Editing contacts book on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I am trying to edit and/or delete my contacts book on the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and am wirelessly connected to a network.  I get the icon for the contacts book on the printer screen but I see no opportunity to delete or edit a particular contact.  Help?  Thanks.

Ok,
Indeed I referred to the Fax Speed Dial list while you referred to the Scan to Email Contacts List.
That can be chnaged form the printer homepage (EWS) as following:
Open the HP Software by clicking the HP Officejet Pro 8600 icon and thne click on Printer Home Page (EWS)
Click the Scan tab.
Click on Email Address Book and confirm and approve any security alert.
From there you may manage the Address Book.
Note: You may also access it by clicking the network icon on the top of the printer front panel and locating the IP Address.
Browse to this IP from your Web Browser to access the page.

  • Editing address book on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I can't figure out how to edit address book entries on my printer.  Can someone provide some tips?

One of the easier ways to do this is through the EWS, or embedded web server. Find the IP address of your printer by pushing the wireless icon on its display, and put that ip in to a web browser ad if it was a web site. After that if you go to scan to email along the right, or you may have to go to scan along the top first, you should see address book on the left column. This is going by memory so if that doesnt work let me know and i confirm on an actual unit.

  • Unable to Completely Scan Legal Size Documents with Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I am trying scan legal sized documents on my new Officejet Pro 8600 Plus. I have reviewed the forums, and this has been a recurring problem in the past (see link---  http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Scanning-Faxing-and-Copying/Scanning-Legal-Size-Documents/m-p/35416#M14...   ), but does not appear to be resolved. Whether I use the document feeder or the glass, the document is cut off at the bottom, and appears to be stopping at the 'A4' size, vs. legal. I cannot locate any setting on the scanner itself, or in the HP Utility software to change this, or even to be able to identify the current setting, if it is one.
I am using a Mac Pro, system 10.6.8, just installed and started using the printer a couple of days ago, and everything is up to date software-wise. Everything else on this machine has been working beautifully.
Can anyone identify what's going on here and how to correct it?
Thanks for your help--I specifically chose this particular unit over the next model down due to the legal sized glass/bed, and if I can't use it to scan legal docs, well, that's a problem. Thanks for your help!

    Hello,
    Please try the following steps:
    1. Open the HP Utility and select your device.
    2. From Scan Settings open the "Scan to Computer".
    3. Click the "Scan Tasks" tab.
    4. Select the Scan Shortcut used to scan, then click Edit.
    5. In the section of Scan from an HP Device click on the blue triangle to enlarge the menu.
    6. From the enlarged menu now open the drop-down menu next to Crop To and set as None.
    7. Click OK and try scanning again.
Please let me know of any change,

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus (All-in-One) - Incoming Fax but mistakenly answer phone

I have landline phone service.  On this line, I have multiple phones, an answering machine, internet service via wireless Uverse setup, and the HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus as a fax.  It's also a printer/scanner - but that uses the wireless Uverse service.
The unit works as a phone, if I answer in fewer than 4 rings.  The answer machine picks up after 4 rings.  If a fax, the fax connects after 6 rings.  (Auto answer function is turned on.)  This works.
If I mistakenly answer a fax call with the phone that the HP 8600 is connected through, I can press: 1,2,3 and the fax will answer.  This works.
Problem: If I mistakenly answer a fax call from one of the other phones in the house (same phone line is ringing as before - but the phone is NOT the one through which the HP 8600 is connected) - 1,2,3, does NOT work.  If I rush to the HP 8600: pressing the "fax" button on the unit does not connect the fax call; nor does the HP 8600 give me the option to "Accept" the call, when the phone as been answered.
Does anyone know what buttons to push to get the fax to connect when the phone line is answered at a phone?  Either at the answered phone OR if I can get to the HP 8600 when I hear the fax tone - buttons I can push on the HP 8600 to get it to respond to the fax tones coming in on the line?
Thanks to anyone who can help.

