Editing pdfs once forms are submitted

We created a form that users filled in, which included images and text. This 8 page document describes an architectural project, so the architects have inserted images and text descriptors. Our intention was that there were some pages that wouldn't apply to some of the people filling out the form. For instance, the page where they were to insert the 2nd story floor plan would be ignored by those buildings with only one floor.
So when we get the forms back, we were going to remove those pages before adding the documents to our library of architecture projects.
Unfortunately, upon getting the first 20 or so back, we cannot find a way to have the rights to delete pages that were not used. Is there a way to do this?
We used AA8 life cycle designer to make the forms, then "enabled rights" in AA8 pro. I have tried opening the returned forms in life cycle (and only see the original unfilled out form) and in AA8, where I do not have rights to alter the form, even though I created it.
Help!!!
Thanks

It sounds like what you want to do is PUBLISH your form so that every one with the published link can see the Response Table (without having to sign in).
If you are concerned about privacy then you can just share the form with all your team members as READER. This way they will have to sign-in (they need a FormsCentral account but it can be a free account) to see and download the responses. Readers don't see all the Tab (for example they don't see the Design Tab).
Hope this helps

  • Is there a limit to how many forms are submitted at a time?

Is there a limit to how many forms are submitted at one time? We're using FormsCentral for an employment application, and want to make sure that there won't be any problem if hundreds were accessing and submitting our form at one time.

While we don't publish any explicit concurrent submission limitations I can tell you that we have at least one customer who collects thousands of responses over a 15 minute period. If you find that your application using thundereds of users becomes unresponsive we'd love to know about it and will investigate such occurances immediately.

  • Create an editable pdf that can be submitted by email

I've figured out how to create an editable pdf in Adobe Acrobat Pro.  The pdf is a form to be completed.  Is it possible for the recipient to complete it, save the changes in Adobe Reader and email it back?  If not, what software do they need? (Acrobat?)

    iicatcher,
    You can!
The commands are slightly different depending on the version of Acrobat. I'd recommend you see the following video and help topic:

I would like to have customers fill out a form and submit it but instead of having the notification go to my email i would like the form to go into a workspace so that everyone from my team can go in and pull the pdf. I don't see the option on the share tab,Is this possible?

  • Creating Editable PDF from Form Created in LiveCycle

I believe the anwser is no, but I want to confirm. If I create a pdf form in LiveCycle Designer, can I load and populate that pdf form with a different library such as iText or do I have to use continue to use the LiveCycle PDF Services. (2.5)
    Thanks

Yes, you can update forms from designer with data from any number of libraries, from iText to the Adobe PDF Java Toolkit to any variety of .NET products.  The key is that there are different APIs for the XFA form (you update the XML data stream in the XFA area) and acroforms (where you update individual fields or update through FDF/XFDF import).
Also, keep in mind that a reader-extended form or a signed form should be changed in incremental update mode or you'll lose the rights and the signature.

  • Pdf web forms no longer open within browser but are instead downloaded as PDFs. I can't do my job, how do I get web forms to work again??

I need to know why pdf web forms are no longer opening within a browser page where they can be filled out and submitted to the website in question. This is a huge part of my job and now I can't do my work in this browser.

"Where do I find my hundreds of dollars of downloads I have done since 2005?"
They will only be where you put them  If you are doing the very basics, then they will be on your computer and they will be in your backup copy of your computer.
The itunes store is not global at all, never has been. You cannot redownload your content from another country.  You can only use the countrys itunes store for the country that you are physically located.

  • "unlocking" a once editable PDF

I distribute an editable PDF application form. About 90% of the forms come back to me in a state that is still editable and I can easily export the data and merge it into a spreadsheet. About 10% come back as "locked" and no longer able to be edited. It is obvious that some users have confusedly used the "Typewriter" tool to complete the form (which I am assuming is a hopeless case), but others have typed in the fields properly and then "locked" the form somehow and I cannot extract the data. Is there any way I can revert those forms to their original editable state? This problem is extremely frustrating and results in me wasting a lot of time manually extracting the information from the PDF.

Thank you for your reply. I can't actually post a sample because the files are application forms, but I could email one. Where should I send it?
I think I was wrong about my assumption of some applicants using the Typerwriter tool, because all of these problem documents so far say that that they do not have comments. With Preview (Mac), I can see that a document has actualled been "locked," but "unlocking" it does not really do anything.

  • Editable PDF Not Completely Editable.

I have an editable pdf that has areas specified for editing. I can edit every page in the document on Bluebeam but I cannot edit them all in Adobe. I am prohibited to edit any pages past the first 3. Does anyone know how to enable the editing of the remaining 6+ pages?

