Editing disabled

Hello Hosts and Moderators,
Editing is disabled today. At least between 13:00 and 17:30 GMT today (Saturday 21 January 2006).
Symptoms:
- Impossible to edit directly from a freshly written Reply.
- Impossible to edit from a Reply in a Thread.
- Possible to edit only once when using a Reply's Preview.
Is this yet another disabling of a good feature?
I hope it is only temporary (this one too...), as I find it a very important and useful tool for spelling names correctly, avoiding bolding or italicing errors, mistakes in URLs etc.
BTW yes,
I type in TextEdit first (often)
AND yes,
I use level4 (very often).
Should I organize each of my postings even more from now on?

Thanks for all the hard work on developing the New Discussions software since the 14 November... I hope it was worth the price. It does bring ONE enhancement, this software: no limit to the pages size.

Is it that some servers (or some specific areas in the world) are affected and some other not?
It reminds me the times when I was not able to write Cocktail (offensive...) while others could.
By the way, there is another bug at the same time:
As I can read my Reply, still on top it says "Replies: 0".
Both on top of the thread or on top of the Topic List, this for quite a long time like several minutes.
Additional info:
- My "My Posts" list of all my posts is not affected. Updates immediately.
- Awarding a "Helpul" (Charles Minow, 21-Jan-2006 18:48 GMT) worked normally.

Edit Disable Panel Grid Alignment does not affect the Positioning of Front Panel Labels

In LabVIEW 2010, when I choose Edit>> Disable Panel Grid Alignment the positioning of Front Panel objects gets much finer so that I can make small adjustments. Put it does not seem to affect the positioning of front panel object labels. These object labels still move in very coarse increments and do not allow me to position them carefully.
How do I turn off the Grid Panel alignment for Front Panel Labels?

The positioning of labels you encounter has not so much to do with any grid, but with the fact that for labels, LabVIEW attempts to snap them to one of the control corners if you get close enough to the owning control. Outside of a certain range of the owning control you should be able to place them easily on any pixel. The snap behaviour of owned objects is not configured through the panel grid option. I'm not aware of an option to disable this behaviour, but usually find it rather handy instead of annoying. If it happens to not be exactly as desired, I adjust with the label selected and using the cursor keys.

Export for edit disables layers

I am trying to use Lightroom 1.3.1 with Elements 6.0. Exporting images as Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments disables all Elements layer options; they are dimmed. Yet my only options when working with RAW images is this export. Opening original images in PSE6 restores all layer functionality, so this appears to be a Lightroom issue.
I've asked Adobe support for help & received this response:
"Lightroom will flatten the image data if you choose Edit a Copy or Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments in the Edit Photo dialog. In order for Lightroom to send layer information to your external image editing application, you must choose Edit Original in this dialog."
I have searched for further information without success. Does anybody else have experience working with Lightroom and layers in their editing programs? I love the extra features of Lightroom, but would like to continue editing with layers in Elements as needed. Upgrading to PSE3 would be expensive, and now I doubt it would even solve the problem.
This is my first post in any Adobe forum. Any help is appreciated.

Lee, I did not mean to imply I disagreed with their response, only that it was not clear how it applied to my question. When I queried them again, it was made clear that exports to Elements should be made with an 8-bit file if you plan on working with Layers. I'm posting it here in case it helps others since I could not find this information anywhere else.
"My previous response was based on the assumption that you were missing your existing layers but still had the ability to create new blank layers in Photoshop Elements.
If you are unable to create new layers, the likely cause is that you are sending 16-bit images to Photoshop Elements. Photoshop Elements can only edit layered 8-bit files. To send your images to Photoshop Elements as 8-bit files:
- In the Edit Photo dialog, select Edit a Copy with Lightroom Adjustments or Edit a Copy.
- If necessary, click the triangle to the left of Copy File Options to expand the options for this section.
- Set the Bit Depth dropdown to 8 bits/component.
- Click the Edit button."

I have a batch file that looks like this below. It is a tool that we use to support the NBC software in use in over a 1000 computers some on a domain some off.

