  • Editing on two computers with Premiere

I have two copies of premiere elements. One on IMac and one on Macbook. Video files on external drive. I want to be able to edit same project on both. I originally started the project on macbook but IMac doesn't see the exsisting project.  Can I do this? thanks for the help

As long as you have your +source media files+ (video clips, audio files, stills, etc.) and your +FCE Project file+ on your external drive, you will be able to switch from one computer to the other for editing. Just make sure you are using the exact same version of FCE on both computers. And it will certainly help if you specify the same FCE scratch disk location (ie, your external drive) on both computers.
As for +render files+ and +cache files,+ forget about trying to use them on two computers. When you move from one computer to the other, they are unlikely to be usable. Trash them and plan to re-render when you switch from one computer to the other.

  • .mac Family pack:: questions about editing on two computers

Hey I'm new and would love some advice.
I'm a college student with some web experience. I'm helping out my folks' business by making them a website. I'd also like to have a website of my own.
    1. It would be great if I could edit their business website from my computer at college and they could update photos or info from their Mac at home. (how do I do that?)
    2. Also, if I am editing their website, do I need to be logged in as their .mac account in the system preferences?
    3. It seems that any website created is all in one file. How can I have two websites with separate accounts?
Thanks for your help! I'm still new to this.

  • Editing from two computers

I have an iMac at home that I have been editing and publishing a site from iWeb to .Mac. I now have a macbook and would like to work on pages or blogs with that computer also. I vaguely understand the issue now with the files stored on my iMac and editing and publishing from there.
If I were to store the files say on my iDisk, could I access them from both computers, edit and publish from both, and keep them in sync?
Is there another/better method of doing this without actually moving the files from one computer to the other?
(obviously, one option might be using Back to My Mac, but I would like to work locally if possible)

You can store the domain file on your iDisk.
But you have to double-click it to open it. Otherwise iWeb won't find it .
Depending on the size of the file, expect slow updates. And be prepared that when you loose connection, your file may be damaged.
But that isn't really an iWeb issue. It applies to all files you edit over a connection.
All the if suggestions you can easily find out by doing it.

  • Big trouble syncing edits between two computers

I have two big issues with syncing edits between my iMac (computer A) and Macbook Pro (computer B). My workflow has been as follows:
Import photo shoot onto computer A as DNG into master catalog. Do some edits. Export all DNGs as "Original" from shoot to desktop and copy over to computer B. Import shoot folder in master catalog on computer B, edits are held. Finish editing the entire shoot on B and export folder as a catalog without exporting the DNG files. Back on computer A, import to shoot folder from another catalog to sync edits and metadata changes.
    My issues:
    1. When edits actually do sync back on A, everything syncs EXCEPT for virtual copies, they are no where to be found. Even when exporting from B as a catalog, the dialogue box says "79 virtual copies to be exported." They just never show up back on computer A.
    2. Biggest issue. On computer A, I work in one master catalog. Some shoot folders are still on the internal hard drive while most are housed on a Drobo. It seems the reason why edits will never sync back (changes arent found when importing from another catalog) is because LR4 is only looking on the INTERNAL disk of computer A. The import seems to not look for the photos that are housed on the Drobo. I think this because whenever I try to import back to A, LR4 tries to create a new folder in the catalog on the internal disk. The below screenshot shows what I mean. 0512-SpeedyFamily is the shoot Im editing between A & B, but LR4 tries to import them back onto the internal disk (upper portion of folders) and created the ?2012 folder.
FYI - I am running LR 4.2 on both machines, just havent installed the latest update yet.

There's a simpler way to do this: synchronizing software. The one I'm using is called SmartSync Pro. I think it's Windows only, but there must be alternatives for Mac.
I have two machines, at work and home, containing identical copies of the Lr catalog (and of course all other files), using a portable pocket-size drive to transport files back and forth. Once it's set up it's a one-click operation to copy new and altered files only, stick the thing in my pocket and go home. Then connect the drive, click again, and I'm ready to pick up where I left off.
The one provision is that the folder structure is identical on the two machines, and, being Windows, also drive letters. But you don't necessarily have to synchronize a whole drive, any folder(s) will do.
Another advantage is solid backup: three copies of every file, one always off-site.

  • Install CS4 Student Edition on two computers?

    hello
in a few months i want to buy a new PC. Can i install it on my old laptop and on the new one too?
or do i have to uninstall it first?
    thank you very much

You'll have to check the license agreement to be sure, but I believe you are allowed to install on a limit of two machines, so long as you are not using both installations simultaneously.
"2.4 Portable or Home Computer Use. Subject to the important restrictions set forth in Section 2.5, the primary user of the Computer on which the Software is installed under Section 2.1 (“Primary User”) may install a second copy of the Software for his or her exclusive use on either a portable Computer or a Computer located at his or her home, provided that the Software on the portable or home Computer is not used at the same time as the Software on the primary Computer. You may be required to contact Adobe in order to make a second copy."

