Editing Text in Dreamweaver Display View

I have just started using Dreamweaver CS4. In older versions
of Dreamweaver, I'm used to seeing text in Display view and being
able to edit the text directly in Display view, rather than having
to edit text in Code view. But when I'm trying to edit text in
Display view on a webpage that has text in a scrollable window,
Dreamweaver does not allow me to scroll down the scroll box, so I
can't edit text that is lower down in the scrollable area.
Anybody have an idea on how I can accomplish this?
Thanks very much.
Jason

That would be the way....

  • Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disapear

Editing text in Dreamweaver CS4 on Mac 10.6.2 causes paragraph ends to disappear.
When adding bold in design view (strong) to two words at the start of my paragraph the last line of the paragraph disappears. This is somewhat worrying as it means any editing I do in dreamweaver could do massive amounts of damage to the content.
We are pasting the original content into the code view so as to strip the formating Dreamweaver then decides to take the last line break in the source code paragraph and then delete it see example below:
<p>Lorem ipsum dolor sit amet, consectetur adipiscing elit. Aenean dignissim nisi id risus varius ut scelerisque massa consectetur. Vestibulum non tortor augue, sit amet dictum lacus. Cum sociis natoque penatibus et magnis dis parturient montes, nascetur ridiculus mus. Curabitur ultrices felis et dui tincidunt sit amet tristique est pulvinar. Nulla a lectus quis erat ornare ultricies. Sed ac elementum magna. Nulla aliquet accumsan nulla. In dictum accumsan tortor eget consequat. Suspendisse potenti.
So when applying Strong with the Bold button in the design view to the first words 'Lorem ipsum' the last part of the paragraph 'lobortis vehicula lacinia interdum odio' will be deleted. Bizare and very dangerous especially for Annual Report content.
Any experience of similar or solutions would be greatly received.
PS. I have restarted, repaired permissions, checked dreamweaver is up to date trashed plist's and removed duplicate fonts.

It could be a problem in the templates.
In all honesty, I just tried pasting text into the Design section of a page.
It doesn't even work on my Mac, and it took three tries to get it to actually paste in VIsta.
I had to go to the code and reformat it after it did paste, but it eventually went.
I don't work with templates much.
Well, that actually makes me feel a little better, if it makes sense to feel better to learn that it could be the expensive software and not just us. I guess I will view this as an opportunity to improve me coding speed :-) Thanks for the feedback.

  • Page Content Won't Display in Contribute (Edit Mode) or Dreamweaver (Design View)

I have pages on my site that have  decided they don't want to display content either in Contribute (in edit
mode) or in DreamWeaver (in design view). They always look fine in Live view, prior to hitting the 'edit' button or when viewing in a browser. Using CS4 on Windows XP. I use Contribute for small edits and this renders that tool useless as there is no WYSIWYG. It's a pain in Dreamweaver to have to keep previewing in browser when I'm used to working in code/design view. Any help most appreciated. Here's the page I'm currently having the problem with:

  • Can't edit text in CS3 design view

    Hi,
I have a big absolutely positioned DIV tag in most of my
pages, practically the whole page content is inside it.
In DW CS3 design view very often (maybe 50% of all times) if
I click inside it to edit the text, DW selects the entire DIV tag.
The cursor becomes like a cross with arrows, the DIV border becomes
outlined with a thick blue line, and I can't edit the text no
matter how much times I click. If I move the mouse with left button
pressed, this moves the DIV and changes the .css file where the
position is defined. DIV can't be de-selected with Escape, left or
    right clicking.
The only way to get out of this is to click somewhere in the
code view, then go back to design view where hopefully text can be
edited. Sometimes I have to repeat this twice or even 3 times ,
it's extremely annoying and time consuming.
    Is there any workaround?
Like to disable selection of containers in design view, or at
least a quick way to deselect the current selection?
This problem does not appear in DW8 when editing the same
    files.
    thanks

    Nasty. Why?
Do you have an overflow style on this div?

When you installed Pages v5, it automatically moved the older Pages ’09 v4.3 into /Applications/iWork '09 folder. If you want normal comment interoperability, you are advised to resume using the older version of Pages. Newer, is certainly not better with Pages v5.

  • How can I edit text labels in a numeric display?

