Editing cut lines in iPhoto

Is there any way to change the font, font size, etc. of pix titles? So far as I can tell, one is limited to whatever font happens and there is no way to alter the fonts used in titles of pix.
Am I missing something here?

No. It's hard coded into the application. You can change the size of the "Source" text in iPhoto's preferences but only between large and small.

  • Editing map lines in iPhoto book

    I am trying to draw 3 separate lines terminating in the same place on a map in an iPhoto book. That is a line from point a to point b to point z; another from c to d to z and a third from e to f to z. When I add the locations in order (abzcdzefz) I get lines from z to c and z to e- how can I either avoid that or edit them out?
    Thanks!

    You are welcome.
    There is really no easy solution. I usually include overview maps without arrows at the beginning of the book, and then a separate map for each leg into the later chapters.
    Sometimes I simply create a map without arrows in iPhoto and then print it to pdf and add the arrows in Preview. Then reimport it and add the edited map to the book on a full-page photo page.

  • How can i edit my design to show me cut lines?

    Hi all, I have my logo design opened in illustrator but im looking to transform it into cut lines so I can see which parts of the logo I need to edit before I cut the design on my cutter.
    Please could someone tell me how to do this?
    thanks

    View > Outline view
    Those are the paths, that the cutter will normally use.

  • How to edit a line in illustrator?

    I am making a coat of arms and the line goes beyond the frame. If I use eraser the white marks are left on the document and there is no background on this image so how do I edit those lines to show nothing when edited?

    Edward,
    As I (mis)understand it, you may, View Smart Guides are your friends:
    1) Select the line in question;
    2) With the Scissors Tool hover over the each of the spots where the line crosses the frame, and Click when Smart Guides say path, or anchor if it crosses the frame at an Anchor Point; this should cut the line at the crossings;
    3) Delete the outlying parts of the line.

  • How to edit a line in a file using a batch file??????

    Basically i want to edit one line in a properties file, using a batch file, Here is what it says
    #Minecraft server properties
    #Tue Feb 22 15:58:36 PST 2011
    level-name=world2
    hellworld=false
    spawn-monsters=true
    online-mode=false
    spawn-animals=true
    max-players=5
    server-ip=5.196.238.77
    pvp=true
    server-port=25565
    white-list=false
    The IP address needs to be changed, i have a hamachi server and a server for home but i need to change this to my ip address on my computer wich is 192.168.1.74. This needs to be changed back and forth so how can i make a batch that just runs and then done its been changed.

    There are no .bat files in a Unix environment
    #!/usr/bin/env bash
    export NEW_IP=192.168.1.74
    perl -ni -e '
    s/d.d+.d+.d/$ENV{"NEW_IP"}/;
    print;
    ' yourpropertiesfile
    Make sure you change the file's protections so they are executable
    chmod +x nameof_yourscript
    There are other ways to do this, I just choose a perl script within a bash script. You could do it all with a bash script, you could use awk, you could use sed, you could use python, ruby, etc...

  • Need to add a cut line around text with a stroke

    This has been driving me nuts for years and I've often found ways to "kind of" accomplish this, but I figured someone here might be able to help.
    Create text, convert to outlines, add a stroke. Ok now I want to add a cut line around that entire thing so it's dye-cut out on vinyl. My cut line is just a stroke with a color defined in my pallet. I can create 2 strokes, but I can't figure out how to get one to go to the edge of the other. I also tried duplicating the image, creating just an outline, but it's impossible to get it exactly outlined by hand.
    If I'm not explaining this right, please let me know.
    So there I have the text, converted to outlines, white fill and gold stroke. I need to be able to dye-cut this. If you add a new stroke, it's on top of the old one. Basically I want to add a stroke, to the stroke, but only the outside.
    Thanks in advance!!

    Thank you Larry. I kind of followed what you said but I think there's some steps missing here?
    I'm glad you showed me how to create additional strokes without creating outlines, I was never clicking above "character", I had to click above it to add a new stroke, if you have the text selected, it's greyed out.
    Ok so I created a new stroke, then selected it, went to FX > Path > Offset Path. I chose 0.02 (closest I could seem to get, but not perfect, ok in some areas, bad in others), miter joins set to 4? Are those the same settings you used? You didn't tell me how much you offset yours. Then I selected the offset path stroke and went object > expand apperance, but it didn't seem to do anything? It just removed the offset path FX option on the stroke? This is where I'm pretty confused. Why even do the step after the offset, couldn't I just stop there and print?
    After adding a stroke and offsetting
    After selecting Object > Expand appearance.
    As you can see, like on the C. There is a gap between the cut line and the stroke at the top, but there's no gap on the left side, but there is on the right, and there is on the bottom as well? If I printed this, I would get white fill, gold stroke, and then another white stroke basically.
    Thank you for your patience, I'm self-taught but over the last 4 years of using it every day I'm still learning new tricks!

  • Can you edit a TIFF in iPhoto 09 without it converting to a JPEG?

