Hi there EKahn,
You may want to try force closing all open apps and resetting the device as an initial troubleshooting step. Take a look at the articles below for more information.

  • When is Adobe Digital Editions creating an app for iPad?

Without digital edtions I am unble to use public library e books. Please advise.

Hear, hear! I review books, the galleys of which are increasingly being made available by publishers in DRM-protected format to reviewers; so to read such files, I have to sit in front of of my IMac for two-hundred-odd pages, or more. Please, oh please Adobe people, can we have a version of Digital Editions for the IPad?
P.S. It's  possible to read DE's DRM-protected files on an IPad using a free app called Txtr, available at the app store. It does work, although not easily. You have to link your IPad to your Adobe ID via the Txtr app, then upload the pdf file created within Digital Editions on your computer to a txtr website, and then download it to your IPad. But it works....

  • IOS 6.1 editing contacts photo crash

Hello. I think this may be a user-wide 6.1 issue, meaning everyone with an iPhone 5 and iOS 6.1 (at least) are susceptible to this bug/crash.
Normally when I edit my contacts and give that contact a photo, I would copy the thumbnail (little square) from the camera roll album, without actually opening the full-size photo. After doing this, I would go into Contacts > Edit and longpress over the "add photo" and putting "paste" would drop the thumbnail into the contact. Reason behind this was so that when I get a call from any contact, I get a small thumbnail photo as opposed to their big face/large photo appearing on my phone (I just find this more refined). It worked fine in the past, as I often am adding new photos to my contacts.
Today however I tried the same and discovered that I am experiencing a fully-reproducible crash... go ahead and try it. Go to your camera roll, copy any of your thumbnail photos (don't open the photo), then go to Contacts (or Phone) app, Edit, and paste it over the "add photo" (or existing photo). This will instantly cause the Contacts/Phone app to crash, without saving any data you have edited within that contact by that time. It's very frustrating because it means I can't edit my contact pictures at all by this method, no matter where the photo originates from or what contact/type of contact I'm editing. (FYI: All contacts of mine sync through iCloud)
I have tried power cycling the iPhone (turn off/on), rebooting (holding sleep+home), and jettisoning all my apps. Nothing fixes the issue, so I have come to the conclusion that it must be an iOS 6.1 bug, at least on the iPhone 5. If anyone has any solutions, recommendations, or has also experienced this... please help.

I ran into the same problem on iOS 6.1 on an iPhone 4S.  Same repro steps except that I copied my image from within Safari.  I agree that this method of adding images is best as it avoids having to safe the image you want to use to the photos app.

  • Contacts crashes when editing iphone 6

I have restarted, forced close on Contacts.  Every time I try to delete duplicate information in a contact, the app closes and does not make the edit.
ios 8.1.3, iphone 6.   The synced information is not duplicated on other devices, only on the iphone.

    Hi abigailfromtoronto,
Is the issue regarding duplicate information only happening with one contact?  When you go to www.icloud.com, do you see the information duplicated there?   If it is one individual contact, I would delete the contact at www.icloud.com, confirm it is no longer on the iPhone, restart the iPhone, then re-enter the contact on the iCloud website.

