Editing photos in Photoshop CC via Lightroom 5

In Lightrroom, using Photo>Edit in>PhotoshopCC, I make a few adjustments, then want to go back to LR. I hit the close button on Photoshop CC, it asks if I want to save the photo, it comes back with options where I choose TIFF and some associated parameters, the program closes and puts the file back in the folder where the original folder is, but when I go back into LR the edited photo is not there, just a copy wiithout the changes I made in CC. If I go to the folder with the file explorer in Winddows 8, it show the file there. For some reason LR is not recognizing the new edited TIFF and displaying it.

Has the behavior changed compared to how it used to open ? If so, do you refer to the Camera RAW window similar to this: http://screenshots.en.sftcdn.net/en/scrn/78000/78026/adobe-camera-raw-22.jpg
What is the file extension of your photos ?
In Lightroom, there is no special way of opening a RAW file vs. JPEG. They all open the same. What is the Lightroom behavior ? Can you post a screenshot ?

Use of the tools is pretty much the same in all versions of the program.
"Edit" is a menu item in Photoshop Elements Editor. Don't you see this?

Adobe now hides the editor - what looks like it is not - you want the editor hidden in the support folder - see http://forums.adobe.com/message/3955558#3955558 for details

  • Editing photo in photoshop from lightroom 4

When in lightroom 4,  selecting a photo and choosing edit in photoshop, sometimes a dialog box opens asking if I want to open original or copy with lightroom edits and sometimes it just opens in photoshop without the options. Anyone know why that is

    Hello!
If you open a non-raw image such as TIFF, PSD, or Jpeg in Lightroom, you will prompt the dialog box to open asking to "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments", "edit a copy", or "edit a original".
If you open a raw image using the additional external editor option, the only available option is to edit a pixel-rendered copy using Lightroom adjustment: "edit a copy with lightroom adjustments".

  • Editing Photos in Photoshop Elements

I can't sort out what happens to my photo edits when done in PSE. I am careful to save the file as a .jpg and save it to the same folder. Nonetheless when I look at the photo in iPhoto, I see the unedited version. I've got to believe that his is, "pilot error" but for the life of me I can't find the correction.
I find the file that I want to edit via "file", "open" from PSE, then enter the file number that I see in iPhoto, "information" e.g. img_3405. I edit the file in PSE and save, even getting the "...do you want to replace it?" warning. When I go back to iPhoto, even after close and open, I see the unedited photo. Arrrrrrg!
What do I do (or expect) wrong?
    Wayne

save it to the same folder.
Are accessing PSE from within iPhoto or from the Finder? Are you saving with the same file name?
Here are some tips on using PSE from within iPhoto:
Using Photoshop (or Photoshop Elements) as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
1 - select Photoshop as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop. When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
3 - however, if you get the navigation window that indicates that PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file. You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
NOTE: With Photoshop Elements 6 the Saving File preferences should be configured: "On First Save: Save Over Current File". Also I suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.
If you want to use both iPhoto's editing mode and PS without having to go back and forth to the Preference pane, once you've selected PS as your editor of choice, reset the Preferences back to "Open in main window". That will let you either edit in iPhoto (double click on the thumbnail) or in PS (Control-click on the thumbnail and seledt "Edit in external editor" in the Contextual menu). This way you get the best of both worlds

  • Edited photos not showing up in lightroom

I am using lightroom 3 and photoshop CS5.
I recently had to reinstall the programs after a hard drive failure. Prior to the reinstall, photos that I had worked on in photoshop automatically showed up in the LR3 library. I updated to the latest version of LR when I reinstalled. Now when I save I can not find the new photos anywhere in the library. I have had problems with JPEG and DNG. I save to TIFF. Any thoughts or suggestions would be appreciated.

    Check the following settings:
In the Library Module go to >View >Sort and make sure that <Capture Time> is unchecked and <File name> is checked.
When <Capture Time> is checked the edited photo will be at the very end of the film strip not next to the RAW-file because LR takes the time when you save a file in PS as Capture Time.
When <File Name> is checked the edited TIFF should be right next to the Raw image - provided that in PS you have not done a <Save As> and given your photo a new name.

  • I can not save edited photos in Photoshop Elements.

I bought Photoshop elements because i thought it would help me save manipulated photos. When i edit photos and change them, then save the changes under a different file name, I continutally get the unedited original when I try to view the edited photo

    Hi Bucephal,
    That is pretty odd, indeed.
Just so that the community can help - could you provide us with information like what version you're using, which OS, and a brief explanation of what effect you're applying, or how you're manipulating the image?
    Cheers,

  • Editing photo in Photoshop and then getting it back in Book

I've made my preferences to edit in Photoshop. When I'm done editing and I "save" the image, it doesn't change it in the book. I don't see the edited photo in the unplaced photo pane either. The edited photo is in the photo album. How do I get it into the book?
    thanks

    confusedagain:
Hi again. When you save the edited version does it still have the jpg extension? If you've created a layered file or done an edit that PS wants to save as it's own, i.e. a psd extension, you must either flatten the image and/or do a Save As, selecting the jpg extension. iPhoto will save the file in the appropriate subfolder in the Modified folder and update the database file along with the thumbnail file.
What you're currently ending up with are a number or orphaned psd files or jpg files in the wrong location in your library.
    Do you Twango?

  • How do I change the default quality when saving a series of edited photos in Photoshop Elements 9

Say I have saved a series of edited photos using Quality 5. I then change to saving a new series using Quality 10. Each time I save a photo the quality appears as 5 and I have to change it manually to 10. Eventually the default quality will automatically change to 10, but it takes a fair numbers of saves to do this. How do I get the default quality to change as soon as I want it changed rather than having to wait for the software to finally do it itself?

Interesting point. My situation is where I change the default quality then carry on using the new quality without closing down the program. What you are suggesting is that changing the default quality,  closing down the program, then restarting it might get the quality change to stick. I'll give it a whirl and see what happens.

  • Edit Photo in Photoshop from Lightroom

    Hello,
I had a hardware problem and had to reinstall LR 3.6 and PS Creative Suite 4.  I've used the programs for years now and never had this problem.  When I'm in LR, I click on "Photo - Edit in Photoshop" and it should take me to Photoshop and open the photo so that I can continue to edit it.  It opens Photoshop, but does not open the photo.  I didn't know if it was an installation problem or a user problem, so I entered it here first.
    Thanks very much.

Thanks Rick.  I was away and didn't get a chance to respond to this right away.  For some reason, I think the issue had something to do with Lightroom 3.6.  Before anyone had responded to my question, I downloaded 3.3 and it was fine.  Thanks for your comment.
