Editing previous project

I am trying to edit a label that I have been using for years.  I updated my computer and didn't have the disk.  I signed up for a trial subscription before I buy one but I can't make any changes.  I used to be able to open the label file, delete the name, add a different name and save as.  It won't let me delete the old words and make the changes.  Any idea?

  • Can I edit previous projects that I started in fcp 7 in fcp x

I started working on a video project using the old fcp 7 but I have since updated to fcp x and was wondering if I can transfer the files to fcp x and continue where I left off?

No, the projects are incompatible. Apple recommends that you leave FCP7 installed alongside FCPX.

  • How do I reopen a previous project I was working on in imovie?  Please help

I had to work on two imovie projects.  I began the first one and I was about half done.  I had to start the second one so I created a "new project".  I worked on the second one, but now I want to go back to the first one to finish editing.  I go to "Finder" then the "movies" folder, then "imovie projects", then I pick my first movie project I was working on.  Imovie doesn't open the first project, it just goes back to my second project, but I want to edit the first.  So, how do I open a previous project I was working on in imovie?

  • Reconnecting Offline Media to Previous Project

I have been reading the previous threads concerning the subject of 'Media Offline', but have not quite found the answer to my particular problem.  If I have missed such a thread, please point me to it.  Thanks much.
I began editing a project in CS4.  I should point out that all of the originally digitized HDV (to .avi files) footage is the same, orignally digitized footage.  I was forced to continue editing this project on a completely different computer (both were PC's).
I imported the original CS4 .prproj file into CS5.  As expected, all of my Timeline 'Sequences' as well as all of my sublips organized into numerous bins in my 'Project Panel' also showed 'Media Offline' when I tried to open them in my 'Source Panel.'  This was before I re-imported all of the original .avi files (the raw whole tape files) into this newly created CS5 project.
I then re-imported all of the aforementioned originally digitized .avi files to my D: drive.  I then created a new bin in my 'Project Panel' and imported those .avi files into my CS5 project.  I assumed this was the method for re-connecting the original raw files to the old project pointers. The newly created 'Peak Files' were kept in a folder also on my D: drive.  But after re-importing all of the original digitized files, I am still getting 'Media Offline' both on my Timeline edited 'Sequences' as well as any sublcip file in the bins of my 'Project Panel.'
Is there a step I am overlooking?  Is there a re-connection process I am missing?  Shouldn't I be able to take a CS4 .prproj file and open it up in CS5 and continue editing it there with the original source asset files?  Or am I going to have to go through all of my original footage again and create new subclips and 'Project Panel' bins?
I should also point out that the raw .avi tape files play fine in my 'Source Panel.'  It's just that none of my Timeline 'Sequences' or 'Project Panel' subclips will connect.  Of course, I could just start over and go through all the tapes and reorganize.  But that will take me two to three weeks.
    I am running CS5 5.0.2; Windows 7 Pro x64; 12GB of RAM, nvidia GTX-470.
Finally, I should mention that I do also have all of the original tape files in .mpeg format residing on the same D: drive, although in a different folder if that makes any difference?
Any help would be appreciated.  Thanks.
    Tom

I have done this with several projects recently (CS4 projects opened in CS5) and although they are DV not HDV, I don't think you are doing this right.  I copied the whole CS4 project with directories to the new machine.  In my case, the captured files are in a subdirectory.  I opened the CS4 project file and CS5 prompts to rename.  The files are right where there were before, so no relinking is even needed.  In some instances where assets were not, ordinarily relinking worked.
I imported the original CS4 .prproj file into CS5.
I did not import into; I opened the CS4 project with CS5.

  • Restoring a previous project?

    Hi everyone,
I just started using FCP X and would like to ask you for some help. I started my first project recently and put in a lot of work into it. However, I needed to start on another project, but once I selected File>New Project, I can't seem to find my previous project anymore. Was I supposed to do "New Event" instead?
Does anyone know how I can restore my old project? Please there has got to be a way!! Any help would be appreciated.
EDIT: Nevermind, I found out. There is a film reel that you click on the bottom of the screen to show previous projects.

