Editing printing-settings with AirPrint

Hello. Just bought myself an Epson Stylus SX445W from the Apple Store, AirPrint compatible.
On my computer I can edit the printing-settings, but they only affect printing from the computer itself (for example if I edit settings to print out in black and white, the computer will, while the iPad won't).
Reason I want settings changed is because printing from the iPad is extremely slow, while printing from the computer or other devices is fast.
So, is there any way to edit the printing settings from the iPad?

And in other words, replacing my Epson-printer with a HP-printer will solve my problem?
I'd say it's a definite maybe.
Seriously, it will likely depend on the HP printer you choose.  Some people have reported issues with the "all in one" printers that print documents and photos.  Sometimes these pull photo paper when printing an email, for example.  I use an HP LaserJet CP1525, that is compatible with AirPrint.  It only prints on regular paper, not photo paper, so I don't have an issue with paper choice.  Printing emails and web pages uses the full 8.5 x 11 inch size.  If I choose to print photos (on regular paper) Airprint prints them 4 x 6 inch and does not give me an option to change it.  However, if I print with the HP app, I can change size and paper type.  The app knows when you are printing a document, for example, and goes to the settings you used last.
Overall, I think the HP printers give you more flexibility than the other Airprint printers available from Canon or Epson.  The HP app is more sophisticated than the Epson or Canon apps too.

will a CP1518ni color laser printer work with airprint with my iPad?

    Hi Ijergen,
Yes you can use AirPrint as long as the printer is on the same network as the iPad.
You can also try Google cloud, I will be giving you links below on how to go about it.

  • Can you save print settings with a PDF?

I have an 8.5"x14" PDF. Is there anyway to save default print settings with this PDF so if a user opens it on their machine it defaults to printing to 8.5"x14" paper? Right now it always defaults to the standard 8.5"x11". I'm not sure this can be done because it seems like more of a specific users machine thing. I don't think you can save print settings with a PDF can you?
    Thanks!

The "auto-formatting" of a hardcopy print format is generally the realm of the output device, in this case the printer. Printer software gereally includes an auto-format feature that selects the proper bin. For those who only have a "letter" tray, it usually asks to feed the right format manually, or switch trays. This is not a PDF feature but an output device feature.
    Hope this helps.

  • HT4356 What about the iPad notes. Can we print them with Airprint?

They say we can use Airprint with Safari, Pages, Mail, etc. But no mention of Notes. Not mentionning we can't either. Can we? My dad had a Canon printer compatible with Airprint. Both the updates has been made on the iPad and Canon software. When trying to print it says they can't find the Airprint. "Aucune imprimante Airprint détectée", to use the exact same word.
    Thanks!

If he has a Canon printer that is compatible with Airprint, and he has upgraded the printer Firmware, you should be able to print.  In fact, you should be able to print emails, web pages, notes, AND photos through Airprint.  The Canon app should add more capability when printing photos (e.g., choice of paper types, paper sizes, image sizes, etc) that Airprint does not offer, so the Canon app is good to have for photos.
Make sure his iPad is connected to the same wifi network as the printer.
Try turning the printer off then on again.  This will reset it.
What kind of a router is he using?  Airprint needs Bonjour to talk to the router.  There may be a firmware upgrade for that too.

  • Printing Photos with AirPrint to Epson Px730Wd produces white edge

    All,
I have just bought a new Epson PX730WD and have a small problem when printing photos via AirPrint.  I always get a 3mm white edge on the right hand side of my photos.  Printing the same photo from Epson iPrint app works fine and it works from my PC as well, but using AirPrint via the native photo app always produces this white edge. Very annoying as I prefer to use the native functions when available, but cannot be doing with this edge.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks
    Chris

I have contacted Epson Support and they told me to try the iPrint app which I did and it worked fine.  So the problem seems to lie somewhere between airprint and the printer recognising what is being sent via airprint.  I can't find an Epson forum where these type of issues are discussed.  I was hoping someone else may have an tried airprint with a PX730wd to see what results they get.