I see that you have some concerns when it comes to answering a fax call by accident from another phone.  Pressing the 1.2.3 on the fax is the proper way to remedy the issue when you answer from the fax, however this feature will not work from another phone.
I do realize that this is an inconvenience.  The only resolution would be to contact the sender of the fax and have them resend.
    Thank you for your time.

  • PDF from Google Apps gmail/gdrive by Cloudprinter failed on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One

    Dear forum contributors,
    1. HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One
    2. Linux OpenSuSE 12.2 64-bit
    3. Failed , after the failed message is a very long URL to my gmail attachment.
    4. This issue occured from the beginning, I have this printer only for one week.
When I print different kinds of PDF's from Google Apps (gmail and gdrive) by Google Cloudprinter I got a failed message at the HP eprinter Recent Print Jobs list.
Other prints from Google Cloudprinter, for example a webpage or a Google Docs document (not PDF) is working fine.
Also sending the same PDF's directly to my @hpeprinter.com e-mail address is working fine.
Is this a problem by Google Cloudprinter or HP e-print? How to solve the problem?
    Thanks for helping,
    Jurjen

After much research, I was unable to obtain a direct answer for two reasons: HP doesn't support Linux or Cloud Print beyond initial setup.  I was not very satisfied with this answer as I knew you would not really be either so I found some links and this may be the last I can provide any assistance here due to the two reasons above.  These links cover everything and should provide for you additional links to all of your questions I believe.
--Serving a Printer to Google Cloud Print from Linux--
    --Google Cloud Print on Linux--
--Installing Google Cloud Print on a Linux Server--
Otherwise, if ePrint is not working within the apps using a Windows-based computer I am more than happy to assist you.  You may continue to get support here from other community members regarding Linux but I may not be of much assistance.  I can say the first place to check is www.eprintcenter.com and see what the error messages say there under the print history, cancel any pending print jobs and try again.  Keep me posted on any additional information you may want to add regarding a Windows PC, otherwise I should direct you over to some great support provided by Google Cloud. Linux is suppose to work with these functions so I will leave you with this final excerpt from a Cloud Print Help site:
"Why is my document not printing?
    1. Make sure your Google Cloud Print connector is running on a computer with Mac, Windows, or Linux.
    2. If you're using Windows XP, make sure you also have the Windows XP Service Pack 3 (SP3) installed.
    3. Confirm that the computer connected to your printer is powered on and that you are logged in."
This printer should support this feature so to make sure, you can log into www.eprintcenter.com and select ePrint Settings under the customized email address on this page and ensure you have Print Services ON.  I wish I could be of more assistance however.  I strongly recommend contacting the manufacturer of the apps you are having the problem with as these functions work when you use them like ePrint was intended (via email and mobile devices).  Good Luck!
Don't forgot to say thanks by giving "Kudos" if I helped solve your problem.

I want to print my photos using this printer, but it never print them right, so I bought Colormunki photo to calibrate my monitor and my printer and match them together. The problem is I can't control the printer color management  !!! I want to disable it, so I can use the printer profile in Photoshop or other applications to get the right prints. my prints are darker when I set the color management to be handled by the application, or I make the printer handle it but I will end up with wrong colors. I really really need to change the profile of the printer. how ?????? otherwise I really have no use of it in my work.

    Jassim,
Kudos to you for figuring out how to better control the outcome for what you require.
I have learned something new today.  Smiling!
Did you create the new profile manually or add it in from a previously saved setting?  Filename / filetype?
It has been a while since I used Photoshop.  I am thinking I may take another look at my old favorite.

I purchased this unit yesterday for my office and I would like to have incoming faxes get sent to my computer as an e-mail.  I have gone through the digital fax setup process but I am not receiving e-mails notifying me of a fax.  Here are some specifics:
HP OfficeJet Pro 8600 Plus e All-in-one printer

    HP Officejet 8600 pro Plus  N911g  model # snprc-1101-01
I insert an SD card full of photos into the built in card reader - but have no option to send the photos to a file on my computer. Does this product only print but not send to a computer?  I need to edit the photos before printing.

