Editing audio, Fade Out Problems!

Hi I've imported an mp3 into iMovie to run alongside a movie. How do I remove the fade out all together so that it runs the whole track? I don't want to fade the track out, have already gone into audio editing panel. Any ideas?

citybloc,
I have not done any audio editing in iMovie 08, only in iMovie HD. In the 08 application I made my audio edits in GarageBand. You have pretty good control of it there.

  • Audio fade out not working

I've imported clips from my camera to iMovie HD 6 and created a 2 minute "movie." I imported a song from iTunes but want it to fade out before the movie ends. I've followed the instructions and dragged the volume bar down where I'd like the fade out to happen but nothing changes. I've also extracted audio from the clips I'd like to play without music but nothing changes. The audio also plays past the end of the last clip. I also followed the instructions to delete the audio from selected clips by placing the cursor in the audio bar and waiting for it cursor to change form into that t-bar shape but it doesn't happen. I've closed out and re-opened the project more than once. Following the instructions was easy but there are simply no results. What am I missing? Thanks!

    Hey, catspaw!
You remembered! My family history project now is complete from 1979-2008, with 2009 being compiled on an ongoing basis as I get the photos and videos.
I have nearly all the old photos scanned into iPhoto for both my husband's and my side of our family. There are only a couple of videos of our parents talking about their childhoods or some specific childhood memories, and one of my father-in-law telling of his days in the Navy in WW II, when he was one of the first Americans to go into Nagasaki.
I had all the photos scanned in already, but when the drive failed several months ago, I apparently lost a few of the photos. So my fil will need to lend his to me again. I also have some baby photos that my parents insisted they did not have, but they did, so I will be getting them next week.
Then, I have about 2000 slides that I'd like to put into this collection. It is easy to scan them, and I have already done about 400, but the ones from a couple of trips are just going to take too much time, so I found a local photo place that will scan them for me and put them onto a CD.....and they charge less than anyone else I have found. The draw for me is that they do it locally so I do not have to worry about the original slides getting lost. I am planning to take the slides in tomorrow or Monday. I think it will take them about a week or so.
I have 4 iMovies in progress for the 'old' photos. After I get all of them finished, I think I will upgrade to Leopard and install iLife 09 and begin to play around with iMovie 9. The big concern for me is that it does not allow exporting back to camcorder. I really like to do that with my edited movies so that I have a nice digital tape of the finished movie. Since I now will have to do only one family movie/photo project per year, I will have time to make little creative movies for the grandkids. I may even take some classes.
I have also thought about using Final Cut. I have FCE, not Pro, probably enough for my purposes. Ihave used it a couple of times for short movies. It has quite a learning curve, and it is not so helpful as iMovie since nothing is preset. Of course, it gives one great flexibility. I think that doing a few movies will give me experience enough to consider making the switch for the family movies, and maybe using iM9 for the short ones.
I have been following with interest the posts regarding getting the best quality from iM9 when putting it into DVD, and I have been learning a lot. Very thankful for these discussions.
Also, my camcorder is getting older and I am considering getting an HD camcorder; still have to think about whether I want to continue with tapes or not.....
I know that FCE and FCP take footage in DV format, so the DV tapes would be easy.
    What do you think?
Return greetings from here....we are going to see some friends next weekend who have lived in the US for many years, but are from Adelaide!

  • Audio Fad Out not working ??

    Dear all,
I've been working on a nice project for a while, and now for some reason, when I select an audio track and the audio button to get the advanced audio features, even though the "fad out" option is selected and manually increased to 2s, this has absolutely no effect while viewing the video. The audio track just doesn't have any fad out.
The tricky thing is that it works for some of them at the beginning of my project (the first 10min), but not for the others....
    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    I'm using imovie 7.1.2.

My project is plenty of "adjacent" sounds, it's a slideshow with some musics coming from itunes.
I tried what you suggested, ie put some clips in between without any fade options but it does not make any difference.
On thing I have noticed, before rendering the project, I have a warning message saying that an event called "unknown album" was not found and would be replace by some black pictures.
What does it mean? There is of course (would be too easy...) no black pictures while playing the final movie. Could be linked right?
    Any idea?

  • IMovie 9.0.2 - audio fade out doesn't work

Has anyone found any working solution to "fade out" not working? Before movie rendering all is OK, but in rendered movies there's no audo "fade out" - the audio just stops.
    Frustraiting!

