Editing photos with either very dark or very red faces - the rest of the photo is fine
I posted this once but can't find it so obviously posted in the wrong place. I would like to know an easy way of lightening just the face of a person in a photo - the background is fine. I would also like to be able to change the colour of some faces - e.g. for some reason, one person in a group has a very red face. - I've tried auto colour correct and adjust colour for skin tones (this one for some reason will turn the entire photo a strange shade of orange, yellow, blue or green!! I am using PSE 13 on a Macbook Pro.
I would also like to know how to remove the shine from individual faces.
a word of explanation - I am working with about 1600 photos I had scanned in from my photo albums (going back to the 70s) - for the most part, the scanning was pretty good but there are several instances when I've had the above issues.
Try this:
Open the file
Go to Enhance>Adjust lighting>Shadows/highlights, then work the sliders to decrease the shadows and to brighten the picture overall
Open a Photo-filter adjustment layer. I used warming filter 85 @25% density. Check "Preserve luminosity".
Sharpen with unsharp mask from the Enhance menu. (64, 1.7, 1)
Use the clone tool to clone blond hair to the top of the little girl's head

I have an old mpg video file, taken with a very early model "smart phone", that opens and plays fine in my newly "rebuilt" iPhoto library. I cannot open, edit it or share it with any other software. How can I fix it, to be able to do anything with it?

I've recently purchaced a 4TB Thunderbolt drive to store my "vast" music and photo libraries. iPhoto had an issue reading the moved library, so I bought and used iPhoto Library Manager to "rebuild" it. Apart from much of the original data such as date taken & camera used etc, it appears to be working well. The aforementioned mpg video was taken some 9 years ago, using an early model "iMate" smart phone, and opens and plays fine on iPhoto, but I cannot open it with anything else, (I've tried iMovie, VLC players, Wondershare and Handbrake) nor can I share it. I just want to edit it, and share it with family.
Any help would be appreciated...No - not iMovie, VLC, Wondershare or Handbrake... Quick time starts with a "CONVERTING", then I get
I've looked at the "tell me more" links, tried downloading some of the movie players there. I'm begining to think the file is corrupt.

I work with a Mac & I had to restore my computer for my time machine back-up. When I attempt to open/edit a photo with either camera raw or photoshop I get the following error message: Error 150:30 , it also sys that licensing for the product has stopped working?
Unfortunately when Adobe products are restored from backup, especial CS4 and especially Mac, it breaks licensing.
There is a python script included in the license recovery kit that should work if you are familiar with Terminal.
If not, you must reinstall your CS4 suite. You don't need to delete your preferences, so it should be the same as before.

There are 9 different versions of iPhoto and they run on 8 different versions of the Operating System. The tricks and tips for dealing with issues vary depending on the version of iPhoto and the version of the OS. So to get help you need to give as much information as you can. Basic things like :
- What version of iPhoto.
- What version of the Operating System.
- Details. As full a description of the problem as you can. For instance: 'iPhoto won't export' is best explained by describing how you are trying to export, and so on.
- History: Is this going on long? Has anything been installed or deleted?
- Are there error messages?
- What steps have you tried already to solve the issue.
- Anything unusual about your set up? Or how you use iPhoto?
Anything else you can think of that might help someone understand the problem you have. -

I re install adobe with a new graphic card after problem related to extended but not in the default path .
In dreamweaver CS6 when insert a smartobject psd file and useright clcik contextual menu for select "edit original with " ( to have acces to original psd not the image use in html page ) .
Dreamweaver show me "unable to launch ... Photoshop.exe " .
I can choose browse to the the real photohsop.exe location but my choice is not save !!
1) why adobe developper use static hard link when implemented this functionnalities ?
2) is there a way to set a custom path to photoshop in the DW setting ?
3) DW is higly customizable , does this issue is documented in adobe documentation ?
4) smart object is limited if we have acces only to the whole psd view not part of it like directory or specific layer !!