  • I just purchased a hp laser jet printer m1217 with AirPrint, i am unable to get it to connect to my time capsule wirelessly, i am currently using WPA2 personal any suggests

I Just puchased a HP laserjet printer M1217, i am trying to print wirelessly , the printer doesnot recognise my network, i am using a apple timemachine using WPA2 personal, anyone have any ideas

Don't know if you ever figured this out but here is the answer...
I just spent the last two days on this and have finally sorted it out. It actually isn't that hard to do but for some reason, no one has consolidated the information in one place!
First and foremost, make sure that you have all the latest and greatest firmware updates for your printer, your computer and your mobile devices.
Next, you need to connect your printer to your network via an ethernet cable, this is the only way to get in to the printer softare to configure it for your wireless network.
Navigate the printer menus on the keypad to Reports>Config Report and print this report. It will provide you with the IP adress and IPv4 address for the printer.
With the printer connected to your network and powered on, point your browser to the IP address of the printer. If this doen't work (it didn't for me) use the IPv4 address.
This will open the configuration panel for the printer and will let you configure the wireless for the printer so that it can join your wireless network. You will see various tabs across the top. Select network. Then along the left you will see wireless. Choose that. Now you should see a list of wireless networks available including your very own home network. Choose that one, enter your password and hit apply.
Disconnect the ethernet cable and you should be ready to Airprint from all devices. This worked for me, I can't imagine it won't work for all...then again...

  • Can't open print settings with CS5 and Epson R1900

In Photoshop CS5, go to File > Print.  In the Print dialogue window, click on Print Settings... and no response.  The blue Print button in the lower right corner flashes when I click, but nothing else happens.
I've tried running Photoshop in 32-bit mode as well.  Doesn't behave differently.
Running on a Mac Pro 2.26 GHz (most current generation).
    12 GB RAM
    OS 10.6.4
Printer is connected to Airport Extreme USB (most current generation).
Can successfully print with CS4; seems to be a new issue with CS5.
Hope I've included enough info to troubleshoot this problem.
    Thanks for any help!
    Brian,.

I've been trying to trouble shoot this problem since the beginning of September. I wasn't sure if it was a snow leopard issue, a Driver issue, or a CS5 issue. I guess it's CS5. I recently discovered the work around of asking Photoshop to manage the colors, opening the print settings, saving, then returning to printer managing colors but this just doesn't cut it in our graphics lab. We need the settings to be as straight forward as possible for our students.
Also, unrelated sort of, Photoshop remembers the settings from the previous print job. Which again doesn't work well in a lab/public environment. So if jimmy printed 20 copies of a file and set it to print colors as gray; Susie, the next in line, would have the same print settings for her file. This seems to only happen with photoshop. Not Preview, not safari, nor any other program.
We're seriously considering moving back to CS4.
...at least that had contact sheets.

  • My iPad 2 used to printer flawlessly with airprint printer.

My Ipad 2 used to printer flawlessly with my Canon airprinter printer.  It no longer recognizes the printer.  I've shut down both the printer and iPad 2 and it still does not work.  Any suggestions?  BTW, printer works fine with computer wirelessly.

    For troubleshooting:
Turn Off iPad, WiFi router (remove from power), and Printer (remove from power).
    Turn on WiFi router
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on printer
    Wait 30 seconds
    Turn on iPad
    Try to print.

  • I have an epson workforce 600 which is not listed as airprint enabled. has anyone made this printer work with airprint?

i have an epson workforce 600; it is not listed as one of the printers that is airprint enabled.
has anyone made it work with airprint? if so, please tell me how.
    thanks.

The Workforce 600 is not AirPrint-compatible. Epson has an app that enables printing to some of their other wireless printers. Search the iTunes Store or look to the support resources for your model of printer. Third-party printing apps such as PrintCentral are also available. All such apps have limitations, so check them out thoroughly before you pay for any such app.
You could also route the printing through your computer. If you have a Mac, Printopia would be worth a look. Fingerprint is another option that is available for both Mac OS X and Windows system. You could also consider an AirPrint-capable print server. Lantronix makes a couple of models, including one that supports a USB printer:

  • Printing settings with my G5 OSX 10.5 and Epson Photo 1280

I am having trouble with setting the printouts for some of my documents since I installed the Leopard.
I usually switch my text printing to 360 paper and make sure the printing color is black before I print ordinary documents. Now, in many cases, I can't access the right paper......often, all I can choose is Matte heavyweight. My Mac is G5X 10.5 and my printer is Epson 1280/ Can I get some help on this?
    Thanks. Jennifer C

