Editing Masthead in Portal

I have downloaded from the Portal the Par for the Masthead in the Portal, to try and edit the JSP.
I need to place my own company banner and logo, but was unable to find where in the code I need to edit.
Please advise

You can open par file using winzip. extract to local folder maintaining the par file folder structure. make changes to the JSP pages and then zip it.

Editing Masthead area in portal

Can anyone tell me how to edit the data in Mast Head area. I want to remove help and personalize links.

Hi Anmol, what do you like to translate?
If you refer to "Welcome" message, enter to SAP and go to SPRO > Employee Self-Service > General Settings > Homepage for Self-Services > Headers and Area Group Pages > Define Headers, then copy the SAPDEFAULT entry from Define Headers (Add Entries) to Define Headers (Change Entries) activity. This is to make your custom entry.
Then, go to Define Headers (Change Entries) select the row of your new SAPDEFAULT and Goto menu > Translation, select your language and press continue, then change the welcome text.
Take in count you have to have installed this language in your ERP first.
If you refer to text links from Portal Header, you can go for Portal Translation.

Try to create the Flash and upload it to replace the masthead using Systems -
>Portal Display--->Themes...

You will have to play with all the options under the theme. It's best to pick one of the SAP templates, modify it, and save it as NEW. Try to upload the flash image for the masthead to see if it would take it.

Error while trying to edit in Bea Portal Administration Content Management

Hi,
we are exploring the weblogic portal administration 9.2 and we encounter an exception when editing a content in the Content Management feature. We use the weblogic default workflow, we create a user attached to a group, add that group to a role, then delegate the edit and view capability of a content node in the Content Management to that role, we login using the respective user, check out the content, try to edit the property but then the exception occurs.
It says "A Repository Exception was thrown: User does not have view privileges on the node"
the detail exceptio on the property page was:
"javax.servlet.jsp.JspException: Could not find a node at the key: nodeReqAttr
at com.bea.jsptools.content.node.ViewPropertyTag.doStartTag(ViewPropertiesTag.java374)
at jsp_servlet._contenet._node._nodeselected._properties._listpropertiescheckout._jsp_tag46 ...."
Could u help us what step we went wrong, because we previously try this in the WLP 8.1.4 portal administration the exact same step but never encounter this error before.
And is there anyway I can atteched screenshots to help better explain this problem?

You have to set your activex control properly. then only edit locally in KM will work.

Where is the "DELETE" tab in Edit User in Portal?

Hi,
Portal version 3.08 on solaris. I logged on as Portal30. Go to Login Server, Administer User, Edit a user, and I saw a DELETE tab for that user. I can delete a user there.
However, if I go to Edit user under the Create user portlet. I chose a user to edit,
but I don't see a "DELETE" tab, I only see tabs like: "Reset to Defaults", "Apply", "OK", "CANCEL".
Why?
In portal 3.0.7, NT, I can see the "DELETE" tab in both places. Is this a change for 3.0.8?

I check this in Portal308, deleting user from login server is not equal to delete from portal. In PORTAL30.WWSEC_PERSON$ table still remain personal details of deleted user.
Is it bug or right functionality?
For me it is some kind of bug. When you re-create user in sso server it tooks over all pers. data from old user.

Allow Other Users To Edit The User Portal

HI all,
Is it possible to allow another user to modify my User Portal without making them a full Admin?
Out HR Dept. would like a tab for their content and would like to edit it themselves.
I'm not keen as they would probably hose the entire site.
Any ideas if this can done?

Hi - I believe the issue is related to java versions. I experienced the exact same problem, and the issue was removed.
Several small issues in Java Report Panel with unintended behavior is very often related to too old java versions.

How to edit a standard Portal page in NWDS

I'm looking for a guide explaining how to pull a standard Portal Web Dynpro in to Netweaver Developer Studio, make changes to it, and deploy the changed copy to the Portal.
I have experience with the Portal and with adding ABAP Web Dynpros to it, but I'm new to NWDS and Java Web Dynpros.
I've searched online extensively but haven't been able to find a guide explaining how to access the standard Portal Java content.