I have this numeric display, type U16, that displays specific messages, for example 'PASS' when the input is 1. I need to add another message.
I added a placeholder, for input = 3 (verified by the digital display) for the new message by rightclicking/'Add After' but I'm not able to add the new message. I can't edit the text (can't select it) for the existing messages either so I know I'm on the wrong track.
The G programming reference for LV 5.1 (page 9-17) says to use the labeling tool so I tried the 'Edit Text' tool on the tools palette. Is there another labeling tool? Any help is appreciated.
    Thanks,

    Jeff,
It sounds to me as if your U16 ring control is, or is linked to, a typdef (Type Definition), which LabVIEW programmers can employ to impose sharp constraints on the way a control looks or behaves. This would explain why you can't edit the text items, or add one. The bit about adding an item for '3' is confusing, but maybe it has to do with the ring being set to allow undefined values.
I can't recall how to manage these things under LabVIEW 5.1, but in 7.x, I would right-click on the control and see if "Open Type Def" was one of my options; if so, this diagnosis is correct, and you can make your changes only be editing the actual type def. The changes would then automatically be applied to any other control or indicator that is linked to the same type def, which is a very powerful programming technique.
Your best move might be to read up on Type Definitions in your LabVIEW User Manual, or in Application Note 159, and then proceed.
    Hope this helps,
    John

  • TEXT EDIT EXPANDING DOESN'T DISPLAY THE INPUT CORRECTLY

    Hi everybody,
i have a dynamic form and a text-edit-field within, which i want to expand with the user input. if the input forces the field to go over to the next page, the text will be splitted, as i expected. So far so good! Removing and resetting the focus on the field (on the last page, where the last part of the input text is) causes the text to be displayed in a 'strange' way. The text jumps upwards and the last part of it can't be seen any longer. I have, for instance, to go with 'str+end' to correctly catch the ending and redisplay this returned part of the input again.
Does anybody have a clue of what can be done to force the text in the field to stay stady?
    Thanks a lot,
    Valerio

Sorry, i didn't mean to hurt your esthetic sense ;-)
This must be the normal behaviour of a Text-Edit-Field. I've noticed this many times.
Please gimme some hints...at least, whether it's possible to avoid this text jumping phenomenon or not.
    Thank you all,
    Valerio

  • How to add edited text from photoshop to dreamweaver

I edited text in photoshop to make it look nice and sparkly. I am trying to put it in a flash site but do not understand how. the context file only allows you to choose the color and type of font but nothing more such as drop shadows and such. when i go to edit the context code for the flash site what would the code for edited text in photoshop look like in dreamweaver context editor?

I am not sure I understand? There is no Photoshop code?
You would take the image you created in Photoshop and place it into your Dreamweaver document. Correct me if I don't understand what you are trying to do.

  • Even editing text in Design View is now difficult in DW CC?

    Hi All,
Even editing text in Design View is now difficult in DW CC? I just upgraded.
It seems difficult - or impossible - to select, copy and paste multiple blocks of text from one place to another - unless you work in the Code View.
Text blocks are separate entities, separately edited? I can't even copy and paste an image from one file into another.
Previously, I'd regularly select an image - or a load of text - and replace it with some copied from elsewhere by 'pasting'.
I must be missing something. Perhaps there's another mode of working.
    Thanks,
    John

    You're probably in Live View.
CC2014.1 does some strange things when it comes to Live and Design Views.
    1. Design View is gone for Fluid Grid Layouts, so all editing has to be done in Code or Live View. There is a work around to get Design View back for those in Post #6 here: Editing Text and Adding Links Is Crazy in DW CC-2014.1
You can also add your voice to get it back here: Provide "Design View" for Fluid Grid Webpages
    2. Design and Live Views are now a dropdown menu. Check the top left of your workspace, you should see Code | Split | Live with a small triangle next to Live. Click it to access Design View in everything but FGL pages

  • Is it possible in windows itunes to capture (copy) a playlist display as editable text?

is it possible in windows itunes to capture (copy) a playlist display as editable text?

    Thanks for the reply, ed2345.
I had found similar suggestions in the archived support files, but thought perhaps something had been added in the recent versions that would more directly address such an obvious need. I had used iTunes on the Apple Mac OSX platform, which provides a direct copy/paste to text file procedure (for the entire playlist display). It was a bit of a surprise to find that the Windows version did not.
I have tried both of the suggested methods, and found the Excel routine to be the best for my needs. I have not found a way to control the massive amounts of information supplied by the Export method.
Thanks again for the reply. It served to confirm my fears that there was no direct copy/paste routine.

  • Text in Dreamweaver?

