Editing Music Software question?

Sorry if wrong forum, but I am trying to figure out the following. I have a G5 with iLife running os 10x. For a project, I need to edit snippets from songs and then burn all the snippets as separate tracks onto a disk (making sound bites). In my windows days, I would use a program like goldwave or so to snip off the part I needed and then burn the entire collection using Nero or another software. I don't really need to actually edit the sound bites other than to snippet them off the songs.
Can I use iTunes/Garageband or anything else to do this efficiently? If not, can someone recommend a basic mac compatible program?

I guess you could do it all in iTunes. Create a playlist of the songs you want, Get Info on each song and set the Start and End points and then burn the playlist as an Audio CD
The iTunes forum would be a better place to ask specifics.

I'm thinking of buying Logic 8 Studio, and I have some "pre-sales questions".
It occurs to me that with any other music software company, I'd be sending a quick email to their "[email protected]" email -- and getting prompt, courteous, and official answers!
And instead here I am spending a lot of time trying to get vague and unofficial answers on Google and these discussion boards.
So is there any way to contact the Logic development department at Apple by email or submission form, with pre-sales product questions? And what about for registered users -- is there actually such a thing as direct software tech support from Apple??

Not with Apple. Steve Jobs "invented" company silence as a fashionable trend. Hopefully you are enjoying this.

Nope. There is an EXPENSIVE option to get "official" support. Those who have used it, have mixed results. There is no dedicated Logic "support" team. You call in to their support center, and cross your fingers. You might get a Logic guy, you might not.

Problems with music softwares...

Ok,
I'm a music maker and I got some troubles beetween Snow Leopard and Ableton Live music software.
I'm comming here to ask you if you got some problems whith snow leopard and video or music softwares ?
I've already asked Ableton,and other music forums to help me ;
but everybody said me that my problem comes from snow leopard...( I won't explain you for the moment what is wrong , cause I don't know If you use that kind of softwares ,I'll just say that is MIDI problem...)
So I just would like to know if , at your knowledge , "snow " leopard works as well as leopard or not ???
don't hesitate to tell me if I'm not clear or if you want more details...

ok...
so , I would like to use Behringer BCR 2000 ( midi control )with Ableton live 8
by the usb mode : to control the software by this midi harware device.
BCR 2000 receive midi informations but Live doesn't receive any signal ...
_The software and the BCR 2000 are well configured

_I've done everything that Ableton , Behringer and other musicians tell me. and for everybody the problem comes from snow leopard ...

Nokia Music software - Suggestions on improving it

In the 0.000001 % chance of anyone from Nokia support / Software development etc etc actually reading this, may I make a small suggestion to improve on the Nokia Music software.
Can you please please please give us users the choice of HOW the software stores the music files onto the PC & also on the phone's memory card
Can we have a choice of whether the files are stored as 'Artist' > 'Album' > 'Track' OR just 'Album' > 'Track'
As an example of how bad this is - Using the Nokia Store & Nokia Music - I had downloaded just 2 albums done by Will Smith & transferred straight over to my 5800XM phone (w/o any editing)
I ended up with fourteen (Yes - FOURTEEN) folders on my MicroSD memory card
All started with E:/music/Will Smith (feat. ......) (followed by some1 elses name) & only containing 1 or 2 songs in each folder'
I don't know about anyone else - but I like my music stored in folders named after the Album, that way I have 16 (or more) tracks in a folder - & it looks IMHO more organisied

I've just found out another problem
It MAY be my particular setup or something - but when I browse the Nokia music 'shop' & click the 'play 30sec clip' to listen to the track (to check it's the right version before downloading it) - Nokia Music software crashes with a message of (something like)
'NokiaMusic.exe has caused a problem......'
Now whether this is because I've got 'Comes with music' or it's because my 'default media player' isn't M$ Media player or that I have 'alternative Realplayer' instead of the 'Proper' Realplayer or something totally different - it's bloody annoying
OK so I've got ~1yr free downloads - but I don't really want to download the track just to see if it's the track I really want, I'd like to 'stream' the 30sec clip before I decide

I downloaded a music software and then deleted it. It changed my homepage designation and I can't get it to change back to Firefox. I do know how to change this but it is not working. Can you help?

The music software is imesh and I have changed my homepage designation with Firefox, in my internet options for Windows. Every time I close the page, the homepage changes back to imesh search page. I have deleted imesh from my computer including going to windows explorer and deleting all imesh that I can find to no avail.

