Editing in iPhoto app

Hi, I can't seem to figure out how to get certain edits to stick. I can apply an effect, but then when I tap another icon, for example, to change the exposure or colors, my photo reverts back to the original without the first effect I applied. How can I continue to make edits on top of one another?

Delete all items in System Preferences > Users & Groups  (or Account) > Login Items
Same for HD > Library > StartupItems
And make sure there's enough free space on the startup disk.
Right or control click the MacintoshHD icon on your Desktop. Click Get Info. In the Get Info window you will see Capacity and Available. Make sure there's at least 15% available space.

  • How can I delete photos in the "Edited" album in the iPhoto app on my iPad??

How can I delete photos in the "Edited" folder in the iPhoto App on my iPad?

What a pain...you must go through all that to remove it?! So many unessary steps!
I also find that when I sync up a new photo folder to replace the old set that I previously wiped out and replaced it staggers afew pictures from before in with the new and will not show all of the new....so frustrating!!!  I even close out iPhoto and go into the photo album and all the photos that synced up which are the ones I do want are all there....it's so different than what I see the album in iPhoto.  Why Apple WHY??

  • How 2 get edited photo from iphoto app back into iPhoto?

I have the new iPhoto app.
I can't seem to get my edit photos back into iPhoto on my imac.
I thought save to iTunes would do it but it doesn't seem to do anything.
Sure would like to just go back to my mac and find the photo updated.
I have the photo stream turned off and just sync with a cable.
    Problem 2
The photos and albums seem to be in random order.  This makes it almost impossible to find the photo I want to edit.
    Can anybody please help?

<If you are using the cable: Connect your iPad > open iPhoto > select your iPad on the left under devices > Import <button top right of iPhoto (blue button).

    <Do not import through iTunes.
Sorry - that was no help.
If I edit a photo in e iPhoto app then connect and bring up iPhoto on my mac the iPad device has no photos to import.
I have imported hundreds of photos from iPhones and iPads - I know how to import.
Even if there was a photo laying there to import - that is not what I want because...
Imagine if I had 100 photos then edited all 100 photos on my iPad.
Then if I imported them I would now have 200 photos in iPhoto on my mac.
I want the edited photo to update the original just as tho I edited it in iPhoto on my mac.
So I could "Revert to Original" if I needed to but probably never would.
So the question is when you share to iTunes where does it go?
Also the new album it creates "Edited" - What's the story on that?

  • Very disappointing why do I need a camera on my iPad to manage edit photos in new iPhoto app?

Very disappointing why do I need a camera on my iPad to manage edit photos in new iPhoto app?

That's just a visual differentiator so folks can easily tell if it will run on their machine. The difference is the RAM and processor in the iPad 2 and iPad (New). The camera has nothing to do with the physical requirements.

  • Transfer edited photos from iPhoto app on my iPad back to the iMac

    Dear all,
I've edited some photos on my ipad using the iPhoto app and I would like to have them transferred back to my iMac.  Can anyone please show me the required steps?  Thanks.
Note: I've tried plugging in my ipad to my iMac and opened iPhoto on my iMac but it seemd like I could only transfer non-edited photos from the iPad.
    Million Thanks,
    TMK

Turn on PhotoStream on your iPad and in iPhoto on your Mac. They will sync to your Mac.
    iPad - Settings > iCloud > photoStream = on.
    Mac > iPhoto > preferences > PhotoStream > enable

  • Does the iPhoto app export edited TIFFs in their original format and resolution?

I'm interested to know whether the iPhoto app allows editing of TIFF files and then an option to export that edited TIFF file at its original resolution.  If not, what app allows this kind of photo processing?
    Thanks!

So far as dragging the file "out of" the Lightroom content area I think you'll find that it works the same way as Bridge (i.e. the sidecar does not travel with the original file). In the Bridge you need to use the Move To or Copy feature if you want the XMP sidecar to travel.
So... In Lightroom, how is it properly done then?
I shoot RAW only, and I have found occasion where I would like to collect a copy of the RAW files to give to someone else for editing. While I might be able to use the Windows Explorer, what am I supposed to do if the images reside in different directories? I can't export them because Lightroom doesn't let me export a RAW copy (in other words, I can't export a CR2 file and end up with a CR2 file outside of Lightroom), and I can't drag and drop them because 1: this doesn't work on Windows, and 2: the sidecars don't copy with the RAW files.
Thanks for the tips and info.

  • Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

Photos does not support external editing like iPhoto. Is there likely to be an upgrade to change this or will I abandon Photos for software that does support editing in Photoshop?

iPhoto does work and there is an upgrade:
Go to the App Store and check out the Purchases List. If iPhoto is there then it will be v9.6.1
If it is there, then drag your existing iPhoto app (not the library, just the app) to the trash
Install the App from the App Store.
Sometimes iPhoto is not visible on the Purchases List. it may be hidden. See this article for details on how to unhide it.
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4928
One question often asked: Will I lose my Photos if I reinstall?
iPhoto the application and the iPhoto Library are two different parts of the iPhoto programme. So, reinstalling the app should not affect the Library. BUT you should always have a back up before doing this kind of work. Always.

  • How can I reduce the size of the iPhoto app on my iPad?