Premiere Elements 9 on Windows 7 64 bit (are you working from the 9.0.1 Update?)
Are you referring to the fade in fade out video audio shortcuts?
How are you doing what you refer to as "Complex Fades Work"?
I am not aware of any hardware acceleration control in any Premiere Elements options related
    to Fades issues.
Please review the following related to the Fades shortcuts and see if any of it applies to your
    situation.

Is your issue specific to one particular project? Is this a "it worked before but not now" or "it never
worked before" type matter? Pending further details, we might consider deleting the Adobe
Premiere Elements Prefs file or, if necessary, the whole 9.0 Folder in which it exists.
But, we will await further details from you before deciding what next.
    Thank you.

  • 13" Macbook Pro (mid-2011) audio in/out problem in Bootcamp Windows 7 64-bit

    Hello,
I have a 13" MacBook Pro (mid-2011) and when in Windows 7 (64-bit) there is no way to configure the single combination audio in/out port to be an input. It is by default assigned to be an audio output and it cannot be configured otherwise in the Sound manager in Control Panel. In OSX the port is configurable. The audio driver is Cirrus 4206A (AB28), dated 12/3/2010, version 6.6001.1.30.

I forgot to add that I installed the Bootcamp drivers from the OSX disc after I installed Windows 7 as instructed

  • Audio fades out automatically after 15 minutes although not muted

    Hi
While listening to iTunes, the music fades out automatically after 12-15 minutes, also system sounds won't play anymore. All settings are set correctly (internal speakers, volume), the iMac is not muted.
After some time switch off or in sleep mode, it plays the sounds again, but after 12-15min, it's quiet again.
    Any idea ?
    Thanks
    Eric

It was bought online through a third party retailer, so its not exactly as convenient as driving to the store. I'd rather exhaust my options before having to send it back.

  • Fade out problems

I added a fade out to a slide by going into the timeline view, and double clicking on the "Captured Animation" track, and then selecting fade out on the options tab.
When I preview it in the timeline, it looks fine.
However, when I export it, I can see the marking from when I must have moved the mouse, as it fades out. -it is very choppy.
Is there any way to make a clean fade out on a slide?
    Thanks!!

    Hi there
You might layer in a Highlight Box that is configured to "Fade in only". It would then gradually fade in and eventually obscure what it covers. You would configure it for 0% transparency.
    Cheers... Rick

  • Sound fade out problems

    Dear Motion Users,
I am creating a short animation and brought in a sond clip that I keyframed to fade out. It works fine in Motion, but when exported as a Quicktime .mov file the sound doesn't fade and stops abruptly when the clip ends.
    I am using motion 2, on a G5 with 2.5GB RAM and 800GB raid.
    Any thoughts?
I have tried bot of my partitions one has Panther the other has Tiger, to no avail
    G5 dual 2Ghz   Mac OS X (10.3.9)

Anybody have any idea as to when there might be a fix to this? I've been writing all these loops for network bumpers that I have created in Motion and it's kind of silly that a simple fade out function in Motion doesn't work. For now I am doing it directly in Logic, but it certainly would be nice if the function in Motion actually functioned.

  • Audio In/Out problems

    Hey
First thing is - Can I use a regular microphone from a headset in the Audio - IN port on the MacBook?
Secondly - The headphone port is REALLY loose and can be moved less then a millimeter and it will revert back to the internal speakers instead of the headset =(
Is this normal? And what should I do about it?
    Thanks Francis

  • Audio fades out after switching from silent

I generally have my phone on silent mode at all times. Occasionally while watching a video I'll have to take the phone out of silent mode to get the accompan audio. When I do so, the audio will play for a moment then fade to silent. Pausing and resuming the video resolves the issue but it's extre annoy. I'm sure I'm not the only one that has experienced this and this may have already been asked. Any help that can be provided woild be much appreciated!

sorry for for the typos! Got ahead of myself!

  • AUDIO Line Out Problem

Something weird happened today. I had the audio from my 2.1 system plugged into an iogear DVI switcher. I no longer need the switch anymore, so I then plugged the audio cable from my 2.1 system directly into the audio in port on the back of my Mac Pro. And I get no sound. I tried everything I can think of. The "line out" option is selected under the "Sound" in preferences. I tried plugging in headphones to the headphone jack and get no sound either. When I change it to "internal speakers", I do hear the sound. Just for the heck of it, I also plugged the 2.1 audio cable to the front headphone jack and still no audio from the speakers.
I am pulling my hair out here...can anyone offer any advice??
    THANKS SO MUCH!

