Hello,
Is it possible for ZISEDIT directly from Settings.txt ? Also, being new
to ZEN imaging, is Settings.txt the place to be starting from for
managing imaging with scripts. Thank you for your assistance.

just put the stuff into the imaging edir object if you want to automate it.
the settings.txt is only really be used by bootcd.iso and the boot
partition

Can't Edit .txt and .pdf files in EP6 KM
We just migrated our last application from EP5 to EP6, and now we're having problems with not being able to edit .txt and .pdf files. The problem is that the files will only open in the browser rather than in their native programs (wordpad/notepad, Adobe Editor, etc). Surely others have encountered this issue. Are there any solutions short of installing 3rd party tools?

Which program opens on a link depends on two things:
1. The MIME-Type that is sent from the server together with the resource (file) you requested by clicking a link
2. Your Windows Setting defining which local application should be used for which MIME Type.
So there may be two things happening:
1. EP 6 is sending other (or no) MIME Types with the KM resources. You can check this in your KM configuration. See KM -> Services -> MIME Service
2. Your OS got the settings for apps/MIMEs changed. This happens e.g. if you changed on Win XP to SP 2.
So here may be a solution:
Go to Windows Explorer->Tools->Folder
Options->File Types, click on the TXT extention, and click
"Delete". Then proceed to recreate the TXT file type with the
default app you want (notepad).
IE will open your app (notepad) for links to text files from that point
on.
So, to check this for text files, open the registry editor, go to
"My Computer\HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.txt" (or .TXT), and check for a 'String
Value' with the value "text/plain".
This should work with any file type, as long as you use the right MIME Type (See KM configuration / MIME Services).

How do I edit my alias (and/or name) in the new "My Settings" panel ? The alias and name are not editable. When using myinfo.apple.com, there is no "alias" field. This seems to be only a feature in Discussions but is no more editable. Please help !
I think that the idea is good, although nothing prevents that a "bad" user can create a new account on each login.
The È is not the only problem. In Spain we use two last name, and in spanish translation of "my info", middle name is translated as first lasts name and english last name as second last name, so my alias is completely wrong (name + second last name).
I think that nothing could happen if "good" users could change the alias once. I tried day after the warning, and I couldn't. -
My iPhone 5 operates at about the speed of dial-up internet. Every time I try to do something I have to wait. My harddrive is not even close to being full and I always close out of my programs so I am confused. It is mainly a problem with contacts (adding, editing, viewing, anything). I also occasionally hardware reset (power and home button same time) to try and help but to no avail. Is this an Apple issue that a trip to the Apple Store will take care of? I am just sick and tired of having upgraded to an iphone 5 only to step backwards in speed and performance, plus switching over deleted over half of my contacts even though I had icloud set up on my 4 and also on my 5 so it should have been seamless. Is my phone a lemon?
If you have force quit all applications, performed a hard reset, software is at 6.1.4, then the device needs to be restored as new. I recommend to sync, transfer, and import all data to your computer and restore as new at this point. It is the same steps the Apple Store is going to do, its a software issue, not a hardware issue right now.

I have tried to save my PDF settings after editing them, but when I go to "Print" to PDF and check the settings I keep getting Standard default settings.
There is no Adobe PDF listed as a file heading to change conversion settings on my Word screen.
I have tried to create a PDF by open file through the Adobe application and also by trying to print through the Word application with document open and using Adobe PDF as the printer driver.I have changed or edited the settings but they do not appear as an option to select, just the standard default settings.
I have been able to save my setting as a Adobe PDF job options, but can't access them or use them when it comes time to convert to PDF.
Any help would be appreciated. ThanksI have apprached it 3 different ways:
- by opening acrobat and going to preferrences, clining on convert to PDf
- Microsoft Word, then changes each section of the edit settings, ie
general, fonts, images, etc make the cahneges then hit OK, at this point I
get a save as option rather than a save. It saves my changes as a PDF, but I
am not able to access it when I go to make the PDF.
- I also have tried to print PDF from Word and got to properties to make
the changs with the same results as above.
- Then I tried yur suggestion and went to the printer in the control panel
and had the same results.