    Get help using iCloud Contacts
Learn what to do if you're having issues using iCloud Contacts. For example, your contacts might be duplicated or might not show up at all.
    Try these steps first:
Check the System Status page to see if there are any issues affecting iCloud Contacts.
Make sure that you have copies of your contacts. If you don't have a copy, you can make one.
If you see duplicate contacts, you can get help removing duplicates.
To see what to do next, select the operating system that you're having issues with:
    iOS
    OS X Lion or later
    iCloud.com
    Microsoft Windows (Microsoft Outlook)
    iOS
After each step, check to see if the issue still exists.
Make sure that iCloud Contacts is on
Tap Settings > iCloud on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch and make sure that Contacts is on.
    Update your iOS device
Make sure that you're using iOS 5 or later. To see your version, Go to Settings > General > About > Version.
If your issue continues, install the latest version of iOS that's supported by your device.
    Check your Internet connection
Try to go to www.apple.com in Safari. If you can't connect to the Internet, your iCloud contacts won't update in the Contacts app. You can get help with your Internet connection.
Open a secure website from your iOS device to see if you can access ports 80 and 443. Contacts requires access to port 443 to push updates to and from the iCloud Contacts servers.
    Refresh your contacts
If recent changes don't appear in Contacts on your iOS device, try refreshing:
In iOS 7, open Contacts, tap Groups in the upper-left corner, then swipe down to refresh the list of groups.
In iOS 6 and iOS 5, open Contacts, tap Groups in the upper-left corner, then tap the Refresh button in the upper-left corner.
    Check your settings
Make sure that your device is set to display iCloud contacts:
Open Contacts and tap Groups in the upper-left corner.
Make sure All iCloud is selected.
See if a contact is stored with iCloud or another service, such as Google or Yahoo:
Open Contacts and tap Groups in the upper-left corner.
Deselect the All [account] option for any third-party, such as Gmail or Yahoo.
Make sure All iCloud is selected.
View your contacts. If the contact isn't visible, then it exists in a third-party account.
You can import the contact from a third-party service into iCloud. iCloud won't sync contacts that are associated with a different service.
You need to make sure that iCloud is your default account for Contacts:
If you want new contacts to appear automatically on your devices.
If you're syncing contacts with multiple accounts on your device (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo) and recent changes to Contacts on your iOS device don't appear on your other devices.
See if iCloud is your default account:
Tap Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars.
In the Contacts section, tap Default Account.
    Make sure iCloud is selected.
    Restart Contacts
Close and restart the Contacts app on your iOS device:

Find the Contacts preview screen and swipe it up to close the app.
Press the Home button to return to your Home screen.
Wait a minute, then reopen the Contacts app.
    iOS 6 or iOS 5:
Double-click the Home button to open the multitasking menu.
Touch and hold the Contacts icon until it jiggles.
Tap the X to remove it from the list.
Press the Home button to return to the Home screen.
Wait a minute, then reopen the Contacts app.
Turn iCloud Contacts off and back on
    Tap Settings > iCloud.
    Turn Contacts off.
You can choose Delete from My [device] if your data exists at icloud.com/contacts and on one or more of your devices. Otherwise, choose Keep on My [device].
Wait a few minutes, then turn Contacts back on.
    Restart your device
Hold down the Sleep/Wake button, then drag the slider when asked to power off. Turn your device back on.
    OS X Lion or later
You can use these steps with Contacts on OS X Mountain Lion or later or Address Book on OS X Lion. After each step, check to see if the issue still exists.
Make sure iCloud Contacts is on
Choose Apple () > System Preferences, click iCloud, and select Contacts.
See which version of OS X you're using

Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Click All [iCloud Account Name] in the left sidebar.
Search for the contact that wasn't syncing properly.
If the contact isn't visible, then the contact exists in a third-party account, not iCloud.
You can import the contact from a third-party account into iCloud.
If recent changes to contacts on OS X don't appear on your other devices and you're syncing contacts with multiple accounts on your device (iCloud, Gmail, Yahoo), make sure that iCloud is your default account for Contacts:
Open Contacts (or Address Book on OS X Lion).
Choose Contacts > Preferences (or Address Book > Preferences on OS X Lion).
On the General tab, make sure that your iCloud account is the default.

    Go back to Contacts.
If you still see the issue, sign out of iCloud:
Click your name in the upper-right corner.
    Choose Sign Out.
    Sign back in.

In Outlook 2007, select File > Data File Management > Data Files. If iCloud is listed as the default account in the Comments column, select a different account and click Set as Default.
    Restart your computer
After you restart your computer, see if the issue was resolved.
Find your contacts in Microsoft Outlook
Learn how to manage Add-ins with Microsoft Outlook.
When you turn on Mail, Contacts, Calendars & Tasks in the iCloud Control Panel, iCloud copies your contacts data from the default Outlook .pst file to iCloud, then removes the contacts from the .pst file by placing them in the Deleted Items folder in Outlook. The Contacts data is then stored in the iCloud data set within Outlook so that changes can be pushed to and from Outlook by iCloud.
After you enable Contacts in the iCloud Control Panel, make sure that you're looking for your data in the iCloud folder within Outlook. If you need to, you can see the deleted file by viewing the Deleted Items in your Outlook Folder List. This isn't iCloud removing your data, just moving it to iCloud.