Your projects should be in the project library. Film reel button in the lower left of the timeline.

  • Can't Open Previous Projects

When I try to open any one of my past iMovie '09 projects, the old project briefly comes on the screen (for approximately 2 - 3 seconds) and then quickly changes over to whatever is the most recent new project I've started. So, I can't go back to any of my previous projects to work on them again. I'd love it if someone could help me unlock this mystery.
I may have just figured this out on my own. I was trying to open old projects by clicking on the actual project file instead of by using the Project Library tab in IMovie. Is it possible to open an old project by opening directly from the file, or is the Project Library tab the only way to do it?

I'm having the exact same problem as the above poster.  I'm using Windows 7 and PE4 worked for a while until one day it crashed (as it tended to do pretty often).  It offered me the chance to save my project as it was crashing and so I did.  Then whenever I tried to use the program again, it would always crash and "minimize" when trying to open a project or start a new one exactly as it did for the other person.  I'd been thinking about upgrading my software anyway, so I got Premiere Elements 9.  Now it won't work.  If I try to start a new project, it gives me a blank screen.  I try to open one, I get "Sorry, a serious error has a occured [...]".  It's basically an updated version of the same original problem.
My computer is a Dell Studio 1555 (I think that translates to Dell Studio 16).  It's got an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 281 GB of free space, a regularly defragmented hard drive, 4 GB of RAM, and an ATI Mobility Radeon HD 4570 video card.  The problem can't be blamed on video compatibility as the original problem in the old software arose randomly after I had been using the same Flip HD camcorder and video settings for a while and the new software hasn't interacted with any video yet because it crashes before I can get any in!  What the heck is going on here?

  • Can I edit one project on two computers with external drive and two copies of software?

I have two copies of premiere elements. One on IMac and one on Macbook. Video files on external drive. I want to be able to edit same project on both. I originally started the project on macbook but IMac doesn't see the exsisting project.  Can I do this? thanks for the help

    Thanks for the follow up.
The matter of the sign in/trial version has happened to me from time to time with Premiere Elements (I worked with Windows). I supply
the requested information and that usually takes care of that message for a long while.
What is the status of the issue now with the MacBook Pro to iMac projects? Is that matter restricted to just one project from MacBook Pro to iMac?
If so, on this particular one, did you try the Project Archiver/Copy Project workflow in MacBook Pro?
As for the error message...I am not a Mac user, and consequently I am not sure I am interpreting the following correctly. But take a look to see if any of it applies

  • Editing a project

    Hello
I recently started working on a video project using .mpg format videos. I have already completed another project successfully using the same format and videos from the same source.
However, when I went to open this current project, the program tells me that "this file is not supported, or the required codec is not installed." I do not believe it is a problem with any codec because I can still open up my previous project with no problem.
When the file opens, the work I've done so far is still there, including the audio, except the video has been removed and a red "media offline" still image is in its place.
Please help me solve this issue.
    Thanks
    Peter G.

    Peter G,
Let's go back to your earlier Project, the one with the Media showing "Offline." Can you relink your Video files from the Project Panel? What happens, when you try this?
It sounds as though something has changed on your system, and it does relate to the CODEC for the MPEG files.
Robert Johnson is possibly correct with regards to Quicktime, and has pointed you to a very necessary "next step," with G-Spot. It will do several things for you:
1.) survey your system for all properly installed CODEC's
2.) tell you all about your particular MPEG files
3.) tell you of problems with your particular MPEG files
4.) if all is good, allow you to test render and play your MPEG files
Without the data from a program, like G-Spot, anything that we might suggest would be just a shot in the dark. G-Spot is a freeware program, available at www.headbands.com/gspot.
It is most likely that something has changed on your system from the time that you could work on the first Project, and now. This could be something that you might not even be aware of, such as a Windows' update. It could also be the installation of something like a CODEC "pack," that has messed up the installation of existing CODEC's. QuickTime is a very likely candidate, and the newest version *might* help.
    Good luck,
    Hunt