  • Acrobat Pro XI - I can't seem to be able to edit font sizes in a PDF Fillable Form

I have a PDF fillable Form which I wish to complete except for a few fields that need to be completed each time the form is submitted, and save it with those static fields completed and signed with an image of my signature.
Sometimes the font seems to auto change it's size to fit in the field it is intended for, other times it is either too small to read or too large to fit in the box and be readable.  I've chosen the arrow tool and the menu choice Edit; Edit Text and Images, and they don't really seem to do anything.
One part of the form has two fields for phone numbers (Business and Home) and the Business entry is always too tiny to read, while the Home field is OK.
Aside from that, there are also two boxes with drop down menus which say Select with an arrow next to them, and one of them for example has choices of Male and Female.  If I select one, later when the form is printed, the gender choice is overprinting on the word Select, making it hard to read.

Thanks for explaining that.  I wish I had "Locked" all the fields before I started then, since I did get somehow get a couple of them rearranged by accident and it took some (not a lot) of work to get them back in the proper order.
For the present file, which I am not adding captions to, how would I set the "read only' property?  I looked around in the Tools area and the only thing that looked possible that I found was Protection; Restrict Editing but I didn't go farther yet because it wanted me to set a password before proceeding.
Is it possible to make individual fields "Read Only" rather than the whole document?
As for the signatures, what I did is sign on a piece of paper, scan that into a JPG file, and then choose "Sign" from the top menu bar between the Tools and Comment choices:
This allowed me to drag the image of my signature to the line on the form where I am supposed to sign it, and place it there.  Then when I save the form with that signature on it, if I open it again and go to Forms Edit, I get a message that the form contains no Form Fields, and asks it I want Acrobat to detect fields for me.  If I choose yes, it then detects fields that were not previously filled in, but not the fields in which I had placed default entries before saving it.
I see where you mean about Signature on the left pane, but if I open that after loading a PDF that I signed using the above procedure, it detects no signature.  So the "Digital Signature" you mention must not be the image of the signature like I am using.  So if I want to  make the image of my signature into a "Digital Signature" that can be verified, do I have to go to some third party paid procedure like Verisign or EchoSign or something or can I somehow self certify the image of my signature?
I notice, as a side issue, that if I upload the blank unmodified PDF Form to Acrobat.com, it lets me fill it out and saves the file with a "form" extension, and they have a menu choice to Sign, but if you choose that you just get a box in which it expects you to draw your signature with your finger or a stylus I guess, but the result doesn't look much like my signature, and then if you save it to the computer, it does save it as a PDF file, but if you try to print it, the printed document is blank, so that is kind of useless.
    Thanks for your continued help!

Currently, Adobe Reader for Android does not provide an option to disable auto-save.
In the Reader home screen (where your files are displayed), you can make a copy of the original PDF document, open the copy (instead of opening the original document), make changes to the copy.  Once you email the copy, you can delete it.
For more information, please see Help > How To... > Copy, edit, delete, manage.
Although it is not the most convenient way to accomplish the task, that's the only feasible workaround that is available in Adobe Reader for Android right now.

  • Adobe LiveCycle to edit .PDF forms without restrictions??

I have a client that requested to have me redesign a windows document she's been using as a form, and to convert it into a PDF. I used the forms feature in Acrobat Pro, and it worked great with the design I made in InDesign.
Before tackling this, my client made clear that she needed to be able to add, subtract, and make other alterations to these forms after they are filled out. She wanted forms that HER clients could Save As... and send back to her. Then she would modify them.
I checked into this and was under the impression after talking to people in another forum that if all of the security settings were turned down all the way, that this wouldnt be a problem....BUT IT IS!!! Affter the fact of me making it!!!
Her clients cant Save As and send back the documents for her to modify. Is that what LifeCycle would help with? If she had LifeCycle could she then edit her clients forms??
I really need a solution to this and any help would be a godsend.

So if I set this they should be able to "save as" send it back and my client should be able to edit the feilds that were filled out again?
    Thanks for the prompt reply
That is how it is supposed to work yes. Some folks around here have mentioned that once the form has been filled then saved, they haven't been able to edit it later but, that isn't the norm nor my experience.

  • Editable PDFs displayed on Web Form

We have an editable pdf which needs to be shown on a web page where the user can enter the data. We have enabled some javascript validations on some of the input fields. However we will need to capture the submitted data and render the filled out PDF form. What are the recommended Adobe tools we could use for this effort?

I suspect that this is happening because the image is being converted to JPEG for transmission down to the client with maximum copmpression to reduce network bandwidth use.
This is one if the reasons that we recommend that you do not use Boilerplate images on the web.
The only thing you can try is to manually convert to JPG with Maximum compression before you insert onto the canvas - that way you can control the "final" image somewhat and the difference between the downloaded version and the source will be less marked

I just started a free trial of the Adobe XI product that allows me to create an editable PDF. I'm done creating the form and ready to export it. When I click Export PDF from the File menu, it says Adobe encountered an unexpected error. What am I doing wrong?

