Editing in Photoshop changes the exposure.

When I send photos to photoshop, they come back to Lightroom noticeably lighter even If I don't edit the picture in Photoshop.  I'm using Lightroom 4.2, Photoshop CS6, images are RAW, and OS is Windows 8.  Any help would be appreciated.

Okay in Photoshop the color settings are Adobe RBG (1998), the color management policies are Preserve Embedded Profiles, the Conversion Options are Engine-Adobe(ACE), Intent-Relative Colormetric, and the Settings in North America Prepress 2.  In Lightroom Edit in Adobe Photoshop CS6, File Format is PSD, Color Space is Adobe RBG (1998), Bit Depth is 8, Resolution is 240.
The images look the same in both apps before saving.

  • Adding a preset to an already edited photo without changing the edit

Can someone please help me with adding a preset to already edited photos without changing the edit.  Basically I will edit an entire wedding and then I go back and pick out favorites for my bride and like to add the same artistic edit over them.  Since they are already all edited to my clean beautiful photo, (color balance, exsposure, editing for maybe none ideal lighting during ceremony) I would think there would be an easy way to add a preset without having it change all my adjustments I made so to speed up my process.  I know If I bring my photos to photoshop and bring them back into lightroom it pretty much resets it to basic, but I am sure there is an easier way to do this rather then having to open photoshop.  Thanks in advanced!

Ensure that the "artistic edit" preset only includes the adjustments that are necessary. If, for instance, it
should add a vignette effect, then make sure the preset doesn't include other adjustments like exposure, because that will make the preset override the carefully-chosen exposure in the clean beautiful version.

  • When using printer Epson R1900 with Aperture 3 and if I mistakenly choose the wrong paper such as, epson's luster instead of glossy, does that change the exposure? Like make it too dark one or two stops!

    Hi,
If you choose the incorrect settings for printing, yes - the print quality will be affected.
Different papers absorb the ink differently, so you can end up with prints that are too light, too dark, or have a colour cast if you make incorrect choices in your Aperture or printer settings.

  • When I select Brush, changing the exposure changes the whole image exposure

When I select Brush, changing the exposure supposed to change only the selected part exposure.
In my LR-5 it changes the whole image exposure.  What am I doing wrong?

More than likely you have all the adjustment tool's sliders hidden, and you've thus moved the exposure slider from the Basic panel just below, which of course is a global adjustment. Check the dark arrow that I've highlighted in this screenshot, it's likely pointed left (everything hidden), so click on it and it will point down and all the adjustment brush sliders will be revealed.

  • Editing in Photoshop changes metadata

I never had a problem with Aperture 2, but since the upgrade to A3, I've noticed that when I edit an image in Photoshop (CS3), the time that it says my image was taken changes by 13 hours. This is particularly annoying since I generally sort my projects by 'date taken', and this moves them all around. Does anyone know what may be causing this?

Hi... actually last night I kinda figured out the bug and i'm not sure if its in Aperture or photoshop but i think its aperture...
I'm still trying to figure it out a little...
    So here's my reckoning..!
I have an image that has metadata time 14:51:20 lets say... and its (Dublin IST) when i export the image to photoshop it gets handled a little different ... photoshop file info says GMT+1 (as its summertime now) so when i save the file and send it back to aperture AP3 interperts the data and adds one to the time resulting in the time now being... 15:51:20 and therefore moving it out of sort order... this is something to do with the timezones set in both applications but I can't work out how to edit this in either.. I'm assuming AP3.0 gets its timezone from my mac and perhaps PSCS3 gets it just from the file and treats it in its own way...???!!
Any ideas... looks like a slight bug to me.. but I'm not sure which app is causing the problem...

  • Photos originally edited in LR3 change the Develop options in LR4

Hi, when I access in Lightroom 4.4 a folder which had been edited originally (and imported) in Lightroom 3, the options and settings for Developing and editing in LR 4 change to appear like the old options in LR3 (Exposure, Recovery, Fill Light and Blacks, instead of Highlights, shadow, whites and blacks etc..).   Does this make any difference?  Why is Lightroom 4 doing this.  Most of the files I am trying to edit have not been touched before in LR 3 but were simply imported originally into the catalogue from LR3.  Is there any way around this?
    Thanks.

This happens because photos originally edited in LR3 (called Process Version 2010) do have different sliders than photos originally edited with LR4 (called Process Version 2012).
Your photos edited in LR3 should not change their appearance by leaving them in Process Version 2010. If you change them to Process Version 2012, your photos will most likely need to be re-edited, as the appearance will change when you change the Process Version.
Use Settings->Process->2010 or Settings->Process->2012 from within the develop module to convert back and forth.

