Editing Lightroom files in Photoshop, still wants Plugin 7.3

I have just joined Creative Cloud and I have used it to upgrade from CS5 to CS6 and reinstalled LR 4.3.  However, when I go to edit in Photoshop, I still get "This version of Lightroom may require Photoshop Camera Raw Plugin 7.3 for full compatibilty".  I have tried to install this plugin, but Photoshop says it is already there.  How can I get Lightroom and Photoshop to work seamlessly as they should?

If this is the reason, and it may well be, I think it's almost unbelievable that this bug in the installer is still there. When you uninstall the old version it takes a lot of registry entries down with it, including many used by the new version. File associations for one thing, and apparently also links to Lightroom. It turns up in the PS forum regularly, so it's not as if it isn't a known issue.
I first encountered this with CS3 and IIRC I had to uninstall, then use a registry cleaner, then reinstall, to be able to move on. But possibly a reinstall over itself - first CS6 then Lightroom - could be enough.
Anyone contemplating removing old and presumably no longer needed CS versions: Don't. Just let them pile up until reformat-time. License-wise, it doesn't matter. If you're dead determined, uninstall the old version before installing the new.

Go to settings> general and scroll down to multitasking geastures, turn them on and by swiping with four fingers from the right side of the iPad to the left and back you can switch between apps. I think this is what you need I'm not sure, I hope it helps

I can't open Lightroom (5.7.1) files in Photoshop CC 2014.  When I Right Click and select Edit In Photoshop CC 2014 nothing happens.  I have uninstalled CC 2014 and Lightroom but no change.

What happens if you start up PS CC 2014, first, and then try the Edit In?

  • How to edit PSD files on Photoshop Creative Cloud

    Hi there,
I am new to Creative Cloud and just downloaded the Photoshop App to my desktop. However, I can't seem to find the options where I can edit my psd files. Can someone please help me? I would like to know how I can start editing PSD files on the Photoshop Creative Cloud App.
    Thank you so much!

    HI Resumeboston16,
Which version of Photoshop are you using? Photoshop CC?
You'll probably still want to save you PSD files locally to the computers hard drive. You can upload them to the Creative Cloud files page here https://creative.adobe.com/files through the browser.
Then you could download it on another computer to work on it there.

  • Problems Opening Lightroom File in Photoshop

I am trying to open a file from Lightroom in Photoshop. This worked seamlessly in the previous version (I'm now in 2.4). By choosing Photo/Edit In/Edit In Adobe Photoshop CS4...the file opens in a secondary display. I cannot then open the file in Photoshop as expected. Any ideas are greatly appreciated.
    Regards,
    Lochinvar

I too have ACR5.4 and LR 2.4. I've tried opening a file with Photoshop already open but I get the same result. The file opens in a secondary window, meaning it goes to Window/Secondary Display/Loupe Locked. This is chosen automatically when I execute Edit In/Adobe Photoshop CS4. All my files reside on an external drive but when I try the same thing reading from my MacBook drive, the file opens as expected in Photoshop CS4.

  • Edit Lightroom images in Photoshop - problem

    Hi,
I have recently started to use lightroom to eidt my images. When i go to edit with an image lightroom adjustments  from lightroom 3 into photoshop cs4 it won't allow me to save it as a jpeg from photoshop. I understand that i can change it from 16bit to 8 bit and it will then save as a jpeg but the when i send the prints to a lab (a few different ones i have tried) the images come back dull and flat. The images look fine on my screen.
    Any ideas??
    Cheers

    Hi Geoff,
Thanks for your reply. I chnaged the colour spce to sRGB and still it has made no difference - won't let me save as a Jpeg. I might chane it 8bit and get a test print done to see if it makes a difference. Thanks for your help.

  • Edit LR file in Photoshop

I would like to edit a file in PS possibly using layers. Then come back later, select the file in LR, go to edit in PS, and be able to edit the file with the layer structure in place and the lightroom adjustments in effect. At present this seems impossible. I have to choose to edit with the layers, or without the LR changes. Makes no sense.
It seems if you want to do some layer editing and not flatten the file yet, you just need to export out of LR and complete the function in PS.
    Am I missing something?

Unfortunately you can't. You're not missing anything.

  • Why can't I edit Lightroom pictures in Photoshop Elements?