The size of the iPhoto app on my iPad is huge (8Gb) although I only have one journal with 50 photos. It looks like it duplicates all the photos I have on my iPad. Hence the huge size! Is there a way to delete photos from iPhoto without deleting them from the iPad? Thanks.

It looks like it duplicates all the photos I have on my iPad. Hence the huge size! I
iPhoto does not duplicate all photos on the iPad, it just shows them in one place.

    Ways to import photos
All of the photos and video clips in the Photos app on your device automatically appear in iPhoto. You can also import photos into iPhoto from other devices and computers, other apps on the same device, or a digital camera (if you're using iPad).
What iPhoto will duplicate, are photos that you edit, or tag, or use in journals. The edited versions will appear in a separate "Edited" album,  see:  What are albums?
To delete edited photos from iPhoto, revert them to "Original", then you can delete them.
The quickest way to free all space iPhoto is using, would be to uninstall iPhoto and then to reinstall.
You will need to share all photos that you want to keep to the Camera Roll.

  • Is there a mini-iPhoto app for iPad?

I am searching for a mini-iPhoto app to make an iPad a useful travel tool for me.  It is perhaps best to first describe what I am NOT looking for.
    NO:
    1.  Facial recognition
    2.  Photo editing (okay, a little crop would be nice)
    3.  Overlaying graphics
What I have in mind is something to use down time in travel to download the camera, cull out the losers, arrange the remainder into events or other catagories, and add a few key-words to stay with the photo.  Might start the trip with a sub-set of an iPhoto library exported from the iMac's iPhoto's monster  library that needs culling, catagorizing into existing events, keywords added, etc.  On returning home, synch back with the iMac's iPhoto library.
The MacBook Air does a super job of this, but the iPad offers some conveniences the Air does not provide.
Any help?  Maybe an iPad S/W developer looking for a next project?
    Thanks.

  • Aperture with new iOS iPhoto App

Is there any reason to get the new iPhoto application if using Aperture on my mac? Does it offer any viewing advantages on iPad/iPhone over the standard photos app? Can you even sync from Aperture to it? Grateful for any experiences.

Ok, just a sec, I have to take back what I said.  I just got to thinking about the various possibilities, and some of what I said was wrong.  So I made a few tests.
It seems that Photostream actually does have RAW support, but only in one direction.  If a RAW file is imported to a Mac, via iPhoto or Aperture, the it's placed into Photostream as RAW.  Any other Macs with Photostream turned on will receive the RAW file, while iOS devices will see a reduced size jpeg in the Photostream.  The interesting thing that I didn't expect is that the same thing happens with RAW files imported to an iPad via the CCK.  RAW is imported to the library, placed in Photostream, and Macs get the RAW, while iOS devices get reduced jpegs.
Edits made to RAW photos in iPhoto for iOS and saved to the camera roll appear as jpegs everywhere in the Photostream, however.  So depending on your workflow, let's say you import RAW files to your iPad, make edits in iPhoto (or any other app) and save back to the camera roll.  You'll be able to open Aperture and see BOTH the Original RAW and the edited jpeg in the Photostream.
Again, this is more a feature of Photostream which can be taken advantage of in Aperture.  It doesn't matter what iOS editor you use.

  • Export RAW photos and edits on iPhoto library

I imported several RAW photos to my iPad2 with camera connection kit and then I edited them with iPhoto app on the iPad2. Now I want to import them to my iPhoto library on my Mac but if I import them, the changes I made on iPhoto app aren't transfered to my iPhoto library.
Does anyone know how can I transfer photos and changes to my iPhoto library on my Mac?
    Thank you.

Connect your iPad to Mac, launch App "Image Capture", choose iPad and save your photos in RAW format to Mac. After - add photos to iPhoto Library

  • Aperture integration with new iPhoto app

    Do these programs work together?
I do not use iPhoto on my mac, just Aperture 3.  I don't need or want to add another layer of complexity to my work flow, however, if this new iPhoto app is better and more intergrated into the Apple ecosystem than, say, SnapSeed or one of the other very good iPad apps, then I'm all for it.
    Any ideas?

You do not need to use iPhoto on your Mac to use iPhoto on your iOS device. iPhoto on your iOS device will edit pictures from the camera roll on the device.
If you want to sync pictures from your Mac TO your iOS device, you can choose to use Aperture or iPhoto in the iTunes preferences. No need to switch to iPhoto on the Mac. However, if you're already editing pictures on your Mac, you don't really need to edit them on your iDevice as well...
If you're using something like the Camera Connection Kit with your iPad and want a better photo editor while you're on the go, you might wait to see just a little bit and see what kind of reviews the new iPhoto for iOS gets and maybe someone can compare the features for you.

  • Is there any way of ordering prints from the ipad iPhoto app

I hope there is as it would be a huge omission on apples part especially as we're supposed to be "post PC".

Edited images from the iPhoto app can be saved to the Camera Roll.  Images from Camera Roll, Photo Stream, Synced with iTunes or just imported from a camera card can be ordered via this newly released free app:
    http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/roes/id533327862?mt=8
I hope this helps a little.  I know it's not in iPhoto but the prints from a true Professional Lab.

I have reinstalled Mac OSX 10.6.3 and done the updates from there.
I have reinstalled ilife 11 from disk and done the updates.

Is there any way to get a replacement -  /Library/Frameworks/iLifeSlideshow.framework/Versions/A/iLifeSlideshow