This BAT file worked without any issues in XP using the settings at the top BUT in Win7 I receive the message "Registry editing has been disabled by your Administrator" message.
By setting the GPO setting to "Not Configured" the BAT file works but we do not want to give users any access to the Registry.
Why does the /s setting not work in Win7 but works in XP?

My thinking is you could achieve what you wanted if it was domain based group policy as you could filter your admin accounts from applying the GPO so it wouldn't take effect for them, but would for non-admins.
But i don't think you can filter out the local policy in the same way - it's been a long time since i've used local policies - so there may be a way to do it - i'll take a quick look.
It's actually possible to do exactly this kind of filtering on the local group policy nowadays. At least in Windows 7/2008 R2.
It's not the same nice kind of filtering as you have on domain GPOs where you can select specific groups or users but you can setup different User Configuration for Administrator and Non-administrators.
Start MMC elevated and add the Group Policy Object Editor snap-in.
When the snap-in is added you have the possibility to change the target of the Policy Editor from the default Local Computer. Click Browse and select the Users tab and chose to edit Administrators or Non-administrators.
You can add them both to the console to simplify editing.
hopefully that should do it for you, if you just edit the local policy for non-admins.

Why does editable disable keylisteners?

I have a JCombobox and I have made it editable. For some reason doing this disables the key listeners. I am trying to get have it get the key released and search for any item in the list that would be like that one. Sort of an autofill method. Anyone have any idea of how to have things auto fill in a JCombobox. Similar to the aim (AOL instant messanger) screen name box.

Editing disabled in Live View

I've been scouring the web trying to figure out why I'm unable to edit thing in Live View with Dreamweaver CC. When I click the Live button everything in Properties and Insert etc. is disabled. All the tutorials I've seen for Dreamweaver CC everyone is adding/subtracting elements in the Live View but for me it's all greyed out and not possible. I've looked for options to enable editing in live view, but I can't find it anywhere in dreamweaver. Please help!

Live View editing is only available in CC 2014.1 (October release).
If you have an earlier version, CC 2014 or CC 13, you won't have that option.

Error Message, user exits, and editing disabled problem.

HEllo I recently had an assignment where I have to create a user exit with an error message. I had no problems with the error message but after an error occurs, with this line:
<b> MESSAGE ID 'ZSD' TYPE 'W' NUMBER '002'.</b>
the fields have become disabled and there seems to be no way to enable the fields for changing. Is there a way to fix this. Thanks people and take care!

Oh, TYPE E, when issuing an error message, all fields are disabled unless you tie it to a field or group of fields. This is commonly done by using the CHAIN...ENDCHAIN statements in the PAI of the screen. Do you have access to this? I assume that you are issueing the message from within a MODULE, right? You are probably calling this module in the PAI flow logic of the screen. You will need to do something like this.
Here P_BUKRS is the screen field and CHECK_BUKRS is the module where you are checking the value and issuing the error message. Using the CHAIN, you can tie other fields to the check so that they are also enabled when the error message is issued.
CHAIN.
field p_bukrs module check_bukrs.
ENDCHAIN.

I have a requirement in the ABAP webdynpro where I have to disable(Make the field as non-editable) the field(or that ALV cell alone) in the ALV after the user has inputed in that field.

Hi,
Use the following approach :
1. Create an ALV and create an inputfield cell editor for the column that you want to make editable/disable.Refer this tutorial for creating an [Editable ALV|https://www.sdn.sap.com/irj/servlet/prt/portal/prtroot/docs/library/uuid/3133474a-0801-0010-d692-81827814a5a1]
2. Now under the same node create an attribute EDITABLE type boolean and bind this to the readonly property of the input field. Include the following code while creating Input field for binding.
lr_input_field->set_read_only_fieldname( 'EDITABLE' ).