    I am wondering if I can edit photos in the TIFF format in iPhoto 09 without having them automatically converted to the JPEG format? I read that you should never edit a TIFF photo if you want to keep it in that format, because iPhoto will immediately convert it to a JPEG the minute you edit it without any warming.
    I am in the process of scanning thousands of slides and I don't want to scan them as TIFFs only to have iPhoto convert them to JPEGs. I will do most of my editing with Photoshop Elements 6 for Mac, but just in case I ever edit a TIFF in iPhoto 09, I need to know if it will automatically be converted to a JPEG or not.
    Today I tried editing a TIFF in iPhoto 09 and as far as I could tell, it didn't change the format to JPEG, even though I just read in the iPhoto 09 Missing Manual today that it WILL in fact change it. Am I missing something? I just assume if it still shows the TIFF extension, it has NOT been converted to a JPEG! Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Linda

    Thanks Terence. What a relief. I still don't understand what the book I read was talking about then. Here's a quote from the section I was referring to in "iPhoto 08: The Missing Manual" book, p 91 (ISBN: 0596-516185):
    "Note, however, that the instant you edit a TIFF-format photo (Chapter 7), iPhoto converts it into JPEG.
    That's fine if you plan to order prints or a photo book (Chapter 11) from iPhoto, since JPEG files are required for those purposes. But if you took that once-in-a-lifetime, priceless shot as a TIFF file, don't do any editing in iPhoto-don't even rotate it- if you hope to maintain its perfect, pristine quality."
    After my test results, I thought maybe this was something that had changed from iPhoto 08 to iPhoto 09, so I went to the bookstore yesterday and checked the same book for iPhoto 09, and there it was, the same quote! (on a different page, of course).
    Anyway, thanks once again for your confirmation that my test was indeed correct. Linda

  • When I edit photo's in Iphoto on my ipad2, it decreases the resolution. Why does this happen and does this also happen on a macbook air?

    I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
    But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
    Does anyone know why Iphoto decreases the resolution of my pictures when I edit them?
    And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?
    Thank you.
    Onno

    I have made pictures on high resolution with a Canon 100D camera, which means the pictures are 5-6 MB.
    Are the photos raw photos or jpeg? When you edit raw photos in iPhoto on your iPad, the raw image will not be processed, only the embedded jpeg. That will reduce the resolution of the image considerably.
    But when I edit them on my Ipad2 in Iphoto it decreases the size and resolution of the pictures to about 0.5MB
    How do you save he edited version after editing?  That will determine, if the image will be scaled down,
    For a full-resolution edit you need to share the edited photo to the Camera Roll,
    see this help page:   Edit a photo
    If you edit a photo in the iPhoto Camera Roll album, the edited photo automatically appears in the Camera Roll on your iOS device, at the resolution of your device. If you want a full-resolution version of the edited photo sent to the Camera Roll, tap and tap Camera Roll. The full-resolution photo appears in the Camera Roll, and is transferred to your computer when you sync the Camera Roll with your computer.
    And does this also happen with Iphoto on a macbook air?
    iPhoto on a Mac has a lossless workflow. iPhoto will always store the original image file that you imported and compute an edited version from this stored original.  The quality of the photo you will see outside iPhoto will depend on the methode you use for sharing. You can export at the original size or scaled down, depending on the purpose you want teh photo for, small for email and web presentation, full versions for printing, for example.

    How can I delete photos in the "Edited" folder in the iPhoto App on my iPad?

    What a pain...you must go through all that to remove it?! So many unessary steps!
    I also find that when I sync up a new photo folder to replace the old set that I previously wiped out and replaced it staggers afew pictures from before in with the new and will not show all of the new....so frustrating!!!  I even close out iPhoto and go into the photo album and all the photos that synced up which are the ones I do want are all there....it's so different than what I see the album in iPhoto.  Why Apple WHY??

  • Can't find photo that was edited in photoshop in iPhoto

    Hello,
    I do all my photo editing in Photoshop Elements 6. I save the edited photo in the iPhoto library (same place as the original photo), but when I go back to iPhoto, I cannot find the edited photo, only the original. Any idea where it is or how I can view it in iPhoto? I am using iPhoto '08.
    Thank you!

    Ozark:
    Here's how you should be using Photoshop Elements 6 with iPhoto:
    Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
    If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.

    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
    I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.≤br>
    Note: There now an Automator backup application for iPhoto 5 that will work with Tiger or Leopard.

  • Cutting lines text in Illustrator?

    I need cutting lines for text. When I use a font which has characters that are attached, the cutting lines ( menu Type > Create Outlines) of each character overlaps the other. How can I create cutting lines without this overlap?  Thanks very much!

    But that is also possible Jacob without converting to outlines.
    But this includes the inner shapes.
    But we are both guessing what the original question was

    First off it would be good to learn how to use iPhoto - editing is one of the most basic operations - what version of iPhoto do you have? Have you watched the videos and looked in Help?
    In general you select the photo can click edit - to straighten you use the "Straighten tool" - to remove areas around the photo you use the "crop tool"

  • If i edit a photo in iPhoto on an ipad will iPhoto on my macbook pro have the edited version as well

    If i edit a photo on iphoto on my ipad and then conect it to my laptop will it
    save the changes i made the photos on the ipad or will it revert them to
    the original version which is the verion they are on the macbook pro?

    iPhoto on the iPad and on your Mac ar completely different programs. They do not sync in both directions.
    If i edit a photo on iphoto on my ipad and then conect it to my laptop will it
    save the changes i made the photos on the ipad or will it revert them to
    the original version which is the verion they are on the macbook pro?
    When you upload photos to your iPad bysyncing albums and events to it using iTunes, and then edit some photos, and connect the iPad again and sync again, then the synced albums will be replaced on the iPad by the new set of albums. The changes will not sync back to iPhoto on your Mac.
    If you want the edited image to appear on your mac, savea new copy to the camera roll and then connect the iPad to your Mac. Import selected photos from the camera rolll to iPhoto.
