Editing pauses from Sermons

I have GB08. I'm recording sermons from the audio out of a Mackie sound board with a left and right RCA jacks to a mini plug straight into the iMac. It sounds great recorded as a Podcast track with the male voice instrument. The track is about an hour long.
I want to edit out long pauses and coughs to shorten the time. Every time I select a section to delete it splits the track into separate pieces. How do I remove the section I want without the track breaking up into pieces? Is there a way to blend them back together? I appreciate any advice that keeps this in GB08 and not using another software.

Good tip, though I have a problem with this technique.
I have an GB project with 8 real instrument tracks. I split the tracks and used ctrl-del to remove the regions I didn't want. When the regions that followed the ones I deleted repositioned themselves, the automation curves that corresponded with the regions I kept did not get repositioned. My automation curves were therefore misaligned with the audio they were intended to control.
Is there a better way to remove everything from a section, including the automation curves, so that the remaining parts of the timeline will stay aligned?

Hi there. I am just strating a project, a museum installation, that requires footage to be edited together from a variey of sources. Some of these are DVDs. How can I get footage from the DVDs and into FCP for editing. I can convert into Mpeg4 using Handbrake, but can I edit this? What could I use to convert directly into mpeg2, or better still some .mov format like DV.
I apologise, all these file formats, muxing, encryption, decryption, encoding, codecs does my head in and I need some help to clarify what would be best.

Premiere Pro CS4 - editing video from GoPro video camera

I am having a problem trying to edit video from the GoPro camera in Premiere Pro CS4 (PP). Have not been able to get much help from GoPro - they just tell me to speak with Adobe. I think the video codec used by the camera is MJPEG (?). It won't play at all on the timeline. Interestingly it will in After Effects (AE) CS4 and if I export it out of AE as a Microsoft AVI file I can then play it in PP. However if I go straight to Media Encoder and import the clip and then try export the clip via ME as a Microsoft AVI the exported clip from ME won't play in Premiere Pro. I am confused. Does anyone know this camera, it's codec and why it just won't work when directly imported into Premiere Pro but it will when imported directly into After Effects. Any advise would be greatly appreciated.

I just purchase Adobe Premiere Pro a few days ago - and subsequently updated it to Ver 4.2.1. A started a new project - I tried to import some video footage I just shot with a GOPro Hemet Cam while skiing at our local mountain. I can easlily see the clip using Real Media Player - or the Quick Time player. It is a 10.9 MB ... 7 second MPEG-4 movie clip. File name is "gopro0030.mp4"
I created a "bin" called video .... then right clicked to import the file. You can see the file name in the media browser. But the file would not import. I received this error message: "109C ImporterProcessServer.exe Application Error. The instruction at "0x05efcac" referenced memory at "0x00000014". The memory could not be read. CLick OK to terminate."
This is very frustrating - I just purchased the software - and it won't import a 7 second video clip! It did import still fotos with no problem. What can I do?

How can I get the edited pictures from the thumbnails to full size?

I upgraded to iPhoto 11, the thumbnail photos show my previous edits, but when I click on the photo to make it bigger, it reverts back to the unedited, original picture. How can I get the edited pictures from the thumbnails to full size?

Verify you are using iPhoto11 ver 9.5
if not run the >Software update or check your apps folder and make sure the correct iPhoto is launched, not an older ver.

How to remove Editable region from nested template?

I'm trying to remove an editable region from a nested
template while retaining it in the parent template. DW doesn't want
to let me do this.
Example:
- I've created an overall template call ALLPAGES.DWT
- In it, there's an editable region called "related links".
- The "related links" will stay the same for all my main
pages (welcome, news, info, etc), so I'd like to create a nested
template called MAINPAGES.DWT where the field is locked.
So here's what I did; I started a new page from ALLPAGES.DWT
and then I created a template MAINPAGES.DWT from it. Now I want to
remove the editable region "related links". According to the DW
manual, I should be able to highlight the region and go to
Modify > Templates > Remove Template Markup, but that
option is greyed out!
Apparenlty the only way of removing the editable region is to
create a smaller editable region within it. But that's unnecessary
and sloppy. How can I remove the region entirely?

understanding them,
and watching the problems that others have had here on the

involving simple use of Library items, or better, server-side
includes.

This is farcical and a real problem having to email them individually to myself and is totally inefficient time wise compared to previously using image capture! Why change this when it was working well and very quickly until the latest change. Now I have to move files from downloads into an appropriate folder, after emailing each individual edited image to myself, then I have to open in Photoshop and rename the file. This is ludicrous and takes forever to do!

