Editing Crystal Report causes Errors under VS 2005

Every time a report is modified in a Visual Studio 2005 C# project the following errors appear as a result of the code generated by Crystal Reports:
"NewGenerator' no suitable method found to override
"FullResourceName' no suitable method found to override
Commenting out the two generated methods gets rid of the errors and allows for a successful build.
Other forum posters have solved this problem by changing the project references to .dlls from a newer Crystal Reports version however I have only one version of Crystal Reports on my system (Version XI Release 2) so the same trick does not work for me.
Any help would be appreciated.

Does this happen with new reports added to the project, or just older reports that were already there? It sounds like the DLLs for the code generator aren't matching up to the runtimes being used at compile time. There are a couple of things to try. First, make sure all your project references are a single version, as per AG's post
Then, try right-clicking on the report in the solution explorer and selecting "Run Custom Tool". That should force the code generator to regenerate the report's code file. (Note - if you have custom stuff in there, back it up first or it will be lost in this process.) Does the report still fail now?
If it does, try running [Modules|https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006252802008E/modules.zip] to see what DLLs are being loaded. It's probable that a wrong one got mixed in somewhere with your machine's history being what it is.
If you do want to reinstall and try to get your environment in good working order, I'd recommend the following order: uninstall Crystal Reports XIR2, do a repair-install on VS (you could also "change" the install and make sure the bundled CR options are checked prior to this), then install CR XIR2, then install any patches you want to install (latest service pack recommended).

What is the application doing?
Iu2019m guessing you have a windows service application and you're trying to launch a UI (ie the viewer control) from the application or print using the vieweru2019s printing functionality programmatically(?).
If this is a Windows Service running under the local system account, then follow the instructions in the error message. (ie, bring up the properties of the service, go to the logon tab and check the checkbox that says u201CAllow service to interact with desktopu201D.   At least that should allow whatever popup is trying to come up display properly.

hi there,
i developed a web application using asp.net4.0, VS 2010 and crystal report for VS2010. everything working fine in development machine as well as local server machine. but the same failed in production and it gave the error message as

actually im getting this error only while passing some input data if i pass some other data then its working fine so, what i did was copied the production database,published folder from server to my local machine and ran the same code here i can see the output without any error. so, im confussing how to resove this issue and where is the issue.
experts please guide me to resolve this issue

Crystal Report Runtime Error 9.0.Could not open the report

Hi,
Getting the Crystal Report Runtime Error 9.0.Could not open the report while Run on Launch Application. Actually in Launch Application, created a link for exe which is having crystal reports. We can open the Crystal Reports from the exe outside B1.
Note: SAP 2007, Crystal Report 2008 is using.Normally can open crystal report.
Any help to fix the error is appreciated.

We use Crystal Report XI developer with Oracle 10g.
Our Oracle Client is Oracle 10g and the Oracle server is Oracle 10g.
Our application develepor tool is CodeGear RAD Studio, Delphi 2007 Enterprise.
The Crystal Report use the Native Oracle Connection.
When the applicatin run, and we call the Crystal Report, an error occure:

I would make verify the database within Crystal report and then re publish it again. It seems it doesn't get the connection to the db.
Have you refreshed the database within Crystal Reports?
As Graham said, does it open in Crystal Viewer?
another thing would be to add the DSN (System DSN) onto your client machine as well. Maybe it is not getting a right connection.

How to create user editable Crystal Report with dynamic dataset

What I would like to achieve:
A program loads a report in runtime updates list of database fields (possibly includes sample data), open report in "Crystal Reports 2011" (or 2008) where user customizes report and saves it. Later on the program loads the report, fills actualized data and displays it in .net report viewer.
What I do:
CrReport = New CrystalDecisions.CrystalReports.Engine.ReportDocument
CrReport.Load(TemplateFilename)
Dim Results As DataTable
DataTable is filled from a database
CrReport.SetDataSource(mResults)
CrReport.SaveAs(NewReportPath, True)
The NewReportPath is opened in the default program.
What are the problems
The report is open in preview mode (not in design).
When the field is added to the report the designer asks for XML datasource on preview.

The short answer is that it is not possible. Crystal Reports 2008 - Error 1904 - DLLs will not register

I have just tried to install Crystal Reports 2008 on a PC which is running on XP Professional 2002 (Service Pack 3) and none of the DDLs will register. I have administrator privileges on the local PC.
I could possibly try to register the DLLs manually but I don't understand why they won't register automatically.
I would really appreciate some assistance with this.

Install .NET Framework 1.1 and 2.0 and then any patches Windows has for them.
Install the C++ runtime distribution from Microsoft, search MS's site for it, they have multiple links for each OS.
Download the latest Microsoft installer, you can go to MS's web site to get it.
Check with your IT department to make sure they have not pushed out a "modified" administrator Profile to your PC. Open up regedit.exe and confirm you can change any key in Current User and Software and anything. Be sure to copy the original so you can right the value back and the usual warnings about modifying the registry.
Download CR 2008 SP1 full build: https://smpdl.sap-ag.de/~sapidp/012002523100006555792009E/cr2008win_sp1.exe ( requires and un-install of existing CR 2008 if any are on your PC )

You could also try Disabling DEP, right click on My Computer, Properties, Advanced tab and Data Execution Prevention and make sure it's set to windows Processes only. Requires a re-boot if changed.
Disable any and all anti-virus and local firewalls, copy everything local and disconnect your network cable so you don't get anything nasty and try again.
If none of the above works then try someone elses computer, your system may be beyond repairing and could require an FDISK and starting all over.