    OMG, I'm so stupid!
I had plugged in my iPhone earlier to the Aux input of the speaker control on the desk and left the plug adapter in it! When it's plugged in, it doesn't allow anything to come through except the Iphone. Unplugged it and all is well again. I can't believe I didn't figure that out on my own earlier!!
Well I hope this helps someone else out in the future who makes this same stupid mistake!

  • Air Port Express Audio drop Out Problem

Hi I have just brought an Air Port Express home and spent the evening setting it up which went relatively smoothly, but once tested using the Optical out into an Musical Fidelity V3 X Dac (Digital to Analog Converter) the sound persistently jitters making music unlistenable, using conventional 3.5mm stereo jack output works fine it only seems to be on the optical.
Have read as much as I can find of use on the net but it seems either the optical out is faulty or incompatible with this DAC or some people have mentioned it might be the latest version of I tunes all my soft-wear is up to date.
Does anyone have a solution or should I return it or will anyone at Apple no what I`m talking about in the shop I got the impression they didn`t know anything about the Optical out.
    Any Help greatfully recieved.

You will need to try several different optical cables as they vary tremendously in their signal integrity. It is not unusual to see two identical cables from the same manufacturer perform very differently. Check out the store's return policy and try several different cables to see if you can find the right combination.

  • Outbound audio fades out during phone conversations on an iPhone 5 - frequent complaints from almost everyone I speak with.

When on a call on an iPhone 5, the person on the other end of the line frequently complains that they have "lost me" and they can't hear anything I'm saying. The inbound audio on my end sounds fine.  Any reports of microphone or other issues on the iPhone 5?
The complaints don't appear to be related to any particular call circumstance (inbound vs outbound, land line vs another cell phone, different carriers) - appears to happen in all situations.

You might want to talk with Apple Support or go to the Apple Store, as this could be a device issue. However, it's likely an iOS 7 software issue, or the simple fact that your iPhone is getting "older". I have an iPod touch 5 (same year and software as your iPhone), and I have noticed the decline of my device.

  • What's the Best Way to do an Audio Fade-In or Fade-Out

I'm trying to figure out the best way to do an audio fade-out, other than placing a keyframe at the start of the fade, them placing a keyframe at the end of the clip and dragging it down to zero. It's hard to quickly place a keyframe at the end and know for sure it's at the very end.
In previsous versions of Premiere, I had trouble plading a keyframe and keeping it at 100%, just by placing a keyframe it would also adjust the level most of the time.  This seems to be less of a problem in CS4, but is there a way to be certain of inserting a keyfram at the current level. (A quick way.)
In general, there's got to be a quicker way to do a fade out or in!
I have Premiere Pro CS4 with a Matrox RTX2 card.
There are only three audio transitions:
    Constant Gain
    Constant Power
    Exponential Fade
I can't seem to make any of them work, cannot drag them over to an audio clip.

    Eddie:
I had seen those instructions before.
They say: To fade out a clip’s audio, drag an audio transition from the Effects panel to a Timeline panel so that it snaps to the Out point of the audio clip.
When I try to drage one of the three avaialable audio transistions to a clip:
    Constant Gain
    Constant Power
    Exponential Fade
    Nothing happens.
    WAIT.
I think I've got it now.  The "Snaps to the Out point" part.  Damn.  There was no visual feedback during the drag to indicate something was happening.
    OK.  (Whew.)
    Thanks!

  • Quick way to fade out audio on a clip

    FCE 4.0
hi. is there a quick way to automatically have the audio fade out entirely at the end of a clip other than inserting keyframes and dragging it out that way? Scenario would be that I am doing a fade-in/fade-out video dissolve and would like the audio to do the same. when I tried the audio transitions of 0 or 3db (I can't tell any diff, btw) it doesn't seem to actually fade the audio to zero.

more info... it seems that none of my audio transitions are working at all. I imported an MP3, rendered it, split it, and added some crossfades. Made the duration like 3 seconds just to be sure, and literally no adjustment is happening to the audio at all. Is there a setting I'm missing? Now, if I use the keyframes, I can adjust it fine. It's just not adjusting with the audio crossfade transitions.
