Editing PS Actions in text editor

Hi everyone,
A while back I created an Action in PSCS6. One of the steps in the action resized the document using the Image Size command window. I wanted to change the value from 800 pixels (height with constrain proportions) to 400 pixels. I first saved the Action using the Save Actions command using a different name and then opened it in Notepad text editor. I located the entry and changed the '8' to a '4' and saved my work. Then  I relaunched PS and tried to import the new action using the Load Actions command.
Instead of the action loading into the Actions panel, I got an error message:
Could not load the actions because the file is not compatible with this version of Photoshop.
anyone know why changing one character would render the file useless?

The action palette is a full fledged action editor is a simple drag  and drop to dupe your action then all you need do is edit the step you want to change then rename the Action copy.

  • Edit Actions and Advanced Actions in some kind of text editor

    Is there any way to edit Actions and Advanced Actions in some kind of text editor?
    The built-in GUI is fine for little tweaks, but trying to use it for anything real is a almost impossible.
    Can Creative Suite open a Captivate project and give access to the Actionscript in the project?
    Is there a text file someplace that can be extracted, editted, and put back in?

    Hello,
    has the feature to edit  Actions and Advanced Actions using a text editor been implemented into the new Captivate 7?
    I'm facing the problem that I have very extensive Advanced Actions in Captivate in which I want to change a variable x into a variable y. Doing it manually would take  about a day or so.
    It would be great if there was some kind of workaround.

  • Can I open .ai file w/ text editor and edit linked file path?

    I want to relink a placed file in a lot of illustrator files to a new file with a different name. I've tried setting up various actions but it is not doing what I need. If I open the file in a text editor such as Notepad++ or Text Wrangler, I can find the linked file path in two places, if I edit this path and save the file (still with .ai extension) I thought the link would change, but when I reopen the file, it does not change. Any ideas?
    If I make an action to relink a file, the action will only place a new file but not replace the old one. I also can't get it to place into a specific layer.
    Any ideas?

    CSS files are plain text with no links, so what you see is all there is.
    In order to apply CSS to HTML, you need a <link> tag in your HTML.
    If you install the Web Developer Extension from the Firefox add-ons site, there is a handy "Edit CSS" sidebar that lets you play with style rules and see the effects live. Note that this pane is not saved, so if you switch tabs, you lose your changes. Make sure to copy out any changes you want to remember.

  • Dynamic Action in CKE Editor / rich text

    Dear fellow developers,
    I created some dynamic actions in Apex 4.1.1, which allow me to create function keys in my application.
    For example on "key-down F10" a modal dialog opens or upon hitting "F11" the user is redirected.
    While this works as long as my Selection Type is DOM object "document", the actions are not fired once I enter the rich text editor (CKE) and it has received focus.
    Have you got an idea how to solve this problem?
    Creating an identical dynamic action and setting the Selection Type to jQuery Selector #cke_2 is to no avail.
    Many thanks,
    Sebastian

    No one having a hint?
    It is obviously due to the fact that the ckeditor is embedded in an iframe, which I don't have a selector for.
    I was able to add an id "#ckeditor" to the body of the iframe content but the usage of it fails.
    Maybe some code will illustrate it a little better:

  • After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting)

    After applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, I have provided content to
    the page more than 100 lines and try to format the text from ribbon actions(format text area). On mouse over of font or fore color, the control jumps to the highlighted content area and not able to select the color. The page scrolls down and not able to click
    on any action.
    Consider this scenario also.
    A content editor web part is added toward the bottom of the page.
    Text is added to this (direct in the web part, not via a 'content link')
    You highlight some text and go to the Markup Style dropdown...
    Everything is fine until you hover over the "Paragraph" markup style, and suddenly the page scrolls to the web part you are editing, and you didn't have a chance
    to click and apply the "Paragraph" formatting
    I have tried testing this with text typed directly into the Content Editor, text pasted in from somewhere else, and text pasted in from somewhere else using "Paste as
    Plaintext" option in the ribbon.  In each scenario, I get the same results.
    Furthermore, I have also tested this in both IE8 and IE9 and get the same results.
    I can get it to occur most regularly with trying to apply the Paragraph "Markup Style" but
    I've also seen this happen with Font Size (any font size).  It's very frustrating since you aren't able to actually apply the formatting you need because the page jumps before you can click.  Has anyone experienced this before. Any feedback would
    help.

    Hi,
    According to your post, my understanding is that after applying full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, Text editor ribbon actions cause page to automatically scroll down (while applying formatting).
    I try to apply full scroll bar to the page including header and footer, the ribbon is missing after I scroll down to the web part. And I cannot apply the "Paragraph" markup style to the content.
    I recommend to use the SharePoint core styles to preserve the native functionality and GUI.
    By design in SharePoint, the ribbon is always at the top. When you select the content, you can apply the "Paragraph" markup style in the ribbon.
    Thanks,

  • Where can I find a user-guide for the awfull Text-Editor used to enter/edit these forums entries?

