Editing Mp4 in Cs5

Hi,
I have an Mp4 (that I had shot before with a Canon GL2 and edited it to a MP4) now I am trying to RE edit it, but whenever I export it, it is jittery. I am wondering what my source settings should be? (import) Should I set the settings for MP4 or the original footage?) And when I export should I still export to H.264? (since that is what it already was?)
And a second question is does Premiere Pro cs5 have a program like Live Type that has preset text with motion?
Thanks so much in advance, I appreciate ANY advice, I am tired of banging my head against the desk!

I would guess that the mp4 is a progressive video file and you have used a DV preset to re-edit.
As you are editing an mp4 file you need to initially use a sequence with settings that match the file.
To use a mp4 compatible sequence drag your file from the media window onto the new icon at the bottom of the window.
Then when you export make sure that you match the pixels 720x480 or 576 ( depends where you are)

According to the publisher For GoSystem Tax, the 32-bit version of Internet Explorer 8, 9, or 10 is required.  Which means it can't be accessed from an iPad.  This seems weird.  I would recommend you contact the publisher.

  • Distorted picture while editing MP4 file in Adobe Premiere CS5

    hi,
I am trying to edit an MP4 file in the Adobe Premiere CS5 and having a distorted picture every few seconds.
When I am playing the original file using VLC or Media Player it looks OK.
Untill now I didn't have problems with editing MP4 files.
Did anybody had similar problem (and a solution )?

    Thanks,
    Miki

Not a problem; not scolding, just suggesting that users there might be of more help, since CS5/CS5.5 is a whole different animal than CS4.
I suspect that, if setting playback to full resolution didn't help, there's not much you can do with these files as they are. You'll have to convert them to something else. Does the break up appear when you step through the video frame by frame? If not, you could use AME to convert these to something else, which will then let you edit a little more effectively in Premiere Pro.
EDIT: Sorry, missed that you said that exporting retained the blobs. In light of that, you'll have to look at a third-party converter to flip these. MPEG Streamclip for Windows might work.

  • LR 4 vs LR 3 Edit In PS CS5 changed?

In LR 3, when I would EDIT IN Photoshop CS5, the file would just open in PS. In LR 4.0, it saves  "-Edit.psd" files and opens those in Photoshop. It does this for old raw files from old legacy folders, as well as new ones that were shot with a Nikon D4.  Although the raw plug-in should be irrelevant, because this happens before the hand-off to Photoshop, I do have Camera Raw 6.7 in Photoshop, which works fine.
Can anyone tell me how to NOT write those "-Edit.psd" and go back to the Lightroom 3 behavior? I'm on a Mac.
    Thanks!

    Let me try this again.
    Workflow on my Mac:
    Lightroom 3.4 Camera Raw 6.4
Click on a raw file. Go Edit in Photoshop CS 5 <CMD><E>
Photo immediately opens in Photoshop CS5.
No intermediate file is saved, no obvious cache file is created. If you click on the title line of the open file's name, the path to the open file goes directly to the original raw file.
    Lightroom 4.0 Camera Raw 7.0
Click on a raw file. Go Edit in Photoshop CS 5 <CMD><E>
Lightoom progress bar on upper left opens and "Preparing file for editing" starts the thermometer. A file is saved named "DSC_xxx-Edit.psd" is saved in the same folder as original file. Photoshop opens the new PSD file, not the original raw file.
Send the same raw file from LR4 to PS again, and you get another file named "-Edit-2.psd"
The preferences for the "External Editing" are the same in both Lightrooms.
So Lightroom's internal workflow has changed. I prefer not to have that new "DSC_xxx-Edit.psd" file saved.  My workflow wants the file saved after the Photoshop edits, in a different folder, with a different name.
So can we have the old workflow back?  The one without files saved at every transfer to Photoshop? Is this a Camera Raw plug-in change?

  • Will QuickTime Pro Edit mp4?

I own the Madonna: The Immaculate Collection on DVD. I have converted the VOB file to mp4, but it is 62 minutes long. Every video is included in the one file. I want to break the videos down individually for my iPod. I don't mind spending the $30 to upgrade my QuickTime to pro it it will allow me to do this. If not, does anybosy know another program ($50 or less) that will? I've also read some user reviews on QuickTime. Are there a lot of bugs/issues with Windows XP? Thanks.

    Will QuickTime Pro Edit mp4?
Yes, but it may not be the best solution in all work flows. Converting and then clipping into segments is a viable solution that will save the final product as an .mov file even though the movie is still in its original format. Reversing the work flow, however, and clipping the file into segments first is not very accurate owing to the way in which the sequential blocks of audio and video data are stored in the file.