  • Edit templates and change the look and feel of apex UI

    Hi Friends,
I am trying to change the look and feel of apex pages(change the alignment, color etc) and try to edit the template
of apex pages. Please give me links or tutorials that helps to accomplish this,
    Thanks,
    Tj

    Hello Tj,
You can spend some time on how to create your own Template, but it comes down to design your site in html and then break it into pieces and change the Templates in APEX with that html.
In that html you use tags e.g. #BOX_BODY# to tell APEX where the forms and reports need to come.
In the doc there are some explanations too: http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/appdev.32/e11838/themes.htm#BABBFHJA
I think the best method is to just try it. Sure we give a course on that too, so it's up to you if you need training on that or the doc/your tries are sufficient or not.
Once you know how things work you can do pretty much everything.

  • Editing photos without changing the originals

I'm brand new to any Apple applications and thus far I have not been able to figure out how to keep my originals after doing any editing ie. croping or color enhancing. Can anyone tell me how to copy or save a seperate photo file? I have attempted it but the original forlder changes as well.

Can anyone tell me how to copy or save a seperate photo file?
Are you using iPhoto? The good news is you don't have to do anything, the application does this for you.
No matter what you do, iPhoto always works on a copy. So if you crop, or enhance, edit in any way, export, your original is untouched and a copy is made with your changes. Look at your menu bar. Check out the Photos Menu, at the bottom of the list is 'Revert To Original'. You can use this if you dislike whatever you've done with the photo, or just want to start again.
In the iPhoto Library Folder you will see various files, which are the Library itself and some ancillary files. Then you have three folders
Originals are the photos as they were downloaded from your camera or scanner.
(ii) Modified contains edited pics, shots that you have cropped, rotated or changed in any way.
This allows the Photos -> Revert to Original command.
(iii) Data holds the thumbnails the the app needs to show you the photos in the iPhoto Window.
However: It is strongly advised that you do not move, change or in anyway alter things in the iPhoto Library Folder as this can cause the application to fail and even lead to data loss
Anything you wish to do can - and should - be done within the iPhoto Window. If you want any help doing things, by all means post again.

    Hello all,
I'm learning to use photoshop and could really use some help! I need to cut and paste an image from one photoshop doc to another. This I can do just fine, but when I do, it resizes the image I pasted and makes it smaller. Since I'm wokring with scans that need to retain their exact size, this is not good.
Can anyone please tell me what I'm doing woring?
-Also, the piece of the doc I'm cutting from is a little bit bigger than the 8..5 x 11 letter size doc I'm pasting into.

  • How can one edit a .gif file graphics background and change the fonts in Photoshop Elements 13?

I am trying to change the color and fonts of some of my web sites .gif files. Can I change the color to another hexadecimal color and change the fonts of the letters in Photoshop 13? I am using Windows 7 and heard that you could save the .gif file to another format, edit it, then change the file back to a .gif file. Is this true? If so, how do you do it? The file just has a solid color with the letters "Firm " on it. No animation.

You can edit a gif without changing the format, but once you save the file as a gif the text becomes part of the image, not text anymore, so you would need to clone or heal away the existing text and then create a new text layer and use save for web to create a new gif.
For access to the most editing tools, while the file is open in the editor go to image>mode and change it from index color to RGB. Saving as a gif will change it back to index mode.

  • LR3 - Edit in Photoshop problem

I am pretty new to Lightroom so I have checked previous posts and have read the manuals but I cannot find an answer to my problem.
I have LR3 and CS5 using the Prophoto colour profile on a Windows 7 system. I always shoot RAW (NEF) and usually use both LR3 & CS5 to process an image.
The issue I have is after processing the image in LR3, I then use, Photo/Edit in Photoshop, for the image to open in CS5, carry out a couple of further processes (crop & clone tool) and then 'save' (not 'save as'). When I view the 'Edit' image back in LR3 the initial settings have changed considerably. The image is also slightly darker. I have also experimented in carrying out no processes whatsoever in CS5 by going direct to 'save' but the same issues prevail.
An example of the difference in settings is:
    LR3 settings; Tint +10, Exposure -0.24, Recovery 46 Fill L 3, Blacks 7.
The edit version shows; Tint +1, Exposure -0.41, Recovery 23, Fill L 0, Blacks 5.
Can anyone please give me an answer as to why the settings in the returning edit version are not the same as those shown in the initial processed RAW version which is also leading to a darker image?
    Howard

With a raw file it’s conventional to send a tiff or PSD with Lightroom develop settings into photoshop.
You normally make the round trip from Lightroom.
    1) Ctrl+E in the Library to export with develop settings
    2) Edit in Photoshop; then Ctrl+S to overwrite Lightroom export copy
    3) Ctrl+W to close in Photoshop and update Lightroom thumbnail.
There should be no change to your NEF.