I think the problem may be I am using a "trial" version of Adobe Acrotbat DC

When I try to edit settings on anything I can't. For example, when I go to tools, options the window opens and I can't selct anything. When I hover the mouse over the icons or buttons they highlight, but when I click the mouse button it doesn't work. I can't even shut down the browser with the red square, I have to shut down via task manager. It started after I added the Windows Media Player add on. I tried to remove it, but I can't because the exact same thing happens when I open the Add on menu!! It happens to everything from the top menu.

I'm considering buying CC LR/PS package. My camera is Sony a7 - raw ARW. I've been editing using PSE10 and ver 8.7 of the external Adobe DNG converter. Will I be able to open the DNG files in LR with the edits preserved? Will I be able to open the PSD files in LR with the edits preserved? Any import/catalog etc issues between PSE10 and LR?
Lightroom has no problem reading DNG files. Whether the edits you have done to the DNGs you have originally edited in Photoshop Elements 10 I'm not sure. ACR edits made to DNGs are saved in the DNG file itself, as apposed to a XMP sidecar file, so LR should see those edits. At the worst you will get an exclamation mark in the upper right hand corner of the imported DNGs and clicking on that exclamation mark you will get a dialog box asking you to either import settings from disk or overwrite settings. you would select import settings from disk.

For your information. I use the next to test Multicash porcessing in SAP.
FF.5 with direct processing OFF and save the files to lacal disk. This is used to perform the translation of MultiCash to the SAP formats AUSZUG & UMSATZ. Be shure to have the right program assigned to FF.5, as you will see there is a large choice.
Next. use FF_5. to upload the AUSZUG & UMSATZ. the RFEBKA00 program that is behind this transaction is the main processing program. It reads the files and performs the posting, using algorithmes like 001 and 901 to find the open items that should be cleared wit the payment. -
So here's my problem. I just used the "reset all settings" option, and accidentaly restored an old backup. It deleted all my photos and contacts, but for some reason I still have all the apps from after the backup date,and it also kept the notes from after the backup. The "reset all settings" option clearly says no loss of data or media, so I don't understand why some stuff got deleted. My question is, is there a way to get it back?
If you still can find a recent backup listed in iTunes/Edit/Preferences/Devices, use this one to restore from.
If there are no recent backups listed, your data is gone. Only if you included the iTunes backup folder into your computer backup routine, you could be able to restore this folder and find one of your latest backups listed again.

I would like to fix the "Local edit" function for both Firefox and Internet Explorer. The standard settings, the ActiveX component, work for IE, no problem there but this doesn't work for Firefox.
The SAP Help tells me to change these settings from ActiveX component to Java Applet to fix this feature for "Internet Explorer and the Netscape Browser", which I did.

So, the ActiveX component works fine for IE but doesn't work in Firefox, the Java Applet doesn't work in IE (error "Operation failed") and doesn't work in Firefox.
Any ideas to get local editing working in BOTH browsers or is this feature not working for Firefox?
PS: we use the SAP EP 6 SP 14 and the Java 1.5.0 Runtime platform. In the portal I can only select Java Runtime 1.3 or 1.4, is this feature tested in 1.5?Hi Simon,
I think your problem is the 1.5 JRE.
We tried to use it sometiems ago with our portal, and had a lot of crash with it.
Please uninstall it, and use the last 1.4 JRE from

and set to local edit java parameter to 1.4.
It worked fine for us wit IE 6, but I did not test it with firefox however.

