Editing DC MetaData

Hello,
I am currently working on several Development Components with NetWeaver, and need to manage the use of some DCs by others. All the resources I found indicate the DC MetaData entry in the Web Dynpro Explorer using the WebDynpro Perspective, but it does not appear (I only have Web Dynpro/Dictionnaries/Src) in my explorer.
Could you please help me with this ?
I have Netweaver version 7.1.0 ; Build id: 200502091746.
In advance, thank you.
Laurent

hi. sorry i wasn't clear.
if i go to File > Document Properties > Description i see about five tabs and i would like to read up on these to make sure i understand them. on the bottom left of each is a HELP icon that seems to take me to an online help document and on the top right it seems to let me download a pdf help document.
i can't figure out how to print the information in the online help document (the one that first comes up) and when i go to the downloadable pdf i can't figure out how to search for the topic that the HELP icon shows me...
i really want to just print the information that first comes up but even my Snagit screencapture sofware can't capture it so i would have to do a series of scrolled screenshots which is a real pain.
TIA

  • Editing XMP metadata in Bridge for checked-out files?

Our custom connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability because we do not want to change the XMP of a file in our DAM system without checking in a new file version.
However, when a file is checked out through Adobe Drive, we would expect to be able to edit its XMP metadata in Bridge just like we can for local files.
It looks like this is still not possible with Adobe Drive 3, i.e. if your connector does not implement the WRITE_XMP_METADATA Capability you cannot edit XMP for checked out files either.
It seems weird that you can edit XMP metadata for checked out files with regular CS applications but not with Bridge. Is this something that is expected to be fixed in a future version?
    Thanks

In our design, editing XMP data in Bridge and in regular CS applications is different, the former one will be routed to SetXMPHandler in you connector, in the latter case, CS applications take the normal file writting ways to embed XMP data in the file content.
The purpose of this design is to offer similar user experience for normal users when they edit XMP data for AD assets and local file assets, they don't need to check-out files first.
To address your issue, I think you can add some codes in SetXMPHandler to auto check-out files before real XMP operation, and check-in them before exiting the handler
We will consider to make some enhancements for this part, that's, to allow editng XMP data for the checked-out files in Br, in the next release, thanks for this advice.

  • Problem with Bridge CS4 reading/editing XMP metadata added in Bridge CS6

Please excuse me if this is a dumb/obvious question. I did try searching the forums for similar problems and didn't find anything that seemed to speak to my issue.
I'm having a problem where Bridge CS4 won't read/edit xmp metadata (specifically, keywords and descriptions in the IPTC panel) that I have entered using CS6. it will read some files, not others. The files are all .mp4s. Of these files, I can read/edit IPTC panel metadata for some of them in Bridge CS4; I can add metadata for all of them in CS6. I see no particular pattern in these files to explain what is and isn't read/editable in CS4.
My question is whether this is a compatibility issue between different versions of CS (in this instance, CS4 and CS6). i know it's a tired refrain to blame software when it could easily be user error, in which case I'd be frankly delighted to know what i'm doing wrong. Please bear with me as I give a few more details.
I'm using macs. I've tried this on multiple systems - for instance, on a mac pro 3 which for some reason has both CS4 and CS6 installed, i can add and edit keywords using CS6, but not when using CS4. Again, in CS4, some .mp4 files read/edit, others do not.
Bridge CS4 blames the files and tells me that the selected file cannot store xmp metadata, and that the properties cannot be modified. To be specific, in the metadata panel it says "this property cannot be modified"; in the keyword panel, it says, "This file (zzz.mp4) cannot store xmp metadata. No changes will occur." This seems odd, because I'm able to add xmp metadata for the same files in CS6 on the same computer, and other computers. I know this problem would disappear if all our computers were using CS6 (or CC), but unfortunately that's not a possibility at the moment. Some of them only have CS4.
Computer details (not an exhaustive list, but two instances): mac pro 3.1 running snow leopard, 16GB memory; macbook pro 4.1 running snow leopard, 4GB memory; adobe bridge cs6 (5.0.0.399) and cs4 (3.0.0.464).
    Things I have tried:
Permissions - the files are set to read/write for everyone. Given that I can add/edit metadata in CS6, it doesn't seem to be a permission issue.
Purging the cache - other users seem to have had problems adding metadata in Bridge CS4 where purging the cache for affected files solved the problem. Didn't work in this instance.
Upgrading all affected computers to CS6/CC is beyond my control. I need to figure out why CS4 won't let me read/add/edit xmp metadata, if only for the sake of understanding the broader implications for interoperability.
Any helpful suggestions would be much appreciated.
    Thanks,
    Kevin

    adobe bridge cs6 (5.0.0.399) and cs4 (3.0.0.464).
Without having experience with mp4 files and metadata my observation is that you certainly have not updated Bridge CS6 ( should be 5.0.2.4) and I believe also not the latest version of CS4, can't imaging this also stayed at .0.0 so first try to update both.
And if CS4 can read the data of some files it should be capable of reading them all. Be sure to have the files completely cached first, can take a while.
Other things to try in CS4 is refresh preferences (hold down option key while restarting Bridge and choose reset prefs).
And also check for hidden cache files using menu view/show hidden files. Sometimes those cache files can be troublesome between versions.
If purge cache did not work and reset prefs also failed consider to also delete Bridge plist file and Bridge cache file manual (from user library)

  • LR 2.7, How to Edit Copyright Metadata at Export?