Good to know  — there is no such application as "Adobe XI".
"Adobe" is the name of the company.
"XI" is indicative of the use of either Acrobat XI or Reader XI.
Neither Acrobat XI Pro (for which Adobe provides a free, fully functional 30-day trial) nor Adobe Reader XI (the free to download and use PDF viewer that Adobe provides) have  an "Export PDF" entry under "File".
"Export PDF" only is present in Adobe Reader XI over on the right on the "Tools" panel.
The "Tools" panel provides a way for a user of Adobe Reader XI to connect to various By Subscription online services (gotta pay eh).
Export PDF is one of these. A subscription lets you send a PDF file to the online internet service (aka "cloud" service). The service then exports to a supported file format (Word / Excel / ...) and the user selects / directs where the output file is to be saved on the user's local machine.
Of course to use any of the online subscription services one must have an active (paid up in full) subscription to the service.
So ---- As described the puzzle pieces don't fit eh.
What specific Adobe (the company) applications are you using?
Acrobat XI Pro? Adobe Reader XI? Both?
    Be well....

  • Clicking "Edit PDF form" stops Adobe Acrobat Pro 11 from working. [FIXED]

As the title says, whenever I click "Edit PDF form" in Acrobat Pro 11, it displays the message "Adobe Acrobat has stopped working" and then when I click OK it closes.
It is a fresh install.  I tried reinstalling, by removing it first, i tried a repair, I also tried using Revo Uninstaller to clean up anything that was left after an uninstall, and still no joy.
    Any help would be appreciated.
It is running on Windows 8.1 Update (x64), and the version number for Acrobat Pro is 11.0.10.
    Thanks!
    **Update**
While I was writing this I had an epiphany, so I checked the Windows application logs which logged the following error every time Acrobat crashed...
Faulting application name: Acrobat.exe, version: 11.0.10.32, time stamp: 0x547e97af
Faulting module name: nvd3dum.dll, version: 9.18.13.4121, time stamp: 0x5474d740
    Exception code: 0xc0000005
which lists nvd3dum.dll as the culprit.  This has something to do with my Nvidia graphics card or drivers (NVIDIA Quadro FX 4600)
So after a little research I discovered a little registry tweak which "specifies the number of seconds that the GPU can delay the preempt request from the GPU scheduler. This is effectively the timeout threshold. The default value is 2 seconds." (Quoted from MSDN)
So I added the REG_DWORD value TdrDelay to the key path HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\Control\GraphicsDrivers, and changed the value to 8.  After rebooting this seemed to have solved the issue I was having.
    Here's a screenshot...
    Hope this helps someone!

We created forms in acrobat 9 pro and now with XI pro cannot edit them.  Error message states that livecycle designer is required to edit forms previously created in acrobat.  Called tech support and waited for over an hour before being told that another product needed to be purchased for $300 more than the upgrade cost for acrobat pro XI!!!  From the XI FAQ - The web site states:
The following customers are eligible for a free upgrade:
Customers who purchased a prior license to Acrobat and have purchased an upgrade to Acrobat XI Pro
Customers who have an Adobe Maintenance and Support contract or purchased Upgrade Plan eligible for an Acrobat XI Pro upgrade
Active Creative Cloud Complete members whose memberships started before October 15, 2012
The one-time LiveCycle Designer upgrade is available in English, French, German, or Japanese. Eligible customers can choose which language they would like to receive. Visit the Customer Support Portal to request an upgrade.
After entering in the needed info on the support portal was told that adobe will Not honor the sales rep & web site which both said we are eligible for the free upgrade.  We asked for a full refund and will not longer be using any new adobe products.  We went back to 9 pro forms work fine and adobe lost $.  Nice work adobe - lie to customers and then act surprised that the customers want their $ back!  They told us to just toss their software DVD in the trash where IT belongs, so we did!

  • Editing and Filling Forms in PDF's

I looked around this discussions area and noticed one person saying that I can use Adobe Acrobat to edit PDF files. Will this also let me fill in forms? Here is my situation, I'm downloading several contracts in PDF format and it has blank spaces all over the place. Does Acrobat automatically know these are blanks to be filled out or do I have to go through and tell the application where I want text added?
Also, are there any free apps that will let me do this exact thing? Thanks.

The form boxes must be in the PDF document. If they are not, you can add them using the form tools in the full version of Acrobat. But the process is not automatic. You have to place them in the proper place.
Most image editing applications will allow you to put text boxes over an image file. This will work if you want to fill in those places yourself, but will not make a file that others can fill in.
