Editing the document message bar

I want to change the text in the document message bar to something more helpful. Is there a way to do that?

You may be referring to the information that appears in the document meta data. Try looking at the document properties and see if that addresses your question. I was not quite sure what you were looking for either.

  • Acrobat 9 Standard - Document Message Bar not shown in shared review

A pdf file is "send for shared review" by Acrobat 8 or 9 on a network folder.
The file is shared review enabled and is storred at the network folder correctly.
If the file is opened by Acrobat 9 Standard the yellow

  • Hide document message bar?

    Hi,
Is there a way to hide the Document message bar from inside a pdf?
If not, is there a url open parameter apropriated for that? I know toolbar=0 works fine, even when the pdf is opened embedded on IE.
    Thank you

Well, if I type in the URL and append #message=0 it works for me. But because with Forms you typically stream the PDF byte stream to the client instead of using URL's to actual PDF files that doesn't help much.
I tried to find a JavaScript way of doing it and asked around, but it doesn't appear that there is a way. I believe there has been an enhancement request made for that. So maybe in the future.
There is a menu option under Edit->Preferences->Forms to always hide it. If you open a PDF that makes it show, then check that, then opening PDF's after that will not show the message bar.

  • Document Message Bar disappeared

A coworker trying to use Shared Review for the first time has a problem. The Document Message Bar (the yellow/light tan bar with the Publish Comments and Check for New Comments buttons) is NOT showing up in her version of Acrobat 8. I got it to show up briefly, but then it disappeared when we closed Acro and reopened it.
I cannot find anywhere in the menus or help on how to get this bar to stay open permanently.
I have no trouble on my computer on the shame shared file.

Does this happen with one particular document or with all your reviews?

  • Acrobat Professional 7 Document Message Bar does not display

I am running Acrobat Professional 7.0.9 on a Windows 2000 PC (HP Compaq dc7100, P4, 1GB RAM). After upgrading Adobe Reader to version 8.1.2, I can no longer create forms that trigger the Document Message Bar to display in either Acrobat or Reader. (No, the Always Hide option is not selected in my preferences in either program.) Forms I created before the upgrade still display normally. How can I fix this issue?

I had troubles with Acrobat Pro 6.0 after I installed Reader 8.1.2.
I removed the newer reader and all worked fine again. Seems I'm not missing much using the 6.0 version.

  • Document message bar not visible when participating in Shared Review

    Hi,
I have initiated a Shared Review using Acrobat Pro 8
Immediately after I finished sending out the notification to other reviewers, the _Review.pdf version of the document is opened for me and the Document Message bar is visible. Therefore I have the option to check for new comments, publish comments.
My colleagues however, when they open the pdf file attachment from their email notification they get the message: "This document has been sent by a user of Acrobat 8.0 Professional for your review. To participate in this review Acrobat 8.0 standard or professional, or later, is required" Pressing OK on that message box opens up the PDF file to be reviewed however the Document Message bar is not visible (there is no Document Message bar icon on the left pane either.). Therefore my colleagues cannot publish their comments.
I also encountered the same issue. After I close my PDF and re-open it, I cannot see the Document Message bar, eventhough I can still see my Review Tracker and the document still listed there.
So, what did I do wrong? I started the shared review by following the prompts:
    1. Comments > Send for Shared Review
    2. Enable reviewers with Reader to participate
    3. Select a network drive to store the shared comments
    4. Select the document to be reviewed
    5. I've experiment with all the different send notifications options
    6. I specified the email address of the reviewers and sent the invite
Thanks a lot for the help..

Does this happen with one particular document or with all your reviews?

  • Registry key to Hide Document Message Bar not working in Acrobat 9

In Acrobat 7, am hiding the Document Message bar on top of every PDF document by setting the registry key

  • Modify Document Message Bar

Once a form is created in LiveCycle and opened in Acrobat Professional, a bar (specifically, the document message bar) appears at the top indicating "please fill out the following form".
Is there a way to modify the text that appears to something other than "please fill out the following form"?
Thanks in advance for any help or input.

  • Configure "Always hide forms document message bar" and "Do not show edit warnings" for all users?

We need to do a mass deployment of Adobe Reader XI 11.0.3 with "Always hide forms document message bar" preference setting automatically set for every user so they do not have to go through the menu and set it manually.
Is there a way to configure this for all users with the customization wizard or another method?
We also need to do the same for "Do not show edit warnings"
If these are registry keys, which registry keys set these options?

    Try http://www.adobe.com/devnet-docs/acrobatetk/tools/PrefRef/Windows/DocumentStatus.html?zoom _highlight=message#idkeyname_1_5647.
If that doesn't work and there's a configuration item in the preferences UI, do this:
    Get regshot.
    Close everything but Acrobat/Reader.
    Take a reg shot.
Configure the setting via the UI.
    Tak another reg shot.
    Compare the two.
That process will give you your answer.
If there is no corresponding pref in the UI, then you probably can't do it.

  • Disable document message bar

I have a document that contains a number of buttons and check boxes that are used to execute various functions. When i save the pdf and open it in Acrobat Reader, a purple message bar appears that asks the user to: "Please fill out the following form... etc"
I can go to the Edit/Preferences/Forms window and select "Always hide form document message bar", but i don't want the end user to see this window in the first place.
Is it possible to use a javascrpit that forces this message bar to be hidden? Is there any other way to have this window hidden by default?
    Thanks in advance,
    George G.

    Any solution?

  • How to show asterisk * effect once the user starts editing the document??

I wrote a java text editor. I creat a new internal frame and allows to open a document.
How to have an effect (an asterisk * follows the filename in title bar) once
the user starts editing the document? And once I save that file, that asterisk * will
disappear. It seems to me we need to add a listener, but not sure how to change
the title bar of internal frame??

    just use DocumentListener like
    myTextArea.getDocument().addDocumentListener(new DocumentListenet(){
    public void changedUpdate(DocumentEvent e){
    frame.setTitle( frame.getTitle() + "*" );
    implements two other methods too

    Hi,
According to your description, my understanding is that the error occurred when editing the top link bar in SharePoint 2013.
As the error message is very common, I recommend to check the ULS log for detailed error message for further research.
For SharePoint 2013, by default, ULS log is at C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\Web Server Extensions\15\LOGS.