    I am desesperate to understand how quite basic functions (just as one of many examples: how can I paste text, that I have formatted in MS Word and want to paste into a Forum Post-Entry?) can be done with the primitive and awful Text Editor used to enter/edit Forum Entries. Notice, that like many other Adobe users, I am not familiar at all with HTML and it is therefore a description of the badly named "Full Editor" that I am looking for.
    Where can I find a User-Guide for this Text Editor?
    My recommendation to Adobe: exercise enough  brute pressure on the developers of this primitive Text Editor to force them to provide something more reasonable, more powerful and more intuitive.

    Thank You Jochem
    I was trying to understand how I could do things as simple as inserting text that I had previously copied. Since there are neither command menüs nor buttons for the Insert of previously copied text, I was trying a mouse right click.....and was being offered in the context menu the choice between "Insert Link", "Insert Image", "Alignement", and "Insert Table"....... but no possibility of a plain insert of previously copied text.
    Now, I realize, that Clearstream supports at least the keyword shortcut of "Ctrl V" ........that I am not using in any other software (I never use any keyboard shortcuts).
    Since Clearstream does not support reasonable choices in the contextual menus, I will need to memorize the most important keyword shortcuts.
    By the way: I detected now, that the "Ctrl V" keyboard shortcut allows me to insert formatted text.
    Even, if I will now begin to be able to use reasonably Clearstream, I am quite surprised to see that such a software provides neither reasonable Contextual Menus, nor a User Guide, nor........
    Thank you again Jochem for your patience with me.

  • Text editor control to be made non-editable

    Hello Experts,
    Need a small help from you people.
    I need to make a text editor control  non-editable,i n a sub-screen; depending upon the value of a field on the main screen. Can you please let me know of the easiest way out with this?
    Thanks in advance,
    Kumud.

    HI,
    You can write a code in PAI of main screen. there by using loop at screen you can make that field editable or disabled.
    Code sample:
    loop at screen.
    ****condition for value check
    if screen-name = 'TEXT_EDIT_NAME'
    screen-output = 1.
    screen-input = 0.
    modify screen.
    endif.
    endloop.
    Hope this will help you.

  • Editing a long list of hyperlinks (200+) with a text editor

    I am running a number of Muse site for a non profit organization and  we export our finished HTML files to a LAMP stack where scripts are used to extract data from our SQL database.
    For example one possible hyperlink would be http://dev.myrewards.com/phone/rewards.cgi?category=electronics
    This will display a list of electronic rewards on the Users phone when they click on a button or menu item that is attached to the hyperlink inside Muse
    At the moment we have about 300 reward catergories that change ALL the time. As of now we have to edit the hyperlinks manually inside Muse, which often results in transcription errors and missing rewards.
    Is it possible to access the Muse hyperlink list as a text file, edit it in a standard text editor, then return the edited hyperlink list to Muse?

    Hi
    If you are using any document, image for hyperlink to page content then you can check the contents used in assets folder , but if those are urls then we need to do that manually.
    Or as a workaround, you can create a PDF with links and link that PDF on page for details where users can open the document and click on links. This way when you need to update/change the links you can make the changes in PDF document. But yes this would be will be manual.
    Thanks,

  • Newbie help with sample Studio app. "Plain Text Editor"

    I'm trying to make the jump from AppleScript to AppleScript Studio, and because I want to eventually write a document producing application I thought I'd start with the textbook example "Plain Text Editor" included with Xcode. I think I see how menu items are connected to "Target/Actions," and I was able to build and run it without difficulty. It's remarkable how little AppleScript had to be written to produce a rudamentary text editor. But in playing with the built application, I noticed that the Revert menu item does not work exactly as expected.
    If you create a text document, and then make some change to it, and then click the Revert menu item, you get the expected little dialog asking if you want to revert to the most recently saved version, but if you then click the Revert button, the text displayed in the text view object does not revert to the original. However, something is happening, because whatever code is behind the Save, Close, and Quit menu items does seem to be "aware" that the Revert item has been invoked: because if you click one of these after Revert, the "do you want to save changes?" warning doesn't appear, just as one might expect.
    The Revert menu item seems to be connected to a "Target/Action" called "revertDocumentToSaved:" which sounds perfectly reasonable. But does the fact that Revert doesn't cause the displayed editing text to revert mean that (a) there is a bug in the code behind this Target/Action, or (b) that the writer of this textbook example just didn't bother to do everything needed for the Revert item to work in an intuitive manner?
    Whichever the answer, what would I do to make it work properely?
    It seems like there must be some sort of connection between the text view object in the editing window, and the Close, Save, Quit suite of menu items, because the behavior of these is dependant on whether or not there are unsaved changes in the text view object. But looking through the Inspector for this object, I don't see any, neither AppleScripts, nor Outlets, nor Target/Actions. Where and for what should I be looking?