  • TS3391 iMovie 11 is not working. I try to open it and it says it is generating thumbnails for one of my previous projects. All the commands are gray. I have to force it to quit. I just want to capture clips to start a new project.

iMovie 11 is not working. I try to open it and it says it is generating thumbnails for one of my previous projects. All the commands are gray. I have to force it to quit. I just want to capture clips to start a new project. I googled the problem and there were discussions about deleting files in various folders and renaming clip extensions. I don't like the solutions I saw there and I am not sure they will work.

Nobody replied so I called Apple. They seemed to think they could fix the problem but I had to agree to pay about $20 first. I told them to put it down as a complaint. I only want to use the software I bought. I can't see that it is my fault it is malfunctioning. I guess I will have to pay. It doesn't seem right.

  • How do I add another movie to the project area to work on without it being attached to a previous project?

How do I add another movie to the project area to work on without it being attached to a previous project?

No.  I have a number of items in the Event Library.  I am trying to move some of them to the Project Library and when I do it attaches itself to the other project I have there.

  • When attempting to edit a project in the PWA I receive the error: 'An error occurred while opening your project. Give us a few minutes and try again...' Project Server 2013

    Hello,
I am hoping someone can assist with the error we are encountering when trying to edit a project from the PWA in Project Server 2013.  I can click on the project name and go to the detail page and I can
click and see the schedule.  However, if I click on a task in the schedule and attempt to edit it, I receive the following error:
'An error occurred while opening your project. Give us a few minutes and try again. If this happens again, contact your administrator.'
At this point I must click cancel twice to get rid of the error pop-up message.  At this point, I am no longer able to look
at the schedule of the project either.  Can someone assist with this issue?
    Thanks

  • After editing a project, my imported files disappear.

After editing a project, my imported files disappear.  White page with yellow triangle alert.  Instructions say I need to relink my files, but I can't find that option anywhere.  Version 10.0.  Using OS X 10.9.2

Can I share and export from the 10.1.1 Trial?  My son downloaded the original for me under his apple id, I don't know what his password was so I can't upgrade.  He was killed a couple years ago so I don't have anyway to recover it.  But I'm working on a project that I need to get out right away.  Figured I'd try the new version before I buy it.  I clicked to upload to youtube, but can't tell if it's doing anything or not.

  • Final cut X-- how do you open previous projects?

i must be missing something really basic. How do you open previous projects in Final Cut X? When I try to open one it hangs on "loading (nameofproject) into time line.

You need to provide more information. Are you seeing it within the FCP interface properly when you go to show the Project Library?  If so, I would click on it to select it and then open the Inspection window and click on Modify Event References and select proceed from there. I'm assuming you have not moved the project from it's proper folder....

  • Imovie won't play or edit a project

    Hi
Can someone help?  All of a sudden I can't edit a project and the preview window is just blank.  Before the cursor would drag the playhead so I could edit.  Now it's just a "hand" icon and I can't do anything.  In addition I can't preview any project there is just a black screen.  When I press play on a project the play head won't move.  Help!

    Hi Robert,
You may have already tried this, but quit iMovie then re-open it. If that doesn't fix things, shutdown and reboot your Mac.
Failing that, try deleting iMovie's preference file. It's located in your User (Home) folder Library/Preferences and (for iMovie '11) is named "com.apple.iMovieApp.plist" (also see NOTE below).
Close iMovie then drag this file to the Trash. When next opened, iMovie will create a fresh .plist file with the default settings, which you can change if desired in iMovie>Preferences in iMovie's menu.
Deleting the preference file will not harm your Events or Projects but may fix iMovie's unusual behaviour. The file can become corrupted in some circumstances, such as when iMovie quits unexpectedly or is Force Quit.
NOTE: For users of iMovie '09, the preference file is named "com.apple.iMovie8.plist". Earlier versions will have a similar name.
    John