There has been a change in where Firefox searches for plugins and the plugins folder in the Firefox program folder is no longer scanned for plugins, so Firefox won't find them anymore if they are installed in the plugins folder instead of the "browser\plugins" folder that Firefox now scans.
You can set the plugins.load_appdir_plugins pref to true on the about:config page to make Firefox scan the "<install>/plugins/" directory for plugins like the WMP plugin (np-mswmp.dll).

I have created 2 tabstrip screns which contain ALV GRID DISPLAY in a container with dynamic internal table and editable columns .I want to capture the edited value from this ALV GRID display.I have used SET_TABLE_FOR_DISPLAY and for this dynamc internal table is passed which is Field symbol and editable columns have to be captured for further updation into another ztable.
When i used check_changed_data i am getting dump as field symbol not assigned.

as max said, it could be because the field symbol is not global and if its global maybe you are not refering well to the column
i assume that you are using "ASSIGN COMPONENT comp OF STRUCTURE struc TO <fs>" to capture the value changed
validate always the sy-subrc after the assignment.
but the check changed data have parameters that have the old and new values
please provide more info...

In the export dialog don't choose original. Choose specific export settings for your purpose e.g. for a website, emailing or for printing.
You can choose jpeg, tiff etc and also select the size you need, sharpening and quality - click image below which shows an example of exporting jpegs in the sRGB color space.

I can not edit video from my new DVD Camcorder...

I recently purchased a Canon DC210 in hopes of learning to edit the movies I make with it before taking my honeymoon to Alaska in May, but I am not able to import the video from the disks. Is iDVD capable of doing what I am wanting to do i.e.. import, arrange, and edit scenes from the mini DVDs?

Unless I am missing something the list actually skips over my Model Number (Canon DC210)? I am still not seeing anything that tells me that '08 is going to solve any of my problems. I currently have iDVD 6.0.4 and it doesn't seem to have the capabilities I need. I don't think I am going to invest in another piece of software if I am not able to find something that specifically says it will work with my camera or media type.
Can you point me some where that does actually say it will?

After I applied OSS note 1149445 in our Dev box to fix the bug in program /VIRSA/ZVFAT, I had problem to realease the transport. I got the error u201COnly edit objects from package /VIRSA/ZVIR in local requestsu201D.
u201CObjects in package /VIRSA/ZVIR cannot be edited in transportable Workbench requests in the current Dev system. The transport routes are configured such that objects from package /VIRSA/ZVIR can only be edited in local Workbench requests.u201D
What can I do to release the transport and move it to our QA box?

My co-worker and I followed SAP instruction on this one and solve the issue.
We created a "transport of copies" by using Transaction SE01. Go to the request overview and choose Request/task -> Object list -> Include objects to include the "child transport number of my transport" in this "transport of copies". Add the target system and release the change request.

We are modifying all Z-programs to unicode enabled programs in ECC6.0 Upgradation. While doing this we are not able to save it as a transportable request. It displays error as "Only edit objects from package ZSD in local requests".
So can anyone tell me how to save it as a transportable request.

Hi,
two ways:
1. change the transport type: create transport type copy in se01 and copy all mentioned objects to that transport
2. better way: correct development class and transport layer
case a. target system was not definied (not known to TMS) or is empty
case b. source system (original system for objects) not known to TMS
case c. objects assigned to local package (former local development class)
etc.
If you don't understand this explanation, just use one of Z transport layers showed in stms, by changing the transport layer in the definition of the package (se80) to shown in STMS (link name from source to targed system)

Question about edit in from lightroom4

Hi
I can get a photo from Lightroom 4 to photoshop elements 11 thru the edit in, with no problem . But, when I go to do a save on the file, it rejects it, and wants me to "save as" and pick a specific folder. It then does not want to go back to Lightroom4 with the edits i made in elements.
I am not sure why it keeps asking me to save as ?
I thought you just edit in from Lightroom4, hit save in elements, then it should flip back into lightroom4 with the changes and show up beside the original photo in lightroom.
Can anyone tell me what i am doing wrong?

I have my prefs set to PSD, 8bits + LR develop settings.
As soon as you choose a photo in the Lightroom Library and use Edit In External Editor LR creates a new file next to the original and in the original folder e.g.
IMG_1234Edit.psd or
IMG_1234Edit.tif
In PSE you must save and replace (overwrite) using the file name created by LR.
If you use Save As; you are creating a further copy and would then need to import it separately into Lightroom which creates extra work and you end up with three images instead of two.