How to disable the cell from being edited

how to make a column in a jtable ineditable .i.e when i click on a column in a table the cell is highlighted and the caret is show .
due to this i am unable to use the double click on the left button coz as soon as i click once the left button the cell becomes editable and the caret appears.
i wanna make it in editable / disable the editable option of the cell can anyone tell me how

That's no problem if you're using DefaultTreeModel, you just rewrite the isCellEditable(col,row) function.
For example here, you can only edit cells of the first column (but you can test each cell separately if you really want ;-) ):

Disable Oncellclick- Tableview

I'm using Tableview with iterator, in the event GET_COLUMN_DEFINITIONS I've sat my event on a specific column as below:

In the RENDER_CELL_START, how can I disable the oncellclick event? I've tried to use image object, but its missed the index when I push the icon.

My point of view is, your going to operate something in table view and based on that you going to edit/disable the edition of a particular feild.
For this one suggestion is, Based on the selection, you can have your own logic and set some flags. Based on the flags, you can edit/disable the column in GET_COLUMN_DEFINITION itself.
Otherwise, as you asked, in the "RENDER_CELL_START" you can follow the below piece of code, so that you can get the value entered and modify as per your requirement on get_column_definition.
case p_column_key.
when 'JUSTIFICATION'.
     just = m_row_ref->VEND_JUST.
     p_replacement_bee = CL_HTMLB_INPUTFIELD=>FACTORY( id = p_cell_id

Disable fields based on value selected from first list box.

Hi All,
I am facing a problem in module pool programing. My scenario is there will be around 50 fields in the screen , within that first field is a drop down list box. In the list box there will be electricuty , gas and csw. If user select gas then the fields corresponding to gas will only be editable other fields not relevent to gas will be non editable(Disable).... Same case for electriciy andcsw also.
Can any one guide me regarding this....

Checkbox in ALV is disabled ?

Hi All,
I am displaying a checkbox in an ALV. While creating the fieldcat I have marked the following :-
- checkbox = 'X'
- edit = 'X'
But, the checkbox is somehow displayed as non-editable(disabled).
How do I enable the checkbox ?

If you have not manually disabled the input... then i think its because of the SAP GUI version........
If you are having an older one.. you might have this problem.. we too faced a similar problem...when we were using SAP GUI version 640... which got resolved after we upgraded to version 710

I can't disable the root user

The OS X says:
"You should disable the root user if you have no further need of it. A root user can modify and delete any file in the system including system files not available to other users. Having an enabled root user on your system eliminates an important layer of security for your system."
In order to disable the root user (System Administrator), the OS X says:
Open Directory Utility, located in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Open Directory Utility
Click the lock to make changes, and then enter an administrator name and password.
Choose Edit > Disable Root User.
The problem is that the option Disable Root User is not displayed. There is only: Enable Root User
Is there any other way for removing the System Administrator from the users log in options, when the computer starts?

Hello Kappy.
There is something weird about this issue.
When I bought the machine, the vendor opened it and initiated the system for the first time at the store.
He typed some random stuff and told me I could change it at home.
Later, when I tried to open Safary, a keychain asking for a password always appeared, but It wouldn't block the access. It was just annoying. I didn't know any password, so I followed the manual to change the original password.
I don't remember exactly what happened, but after initiating the system with the start up disk 1, and setting a password for the "My Account" user, that password still didn't work for unlocking the keychain.
Then I started again with disk 1 and selected the other option: System Administrator (root), setting a password for it.
After that I could operate the access to keychain.
In System Preferences > Accounts display, the only available user is the original one that the vendor typed at the store, and under its name, referring to it, there is: "Admin"
So it seems that there is two Administrators, but the root one is the most powerful, and it always appears in the login options under the name "Other..."

Adf: disable button

I have table(simple) and bottoms: Insert, Delete, Edit.
How can i set bottoms Delete and Edit disabled when table is empty?
I try to set Disable = #{!bindings.Delete.enabled} for bottoms, but it didn't work.

Assuming you are talking about af:table? If so, put the command buttons for Edit/Delete in the selection facet instead of the actions facet. If there are no rows in the table, then the edit/delete buttons will not show.