I use Preview to edit photos, and would like to know if there are any updates to this program in the works. It seems Apple is constantly updating its software, except for Preview. I find it crashes all too often, and also takes forever to "catch up" with me (as in spinning beachball of death) when I'm editing a lrge amount of photos. Yes, I know I should be using Photoshop or somesuch, but it's just too **** confusing, and I don't have the time to figure it out. Thanks!!
Launch the Console application in any of the following ways:
☞ Enter the first few letters of its name into a Spotlight search. Select it in the results (it should be at the top.)
☞ In the Finder, select Go ▹ Utilities from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-U. The application is in the folder that opens.
☞ Open LaunchPad. Click Utilities, then Console in the icon grid.
Step 1
Make sure the title of the Console window is All Messages. If it isn't, select All Messages from the SYSTEM LOG QUERIES menu on the left. If you don't see that menu, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar.
Enter the name of the crashed application or process in the Filter text field. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard (command-C). Paste into a reply to this message (command-V).
When posting a log extract, be selective. In most cases, a few dozen lines are more than enough.
Please do not indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.
Important: Some private information, such as your name, may appear in the log. Anonymize before posting.
Step 2
In the Console window, look under User Diagnostic Reports for crash reports related to the crashed process. The report name starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report and post the entire contents — again, the text, not a screenshot. In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.) the photos that I add to address book will only be there for a few seconds after I close the edit button. Either they go away completely or they are very small portion of the actual photo
Frank, thanks for your note. I wrote "COMPLETED" because I had gone to a lot of effort to get the content of the book precisely as I wanted it. I would fully expect to see my level of effort and care matched by functional competence in Aperture 3 to render the book the way I created it. Too much to ask?
And yes, I upgraded the Aperture 2 Library first. [Not ALL my tens of 000s of pix, because I use Lightroom selectively for photo editing. But Yes to the Aperture 2 Library.] That step took a number of minutes, but seemed to work fine (no error messages of any kind).
Then I opened the existing book project in Aperture 3, which followed some "magic-box" process that took a minute or so. As I said, when that step was done, by all appearances the book was ready to submit for printing - until I examined the photos a little more closely. You did see the blurry example I included, didn't you? That is what each and every photo looks like.
Text-box content appears to have been rendered pertectly, for the record (including captions).
So, ... is this result something you have heard of before? Do you know of a one-step solution? Or am I looking at an extended picture-by-picture fix? -

That's just a visual differentiator so folks can easily tell if it will run on their machine. The difference is the RAM and processor in the iPad 2 and iPad (New). The camera has nothing to do with the physical requirements.

Error message: "Warning: unresponsive script". Afterward, the system freezes and will then crash. Crash reports have been submitted many, many times without response. I have tried the fore-mentioned solutions with either no results or very bad results which I filed a report but did not receive an answer. The application to block scripts actually worsened the problem and I could not correct the situation for a while (no response from Firefox, at all). I have also been through this procedure without any one contacting me, AT ALL.

Just downloaded photoshop cc on my pc, when using the camera raw filter noticed there are no descriptions for the sliders! Very difficult to edit photos. Already checked preferences. Anyone else have this issue?

I have now recently downloaded 10.0.2 which is confusing in itself, as, as far as I can ascertain that is actually version 11, but I'm not even sure about that.
Version 10.0.2 is the newest version and the successor to GarageBand '11 (version 6.0.5).
The '11 is referring to the iLife '11 suit of multimedia application - the older GarageBand was a part of this bundle.

My docking station wont play my ipod..... the ipod works fine on its own but when I try to play via my hifi I have to put the sound full wack to be able to hear it & its not very lound at all. It does not respond with the remote control either!! The sound is ok if I play CDs & respond to remote control fine... The hifi & docking station are Sony
1) When I go to the apple.com website my computer will either be really slow or freeze my whole system down to where I have to reboot my computer again. This does not happen all the time but when it does operate it is molasses slow.

What do i do with a very slow Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements on a PC?
I seem to be getting mixed opinions as to why my Adobe software gets so slow, despite efforts to avoid that, but my computer seems to be working just fine, it is only when in Adobe that the problems arise, like freezing, taking longer and longer periods of time to open the screen to edit a photo, or to compare two photos side by side. Any process seems to take such a long time, and the freezing can last for several minutes, and then continue on. I have had a computer person come to my house and examine my computer and though his knowledge of Photoshop is limited, he feels that it is NOT the computer but something with Adobe Photoshop. I would tend to agree with him.
Several theories have been explained to me, such as Elements and Premiere Elements are a low end of the scale of Photoshop programs, so it is just not going to be able to process high definition large photos well and quickly. Stating comments like i can only use 2 GB of my memory even though i have 8 GB, so unless i can use 64 bit this is what i have to deal with, and it is just a way for Photoshop to say you need to upgrade to the fancier programs. I do not need fancier programs. I am working hard to master these, and have accomplished 4 great blu rays in high definition thanks to recommendations from the Forum here, especially Steve with the help of his books.
Others say i need a solid state hard drive to solve the problem. Others say the only way i will ever solve the problem is to switch to a MAC. Others state is a mal-ware problem, but i have never had my hard drive so clean and uncluttered. I supposedly have as good of PC as i could have as far as QUAD-core, 8GB memory, presently a 1 TB hard drive less than 1/2 full. All suggestions involve big outlays of money, with no guarantee that things will be any better. I have tried to contact different computer companies and computer 'nerds', and these are some of the suggestions, but no one really has a lot of knowledge of the Photoshop software.
I am thinking of adding an additional internal hard drive, but not sure that is going to help either. Could i put all my Photoshop of the second hard drive, and might that speed things up?
Adobe is rather worthless in trying to get help from them. I have spent hours on the phone waiting and then talking to someone who says they understand English but they do NOT understand the question i am asking, which becomes very frustrating with repeat phone calls. I gave up yesterday trying to do that challenging experience yesterday after i had spent 3 times the amount of time they said i would need to wait to get a reply, and i was at work, and my free time had come to an end. So i am hoping you guys can give me some clues of the best thing to do.
Is it true that Photoshop Elements and Premiere Elements are just such a lower end program that trying to do things in high definition, with 2000x1500 photos, making them into a blu ray disc is a major challenge with a PC? I wish i had a greater computer knowledge, but i have struggled to achieve my goal, but the speed of it all gets very frustrating, though it is possible.
Another question asked which i don't think exists, is whether there is a program that could clean up Photoshop, or are there some clues that could accomplish that and thereby speed things up.
Would appreciate any suggestions anyone has. I am in the middle of another project so now is probably not the best time to consider any major changes. But any comments would be appreciated.
RonPremiere Elements 10 is now 64 bit, but not PSE10.
Take a look at your scratch disk set-up and if you have a spare volume, allocate that first before the C drive. Elements use scratch disks when it gets low on RAM.