Seagate Crystal Reports: Database Error

I am using Crystal reports Version 8 and frequently get the error 'Seagate Crystal Reports: Database Error' when I try to open a previously working crystal report file. The error occurs when I click on the Database menu. Every time I get this error I end up redesigning the report as the I have not yet found a solution and I cant run the report.
The error is a message box with the title 'Seagate Crystal Reports: Database Error' and an ok button - nothing else.
Its very frustrating!

What database are you using and how are you connecting to it?
What are you clicking in the Database menu: Set Location, Verify Database, Show SQL Query?
Before opening the report, can you connect to the database first then open the report?
I would have expected an error code or a more descriptive error to follow.

Crystal Reports XI - ERROR closes Crystal Reports Entirely

Our company recently purchased Crystal Reports XI. We had previously used Crystal Reports 8 and had great success using it. Our problem is that when creating a new report using CR XI after selecting our ODBC datasource and inputing our username and password crystal reports generates an error and closes entirely. There is not an error code or error description either. Our datasource connects to a secured Access database with a database password set. This same datasource worked great using CR 8. Has anyone else had this problem? If so, did you find a solution?

If you have previous versions of Crystal Reports try removing them. As well check that there are no Business Objects or Crystal Decisions folders under C:\Program Files and that there are no Registry keys for Business Objects or Crystal Decisions in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE and HKEY_CURRENT_USER > Software. (*Back up the Registry before editing)
If you are trying to install from a CD or network drive copy the contents of the install package to the local machine.
Ensure you are logged on as Administrator and that Antivirus and AntiSpam ware are disabled.

Crystal report 10 error - Help required

I am using crystal report 10.0.0.533 - Crystal report developer edition.
All of my reports are working fine without any issue, except one report.
It throws the below error message:

At line number 68 we have below code:

This report was earlier used for Crystal 8.5. However Crystal 10 no longer uses p2smon.dll.
Alternative dll in Crystal report 10 is crdb_ado.dll, I replaced it in the code, however still it is not working.
Could anyone please help me with this issue?

Even after replacing with crdb_cdo.dll...I am getting same error..

I am using crystal rports for pdf generation in asp.net 2.0. When I installed the application on 64bit Windows server

You did not say which version of Crystal Reports you're trying to deploy.
CR XI and CR XI Release 2 are NOT supported on 64 bit systems. The only versions of Crystal Reports supported on 64 bit machines is the version of Crystal that bundles with VS2005 - CR.NET 2005 (v10.2). If you upgrade your VS2005 machine by installing CR XI Developer, or CR XI R2 Developer onto your development machine you will not be able to deploy your application. In this case the only option would be to "downgrade" back to the bundled edition that ships with VS2005.

Crystal Report scheduling error in 3.0, intermittently!

Has anyone gotten this error while scheduling reports on 3.0? My client is experiencing very frustrating issue with cr2008 and xi3.0
When reports are schedule, sometimes they would get errors such as:
An error has occurred: The object with ID 234211, Title "Test Report", Kind "CrystalReport" has changed since last query (FWM 02050)
To replicate this, locate a report that has prompts (LOV). Go to InfoView and View the report on demand (or click on schedule) so it brings up the prompt page. Leave the prmopt page up, open another instance of InfOView or go to CMC, and schedule this report to run now. let it finish. the implication of this is that it will update the parent's last runtime property.
Then return back to the original browser (the one with the prompt page opened), click to select some of the prompts. it will error out while you are selectin the prompt
When we receive this error in Infoview, the java error when i "view source" is as follow;


Once the above issue happens a few times, the CrystalReportProcessing Server would lock up and users will start to experience this error:
Error - Unable to create report page
Once this happens no one is able to view the report again unless we restart the Crystal Report Processing Servers

Morning Simon,
The source doesn't seem to be showing any error message or explaining anything however the error FWM 02050 might say something. Have you searched the Wiki or Articles about this?
Personally I have not seen this type of error before however it seems that either the source or the layout of the report gets changed and hence it errors out as it does not match with the source.
For example, in the report maybe there is a dynamic parameter which gets changed occasionally or any other report object which has a source linked gets changed.
Does this happen only with one report or all the reports?
Does anyone change the reports?
How many dynamic or static params are there in the report?
How is the report connected (odbc or any other means?)
Does the server react like this with other reports as well?

I think we need to investigate first where the problem is generating from and then find out about this error.

Cause
The required object has changed since the last query.
Action
Query the InfoObject again.
Maybe the end user is not query the report properly?