Unable to edit music on iTunes, help please.

I am having problems editing tracks. I use either iTunes, or Tag & Rename to edit tracks. I had no problems at all in XP doing this. but, I have moved to Vista and now the track if I try and edit it, it's "greyed" out. I cannot edit it with eithger program.
I moved my old iTunes onto my External HD and moved the HD to my laptop. I then copied the iTunes folder over to Music on the laptop, and it found the HD no problem, copied over playlists, and counts. It syncs without a problem and continues the counts.

It is a bit of a downgrade not being able to edit music details on the phone, but the only solution I've found is to make sure it's right before I drag and drop it onto the phone, then the issue becomes somewhat irrellivant ?

How do I move a .mp3 file I created in my music software to iTunes?

My music software now has .mp3 creation capabilities, with ID tags. I am trying to insert one file as a test (and the ID tags are filled in). In my PC running Windows 7, I navigated to Music\iTunes\iTunes music\[new folder] and place the .mp3 file there. But when I open iTunes, my file does not appear in the list. I've clicked on all the subcategories to alpha them, but no luck. How do I install this? I need to know because I am going to offer .mp3 files with a book I've written, which is being published now.

You need to open iTunes first then drag and drop the mp3 file onto the Music section of iTunes to get the file imported.

How to edit music album names - too long to display in Ipod

How can I edit music/audio album names. I don't really care about music but I have a lot of audio files and they all have the same name, followed by "Disk 1," "Disk 2," etc. The problem is that the "Disk 1" doesn't get displayed because there's not enough room on the Ipod display. I would think I could edit this in Itunes but don't see how to do it. I would like to1 shorten the title so the "Disk 1" can be displayed. Hope that is clear.

You can edit album names in iTunes on your computer.
Select all of the songs in the album, Select Get Info from the File menu, edit the Album name in the Info tab of the Get Info window and select OK.
This will change the name of the album. Note that you must change the album name for all of the songs in the album or you will end up with two albums.

Does itunes offer edited music to download

My 14 year old son wants an ipod for Christmas. I am concerned with him downloading the unedited music. Is there an option of downloaded edited music only?

You can set the Parental Controls in iTunes to disallow access to explicit music on the iTunes Store. It's not foolproof (the record companies sometimes don't correctly mark a track as explicit), but it will keep your son away from most of the problematic tracks. You'll also want to disable podcasts since there's no rating system for those.

At least Logic Pro 9 and Logic Pro X work correctly in Mountain Lion. Furthermore, Logic Pro X requires the latest OS X Mountain Lion version

Editing Music Tracks

I have just starting to play with fcp x. As a long time broadcast editor I thought it was about time to learn it.
I have done a short showreel for a friend which is a great way to learn! I put some pictures down in story order and then put a track of music down to cut too.
I needed to edit the music down to length, but I could find no way to add an in point or out point to the music track, all it did was add the in points to the video (and its audio) track above. In the end I used the razor blade and cut the music where I wanted and then dragged it back to make the edit. Also I could not get the music track into trim mode.. Is this the only way to edit music tracks? Any info would be great.

No need to use the blade tool. Just trim the audio clip by dragging the edge of the clip. With snapping turned on, it will be easy to align the end points.

I am new to Garage Band and was previously using sound forge on my PC to edit music for my Figure Skating students. Is there a basic tutorial I can read to get started, nothing seems the same.

I am new to Mac and Garage Band and was wondering if I can use this program to edit existing tracks downloaded from i-tunes etc. Is there a basic tutorial to get me started? I edit music for figure skaters so it is relatively basic, fading in/out, cutting and pasting etc.

Replacement iPhone, Unable to edit music on iPhone

I recently dropped my iPhone in the bath and upon receiving my replacement I connected it to my computer and synced it with my existing iTunes library.
All the songs transferred fine but now when I connect my iPhone and look under devices-> Liana's iPhone-> Music all the track listings are in a faint grey writing and I can't edit anything on my phone through iTunes. I've tried looking on the support pages but can't find what to do.
Help please???

Possible to edit music (delete, rename etc)without having music on laptop

Hi,
At work we are not allowed to store music on work laptop.
However we are allowed have itunes installed (for podcasts etc.)
Is it possible to connect my iPod to laptop and edit music without copying it to itunes?
If so do I then have the problem that when I connect at home that my ipod will be updated with the data on my laptop and I'll lose and changes I made?
Is there any way around this?