Step 1
For this step, the title of the Console window should be All Messages. If it isn't, select
SYSTEM LOG QUERIES ▹ All Messages
from the log list on the left. If you don't see that list, select
View ▹ Show Log List
from the menu bar at the top of the screen.
In the top right corner of the Console window, there's a search box labeled Filter. Initially the words "String Matching" are shown in that box. Enter the name of the crashed application or process. For example, if Safari crashed, you would enter "Safari" (without the quotes.)
Each message in the log begins with the date and time when it was entered. Select the messages from the time of the last crash, if any. Copy them to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination command-C. Paste into a reply to this message by pressing command-V.
☞ The log contains a vast amount of information, almost all of which is irrelevant to solving any particular problem. When posting a log extract, be selective. A few dozen lines are almost always more than enough.
Please don't indiscriminately dump thousands of lines from the log into this discussion.

Step 2
In the Console window, select
DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION ▹ User Diagnostic Reports
(not Diagnostic and Usage Messages) from the log list on the left. There is a disclosure triangle to the left of the list item. If the triangle is pointing to the right, click it so that it points down. You'll see a list of crash reports. The name of each report starts with the name of the process, and ends with ".crash". Select the most recent report related to the process in question. The contents of the report will appear on the right. Use copy and paste to post the entire contents—the text, not a screenshot.
I know the report is long, maybe several hundred lines. Please post all of it anyway.
If you don't see any reports listed, but you know there was a crash, you may have chosen Diagnostic and Usage Messages from the log list. Choose DIAGNOSTIC AND USAGE INFORMATION instead.
In the interest of privacy, I suggest that, before posting, you edit out the “Anonymous UUID,” a long string of letters, numbers, and dashes in the header of the report, if it’s present (it may not be.)
Please don’t post other kinds of diagnostic report—they're very long and rarely helpful. -
after updates to ios 5.1.1...i can't add or edit my contacts and also can't take a photo at my contact lists. The '+' icon is suddenly disappear from my screen...anybody can assist me on this issue?

In addition to my last post, here is the solution for fixing this problem without syncing your contacts with icloud.
It takes about 2 minutes and permanently solves the problem so you can start adding and editing your contacts again on IOS 5.1.1!
Basically you just need to follow these steps from the Settings page:
Enable Airplane Mode
Go to iCloud settings
Turn on Contacts
Agree to 'Merge Contact'
Wait for pop up to confim iCloud contacts are on
Turn off Contacts
Confirm that you want to Keep your Contact on the iPhone
Wait for pop up to confim iCloud contacts are off
Disable Airplane Mode
Airplane Mode temporarily blocks all phone signal/data to stop your contacts merging with icloud.

I have purchased Itunes Match, and go to Settings/Music and it tells me to subcribe to Itunes Match. I click on that and it says I am subscribed, but I can not get it to quit playing ADs. I have rebooted.. Nothing seems to work.

You cannot use iCloud.com on a mobile device, only on a computer. Documents in iCloud are available via the apps themselves on a mobile device. -
Empty text files - dl.txt and t.txt
I recently found these files on my hard drive and wondered what they are. They are blank when opening in text edit. Could they be malware? I googles dl.txt and it seems to show up a lot in torrent sites. Neither me or my husband ever use these sort of sites.
Is it safe to delete these files (they are in the trash right now). Are there any other mysterious txt files I should be concerned about?

KarenText files are not executable files so they are not going to do anything themselves. Short of having some sensitive info in them and you mailing them somewhere they aren't going to do anything.
One caveat in that statement. A text file could be an executable file but you would immediately know that because if you attempted to view it with a text editor it would look like gibberish to you, not a readable file. Further the executable flag needs to be set in the permissions. You can always view the permissions with the terminal ls command.

Note even if a text file is executable code, something or someone needs to launch it. For the case of "something" there would be other code somewhere in you system to do that. That other code would usually be launched from various places looked at when booting or logging in. Items that cause launches when booting will appear in the following directories:
/Library/LaunchAgents
/Library/LaunchDaemons
/Library/StartupItems
Items that are launhed when you log in are in,
your login items
~/Library/LaunchAgents (in your home directory)
It is your login items and all these directories you should first look at for possible malicious actions. You probably already have stuff in some of these already because some applications use them to start helper processes to do their work. Don't worry about what you currently see. Only worry if you suspect malicious or just plain unstable behavior.
