Editing iChat status menu doesn't show in menubar icon

Instead of having various status menu options ("surfing the web", "at home", "out to lunch", "in a meeting:", etc.) I prefer to edit the list down to just "available" and "away"
When I edit the status menu from the buddy list drop down (by deleting the other options) my changes are reflected in the buddy list. However, the menubar icon still shows all of the preset options "surfing the web" etc.
Does anyone else notice this? Is this expected behaviour?

I later went into my com.apple.iChat.plist file and found two variables - "CustomAvailableMessages" and "CustomAwayMessages". After deleting all but the first blank line, they went away. (Make sure you make a backup!)
I also deleted them from com.apple.iChat.StatusMessages.plist file.
It was tricky, but I finally managed to get it so I only have available and away (in addition to the current iTunes song) as away messages in my menu bar. After I deleted the above, I had to go in and delete my custom edited away/available messages in the buddy list menu.
MAKE SURE YOU MAKE A BACKUP OF THOSE FILES BEFORE YOU TINKER WITH THEM. You can use TextEdit I believe, but I use PlistEditPro to edit them.

I have the same problem with podcast playlists. When I go to the music window in my iPhone devices section, the playlists I have created on my macbook pro in iTunes do not appear as an option to sync with the iPhone. I know some web radios streams, like the BBC, won't transfer because of compatibility issues, but the playlists of podcasts that I have created consist entirely of podcasts downloaded from the podcasts section on the iTunes Music Store. They used to show up and sync properly before I upgraded to OS 5.1.1, but now they don't.
Does anyone have a fix and am I right in surmising that the cause is a glitch in OS 5.1.1?

Cannot generate a Key. Manage Account menu doesn't show up even after following Help articles. Correct username, e-mail and password. I already have a Firefox Sync Account but cannot Add a Device. No way to Sync due to no Key.

Spry pull down menu doesn't show in IE6

I'm learning DW.
I used spry pull down menu for main navigation bar, and it is
working in Firefox, Safari, and Opera. Then I asked my client who
has IE6 to look, it doesn't show spry menu bar, it is white, and
pull down doesn't show.
I researched and tried but I couldn't figured out. (although

Synchronise my iphone 3 but itunes 10.3.1.55 doesn't show the iphone icon

When I connect my iphone 3 with itunes version 10.3.1.55 on my laptop itunes doesn't come up with an icon for the iphone so I can't synchronize my data (agenda, adresses, apps, foto's, music etc.) Is there a possiblility to instruct itunes to show the iphone icon?

For some reason SpeedGrade updated through the Application manager. I tried downloading the updates from adobe's website but it won't install. Prelude's update fails before it can even get started whereas the extension manager does install but it doesn't seem to be updating.
I've done as much investigation as I can think of and I'd rather not create a new user just to check that out but if I have to I will. How exactly do I create a new user on a mac?

"Window" menu doesn't show a list of all my open tabs in Chrome, Safari nor Firefox

It's a weird thing, but recently, I found that the 'Window' menu item Mavericks is not showing a full list of the tabs that I have open in any of my browsers. I've tried with Chrome, Firefox and Safari. I even tried uninstalling Firefox as a test and reinstalling to see if it was app related. But same problem. I think this is something buggy in Mavericks that's going on.
I tried using the Onyx tool for Mavericks to see if the maintenance scripts would help, but to no avail. I wonder if running the scripts awhile back was even perhaps the source of the problem? In any case, very annoying, does anyone have any idea on how to fix this, barring a clean reinstall of Mavericks?

This isn't possible in default Firefox, and not even in the upcoming Firefox 4 (that has Tab Sets already in the prebuilds of beta 4). I understand this is a big deal (Tab Sets in Firefox 4 will have a tab search feature, which should help things a bit) for users with many tabs on many windows, so I believe there should be some extension that helps cases like yours. Where is the render queue in Cinema 4D Lite? My menu doesn't show it

I'm having a problem rendering a short animation from Cinema 4D. I began the project in a computer lab, where there's the obvious Render Queue setting under the Render menu drop-down. My problem is I'm now working at home with my CC downloaded version and there's no Render Queue setting. Additionally, when I check the render settings, there's no filetype or filename specification for rendering. Attached are screen shots.
How do I set a filename so I can render and save my short animation?

So I figured out my own problem. For anyone else who might happen upon this thread, hope this helps.
At the lab they must have C4D Full (or whatever the full version is called), and at home thru CC I only have Lite. That's why there's no render queue and no ability to set a filename or filetype within C4D.
The workflow I had to do is import the C4D file into an After Effects comp, and then the Cineware rendering options show up in the effects window. Last word of advice is if you need to render out an object buffer to be used as an alpha mask, make sure you select "Standard (Final)" or "Standard (Draft)" under the Renderer dropdown.

Pop up menu doesn't show up after upload

Toolbar menu doesn't show quick tools

It seems that my Adobe Reader upgrade to XI has messed with my toolbar. All of the default tools are not shown; they can only be accessed through a dropdown menu on the toolbar. There also aren't any quick tools and I can't even figure out how to get them onto the toolbar. Here's what my toolbar looks like, someone please tell me what happened and how I get it back to what I'm used to...thanks!

I actually don't know what "quick tools" are; it seems that all the default tools show on your screenshot.
You can configure your toolbar using the View menu.

The "Podcasts" menu doesn't show up anymore

My ipod no longer shows "podcasts" as a menu option anymore. The podcasts themselves still synch with no trouble, and I can find them by using the "search" function, but I'd much rather peruse the podcasts via the menu. Any thoughts on how I might make the option accessible again? Not sure how I removed it in the first place.

Edit PDF dropdown menu doesn't remove item

I recently tried a program from Bare Bones software called Yojimbo. I didn't see the value of the program and removed it. However, now I have a menu item in my print dialog PDF dropdown menu that is for saving the PDF to Yojimbo. I've done a Spotlight search of my drive and have removed every instance of Yojimbo. But, the menu item is still there. When I click on the edit menu option it will remove it but it's not really gone because the next time I select an option... there it is again. Where are those things stored? How can I get this item removed from the menu? Help!

Thanks for the help. I was telling my son about the problem and he found it in about 2 minutes. I had gone to the library/pdf services folder and it wasn't there, as I mentioned. BUT, I hadn't gone to the library/pdf services folder IN MY USER. Come to find out, there was an alias file there and we threw it away and ... voila, it was out of the menu list. My question now regards WHY Spotlight didn't find it. It was an alias pointing to the root library file. I guess Spotlight can't find aliases. Hmmmmmmm!

Planning Menu Doesn't Show Options to Access Composite Forms

I have a menu in Planning that links to a composite form. Only administrators see the option when the menu is used in the form. Non-Admins have all of the appropriate security and this problem only occurs with composite forms.

'Help' menu doesn't show

When I click on ‘Help’ in iMovie, ‘Help’ goes dark, but no menu drops down. I have never seen this happen in any other app. How can I fix this?

InDesign Extensions menu doesn't show up after inDesign update

Hi all,
First of all, not sure to reach the perfect spot here but have no clue on a better place, so feel free to point me towards the good forum if needed.
I have made a InDesign CS6 Extension which worked fined at some client's place. They updated InDesign and since then the extension menu no longer appears within InDesign. The menu itself is not hidden in the menus preferences and yet it's not here.
Does anyone have ever experienced this ? Any workaround ?

Hi Logi_aigon,
You can launch Extension Manager CS6 and manually remove the extension, and try to install it agian. If it still does not work, you can send the zxp file of your extension to [email protected] If it is too large, you can send the mxi file or manifest file only.
