Editing Place names in A3

How can I edit the Places generated by A3? They are quite frequently wrong or inconsistent, but I cannot seem to find a way to change anything. Furthermore, I generally prefer to use "native" forms of place names, but Aperature only uses "English" versions.

Hello Krista,
I think you added the TOC before you labeled the slides, right?
Use the small button (see screenshot, highlighted) to Reset the TOC. The slide labels will replace the current default names.

I want to edit the places name (with the little house icon)

I'm relatively new to Mac. This is a computer shared by a few people and I didn't want to plaster my name all over it. the places name for example is IanComputer but i'd like it Ian + Lisa.
Can this be done?

The simplest thing of all would be to create new accounts for the other users, with whatever names they want. Then they would only be able to log into their own account and wouldn't be able to see anything that's in your account. You could leave your own account just as it is.
Of course you shouldn't tell other users what your username and password are

Not able to edit event names in iCal

Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, I am not able to edit event names in iCal once they are created. I am able to edit all other items in the event, but not name. I have tried double clicking, using the inspector, etc. to no avail. Any ideas?

I tried getting rid of duplicates in FontBook. I tried deleteing the iCal.plist file and restarting my mac. Nothing works. I can not edit any entry in any way except to drag it to a new place. I also can't open iCal Preferences. I have iCal 4.0.1 - is that the current version?

Problem editing place in Pics

I am having a problem editing the places in the Pictures. It doesn't behave properly. I have a combination of Pictures with Iphone that are geotagged and regular pics also. If I highlight several pictures click the check box to edit place the places are not saved when I exit out of that screen. I like using the Iphone because it already has the geotagged info and would like to extend that info easily to the other pics taken at the same location. With some other pictures I have taken, I try to change the places info like the name, but for some reason I run into the same problem that the info is not saved after I select done and exit out. Anyone know what im doing wrong?

I am not clear on your work flow
To add a "place" to a photo that does not have a "place" select the photo and click on the "i" in the lower right hand corner - click on place and type the place you want, if one you want comes up in the list click on it otherwise click on find on map and wait for the Google map to appear, locate the photo and click assign to photo and done
There is no way to copy locations between photos
There also is an application that will allow you to create a track on your iPhone and then use it to assign locations to photos on your mac automatically - GeoTagLog - http://www.galarina.eu/GeoLogTag/Home.html

Unable to rename place names

hope someone can help here, I have just imported a bunch of photos into iPhoto 11 which were pre-geotagged and now after importing iPhoto will not rename the place names from.
I have some pics taken in an old house which I tagged, the pin says england so I rename the place hit return it just goes back to England. I tried typing the place name again and this time clicked (renaming current place) and still the same, I checked manage my places but I only currently have one which has been auto added into there so I cant even rename the place name there either.

I have a similar problem with iPhoto '11 (9.2.1). According to the help files, one is supposed to be able to highlight a photo, open the info panel and assign a place by typing in a place name or set of coordinates. It does not work as advertised.
Often I will want to drop a pin on a location that is not associated with a known street address (a spot on a hiking trail for example), or I will want to edit the location and lable for a misplaced pin. Unfortunately, iPhoto '11 has a serious bug that prevents one from editing pin positions and location lables. And when one clicks on a misplaced or mislabled pin, instead of the pin head turning yellow and revealing a lable editing field, the pin head remains red and offers no opportunity to edit the lable.
Even the Geniuses I've consultted at the Apple Store are stumped by this. Unfortunately, Apple HQ is not very forthcoming about acknowledging bugs. Will this bug get fixed, who knows? It could be they won't throw any resources at the problem until the next major revision of the software. When will that be? Who knows? Apple's not talking about it.
Very frustrating for a user, isn't it.