I'm on a Windows PC running Lightroom 5 and Photoshop Elements 12.  Why can't I get Elements as an option when I am in Lightroom and select Photo - Edit In??  Elements is not an option there.  Can I change that??
    [email protected]

This blog will explain how to install Elements as an external editor in lightroom.  The main thing to remember it to point Lightroom to the EDITOR and not the Elements Startup screen where you can choose Organizer or Editor.  If you don't point to the EDITOR the photo will not show up in Elements

  • How do I open a Lightroom file in Photoshop? When I go to Open/Applications the Lightroom tab is not illumintated!

I have just downloaded and install Photoshop CC but I am unable to open a file from Lightroom. I can open files from 'Pictures' no problem. If I go to Open/Applications and scroll down the Lightroom tab is not illuminated and not able to open! What do I do, or what have I not done?!

In Lightroom you should be able to just double click on an image and open it up in Photoshop, or right click in Lightroom and choose edit in Photoshop. You can point to Photoshop in the Lightroom preferences under External Editing.
However, the first part of question I just answered. The second part of your question makes it sound like you are trying to open a psd in Lightroom... so I don't really know what you are trying to do.

  • Photo EXIF gone when editing LR files with Photoshop CS3

All I get is somethink like "edited in external application." How can I regain or retain original data (from Nikon D200 RAW files)?

Using LR 1.31. After editing, "Save" command used in CS3, which moves a copy back into Lightroom. (LR set up to stack CS3's edits, which possibly is relevant per Adobe KB 333740.) Files enter LR from memory card in DNG format and return from Photoshop in PSD. (Setup problem?) Using PS 10.0.

  • How to make muse edit original file in photoshop?

On my mac, it always opens the jpg in preview. Guess I could always pre-open the jpg and save as a psd... that is a workaround that would just require more time however. In that case I could simply open it in ps and work on it, then update in muse.

At present Muse relies on the operating system to decide what application opens for a given file format. In order for a .jpg to be opened in Photoshop you'll need to change the file association in the Finder. Click on a .jpg file, select File:Get Info and choose Photoshop in the "Open with" section and hit Change All. Note that this has the down side that double clicking on a jpg in the FInder will now open it in Photoshop, which may not be what you always want.
Having specific "Edit Using Photoshop..." and "Edit Using Fireworks..." features is something we'd like to add, but haven't gotten to yet.

  • I am trying to edit VOB files and Photoshop cs6 ext. won't accept them.

I am trying to edit some VOB files from my daughter's wedding CD.  But Photoshop won't accept that format.  I read that I could just change the extension to AVI  and drag them in.  I did that and it opened  them but the video and audio didn't sync.  The size was distorted but I figured out that I could change the aspect ratio to widescreen from the view menu which looks pretty normal.  But I see black lines on the sides of the video.   What do I have to do to be able to edit the video??
    Thanks

VOBs are multiplexed MPEG-2 DVD files and they adhere therefore to the DVD spec - 720x576 pixels, 1.43 pixel aspect ratio. Anyway, you are wasting your time. The files will need to be converted in an external tool to be usable in PS and even then the question is how much sense it makes to edit video in Photoshop, especialyl when it contains audio. Premiere or other edit programs would be much more adequate.

  • Editing .tif file in Photoshop, then can't save as .jpg

A problem I've never encountered before. I have a few pictures that were scanned as .tif files. When I import them into Photoshop and work its magic, then save as a .psd file I can then not save the file as a regular .jpg. The jpg option does not appear under Save As. For the record I'm using PS 4 with Windows 7 (64). To the best of my recollection I've never had this problem before. Help.

Thanks. As it turns out in a fit of unexpected insight I just had figured that out. I know my way around PS pretty well, and hadn't thought of that. I appreciate your responses.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 3.2 doesn't open file in Photoshop

    Hi,
I've just made a complete fresh install of Lightroom 3.2 and Photoshop CS5 extended on my new iMac (OS 10.6.4, x64)
Now I'm trying to edit raw-files in Photoshop CS5.
Normally a popup should appear to ask in which format the photo should be opened in PS.
But no popup is shown, Photoshop starts immediately, but without actually opening the photo.
If I configure Photoshop as secondary editor this problem does not appear, and everyting works fine.
But in that case I miss the option for a secondary editor like for example DxO...
    What to do?
    Regards,
    Menno

    Menno,
I can't help you with your primary problem, as I'm not a CS5 user.
But regarding your second concern with having CS5 as a secondary editor and therefore not having the option for additonal external editors:
You can have as many external editors as you like, e.g. CS5 as one, DXO as one, Nik Viveza as one and so on. All you have to do is create different External Editor Presets in Preferences for each desired external editor.
