Editing software for my Cannon 5D

Is there an advantage to editing my photos from my 5D camera in photoshop instead of iphono?

I think the answer may depend on just what type of editing you want to do & how serious you are at extracting more from your better photos. lots of options & each step up the ladder has a learning curve. If you shoot in RAW DPP is a good place to start, and it's free & gets updated often. I prefer the RAW editor in Photoshop but it & DPP are both excellent once you learn how they work. If however you shoot jpg's primarily & just want something quick & easy (still very versatile) & you're on a PC I like Picasa which is also free. If you want to be more serious about processing jpg's then as mentioned PS Elements is a good place to start, but the learning curve will hold you back at first.
IF you decide to invest in Photoshop, or even Elements I highly recommend you sign up for a 1 month (or maybe 2 months) of lessons at Lynda.com. That will be the best way to learn short of taking a night school course.  .

  • HT202879 I would like to have a spreadsheet editing software for my new Template Numbers Pro but my operating system is 10.7.  Are there other editing software programs (less the 10.9) that can work with this app?

    Hi,
I am looking for some editing software for my new Template Numbers Pro.  Numbers is 10.9, my computer is only 10.7.  What do you suggest?
    Thanks,

That is good to know.  Frankly I don't know what kind of machine I have.  I have a Mac OSX Lion 10.7.3 early 2008.
If it's the "Templates for Numbers Pro" on the Mac App Store then you need OSX 10.7 or later.  You'll need iWork '09 or later.
It looks as if you want to use the iOS version of the same templates then you will need the latest Numbers there.  And if you use the latest Numbers there and want to sync to the Mac, you'll need to have Mavericks and Numbers 3.

I have Final Cut Studio V1 - the PPC/Intel V5/5.1 cross-grade version, which would suit your requirements perfectly. (I have it for sale at present down here).
If you keep looking, you're sure to find a similar second hand copy in your area, without the need to upgrade your graphics card.
I'd go for Final Cut Pro as above over any version of Express. FCP has the full version of LiveType - not the truncated version that was released later on.

HP is pretty reticent to revealing "Future Plans".  It would be a real shot in the arm though if this happens!
How about it @Ty1 ?  Can you shed any light on the subject?

Can anyone recommend a decent editing software for the S10, so far Power Director 7, Corel video studio and Magix movie pro can't play the video properly! Runs out of sync with the sound!!

    Hi
    Im using Nero!
    Yes, the Nero burning ROM.
This application supports different plug-ins and additional functions which allows you to create own movies, to convert it and to burn it on the DVD or CD.
But I used Adobe Premiere too its also a great tool its supports much more functions and its a more expensive.

  • What is the best video editing software for Mac?

I am trying to edit videos, specifically .wmv and .mpg files to put in PowerPoint presentations. What is the best software for cropping movies as well as cutting different scenes out of video (i.e. making a 2 minute video into a 30 second video). Thanks so much for the help.

iMovie will not edit WVM nor MPEG-1. You would need to convert the movies to one of the formats iMovie can accept before you could edit them. If you will need the movies to remain or end up in WMV or MPEG-1, I'd suggest looking to a different editor. StreamClip might work for just doing basic editing:
    http://www.squared5.com/svideo/mpeg-streamclip-mac.html
To edit WMV you'll need the paid Flip4Mac plugin from Telestream:

  • What's the best editing software for Scorceses-on-a-budget?

I'm interested in buying some editing software, a step-up from anything that's free and looks it (see countless YouTube videos), but I don't have a grand to shell out for the same Final Cut that Edward Norton uses. I have a MacBook running Leopard that I bought in the November of '07. Any and all recommendations and opinions appreciated. I haven't bought a new camera for it, I have a Flip and access to a Canon MiniDV which I'm not crazy about, so if anyone wants to throw in suggestions for cameras as well, please feel free.