I'm taking over a simple website from someone who was using
    DreamWeaver.
I see that any large blocks of text on the website are
images. I was told that this is because there was a "kerning"(?)
problem when they went to type text directly into a layer. I tried
typing in a block of text in Word then copying that text and
pasting it into the layer however my sister said when she viewed
the page, there were spaces here and there that shouldn't be there
(which I didn't see on my end) and the text looked "sterile".
I would like to know what the appropriate way of displaying
large blocks of text in DreamWeaver is? I don't have a DreamWeaver
manual. Are there any suggestions for a good one?
In the past, I've only used HTML and, most of the time, I
used tables to display text. Could going this route avoid any
issues with text looking different from one computer to another?
I will have to look for the "table" function in DreamWeaver
if this is the correct way to proceed.
    Thanks very much.

    Yeah. But it's not microspacing....

  • Editing text on a Mac (Acrobat 9) causes text to show on Windows as ellipses

I'm a relative newbie to editing in Acrobat and forms but I'm usually a quick learner..
What I'm seeing is when I take an existing form with largely Helvetica Neue and edit the form on a Mac (my principle machine),
when I try to view the form on a Windows machine in Adobe reader, ellipses (look more like bullets) appear where my edited text is.
Funny thing is it is only the text I've edited within a single text box.
For example,  if I started with
The fox jumps over the hen
And I edit it to say
The fox jumps under my bed
What I see on Windows Acrobat reader is
    The fox jumps * ** ** ***  ***
(using *'s in this form as the bullets I'm seeing aren't easily available)
Anyone have any suggestions or ideas?
    ==Forrest

    There are several fonts listed...
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded)
    HelveticaNeue
    HelveticaNeue (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue,Bold
    HelveticaNeue-Bold (Embedded Subset)
    HelveticaNeue-Bold (Embedded Subset)
    TimesNewRoman,Bold
What's weird is I literally edited a small amount of text within text boxes (I did not add any new text
boxes because I don't have the original source document).  The font properties for these text boxes
is set at the text box level and only the text I edited is unviewable on the windows machine.  The
text I did not disturb displays correctly.

Here is my problem. I insert an editable region, and that works just fine. However, when trying to create a page from this template, I can't edit the CSS. Hi
Not sure if this is a Fireworks or Dreamweaver problem but
    here goes.
I¹ve created a graphic in Fireworks CS3 on the Mac and
    Exported the HTML and
related images. I open the HTML file in Dreamweaver CS3, all
    fine so far.
Then I highlight the table and click the ŒEdit in
    Fireworks¹ button and it
throws up a warning dialogue saying ŒCannot launch and
    edit. The Fireworks
table could not be found in the HTML. Please export from
    Fireworks and
    re-import the HTML into Dreamweaver.¹
    What?!!
I¹ve only just exported it from Fireworks! It¹s
    even got the Fireworks table
code in the Code section, so what¹s going here?
    Has anyone else had this?

When you export the sliced graphics from Fireworks it places
    them into a
table. In my instance the code says...
    <!-- fwtable fwsrc="Brands.png" fwpage="Page 1"
    fwbase="Brands.jpg"
    fwstyle="Dreamweaver" fwdocid = "325827661" fwnested="0"
    -->
So it recognises Fireworks was the the graphics app and jumps
    back to it
when you want to edit the image. Fireworks then displays (or
    should) a
ŒDone¹ button over the window. You do your alts and
    press Done to update the
HTML and graphics back in Dreamweaver automatically.
That¹s the only table I was referring to Murray.

  • Problem editing text color and page properties due to favicon link

I recently added a link to a sites favicon using the link tag. Following advice on the net this was added beneath the HTML tag and before the HEAD tag. I was using a Dreamweaver template for the site and it updated all pages with the new link in the non-editable area above HEAD and just after the template declaration.
This was fine, unitl the user went to edit the site. He found that he could no longer get to page properties as he got an error that no page properties existed in editable areas... although there was an editable region for the page title. Also text color and highlighting were now disabled.
Moving the link tag into the head area has resolved the editing issue, but it seems a strange bug. Is there some way to add something between HTML and HEAD and have it appear before the InstanceBegin of the template?

You can edit text in any PDF by using trial version but as for as my knowledge and limited experience with Adobe I could not find any text color option in Adobe Acrobat. But you can highlight text in Adobe Acrobat. If you want to change the text color in PDF, I would like to recommend some another software which allows you to change the color of text and is available for download here.
Let me tell you how can change text color using this software. Open PDF file > go to "edit tab" > Click "edit" then highlight text to change the color. As you can see in the below screenshot.
Free free to ask. Hope it helps you. Don't forget to come back to share your views.
    Thanks
