can someone direct me to a faq or link to DETAILED editing instructions for using quicktime pro?
specifically i'd like to remove 'some' audio from a .mov file while leaving most of the audio intact.
no where can i find an easy to understand user text file on how to use quicktime pro...
i'm not interested in paying still more money to get a cd or any other type of aftermarket instructions...

I also have a question about video editing. The Help guide says that I can just use the I and O keys to set start and end times to be able to edit video, but I don't see any markers, nor do the keys work for me when I press them...any suggestions?

How to create a book with graphs and tables (instruction manual) in one language and create afterwards many different linked copies where just the language should be manually changed? While editing the original (graphs etc..) the copies now should change the same way except the language.

Layers seems okay, but I'm not sure to work practical on this in fact the book has 400 pages?
So if I unterstand you correctly, you meant that I should create one layer for every language and within e.g. Layer EN I will create every english textfield and so on.
I'm just not sure how to handle the different size/length of the different languages within the same document, to don't destroy formatting.
For example width of tablecolums: FR (language) wording is longer than EN wording.
For one language I need one extra line at the end of one passage..

That is very strange... I wonder if it has something to do with the firmware or some sort of error. I haven't ran into this but at the shop I work at I've ran into several firmware errors on iPhone 4 all the way through the 5s. Maybe its something as simple as putting a different part of the code into iTunes... I know you can something of this extent. I would look up error 1669, I know you have tried a number of things but look it up on the forum and see what fixes are available so that you may be able to restore it properly without all this garbage you are running into. Just a thought for you.

That should be easy enough. Click on the Canon logo at the top left here, then click on the support tab, & fill in the appropriate boxes until you get to the downloads available for your particular OS. Select what you need (1 at a time usually) & download to your computer. Manuals are usually in PDF format & they should open once downloaded & saved. That may not be true of the actual program software because it's usually upgrades to previous versions so IF you need the software you'll have to find a way to copy the discs to a jump drive or whatever your Mac can read & install from there.

I have an assignment in my class to create instructions for a specific task. Is there a Pages template for creating an instruction manual. Im wanting to make a little 20 page book. Maybe the size a 8.5x11 folded hamburger style.

Why doesn't new ipod come with instruction manual?

I was surprised when my new 30 GB ipod did not come with a thick instruction manual, but just a little quickstart booklet. Does Apple expect us to have to learn everything online? I think it is very cheap to not include an instruction book.

Are you just starting with PSE and no previous experience? If so I sympathise because I found the Adobe Help function very frustrating and unhelpful because it is features based rather than functionality in grades of expertise.
Start with tutorials on the Organiser work space and then Editor work space to familiarise yourself with the functions of the work spaces. However be aware that the you will not grasp full functionality until you have used PSE for a while.
If you are starting out wanting to process images then I found the concept of "workflow" the most useful way to approach PSE. That is;
Import images from camera
Sort images into ones worth processing. I use my camera's software to do this. Use a star rating. (PSE recognises this).
Import to PSE for processing
Process RAW images (if applicable).
Process converted images (PSD of TIFF probably the best). Use guided edit to start with.
Save processed images to JPEG for printing.

I just got my Ipod Nano and all I got was a small fold out booklet with NO instructions on acutally adding songs to my ipod. Where can I get one?? I need to know how to put songs on it from my computer and just how to use the dang thing.

Best combination of tools to edit instructional videos

I'm filming & editing videos for use as instructional aids, some of the footage is longer lectures of 4-5 hours. I have been using an SD Sony but I've just ordered the Sony HDR XR500 because I was disappointed in the quality of footage. I will need to archive the footage. I have been using iMovie but will probably upgrade this week to FCE.
What will I need in order to burn AVCHD footage to a DVD ? Would it be better to make the footage into a quicktime movie and then burn it to a DVD ? The films will probably be used during lectures, played on a mac, or a pc, which is connected to a projector.
I have been trying to make the longer movies into quicktime versions but anything over 15 minutes fails. Also the quality of the quicktime movies is poor, is there a way to increase it?

H.264 is the best codec today for archiving video, but obviously source video is better if you have the space (or tapes/cards) set aside for such a purpose.
As to best HD delivery in a Blu-Ray player for the independent guy take a look a Recipe4DVD.com or peruse the articles at LAFCPUG.org or KenStone.net.
Basically there are ways to get H.264 HD video authored by a red laser to play on a Blu-Ray deck, but it's not for the newbie unless you have the time to learn.