A cheaper and perhaps better solution would be to dowload the free Windows version of MPEG Streamclip and use it. Since it employs an MPEG based player/editor window, you can accurately set in and out points for the decrypted VOB and convert the segments directly to individual iPod compatible files. In addition, filters are available to change brightness, contrast, saturation, and/or volume, as well as, custom cropping with improved scaling as part of the conversion process. In some ways, it is also easier to use than QT Pro.
I've also read some user reviews on QuickTime. Are there a lot of bugs/issues with Windows XP?
If you really don't want to use Apple's QT tools, MPEG Streamclip for windows will also use the QT Alternate software instead. I personally don't find QT to be "buggy" to any real degree. Most of my problem have been traced to use of the QT H.264 codec at low video data rates. The "predictor-corrector" routines appear to be written for use at higher data rates (my guess would be in the 2.0 mbps to 5.0 mbps range) and so tend to be slow to "clamp" video data rate excursions in excess of user settings below 1.0-1.5 mbps with certain vintage video content. As I use the Mac version, I'm stuck with QT 7 and simply make adjustments as needed for a 100% conversion success rate for the nearly 400 videos currently on my iPod.

  • Problem returning image to LR3 after edit in PS CS5.  Help!

After adjustment in LR3, I edit in PS (CS5). I finish with "save" but image does not return to LR3. I do find it in my hard drive  Photo folder. Then it's a PIA to re import to LR3 for printing.
Very frustrating, Can someone help this old guy?

    dorin_nicolaescu wrote:
The copy in CS5 does not include "Edit".
Well, that might be the problem.
First, why isn't there a "EDIT" suffix? Did you change that option on purpose?
Lightroom might be importing your Tiff as a sidecar to the original. To confirm this, you can check the Metadata panel, to see what the Sidecar field contains. If it has a tiff in there - that's the problem.
Dorin, I do not seem to be able to find a "Sidecar" field within my Metadata panel.  Is this something I have to set up somehow.  All of the examples that I have seen of using CS5 from LR make no mention of this feature, consequently, I was unaware of it. I assume this displays somehow within the Library module?  Is there something that should be turned on, or off, for this to happen.  I would appreciate your expanding on your explanation.  Thanks.

P.S. Bob,  I am not trying to hijack your thread by any means, just trying to understand something that even I was unaware of, and hopefully we will both benefit from this.

  • Duplicate TIFF files when using "Edit in PS CS5"

    Hello there,
I'm using LR 4.3 and CS5, with ACR 6.7 installed. Whenever I'm using "Edit in PS CS5" comand inside LR, automatically I'm getting a duplicate TIFF file added to my LR catalog. How can I avoid this? Thank you for your time!

    bcondoral wrote:
So this happens because 4.1 is compatible with ACR6.7 and 4.3 is not?
There are two basic behaviors regarding Lightroom and Camera Raw versioning:
If the Lightroom version and the Camera Raw version are equal (meaning LR 4.3 and ACR 7.3) Lightroom passes the image from LR to Photoshop using ACR to render the file. In this case, LR doesn't need to render the file and to the -Edit save when opening into Photoshop. Photoshop does the render and when saved, will pass that file creation back to Lightroom for adding in the catalog.
However, whenever the LR version and ACR version do NOT match, Lightroom does the rendering (to be sure of proper rendering) and save the file on disk before passing the image to Photoshop. So, if you are using mismatched LR/ACR versions, this second behavior comes into play.
As ssprengel correctly notes, there was a slight modification to these behaviors when LR 4 first shipped because it shipped before Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7 shipped. LR 4.0 and 4.1 (the quick dot release for camera compatibility reasons) were made to work with ACR 6.7 in Photoshop CS5 with the first behaviors working...
LR 4.2 and above do not have the ACR 6.7 compatibilities so the behavior of the LR render and file saving requirement kicks in.
For optimal compatibility both LR and ACR should be kept in lock-step. Since the release of CS6, ACR 6.7 is the last version of ACR for CS5, so you lose some intigration and functionality by not upgrading to Photoshop CS6 and ACR 7.x.

  • Edits in PS CS5 to show up in Aperture

How can I get photos from Aperture then edited in PS CS5 (selected as external editor) to show up in Aperture in edited form after saving in PS?