    Hi @Rodney88,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand that your HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer N911g wont send SD imapges to computer, and I am happy to help!
According to your printer's user guide found at this website, HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus e-All-in-One Printer - N911g User guides, as well as this guide, Printing From a Memory Card or USB Flash Drive. This printer only supports printing from SD cards.
In order to transfer the files to your computer, you will need an SD Card reader for your computer.
Hope this clears things up for you, and have a good day!

  • [win7 64bit ultimate]: HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus prints won't scan

Guys I have spent 2 days on reading and trying all of the suggestions in previous posts. My HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus JUST won't scan. When I click to scan a Document or Photo the HP Scan pops up saying: The HP Officejet Pro 8600 was not found.
When I do unistall the HP basic software and then install again it works fine. However when pc restarts problem is still there.
I have completely uninstalled my avast Antivirus and also configured the windows firewall. No luck till now.
Tried the HP Print and Scan Doctor: It appears that the problem is in the device manager. Edited: Just looked at the device manager and spotted this >
If I reinstall it will work only till my next restart.
    Any suggestions?

    @N3CR4, welcome to the forums
I read about how you cannot scan and have been troubleshooting quite a bit lately, to no avail.
I have some questions and some ideas for you. If you've tried the steps, just let me know the results. Here are my ideas for you.
Have you uninstalled the printer by right clicking on them in the Device Manager, as shown in your screen shot, then restarted your PC and reinstalled?
Have you tried creating another User Account with Admin privileges and tried installing?
Try a clean boot, and restart the PC and ensure your Firewalls and Anti-Virus scanners are disabled and try running the installation.
Will the printer install successfully on another PC?
Remove the printer by using the Microsoft Fix it tool, restart the PC and try installing again.
Try unregistering and re-registering the Microsoft Windows Installer service:
    1. Click the Start menu and type " cmd " in the search field and press enter.
    2. Type in " msiexec /unregister " and then press enter.
    3. Type in " msiexec /regserver " and then press enter.
    4. Restart your PC and try the installation.
Run the SFC scan to repair any corupt files. (Run the scan 3 times if there is an issue in the results) then try installing the printer again.
Using System File Checker to Restore System Files
I really hope the steps help, let me know the outcome

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and HP Pavilion dv7-7073ca

    1. HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus and HP Pavilion dv7-7073ca
    2. Operating System
    Windows 7 64-bit
    3. Error messsage: Blue Screen and Crash. Can't PRINT Wirelessly or Wired + Blue Screen Of Death when printing a document with Microsoft Office. It then restarted the entire computer.
It might have said something about BIOS
    4. Any changes made to your system before the issue occurred
No, all I did was install the software that came on the Officejet disc
I don't know what to do. I tried to create an adhoc network, and that didn't work. I tried to connect it via usb cable and the whole computer crashed. I tried to set up a router and then it would not connect to the internet.
Why is this design so flawed? Every wireless printer I have had does this and will not work easily or permanently. You should just be able to connect instantly to your computer and voila, you can print. But nothing seems to work. Mind you, the constant variable here is me, and I have little patience for spending days trying to get this to work. But I am a student, and this is holding back valuable study time.
    What do I do???
Any advice appreciated...can someone tell me step by step how to do this? I followed the instructions in the books, but ended up well...you know, so that's why I'm here.

I had the same issue, officejet pro 8600 plus causing blue screen of death on my new computer. After several frustrating months trying everything, I fould that my new computer has 3.1 USB ports, this printer doesnt like them, they need a 2.1 USB port.
For whatever reason USB ports are not backwards compatible, so I plugged the USB cable into the 2.1 port and no more crashes.
3.1 ports are blue, 2.1 ports are black ( the plastic inside)
    Hope this helps

  • HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus will not print the attached file in the e-mail

I have installed the software and setup HP eprint according the manual respectively the advices in HP-Connected however if I send an e-mail to [edited by Moderator] the printer 8600 PRO PLUS will not print the attached file in this case a PDF. But the text inside the e-mail will printed.