Your Mac has a Firewire 400 port and USB port.
Does your Mac have Intel chips?
I notice that on the "movies" the local people have made, there's a slight white noise sound.
A sound track has some noise in it called Room Tone/Atmosphere as no noise is not in our real world, so some noise is acceptable. However some recordings are simply bad and full of unwanted noise.
A good audio track is one that no one actually notices. They simply listen instead of looking puzzled.
So are you pretty satisfied with FCE?
Yes. FCE is a good place to start. You will be penalized with an initial steep learning curve. How long depends on the individual and background.
Think of FCE as a manual camera where you make all the settings and decisions rather than a point and shoot camera.
Once you understand the settings and how things work, your work is only limited to your own creativity.
If you feel the need to go to FCPro (part of the FCS Package) then 90% of the stuff you have learnt in FCE is useable in FCPro. The learning has not been wasted.
In summary: if your Mac has Intel chips and you wish to edit DV, HDV or AVCHD, FCExpress will keep you happy and learning for quit a while.

  • Free photo editing software for Macs & PCs?

    Hi folks!
I am looking for a free photo editing software to use for an upcoming class. I have a MacBook at home, but I will be teaching in a classroom equipped with PCs. I was hoping to find a free software that students could practice on in class and then download free for use at home afterward.
Have been trying to download Gimp 2.8.2, but I can't get it to install on my Mac OS 10.6.8 - It downloads but will not start.
Please let me know any suggestions.
    Thanks in advance!

i guess i want something where you can directly play with the images...cut out a section of the picture.....replace it with something else (like add icon/pictures over top of it)
also, the ability to paint colors over the picture and alter them in other ways, not just image quality or resizing it...
if there are no free programs for this, what are some cheap ones?
i looked at the programs that have been posted alreaedy, and i don't think that they are really what im looking for...
    thank you!

  • Any suggestions on a good video editing software for MacBook Pro

I have just joined the MacBook Pro community would like an idea for good video software options

Also, compare the hardware specification (not just minimums) needed to actually
use the video editing software; plus consider external storage options of huge
capacity since most portable computers don't really have all that much storage.
A few years ago some suggested Avid Media Composer as professional software
but then in the same discussion, said the MacBook Pro may not be able to handle
the demands of the application; and went on to suggest an Apple Mac Pro tower.
Some software needs require further study prior to committing resources & funds
to discover perhaps the product may/may not be adequate. Avid likely is still costly.
Hopefully you can get a great editor with a few creative options, for a decent price.
    Good luck & happy computing!

  • Other photo editing software for the Mac

Couldn't really find a category to put this question, so please bare with me. I have read some stuff about iPhoto (any version?) sometimes giving problems. Was wondering what other kinds of photo editing software is good to use on Tiger. PhotoShop Elements etc.? I have a Sawtooth 400mHz with 620MB of RAM. My Tiger is the original release: 10.4, but plan on updating to a newer version shortly.
    Thanks.

To add to Larry's list: take a look at Pixelmator also.
These are some of the system requirements for iLife 08:
    "System Requirements
Mac computer with an Intel, PowerPC G5, or PowerPC G4 processor.
iMovie requires a Mac with an Intel processor, a Power Mac G5 (dual 2.0GHz or faster), or an iMac G5 (1.9GHz or faster). iMovie HD 6 can still be used and is preferred by many of us.
iDVD requires a 733MHz or faster processor.
512MB of RAM; 1GB recommended. High-definition video requires at least 1GB of RAM.
Mac OS X v10.4.9 or later.
    3GB of available disk space.
    DVD drive required for installation.
    QuickTime 7.2 or later.
Burning DVDs requires an Apple SuperDrive or compatible third-party DVD burner. "
It doesn't look like your G3 meets the system requirements. You may be able to install some parts of iLife 08 but I'm not sure. Do a search in this forum for "G3 and iPhoto" or other similar search criteria to see if others have been successful.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. It's compatible with iPhoto 6 and 7 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.

  • Editing software for html/newsletter??...

    Hello,
I have an email account with GoDaddy which doesn't have the best email editing software.
Is there some type of html editor which is great to use? I would love to create it in an easy to use program, then just paste it (by copying the actual html format/not in html code). The email site doesn't allow inputting of code.
    Thanks!

    Anyone??