I sold my 2nd Gen iPod Nano in the summer, I needed the money. I am a student, and I need to be able to carry my iPod around with me in my POCKET wherever I go. My library of music is only 5gb, but with everything it is 12gb. I am debating between the 8gb nano, the 80gb classic and the 16gb touch. I went to the apple store 3 times, and keep falling in love with the touch. I quickly made a new playlist in iTunes, deleting full albums that I never listen to (a few to mention would be Frank Sinatra and The Doors :P) and added in a few of my TV shows and Podcasts. With half of my music, all 6 of my tv shows, my one music video, and 36 of my 291 podcasts, I have gotten the total to 438 items totaling 6.76gb, and I also plan on adding around 5 or 6 photo albums. Sounds easy, right? Sure, this will all fit on the touch. My problem is that I plan to be buying videos and tv shows. The reason I only have 1 music video, 6 tv shows, and no movies is that who wants to watch them on your computer? I have been hearing about the classic, a lot. I don't mind the slower interface, mainly because apple will take care of that in software updates. I do care about the durability and life of the internal hard drive. How long with this thing last? Next, I would like to know the durability of the iPod touch. I do realize the screen is nearly impossible to scratch. But what about dropping? It is glass, after all. I have seen video of dropping iPhones with no damage, but this thing is smaller, thinner, and seems like it would take a fall harder. I also don't like a few things about it, such as the inability to quickly change tracks, turn the sound down, and pause tracks. The nano is very nice, but if I don't get the touch, I am basically getting the same storage as the touch without the extra nice features. I have wifi in my house, and it would be cool to get internet everywhere in my house, seeing as another family member has a laptop, not I. The iPods I have owned in the past are the 1st gen shuffle (512mb), 2 of the 2nd gen minis (4gb), and a 2nd gen 2gb ipod nano. Not one of them held my music. I absolutly refuse to have to change tracks every time I sync my iPod. I dont mind not having albums never listen to on there though. And if you really think about it, who needs ALL of their movies and TV shows on their iPod? It is nice, but a bigger screen is also very nice. This is my Christmas gift from my parents, I have a long way to go until I get it. As a student I want a durable and functional player. I have always been a fan of the standard iPod design, but love the touchscreen. Cover flow is amazing on it. I will not buy anything but an Apple product, I have been using iTunes since it came out for PC. My favorite iPod I owned was my mini, if they had a nice revamped version of that it would be mine. I like the nano's, my sis is getting the blue one for christmas. One big concern for me is battery life. The Touch has reports of terrible battery life, which I greatly dislike. The nano and classic are supposed to have good life, though. Let me know what you all think, I really need help on this. I wish I could borrow each for a day and see which I like the best, but thats not happening. Thanks a lot.I am in the same situation as you as a student. I just decided after the announcement of the new ipods i would upgrade to a ipod touch. so i sold my nano and put the money from it towards my new touch. Since having it I have felt very comfortable using it cause i also have a small music library and my videos i.e. music videos, tv shows, movies. I dont like switching my music often either but i do make smart playlists or a regular playlist to have the music that i listen to often. I also got rid of dead albums or tracks like bob marley :P
I seriously have to say that i tried out the classic and touch in the apple store and just hated the classic UI and how slow it was. Yeah i think they fixed that already with a firmware update recently but really the screen on the classic is just sad add the UI and i just hated it. The touches UI is super and really easy to use once you get used to it. The only thing that i miss is the "Blind Control" i had with the click wheel. you know just blindly touch the click wheel to turn it up or change songs. That cannot happen with the touch so you gotta take t out all the time. BUT with the size and how thin it is it is very similar to the nano. And it fits so nicely in the pocket +with a case of course+ and its light so you dont recognize it like the classic does and its bulkiness it has. I really think the touch is a perfect upgrade for nano owners.
With the screen size it makes all the older and current ipods so sad. I mean 3.5 inch screen. I really enjoy my music videos now! Also the ability to connect to the internet via wifi has become such a great thing for me as a student. My home and campus is all wifi so i can access the net anywhere for free. Plus its nice having to drag my laptop around too. THe battery life has been great for me. I do have the auto brightness on and i always turn off the wifi when its not in usage. THat tends to drain it quickly. I have not watched a movie yet on my touch but I can watch tv shows and music videos just great with the battery holding up well. The ipod touch screen holds up well because it is optical quality glass and i dropped my ipod touch in its case today but it wasn't damaged thank goodness!