  • Can I install the Photoshop CS6 Subscription Edition on two computers at the same time?

I'm interested in ordering Photoshop (so not the whole Creatie Cloud but single app only) via the subscription service but I'm wondering if I can install it on my home laptop as well as my office desktop. I wouldn't actually use them at the same time, but as we all know, occasionally work follows you home.

Yes, you can. Refer to the EULA for the exact legal blurb

  • I'd like to edit my site from iWeb on two computers, is this possible?

I'd like to edit my site from iWeb on two computers, is this possible?
I started creating my site on a PB 15", but when I'm home I like the speed of my iMac and I'd like to continue the editing process on my iMac but I can't find the files that iWeb saves.
I'd ideally like to save my site on my 30gig iPod using it as a hard drive between both. I would love for this to happen but I can't find the files saved by iWeb. Is this even possible?
I've even tried linking my PB to my iMac via firewire as a hard drive. No Luck.
    Please Help . . .

I think iWeb only recognizes the 'domain.sites' file so while you can set up more than one site, they are in the same project.
Of course, the workround is to move the domain.sites file out of the default location, which them makes iWeb create a new one. You can then work on any number of projects, only moving the correct file into the default location for work on each one. Not elegant by any means, but until someone suggests a better way (or Apple produce a more flexible version of the software) it works fine that way.

  • Two computers, personal Dav Server, possible to edit from both?

I have two computers, a webhost with its own Dav server, and have setup the calendar to be subscribe only on one computer, while the other computer publishes. Is there any way I can set it up so I can edit a subscribed calendar from the subscribed computer? I want to be able to maintain it easily on the Dav server.

    Wiki?
    I sure hope not
IT seems pretty official to me: http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/leopard/wikiserver.html
    A. I don't want my calendar to appear on Wikipedia.
    B. Wikipedia I believe holds a trademark there.
Wiki is the general name for collaborative websites - Wikipedia is only one implementation of a Wiki - the trademark is on Wikipedia, not Wiki itself:

Your calendars won't be available on the global Wikipedia but rather on a Wiki (i.e., editable from a web browser) on your own server.

  • Editing Movies on two computers

My friend and I are making a movie on imovie 11 but would like to know since both of us have macbook pros if it is possible to edit one movie on two computers?
    Thanks Kundun93

No - there is no way
You could devise a Keyword scheme to identify them
You might send a note to the IPLM folks and suggest that they consider adding a feature to help or even do it
Or you could suggest to Apple a smart album selection based on edit date which would help you

  • Can two computers share same ITunes library over Airdisk?

    Hi all,
I have a Macbook and a PowerPC G5 and a Drobo (external hard drive) hooked up to my AEBS with only ITunes music stored on it.
I want to be able to edit and browse my ITunes library from both my G5 (which I can already do) and my MacBook (which I can't). When I try to change my ITunes library location from within my MacBook, nothing shows up. It's a blank library, even though I can edit and browse the Drobo (as an Airdisk) through the finder. How can I edit and browse my ITunes library from my Macbook if my G5 is also using the same library? Two more quick points...
    1) I have tried the "sharing" feature and don't want to use it. It doesn't allow editing of my library and won't show cover art.
    2) The above situation happens whether my G5 ITunes is open or closed.
    Thanks everybody for your help.

I periodically copy my iTunes library from my Mac Pro to the Mac Mini.
They aren't using a single library. Each computer is using its own copy and you have two sets of library files.  It can certainly be done that way but if between copy sessions you edit a bit of each library then it is a bit of a muddle trying to make sure your versions are synchronized with each other.  For example, ratings are stored only in the .itl file, so if you rate a song on your second computer it will get lost the next time you copy over from your first.

  • Can two computers share one iTunes library?

I am trying to map out a new plan for how we store and play music via iTunes at home. Currently, our music is stored on a windows PC and played via iTunes and an airport express.  I recently bought a new macbook and am considering an airport extreme with the hope that I can store the music on a hard drive attached to the airport extreme and play music from either computer.  Can the two computers share one library? I already have home sharing turned on and can access my library from the macbook, but if possible, I would prefer having the hard drive separate of the desktop.  Any reason this won't work?
    Thanks!

  • One mac account, two computers

I have one mac account and two computers. When I get up in the morning, I check my email. When I come to the office I recheck my email.
With my pop account through my ISP, my mail downloads at both places.
With my mac account, once I view it at home, I cannot see it at the office. Is there a way to resolve this issue.
    What am I doing wrong?
    SJ

it's IMAP. then it really should show the same messages on both computers. you can try rebuilding the mobileme inbox (mailbox menu->rebuild). but mobileme is a weird animal and is handled separately from all other accounts in Mail. I don't use mobileme so can't comment further on this, sorry. maybe somebody else who does can chime in or you could try the mobileme forum.