  • My iPad says that it cannot contact the App Store.

My iPad says that it cannot contact the App Store.  I am trying to down load a free app.  I tap FREE and it says INSTALLING.  I never get a challenge for my Apple ID or PW.  After about 15 or more minutes it says CANNOT CONTACT iTUNES STORE.  I tried turning off the cellular comms and just using the WiFi (with my ADSL ).  Is the store down?  I can down load onto my iPhone with no trouble.  Please help.

OK the reboot (power down, restart, unlock SIM with PIN) has solved the problem.  Funny how talking to someone, even no-one helps to solve a problem.  I believe it forces the problem into the brain's cognitive centre.

Also using iTunes 11.4 on Windows 8.1 Enterprise 64-bit. Crashes in the "syncing apps" stage. Happens on two different user accounts, one using an iPod Touch and one using an iPhone 5.
Clean uninstall/reinstall doesn't make any difference. Safe mode doesn't make any difference (no plug-ins installed).
Stack trace shows an unknown routine in iTunesMobileDevice.dll calling Microsoft C++ runtime routine _wstat32i64 with a null name parameter. This is definitely an iTunes 11.4 bug.

I work for a organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad and want to continue this through 2015.
At the moment we can only create apps for the iPad platform.  If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of Single edition apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We do not need multi-folio apps as we are not a publishing company.

    Thanks Neil
I sent an email yesterday and am awaiting a reply.  Here is my email for reference.

I work for a large organisation based in Sydney and we have a team license for creative cloud (single edition).
We have been producing single folio apps for the iPad through Indesign and the App builder.  We now want to produce apps for iPhone, iPad and Android devices.
If we upgrade to a Professional Edition DPS license can we create an unlimited number of apps for iPad, iPhone and Android devices?
We are not a publishing company so we will produce a small number of the apps.  If you could get back to me with a solution and approx price that would be great.
    Thanks for your time

    Matt

  • Cant add nor edit Contacts since added gmail account by google apps

Time ago I´ve used to have only 1 mail account set on my blackberry, a gmail account ([email protected]), and used the google sync (http://m.google.com/sync) to synchronize contacts between the smartphone and the webmail account. It has been working like a charm for a long time. At that time, I could create and edit contacts and the changes got synchronized in both sites.
A month ago I decided to create through Google Apps an email address with my own internet domain ([email protected]), and decided to add this email address to the smartphone to check both accounts. The first surprise came when I noted that adding this email address (following the procedure to add any email address) has caused the BB to activate it, like BES mode, against the gmail server.
Suddenly I discovered that I cant create nor edit contacts in BB, but I can in the webmail interface of the google apps email address. The contact created using the web interface is syncronized to the BB.
The issue is that I cant create nor edit contacts in the smartphone!
Have anyone experienced something similar to this?
Any idea will be greatly appreciated
    Ariel

When I try to listen (prelisten to songs before you buy) to music in the iTunes App on the iPad the App crashes and the iPad shows the Home Screen. Or the App freezes and no music plays. I diconnected my account in the App which brougth no differences. This error happens al the time and not randomly.
Any help? I did not find anything related to it in the www...
    Thanks for any hints.

    Hi retepppank69,
I have exactly the same problem. I had called AppleCare and told this problem. They say to me instantly that the best way is to exchange the iPad directly.
Today I sent to Apple my iPad and waiting now for the new iPad.

  • I have bought an app on my mac, but it has iPad edition, do I need to pay, if I download the same app for iPad?

I have bought an app on my mac, but it has iPad edition, do I need to pay, if I download the same app for iPad?

Yes, unless the iOS version is explicitly marked as free. Mac OS X and iOS versions of the same application are separate products.