Letters are doubled when typing in new place name

I have been struggling with the new way of adding places to photos in iPhoto 11 (see http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?threadID=2623201&tstart=0). I finally figured out (more or less) how to add a new place to a photo. After a while another problem showed up, which I can't get rid of:
In the Info window of a photo, I enlarge the places window to show the map. I then start typing in a place name, but every letter I type in gets doubled (displayed twice). But when removing the double letter, the automatic search doesn't get updated, so I can't select any of my own places as they never show up. And it doesn't happen with every letter. Only the first one and every one after I have removed a doubled letter.
If I try this without the map being show, the first letter gets displayed once, but the next letters are doubled as the map is automatically shown.
The strange thing is that it didn't happen before.
I tried to restart iPhoto. Problem still exists.
I even restart my MacBook Pro (first time I had to do that regarding a software bug). Problem still exists.
I tried another photo library I have, and there it doesn't happen, so it seems to be linked to that specific photo library.
Any suggestions?

very few people have reported this - try renewing your iphoto preference file - A good general step for strange issues is to renew the iPhoto preference file - quit iPhoto and go to "your user name" ==> library ==> preferences ==> com.apple.iPhoto.plist and trash it - launch iPhoto which creates a fresh new default preference file and reset any personal preferences you have changed and if you have moved the iPhoto library repoint to it. This may help
This does not affect your photos or any database information (keywords, faces, places, ratings, etc) in any way - they are stored in the iPhoto library - the iPhoto preference file simply controls how iPhoto works - which is why renewing it is a good first step.

No. You cannot rename a location marked on Map. The name that appears will be the same as it appears on map.

if company name is too big than you can use split command in your code to split company name and display in smartform.

How do I add place names to events in iPhoto 11

How do I add place names to events iPhoto 11 version 9.2.1, I can do a single picture at a time but when you have a 100 or so it's going to get tedius.
I have found messages via google that tell me how to do it but it dos'nt work.
I select the event I want to locate. then I click "cmd i" to get the info screen up. Then at the bottom of the screen is a picture of the world and a box next to it where I think you should type in your location, but that just takes me to a map of the USA and I can't do anything.
Help please, what am I doing wrong.

I want to change the name of a folder in my Bookmarks Toolbar. I tried opening the 'show all bookmarks', then clicking Bookmarks Toolbar, and then clicking once on the present name with hopes it would allow me to edit it. But it didn't work.

You need to open the Bookmarks Toolbar folder in the left pane in the Library.<br />
Then you can select (highlight) that folder in the right pane and edit the name in the Details pane at the bottom of the right pane.

The author's name is carried in the 'itunes:author' tag. You will need to enter it in the appropriate field in whatever program or online service you are using to make your podcast.

Converting CLLocation to a human-readable place name string

In a text-based application I want to enable a simple geotagging feature. Is there a way to convert a CLLocation latitude-longitude information into an actual place name, like "New York, NY", "Vancouver, B.C., Canada", "Birmingham, England" etc.? It doesn't need to be terribly precise, if it can recognize all towns/cities of more than 100-200K people I will be happy. On the same subject, since I'm new to the whole geotagging/GPS thing (I'm developing on a Touch and have never used a GPS device), what are some other developers doing with regards to presenting location information in a human-readable format? Just knowing the longitude/lattitude seems rather uninspiring to me.

Can you edit the name showing on Friends list?

My Apple Watch defaulted my Friends to be the top 12 favorites from my phone. The problem is my first three contacts are spouse home, spouse work, spouse mobile. On the watch all you see is Spouse, Spouse, Spouse with no idea which goes to witch number. Is there anyway to edit the names so they show on the Watch differently? Otherwise I'm calling the wrong phone or texting a landline accidently. I'm using my Apple Watch with my iPhone 5s running iOS 8.3.

Yeah, that's kinda annoying. I guess the Watch assumes I am only ever calling someone's mobile number. In fact the Friends in the watch do not seem to be linked to the contact. The friends area is very weird and not overly integrated.

Cannot edit song name

My iTunes won't let me edit the name of a song on my Library, when I press "Get info" and try to edit the name or Artist, the columns are grey.. I don't know what's going on but it's annoying... Help

I've got the same problem... I mean, when i play the
song, every field in its info rolls back to the
previous one.
Okay, the big question here is after you edit it, does it work for a while and then go back sometime later? If so, your problem is likely that you have Windows Media Player set to retrieve additional song info from the internet.
WMP has an option where it will find music on your computer and automatically fill in the tag fields. It does this slowly, in the background, whenever it is running. So what happens is that you edit a song's information in iTunes, and then sometime later, while WMP is running, it will edit the song back to what it wants it to be. iTunes only notices this change when you try to play the song, and it updates from whatever is in the song file.
The fix for this is to turn off the option in WMP that reads "Retrieve song information from the internet". This is on the Library tab of the preferences, I think. This won't fix the files WMP has already changed, but it will prevent it from changing them again.