    I'm using a 2200 with 10.5.4 with Epson 3.09 with CS3 and LR 1.4.1. Haven't migrated to LR2 yet - part of this week's plan.
The monitor is calibrated and I'm using Epson paper profiles.
    I'm getting very good results.
The only issue is I'm still new enough to the Mac that I still some times don't get all the print setting straight when I start a session and get no one/every one color managing - but that's just me. I'm still getting used to the differences in where/how the set up for print work flow differs from Windows. It's probably been the one area that has caused me more trouble (not a lot I'll add) in the migration over the last few months.

  • Printing differences with LR4+ between Windows 8 and iMac

Hi. I have using my iMac running the latest version of OS-X with LR printing currently to an Epson XP-600 with pretty good results, that is, the print matches the screen with few exceptions.
I recently installed my second allowable copy of LR4 to a new HP laptop running Windows 8 and the prints, using the same photos, are way off both in darkness and in color shift. The Printer interfaces look different but many of the options are the same. I currently let the printer control the prints (with either computer) but tried separate profiles as well. No real change. Here is the important part... The only other program I have on the new Laptop that can print photos is Microsoft PowerPoint and the photos printed with PowerPoint are identical to the photos printed in LR on the iMac! So... somehow the Windows LR is changing the parameters.
I have compared settings between the two computers (only one opened at a time) over and over and ran through a set of ink cartridges trying to match either LR/iMac or Windows PowerPoint to the LR Windows photos to no avail. Am I missing something obvious? Why don't the LRs print the same with the same settings regardless of the operating system? Both are 64 bit computers. Any thoughts would be appreciated... thanks! Andy

Thank you for replying, Rikk. However I respectfully disagree with you. I wasn't comparing the printed photo to the laptop monitor but to the other computer's printed photo (and to the iMac's monitor by extension). Big difference. I deliberately let the printer manage color because with the iMac, the print matched the monitor without profile control. In Windows, I also let the printer manage color so LR, let alone the monitor, should have no influence on color, much like the PowerPoint print as you mentioned. The printer, if printer settings are the same, should produce the same print in OS-X or Windows 8. The PowerPoint print matching the LR print on the Mac proves this to be true IMHO.
To put it another way, I'm not trying to match the Windows print to the Laptop monitor, which is not only uncalibrated but somewhat irrelevant. The two monitors look nothing alike with regard to color. Neither monitor should actually influence the print when compared to the other print using identical printer settings with LR set to printer control.
Please do not think I'm trying to be contentious here, I'm not, but to put it a third way, If I print the photo from another program (iPhoto) on the iMac, it looks identical to the print in LR on the iMac. Because the printer is in control. On the Windows computer, printing in and out of LR, with printer settings the same, do not. That's what I'm trying to find out.
Finally with respect to your last sentence, that's my whole point. I believed I had turned off color awareness in LR on both computers. I don't need it. Apparently, I didn't turn it off on the Windows computer and I would love to know why it didn't go off?
    Thanks, Andy
PS You deserve an explanation as to why I use the printer control and no profiles. The answer is somewhat serendipitous: With this particular printer (and I've had many), when the printer is set to manage the color, the prints, for whatever reason, very closely match the iMac monitor (which is calibrated), even moreso than with printer color OFF and ICC profiles employed. I've tried them all. I only use one kind of paper. If I call up a photo of my grandchildren, the print matches the iMac display close enough for my needs. What I see is what I print. Why change it?

  • AI CC 2014.1.1 (18.1.1) no longer saves print settings

Recently, and for as long as I can remember, AI saved print settings with the document. Now this no longer seems to be the case. One must manually set EACH print setting prior to printing, even previously saved documents.  :-(  This used to save a lot of time, but now requires extra time to re-set up each doc for printing, EACH TIME it is printed.
    Bummer.

I want a basic cheap printer that I can use wirelessly to print from the ipad2 to.  Want to print pictures mainly but sometimes so regular docs - don't want scanner, fax etc.

Any wireless printer works with AirPrint on the iPad 2. If you only need printing and not scanning, etc. just be sure NOT to get an All-in-one. Other than that, anything is fine.