    Dual 1.2 GHz   Mac OS X (10.4.8)

    I think -- and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong -- that this is a place where AppleScript Studio's implementation just isn't done right. Either they intended to add a "revert" handler somewhere and forgot, or else they meant to have it send an existing message and didn't.
    I haven't done any document-based applications -- heck, I've only dabbled slightly in AppleScript Studio -- so there may be a "deeper" answer to this, but you might consider just hooking the menu item up to send its "choose menu item" handler to your document script, and have it react accordingly.

  • Sandy - a simple text editor

    sandy - a simple text editor
    Sandy is a X11 text editor with an easy-to-read, hackable C source. It uses GTK+ and GtkSourceView for convenience and is akin to surf, only it is a text editor, not a web browser. Sandy tries to maximize screen estate, minimize the SLOC used and not get in your way too much. It can somehow be controlled via XProperties and all preferences and keybindings are to be chosen at compile time. Two example configs are provided with the source.
    Features
    - Basic editing, saving, etc.
    - One document per instance
    - Embeddable (e.g. can use http://tools.suckless.org/tabbed for tabs)
    - Regex search, go to line functionalities
    - Pipe selection through arbitrary command
    - Pipe selection through predefined command(s)
    - Syntax highlighting
    - Line numbers, current line highlightnig
    - Simple autoindenting
    - Multi-level undo
    - Configurable at compile-time
    Dependencies
    - GtkSourceView2
    - Gtk+2
    - (probably) xorg-utils to get xprop to set XProperties
    - one method to grab user input: either zenity or dmenu in the pre-defined config files

    ^R, sed command: 1,3s/^/%%%/
    1 %%%abc
    2 %%%dec
    3 %%%abd
    4 edc
    5 {CURSOR}ad
    So you can edit and continue where you left off.
    The problem with implementing this behavior is 'sed' is an external command here. The full text is filtered through sed and put back in the buffer, not just lines 1 to 3. You can't just preserve the insert position as the text coming from the pipe might be completely different from your original. Same for searching the current line.
    You *could* remember your line+char position and move the cursor back there, but this would be highly unreliable and move the cursor to a third position in the buffer if your 's' command changes the number of lines (e.g. try s/:/\n/g in a password file)
    Also, a couple of tests with vim prove that it does not behave consistently in this regard, despite :s being an internal command there.
    if you really want to add '%%%' at the beginning of the line quite often, I suggest you define a binding or action for:
    t_editable, t_pipelines, { .v = (char *)"sed \'s/^/%%%/\'" }
    Then select the lines you want to target lousily (you don't need to select full lines) and launche the binding/action. It does move the cursor, but seems fairly quick.
    Procyon wrote:Maybe you can check for "/^s/" in the command to make it work on this current line, just like vim's :s///
    I made a wee change in the hg tip code. Now sandy "listens" to three properties regarding pipes:
    - _SANDY_PIPE: Pipes the selected text, or nothing by default as per f_pipe. This is used by the ^I binding in the default config.
    - _SANDY_PIPEALL: Pipes the selected text, or the full file if nothing is selected as per f_pipeall. This is used by the ^P binding in the default config.
    - _SANDY_PIPELINES: Pipes the selected text, extending the selection to full lines and matching the current line if there is no selection as per f_pipelines. This is used by the ^R binding in the default config. This means now sed is applied to full lines if there is a selection and to the current line if there is not.
    Thanks for your feedback. I hope this helps.

  • Display instantly the length of the text entered in the rich text editor

    Hi everybody,
    I'm developing an apex application with apex 4.1.1 and Oracle 11.2.
    I have a page in which I have a form that allows to create a new message on the database.
    A message has a title, description, text and date.
    For the text I use the item "rich editor text". The problem is that item doesn't show the length of characters entered (character counter for the textarea). In the database the corresponding column is varchar2(2000). What I do is a validation after submit that checks if the limit 2000 was exceeded or not.
    But what I want to do more is to display instantly the length of the text entered in the editor. I have tried to do that through a dynamic action. But the event "onChange" for the item "rich text editor" didn't work.
    Has anyone any idea about that issue?
    Thanks for helping.
    Kind regards,

    sorry about that, I missed that tidbit in your OP... well I think there is a good reason why there isn't a count character option -- due to the hidden "html" characters responsible for the "richness" (bold/color, etc) applied to the text would be difficult to count true characters.. if I was bent on doing this, I'd continue using the item you are using, but have a HIDDEN text area that is updated via javascript onkeyup for each keystroke (again, keeping in mind you'd have to filter certain keys) and then that intelligence could be used. I would probably dig through the javascript responsible for the rich text editor (is it still fckeditor??) -- there might already be code in there that isn't clearly visible to you that does this already.. alas, I see now the validity of your challenge.