Attempted to edit metadata but my changes aren't saved...that's one issue.  So, I created a new metadata preset can't quite figure out how to select the new preset at export; I'm unable to change the metadata preset to the new one at export screen. Chasing my tail on this one. Any ideas about how to change the metadata used at export will be a big help, thanks.

I know it isn't answering the question but why not do it before export? G for grid view, Ctrl-A to highlight all, edit copyright metadata and press enter, wait for it to update, export.
I apply photographer info metadata, including copyright etc, at the import stage using a preset.

  • How to get iTunes to update artist/album folder names after editing file metadata

If I edit the metadata for a song, such as the song title, it updates the actual file on my computer as well. However, if I edit the album name or artist name, it does not update the artist or album folders. Is there a way to force iTunes to do this? I have music coming from 3 different sources, Amazon, iTunes, and CD rips, and it's very common for artist names to appear differently from different sources. I'd like to be able to just add everything to iTunes, update any inconsistencies, and then have those changes automaticaly be reflected in my \iTunes Media\Music folder. Is that possible? Otherwise I end up with multiple folders for the same artist.

Check the option to Keep iTunes Media organized under Edit > Preferences > Advanced.  The Copy files to iTunes Media folder option should also be checked if you want to make sure that all media is stored under the iTunes Media folders.

  • ITunes freezes when editing video metadata

    Hi,
So I am trying to organize my video library and to do so I need to edit the metadata for the video files. When I do this, iTunes just stops responding.
All my video files are located on my server.
I have uninstalled and re-installed iTunes to try and fix this.
Tried googleing for an answer for awhile but no luck.
Anyone know a fix to this?

Codec packs are notorious for causing iTunes problems.
Try searching c:\windows\SysWOW64 for files with Quicktime in the name.
    There should be just two:
    Quicktime.qts
    QuicktimeVR.qtx
If there are any other files or folders, try dragging them to the desktop ot any temporary folder.
    Does that make any difference.
After doing that, do you have the latest Quicktime installed, if not update it.
    http://www.apple.com/quicktime/download/win.html
Earlier versions of Quicktime can upset iTunes.

  • How can I edit movie metadata?

I have a couple of films I was given copies of, and want to put them into iTunes, but it doesn't show much information. I can't edit the metadata to incude director and cast or any of that. Is there any way to do this?? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Select all the images and then choose "Batch Change" from the Metadata menu.
Make your changes. It will append the metadata to the existing, unless you click the "replace" checkbox.

  • Possible to edit the metadata for iTunes music?

I'm trying to consolidate my iTunes libraries from 3 computers onto one. I used senuti to transfer my music from my MBP and another iMac onto my main iMac via my iPod and must not have specified that I wanted to import the metadata along with the tunes themselves. I now need to sort my music by "date added" and find that a whole chunk of my library shows the date/time of the senuti imports instead of the date the songs were originally added to iTunes. As a result, since all of the imported songs show the exact same date and time of being added, when I sort by "date added" I get a long alphabetical listing of all the songs I imported, instead of listing them album-by-album.
Is there a way to edit the metadata for the music I senutied, so I can have the correct "date added" info for the albums?

Sorry I wasn't clear about the Time Machine reference. I was explaining my reluctance to roll back to a previous version of my main library if the changes I had made to the MBP library were going to prevent me from importing its .xml.
    Chris CA wrote:
Once you import the songs, you should be able to import the iTunes library.xml file from the other libraries to update this info with the songs you just added.
How exactly do I do this? As a test, I tried making a new library and importing just a few songs, all of which came in with today's date. Using the WAG approach to importing the .xml, I tried using "add to library" and selecting the .xml of the real iTunes library. Nothing happened. I then tried "import playlist" and selecting the real library's .xml, which triggered the import of all of my songs, all with today's date. I suppose that today's date could be a function of using a just-created library for my test, but...
Clearly my guesses were off the mark, so I could use a little more guidance.

  • Edit IPTC Metadata using Photos?

It's not replacing Aperture. That's now abandoned. If you're a serous Aperture user time to make other arrangements.

