Editing old site on new computer

I created a website on my G4 with iWeb 1.1.2. Have been trying to copy the site to my new macbook with iWeb 2.0.4, following instructions on other posts. The domain file is in the proper place, but when I open it iWeb opens up with its generic startup, not the established site. I've tried trashing prefs and repairing permissions, and restarting multiple times. Nothing. However, there were 2 domain files, the one of my site and one that was already there the first time I went to the location in library>application support>iweb - I assume that's a generic domain to get you started. When I trashed that other domain file, that fixed the problem. Just thought that might help someone else in the same situation

The short answer is that you don't and you can't.  You have actually saved the wrong files, because iWeb has no import facility, so is unable to open html files at all.
The files that will have been saved and which you need to transfer are the domain.sites files and these can be found under your User/Library/Application Support/iWeb/domain.sites.  Ensure that you do look in your User/Library and NOT your System Library, because iWeb is not there.
Find your domain.sites files and transfer these to your new Mac and then double click on the files to open them.
Have a look at other discussions for instructions on how to make your User Library file visible in both Lion and Mountain Lion.

  • I need to install a volume license for Adobe Acrobat Pro from an old to a new computer

I need to install a volume license for Adobe Acrobat Pro from an old to a new computer
I have the correct License Key which I checked on Adobe License site but when I enter it
    is says it's incorrect

    Problem solved,
I found the original Adobe installation files on our system that we used to first intall Acrobat Pro.
Using these files with the correct volume license key we were able to install the programme on our new Computers.
I was also informed by Adobe Help that I could also download these file from the Adobe License website after logging in.
    https://licensing2.adobe.com/
Click on Licenses / Download and then Software
Hope this might help anyone else with the same problem

If you have given correct info about you ios 6.1.3 - all you need to do is delete account. You will be able to sign in with new one afterwards. Make sure you don't delete any info when you see those prompts.

Publishing your site to a folder is useless for your purposes. You need to transfer the Domain file which created the site to your new machine.

  • Trouble publishing -  new site on new computer, want to replace old site.

I got a new a new mac with iWeb 08 - was previously using 06. Re-built website on new computer, logged in to my account and hit publish. After loading all pages etc, got message "could not publish website". Have a feeling it may have something to do with account now being MME and not dotmac....??? I want to replace the existing website with the new one but it's not working???

If you want everything that's on your current iPad onto the new one, then you can first copy all purchases off the iPad to your computer's iTunes via File > Transfer Purchases. You can then backup your current iPad and restore the new iPad from that backup (a list of what is included in a backup is in this article - it excludes music, videos, synced photos). As the backup doesn't contain the actual apps, just their settings and content, for the restore to work completely you'll need all the relevant apps in your computer's iTunes library - otherwise the restore won't be able to install the apps and therefore their content (which is one reason to do File > Transfer Purchases, if that doesn't copy them over then you can re-download them for free : http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2519).
The restore won't copy passwords onto a different device, so you will need to re-enter your email, router, and any website passwords onto the new iPad.
Depending on what you want to remain on the iPad, you can then either leave it as it is or log out of your account on it (tap on it in Settings > Store) and then wipe it via Settings > General > Reset > Erase All Content And Settings.

  • Editing iWeb sites from new MacBook

I just bought a new MacBook, and how do I transfer all my photo galleries under two site created in iWeb on my old PowerBook to my new MacBook? Is there a way to edit sites that I haven't created on iWeb on my MacBook that are hosted on my .Mac account that I published from iWeb on my old PowerBook? I still have the PB and I would prefer not having to go back to it to put new galleries under the old sites.
    Thanks for your help

You'll have to copy your domain file over to the new computer.
Open a Finder window. By default, the Finder opens a new window showing your local user area. Starting at this window, the iWeb Domain file is located inside the Library folder, inside the Application Support folder and inside the iWeb folder. It's called Domain.sites.
Copy this to the same location on the new computer and when you open iWeb, it should see and use it.

  • How to reconnect site after new computer?

I am not good using DW.  I have CS4.  I have a website and the DW files for it.  I have new drives on my computer now.  DW seems to still be looking for an old J drive which no longer exists.  It looks to me as if I need to redirect DW and reestablish a local site.  If I go to the sites window, there are no sites listed.  So I can't choose edit and designate a new site.  How do I fix the problem?
    Vaughn

I was dealing with a crash and did not export anything.
I have tried New and defined the site, pointing to the location of the files that now exist.  I am using a module from Project VII to display the photos.  That module still looks for the old J drive.
I'm not sure why I'd need a username and PW.  DW doesn't ask for one and this is a single computer--not a network.  BTW, I'm using Windows 7.

I created a website a about a year ago and I need to update it. I created it on my girlfriends account and went to open iWEB on her computer and my site is no longer there. My site loads fine and the web address is still working. However I cannot find the files in iWEB to edit the site. Please help!
I went to the index file and found most of the stuff there. How to I open all my previous work back in iWEB so I can edit the site???

iWeb stores its files in a "domain" file. The file is located in your user Library -> Application Support -> iWeb Folder.
Unless it has been moved or deleted, it should still be there. Double click it and see if it launches with your data.
If it's been moved somewhere, you'd need to find it.
However, if the domain file you were using has been deleted and not backed up somewhere, you would need to start from scratch.
    Good luck!

  • How can I get DW to access my site frommy new computer?

I was using DW MX (yes!) successfully from my old computer (XP).  But I have problems with the new computer (Windows 7).  I transferred the copy of the site from the old computer to the new, installed DW, defined the site, tested the connection to the site successfully.  When I make a change to the local copy of a page, save it, and Put it, DW says it has Put the file, but the web page doesn't update (after several attempts and refreshes).  Can anybody help, please?

  • Transferring iWeb 06 site to new computer

My mac.com site was made with iWeb 06 on my previous computer. On my new iMac, iWeb has no trace of this site so I cannot make changes. Is it possible to download the site directly to the new iMac or must I get the old computer and transfer the domain folder via a CD or ethernet?
Are there any surprises waiting for me when the site is updated by iWeb 08?

Do you have access to the old computer? If so go into the User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder on it and copy the Domain.sites file to the new computer. Put it in the same location, i.e. User/Library/Application Support/iWeb folder. If you have any domain.sites2 files in there and they are empty move them to the trash. When you open iWeb it will open that domain file and covert it over to the iWeb 2 format.
FWIW IWeb cannot import any previously published sites. It only generates them.

  • Will audition upgrade 1.5 allow me to us basic cool edit 2000 on a new computer

I have been using Cool Edit 2000 (regular) for several years.  It works fine
on my 4 year old computer.  I am concerned that it will not work on a new
computer. Will the 1.5 upgrade allow this if the tegular Cool Edit 2000 won't work?

Hey! I had the same problem you did just today when I was trying to get my second iPhone to sync. What you need to do with music or anything extra that you doing you have to creat a second playlist or picture or anything that you would like to use, so that you can add to the second device that you are going to be using. I am not sure if that will help but it helped me out a lot!! Good luck!