    Hi Conny,
Welcome to the HP Support forums.  I understand that the attachment to an email sent to your Officejet Pro 8600 Plus printer’s ePrint email address did not print.
After the PDF didn’t print, did you log into your HP Connected account?  I’m curious as to what HP Connected indicated about the print job. I have included the ePrint Job Did Not Print document.  It has several causes and solutions as to why the PDF didn’t print.

  • Thin horizontal black line at BOTTOM of page when scan on HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus

I owned an HP Officejet Pro 8500 and scanning was perfect.  I recently purchased an HP Officejet Pro 8600 Plus.
When I scan from the HP 8600 auto document feeder, I get a thin (several pixel wide) black line along the bottom edge of the resulting scan.  This line will sometimes be slighly crooked or only appear across half the page, in which case it tends to get thicker toward the edge of the page).  I believe this line is an artifact from scanning the very bottom edge of the oroginal document.  I think it is showing where the bottom edge of the page was when scanned.  If the document is a little skewed, then the black line at the bottom will be a little crooked, probably following the edge of the page.  This problem is consistent, and repeatable.  It happens in both "Scan To E-mail" mode and "Scan To Network Folder" mode.
When I scan from the flat bed, I get a very narrow black line along the very top edge of the resulting scan, but the bottom appears fine (although I've not tested this extensively).
These thin black lines did not occur when scanning from the HP 8500.
I am wondering if there is a setting to adjust this, or if it is a firmware difference between printers that needs debugging.
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

I find it interesting that the issue happens across both printers.  This is what leads me to believe this is something with the software/connection with the PC.  One thing I will note is that you mentioned above using Adobe Reader 10.1.6.  The latest version of Adobe Reader is 11.0.02.  I would advise removing your current version of Adobe Reader and install the latest version.
I am not sure if this will fix the issue as you mentioned the line comes across in jpeg and other scanning styles.  Do you possibly have another PC you could try setting up a connection with quickly and attempting a scan?  This would be another way to ensure if the issue is coming from the printer or a connection/software issue.
I would like to make sure the issue is coming from the scanners on these printers before returning the printers as I would hate for you to get another model printer and the issue remain with this printer as well.  However, I will note that the Laserjet Pro 200 is a nice series printer from my experience.  I have used the Laserjet Pro 200 black and white only edition, the MFP, and the TopShot edition where I am located.

My Officejet Pro 8600 Plus paper tray will not return to the proper position. This has happened TWICE now, and always about 3 weeks into using it...
I returned the first printer and replaced it with the same because we love the features and ease of use. But now,  AGAIN??
I tried printing with it hanging out this time..it will print, but ....COME ON!  It makes it real hard to pull out the tray that my paper lays on after printing!
I called HP support the first time, he couldnt help me. Just said replace it.  There has to be something I can do a button or something?  I cant see it..does anyone else know?

Unofrtunately useless information. By trial and error I have found the only way to replace the tray is to lift the entire printer from the front at about a 20 degree angle and then the tray slides in. Very defective design. Never buy another HP.
It is possible you have a defective unit, I would suggest you Contact HP for service.
It may not be any consolation for you, but the tray works fine on my Officejet 8600 Pro Plus.

  • Officejet Pro 8600 Plus says ink is empty when it is not

Each time I have to change one cartridge on the Officejet Pro 8600 Plus I check how full the other cartridges are.  Typically the yellow one is 75% full and the other colours about 50%.
So I buy and install one cartridge.  It doesn't matter if it is a black one or a colour one.  I replace it with a genuine HP cartridge.  That goes fine and comes up as now being full.  But immediatly after this it tells me the other cartridges need to be replaced too.   I go through all imaginable fixes (including a hard reset of course) but nothing changes - it still insists that the other cartridges are also empty.  Of course it now won't print (unless I want to print in black only).
This means that every time I have to replace one cartridge I end up replacing all four.  So now I have a stack of old cartridges that are at least half full but cannot be used  - what a waste of money!    How did HP design a printer like this?

    Hello,