  • Unable to edit dng metadata in 3. party software

    Dear sirs.
I am trying to use Picasa (3.9) face detection feature to update all my photos metadata.
It works fine with jpg, byt changes are not/cannot be stored in dng files.
I hope thats a bug that will be fixed asap.. (?)
I am using windows 7(64 bit), and Lightroom 4.1 64 bit (problem was also in 4.0, but as far as i remember not in 3.x but not sure)
Please get back to me about it being a bug, or a "feature". And if its a bug, when will you fix it.
By the way - i have also tried to edit metadata in Windows Explorer properties window, as well as in Windows Live Photo Gallery.
I DO have installed the Adobe dng codec for windows
    Kind regards,
    Tore

    OK Thank you David.
I will have to look into that.
BUT i dont think it should be necessary.
Isnt it a bug that the metadata cant be edited in any other software than from Adobe?
You wouldnt need a plugin then.
After editing the (jpg) pictures metadata in Picasa, i step back into lightroom --> Select all the pictures and click "Read metadata from files."
And bang - all the names etc written from Picasa is avaiable in jpg´s.
    - But nothing in .dng´s...

  • Cannot edit DC metadata of a project

I have checked out DC in writable mode. ie from inactive DCs
but in the project, i am not able to edit the DC metadata part.
and i am able to edit the web dynpro component part
this problem started after i re imported a model which was already added in the Used DC in my project
the changes of the model after re import are also not seen in the web dynpro component ( as i am using this model in used models in my web dynpro component)
i thought that after re importing the model i should go to used DC of the project where i have included this model project and add it again for the changes to be reflected, but i am  not able to do so as i am not able to edit the DC metadata of the project.
i checked in, removed from client and re imported the project.
    but still no help
the message when i try to edit the DC metadata is -
"The DC definition could not be checked out : The file .dcdef is checked out by others.!"
    kindly help. thanks.

    Hi Dipti,
Particular DC is already checkedout by some one.because of that it is not allowing you to checkou. You can check the version of metadata file and who has currently checkout that in DTR perspective using view version graph option.
Hope this will be useful for u.
    Thanks,

  • Exploring and editing pdf metadata

    Adobe FOrm
Looking for either an Adobe or third party solution such that I can explore and edit my pdf metadata.  I have hundreds of technical and journal documents 9somewhat organized).  But search for a particular article can be a daunting experience.  I've seen a number of third party application which will allow me to visually explore my pdfs files but was wondering if there is an Adobe solution or a recommended third party solution some of you might use.
    Jeff

Adobe Bridge can edit/search/display the XMP metadata in lots of different file types, but it's only available as part of a collection (e.g. a Creative Cloud subscription).

  • Editing Geo metadata

Although it's quick to add Long Lat geo data from the map with pushpins. Is there a way to add the data by coordinates. I have a number of images where I took separate GPS readings and saved as waypoints. I cant import these as a track. So is there a way to edit the Lat Long metadat section.

If you have lat and long in a format that Google Maps supports (ex, "39.294886N 123.785191W"), you can click on the photo, go to Metadata | Assign Location, and type or copy/paste that into the "search" box. Aperture will list the nearest "system" location to that spot ("Mendocino Headlands State Park"), and you can click that, then click "Assign". This will NOT put the picture at the "center" of that system (or local) location (in this case, across the "Big River" from the place it is actually put), but will place it as close to the entered coordinates as Aperture's Places can get (there seems to be some granularity there, and it's a bit unpredictable ... I entered coordinates from a dropped pin and Aperture couldn't select those coords in the Assign Location dialog, oddly enough). You can see the specific GPS coords of any picture by switching the "Metadata" pane of the info panel to the "GPS" data set (the drop-down just below your camera settings box, to the left).
Now this adds that "location" to your "My Places" list, which might be annoying. You can then go into "Manage My Places" and delete the place (the pictures "placed" there will remain assigned to the GPS coordinates).
Alternatively, you can use something like HoudahGeo like we used prior to Aperture 3.0, which might give you more control (then use the Metadata | Update From Master command to read in those GPS coords written by the other tool).

  • Muse CC 2014 Crashing when I try to edit Page Metadata / HTML section

Muse CC 2014 is crashing consistently when trying to edit Page Properties / Metadata / HTML.  It appears that if I try to do Copy Paste of some text into this box, without already having a blinking cursor in the box, that Muse crashes with the error displayed in the attached image.  This has happened several times now.  I am running using Creative Cloud in OS-X 10.9.3.  To get here I right-click on the page, page properties.., click on Metadata, click in the HTML... box and CMD-V to paste.  I have pasted the text several times successfully.

This is a know regression issue in RoboHelp 11.0.3. The only workaround for now is to open the SLP files with notepad or another editor.
You can report this issue at: https://www.adobe.com/cfusion/mmform/index.cfm?name=wishform&product=38 Though Adobe is already aware of this issue, this form gives them an estimate of how many people are using this feature. And the more people report it, the more likely it is to be fixed quickly.
    Kind regards,
    Willam