  • After iTunes Crash Sync deleted nearly all apps on iPad

I´d recently problems with iTunes: By syncing with iPad and with iTunes Match my library crashed. It started a safe mode, and I´ve recognized that about 9.000 from my 24.000 songs have been lost. No greater problem, as I´ve iTunes Match. It needed quite a time, and the library was complete again. The lost 9.000 songs have not been added from the PC, but they are in the cloud and I can load them again.
My greater problem: What I didn´t recognize is that the apps were lost, too. There were no apps and no e-books in my iTunes.
And now the best: As I wanted to load my iPad iTunes started syncing and deleted nearly all my apps from my iPad. Only 29 apps remained. Why especially this 29 apps remained and not other 29 - I don´t know...
The re-installing of the apps is not the problem, too. But the game saves... all lost? Or will my cloud sync help?
And the restored library is now a second PC for my iTunes Match.
So it would be really great if anyone of you can help me with the following questions:
    1. Why had my empty iTunes deleted all the apps on iPad and not the other way (full iPad saving backup on iTunes)?
    2. How can I get my old iPad situation back? Can I anyway?
    3. How can I deactivate an inactive PC from iTunes Match? (Deactivation is just possible for the actual library)
    4. Can I restore my game saves when the apps do not offer iCloud sync?
    5. And what will happen when my empty apps will sync with iCloud? Will the empty game saves delete the old ones?
    6. And what will happen when I connect my iPhone and my iPod with power while iTunes is running? Will iTunes delete these apps, too?
Thanks a lot for your patience reading all the questions. I really hope you can help.

I have this same issue, except that when I drag/drop apps from the Library, to my iPad, it doesn't seem to update the checkmarks in the Sync Apps section. Shouldn't it be done automatically when I add apps in itunes in this fashion? Since on the next sync, if I change anything, it'll ask me if I want them removed or I have to cancel it all.
Also, if I don't Sync Apps, will my data still be backed up? That is, if I need to restore my iPad, will my apps be restored as well as the backed up data?
    Thx.

  • IPad (original) running 5.1.1 crashing apps

Hoping someone can help. I have a second hand iPad 1 which was running fine until I updated it to 5.1.1. Now it crashes apps every couple of minutes and is basically unuseable. The app that crashes the most is actually Apples own app, the App Store. I see I am not the only one having this kind of problem. I have closed all open apps, "reset" using back and home buttons, and even restored the software before restoring the iPad from my backup. It still crashes. Unsure what to do next. Any ideas?

Can I say, don't bother hoping that they can fix it?
I've got my firmware restored 4 times, and the app store still crashes.
But my iPad2 running on 5.1.1 doesn't seems to be having this issue.
And so does my wife's iPad3.
It gave me an impression that they wanted to abandon the original iPad support discreetly... unless someone can provide me a satisfactory answer AND a solution.

    thanks
    yours desmond

The best solution is to copy your whole iTunes folder from the old computer (or the backup you keep against loss) to the new one.  That's how it is set up to be done.
Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):
    - Senuti - http://www.fadingred.com/senuti/
    - Phoneview - http://www.ecamm.com/mac/phoneview/

    - 2010 Post by Zevoneer: iPod media recovery options - https://discussions.apple.com/message/11624224 - this is an older post and many of the links are also for old posts, so bear this in mind when reading them.
Syncing to a "New" Computer or replacing a "crashed" Hard Drive - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3141 - dates from 2008 and some outdated information now.
Copying Content from your iPod to your Computer - The Definitive Guide - http://www.ilounge.com/index.php/articles/comments/copying-music-from-ipod-to-co mputer/ - Information about use in disk mode pertains only to older model iPods.
Get Your Music Off of Your iPod - http://howto.wired.com/wiki/Get_Your_Music_Off_of_Your_iPod - I am not sure but this may only work with some models and not newer Touch, iPhone, or iPad.

    Hello jayanand,
You may need to force close all open apps, then restart the phone. If necessary, you may need to reset the phone after that.