Hope you mean to edit WebDynpro java application in NWDS. In this case, You need NWDS (on your desktop) and NWDI (to be configured on java server) to modify any standard WebDynpro java application.

Editing table personalization (Portal)

Hey guys,
if you have a table in web dynpro and the application runs in the portal the user can personalize the table with CTRL + right click. In the popup menu he can hide / display columns as well as change the order.
I want to set this properties initial in web dynpro. Is there a API / way to do this ?

Customizing portal masthead

Hi Team,
We have a requirement where in the user can change the portal language (English and German) after logging into portal by clicking on respective country flags which should be enable on masthead. Portal personalization role is already enable for the users but they want a link directly on masthead for changing to language English and German.
Incase anyone of you worked on similar requirement can you please share the process/feasibility of the task and any cons in implementing this on masthead.

Well i have not done simillar requirement but you can refer to SDN itself. If go to SDN masthead, there is any option for language change. On click of that option an url parameter is added and portal is redirected to it. Probably you can take idea from here.
It is actually calling a java script function ... below one

Error editing a Portal form

I experience the following error when trying to edit a valid Portal Form:

I had the same problem.
The remote table has to be a PUBLIC synonym. Drop the existing synonym and re-create the PUBLIC SYNONYM. It should work now.

Edit Localy : request authentication on the Portal server

Dear All,
When I do an "Edit Localy" on a document, the system comes with a pop-up requesting authentication on the portal host.
I do have administrator rights on the portal host.
It does not accept any user, the only solution to go forward, is to click on "cancel" ... and then it is working )
The same error comes at the end of the document editing.
What is very strange, is that with some other desktops I do not have the pop-up, and I've no idea why (I did already check IE parameters, I tried with user that are not admin of the portal server, ...)
Do someone have an idea ?

Hi,
maybe some computers not in same domain as portal.
You need to be in the computer administrator group to edit locally.
The computer's microsoft office need to be updated.
The settings in url generator of portal are wrong.
EDIT:
If your portal server is in a domain, it's url in the url generator must include the domain name.

Integrate website in portal!

Hi,
I have a website (which just has bunch of HTML pages), I need to integrate them into portal. what would be the best approach?
1. create URL iviews, but the look and feel would be completely different from Portal look and feel.
2. since the source code of the website is available, just copy all of them into different folder on the same file server and use SAP PORTAL class tags in the html pages and integrate using appIntegrator.
3. copy all the HTML pages into KM repository and create KM DOCUMETN IVIEWS.
but if i take up approaches 2 and 3, isnt it just like developing that website from the scratch, as we have to change each and every HTML page and also change the references inside those HTML pages...
please help.

you could also recreate the masthead for that user having to view the website in portal with the header of the website and if you want to try this edit your webpage by cutting the header of the website since that will be your masthead in portal and just include the remaining part of the URL as the URL iView.
(if you want to consider that as your second option)

Language dropdown in Masthead iView

Fllowing is the weblog which has described about how to show language dropdown for anonymous users.

My requirement is:
Even though user is authenticated user, we want to show the language dropdown to change the user language.
I know we can change this user language from personalization link if user is authenticated. But, we want dropdown to be shown on the masthead iView.
I have changed masthead iView JSP application and i was able to display the dropdown even though user is authenticated.
On dorpdown element, we have onSelect event and on this event, I am calling one Javascript function called, "onSelect_Language". Somehow this function is not being called.
For testing, I have written code to show alert only.
So, it should show the alert and i can confirm whether function is being called.
But, i am not getting any alert.
Can you please help me?

The same type of drop down we can set it in the logon page easily.
Make it available in logon page and try to change it to masthead using the same code.
I never tried.
We created the below fuction for different reason check it once may be usefull
     Create a javascript/ directory in the par structure
     Add the file customBranches.js in this directory
Edit the file PORTAL-INF/jsp/HeaderiView.jsp in order to call the Branch Dropdown.