  • Adding custom buttons to the Rich Text Editor in CQ

    Hi,
    I have added custom buttons to the rich text editor in order to allow our editors to add specific content, such as popovers, custom videos and other data necessary data.
    I have successfully modifed the Rich Text editor so, that it includes the custom buttons in the actions panel.
    I have also managed to make the buttons work and include the data where necessary, when user highlights the text and clicks on a certain button.
    The last bit I am struggling with, is the visual feedback we give to the users when this text has associated action with it.
    E.g. when we select this text and make it bold when we click on the word B the button B becomes highlighted in the actions panel, later when we continue typing our text and click again on "bold" the letter B becomes highlighted again.
    Is there any button related callback/method I could overwrite to add this functionality and make my button highlighted ?
    Thanks,
    Puzanovs

    After lot's of thinking found a solution....
    Essentially the first step is to extend the CQ.form.rte.plugins.Plugin in your custom button.
    Then during the UI initialisation we create our "custom"
    var pressButton = new ui.TbElement("press-button", this, true,this.getTooltip("press-button")); // Essential extend of the button
    setInterval(function() {
                     if(window.jQuery) {
                         window.jQuery(document).ready(function () {
                             window.jQuery(".x-edit-glossary-insert").css({width:45,"background-image":"none"}); // Ignore the background
                             window.jQuery(".x-edit-glossary-insert").text("Press Button"); // Set the name
                            $(document).on({
                                mouseenter: function(){
                                  window.jQuery(".x-edit-glossary-insert").html("<b>Press Button</b>"); // Set the name bold
                                mouseleave: function(){
                               window.jQuery(".x-edit-glossary-insert").html("Press Button"); // Set the name normal
                             }}, '.press-button');
                 }, 100);
    tbGenerator.addElement("press-button", plg.Plugin.SORT_LISTS, pressButton, 10); // element is inserted
    Every time the element is inserted I add the following html
    <span class="press-button">Test peter</span>
    Now, every time in the editor, the content editor mouse overs the custom button it is higlighted in the RTE))

  • Web Standard, Crossgrades, New Text Editor

    I've been using "CS" since Macromedia Studio 8, but I didn't  upgrade to CS5 last year because there was no 'Standard' package offered.  I just don't need all the other stuff in the suite ... I don't even use everything in CS4 Web Standard.  If this  is just not ever going to come back, how about offering a discount on  crossgrading to the individual programs we need from the suite.  ie. a  discount for the individual licenses of Fireworks, Dreamweaver, and/or Flash Pro.  I just looked at the upgrade pricing for Web Premium CS5.5 ... it looks like the price just went up even more.
    I find it a little hard to believe there is not any demand for a smaller web suite, like CS4 Web Standard.  The only programs really necessary (for me) are a decent text editor with code hinting (Dreamweaver), a graphics program (either Photoshop or, for me, Fireworks), and maybe Flash Pro.  I just don't need all the other stuff in the package.  I would have just upgraded Fireworks, but I would have to pay full price for the individual program as there is no crossgrade option from CS to single program.  Surely there are other people out there that feel the same way.
    To be honest, I find myself using Dreamweaver and Flash less and less.  I've been using a "no frills" text editor and an open browser for most projects over the last year or so.  As far as Flash, I rarely open it - seems now just to edit an old app for a previous client.
    Which brings me to the last part ... "Dreamweaver Lite".  How would anyone feel about a light version of Dreamweaver?  Streamline it, get rid of the WYSIWYG editing and Live Preview, keep code hinting and the CSS inspector/builder.  Keep the 'projects' and FTP and add versioning (backups of latest document versions before going live).  Make it a really lightweight Adobe text editor with a small footprint.
    LOL, just re-read what I wrote ... looks like its kinda all over the place.  I think folks will get what I'm going for though.

    Hi Sonal,
    I have faced similar issue with respect to module pool with container on the screen.
    Try using the following on back action....
    call method wf_init_edit->delete_text.   (wf_init_edit -> editor reference - type ref to cl_gui_textedit )
    Also we can free the container using
    call method wf_init_cont->free.             (wf_init_cont -> container reference - type ref to cl_gui_custom_container )
    Hope it helps.

    We have portal release 2 running on HP-UX.
    In release 2 there is a new text editor for publishing text. Its used for simple text and text item types.

    Hi,
    It is called Rich Text editing. A search on google with the keywords rich text edit
    will give you links to quite a few sites, where the source is available. It uses