    Linda in Phoenix wrote:
Corky, you solved the problem! Thank you. Is there a way for the thumbnail image in the split view to show the Photoshop edits? I have added some text to the Photoshop image and it does not show up in the split view thumbnail, it does show up when I select it and it then appears in the main viewer.
It sounds like you need to update the thumbnail for the image edited in PS.
Browser view > select image > Photos menu. You will see options for updating, deleting and generating thumbnails and previews. Note - pressing the 'Option' key while in that menu will change the preview option to 'Generate Preview' if needed.
Outside of that, I can't think of another cause, but others here know alot more than I do about Aperture.
Also, if I do want to do some edits to the raw image, would I have to export the image to Photoshop, edit in ACR and then import it back to Aperture?
If you want to use ACR for working with the RAW file, you would want to export the Master > open in ACR > open in PS > save as TIFF, PSD or JPEG > import back to Aperture. This is because ACR and Aperture don't read each others RAW decoding parameters (it's one or the other for rendering the RAW file to a viewable image).

  • Edit mp4

    hello

we still go to tape so rendering is that final step.
That is not called Rendering, but encoding or transcoding.
In a number of cases it is important to use the correct terminology, like here. It is incorrect to say: "While sailing my car..." or "While flying my boat..."
One can avoid misunderstandings and miscommunication by using the proper terminology. OTOH, it may well be a shortcoming of the english language:
There is no egg in eggplant nor ham in hamburger; neither apple nor pine in pineapple. English muffins weren't invented in England nor French fries in France. Sweetmeats are candies while sweetbreads, which aren't sweet, are meat. Quicksand works slowly, boxing rings are square and a guinea pig is neither from Guinea nor is it a pig. Why is it that writers write but fingers don't fing, grocers don't groce and hammers don't ham?
If the plural of tooth is teeth, why isn't the plural of booth beeth? One goose, 2 geese. So one moose, 2 meese? Doesn't it seem crazy that you can make amends but not one amend. If you have a bunch of odds and ends and get rid of all but one of them, what do you call the thing left? Is it an odd, or an end?
If teachers taught, why didn't preachers praught? If a vegetarian eats vegetables, what does a humanitarian eat? In what language do people recite at a play and play at a recital? Ship by truck and send cargo by ship? Have noses that run and feet that smell? Park in a driveway and drive on a parkway?
How can a slim chance and a fat chance be the same, while a wise man and a wise guy are opposites? You have to marvel at the unique lunacy of a language in which your house can burn up as it burns down, in which you fill in a form by filling it out and in which an alarm goes off by going on.
English was invented by people, not computers, and it reflects the creativity of the human race, which, of course, is not a race at all. That is why, when the stars are out, they are visible, but when the lights are out, they are invisible.

On what computer operating system is your Premiere Elements 13 running?
If your Photoshop CS6 comes with Bridge, I am wondering if there is a way to go from
CS6 Bridge to Elements Organizer 13. From Elements Organizer 13, you could import from there
into the Premiere Elements 13 Editor.
    Quick results...
Photoshop CS5.1 Extended, File Menu/Export/Render Video
    File Menu/Browse in Bridge
Right click .mp4 export in Bridge, select Open With, select Adobe Premiere Elements 13 which needs to be set as default.
Seems 13 is opening but without the .mp4.

  • Edit in Photoshop CS5 from Lightroom 3.2 doesn't open file in Photoshop

    Hi,
I've just made a complete fresh install of Lightroom 3.2 and Photoshop CS5 extended on my new iMac (OS 10.6.4, x64)
Now I'm trying to edit raw-files in Photoshop CS5.
Normally a popup should appear to ask in which format the photo should be opened in PS.
But no popup is shown, Photoshop starts immediately, but without actually opening the photo.
If I configure Photoshop as secondary editor this problem does not appear, and everyting works fine.
But in that case I miss the option for a secondary editor like for example DxO...
    What to do?
    Regards,
    Menno

    Menno,
I can't help you with your primary problem, as I'm not a CS5 user.
But regarding your second concern with having CS5 as a secondary editor and therefore not having the option for additonal external editors:
You can have as many external editors as you like, e.g. CS5 as one, DXO as one, Nik Viveza as one and so on. All you have to do is create different External Editor Presets in Preferences for each desired external editor.

  • Can no longer edit in Photoshop CS5

I recently uninstalled Lightroom 2.7 in favor of using my recently installed Lightroom 3.  I did the same in terms of unintalling Photoshop CS3 in favor of using only my recently installed version of Photoshop CS5.  As a result, coincidentally or otherwise, nothing works right now.  When I open LR3 images and go to "Edit In", Photoshop is greyed out and so I am unable to do any editing outside Lightroom itself.
Does anyone know how I might remedy this problem?  I am at the point of total frustration with both programs and am about ready to uninstall both of them and start all over again (which I dread).  Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks much.

Just reinstall CS5. I believe you can do a repair to fix the problem. When you removed CS3 the uninstaller removed some files needed by CS5.
