually forego recording that piece at all, then add it later via
    a typing text animation.

  • Open and edit animated .gif while preserving frame timing

CS4 Premium Design Edition, Win XP
I was disappointed with the removal of Image Ready from CS3 because although some of the functionality was placed into Photoshop 10, there was no way to open and edit an existing animated .gif while preserving the timing of each individual frame. I was told on the PS forum at the time that I really needed to use Fireworks. I resented that, because I was very happy with Image Ready and I didn't want to have to learn a new application just to gain functionality that had been included in previous versions of PS/IM.
I've now got CS4 Premium Design Edition which of course includs Fireworks... and here's what Help has to say on the subject of imported .gifs.
"Note: When you import an animated GIF, the state delay setting defaults to 0.07 seconds. If necessary, use the States panel to restore the original timing."
This is no use to me. What if I don't know the individual frame timings? What if there are 200 frames with varying timings?
Simple question: which current Adobe product is capable of importing a .gif while retaining the frame timings? If anyone knows, or if I've misunderstood the nature of the Fireworks Help quote above, I'd really appreciate some input here. Thanks :)
Not so simple question: why was an excellent gif-editing application thrown out to have its functionality partially replaced by a bunch of scripts and half-effective workarounds cooked up by desperate users ("import a gif by using the video import and typing *.* into the filename box..")? It's a fair question I think.
    Mark

Hi Bob, that's not glib at all, it's a reasonable question.
I uninstalled it along with everything else when I installed CS3, in the reasonable expectation that whatever replaced IR would be at least equal in functionality.
Perhaps I should just dig out CS2 and install IM from there, but I have some serious reservations about doing so, because I don't know if/how a partial install of CS2 will impact upon my installation of CS4, and I'm not confident of getting support.
I am also curious to know if/why Adobe actually removed basic functionality without replicating or replacing it in their other software. I really want to know: which recent, currently supported Adobe product
should I be using in order to regain this functionality? Or do Adobe no longer produce a geniuinely comprehensive .gif-editing application?

  • Edit animated gif

    Hi,
How can I edit an animated gif in Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac?

I can only drag the single frames to the desktop (as TIFF files, I guess transparency info is lost then?).

  • Editing animated gif

I made an animated gif in CS4. I have to make some changes, I tried editing it in CS3. It woould be easier to start from scratch, but when I deleted the animation and clicked on a layer, all I see is the bottom layer no matter what layer I click on. How do I get my layered photoshop file back?

    Hi,
What version of Ps do you have and what platform are you using? Are you working with video content for the layer changes, or do you have a still that you're manupulating?

  • How can I make a slideshow of animated slides in Edge?

I've watched Paul Trani's great tutorial on making an interactive slideshow of images in which people can click through the images (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=teYOHY5bGyk) and I've made a nice slideshow.
But I now want to make a slideshow just like that but use animated Edge compositions instead of JPEGs or PNGs for the slides that will play when that slide appears . . . does anyone know how to do this?
Thank you so much for your help!

Erin, most of Pauls tutorial demonstrations ave source files available for download.

  • Non editable text slides in iPhoto 11? (v9.4.2)

I can't seem to add second or subsequent text slides to an iPhoto slideshow. It's not that the button doesn't work. It creates the slide in the correct sequence location however I'm unable to edit the text from the default 'Subtitle Text Here' - Is this a bug?

Yes, I can select all of the text or just a portion of it. When I highlight the text and then start typing to edit ithe text then nothing happens.
I've tried changing the font, the normal copy past shortcuts, reducing the number of slides (thinking it was a memory issue), duplicating the slide (which only duplicates the background image).
Rather than waste too much time a simple work around was to simply create new 'text' slides in Photoshop and to have these appear in the slide show.
I think it must be a bug however as one of the things I just tested resolves the problem. If I disconnect the secondary Apple Thunderbolt Display and then edit the text slide viewing it on the 15-inch built in screen of the MacBookPro it works as designed. I think it's possibly related to Thunderbolt (but not related to the Apple Extended USB keyboard which is plugged into the Thunderbolt display since using the keyboard on the Mac didn't work either).
    Thanks for the help.
