Editing the "Far Far away" title in iMovie

I was wondering is there any way to slow down the word in the "Far Far Away" title with out changing the time of the whole title?

the 'speed' is determined by 'amount-of-text x length':
lots of words x 3 secs length = speeeedy
few words x 44 secs length = sloooooow

I can not add Titles in IMovies.  When I click on the Titles, IMovie shuts down.  I am using Mac OSX Version 10.6.8 and IMovies version 8.0.6
Was able to add some Titles yesterday, but had some problems with shut downs.  Today I can not get past clicking on Titles without a shutdown

    DK Flash,
http://support.apple.com/kb/TS3310 but you have 10.6.8. So this shouldn't apply. But just in case.
This had to do with the Far Far Away title causing iMovie to quit.
    Try clearing caches and plist.
Do the behavior persist in a new user on the computer?

  • HELP!!!! Sony DVD camcorder, i need to edit the video on iMovie

hi, im using my friends Sony DVD camcorder for a project and i need to somehow edit the video on my mac using iMovie, but the video files arent opening with quicktime or iMovie. the tag on the icon is .VOB
can anyone help me figure this out??

VOB files are "muxed" MPEG and as such are not compatible with QT. Even if you have the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($20) installed, QT is not "natively" compatible with AC3 audio. Basically you have to options:
    1) Get iMovie '08 to do a "Camera Import" which will convert the AC3 audio to Linear PCM and stor it in an MOV file container and then modify the MPWG-2 content effectively turning it into a Motion-JPEG and merge the modified video to the same MOV file container with start and/or end offsets to minimize drifet between the two.
    2) The other option is t copy the non-zero VOB title sets to your hard drive and then use an MPEG-based, third party converter like iSquint (free), MPEG Streamclip (free) with the QT MPEG-2 Playback component ($20), FFmpegX (donation-ware), Visual Hub (pay-ware), etc. to converte the VOB files to an "edit" compatible iMovie '08 (or eariier version) compression format.

  • IMovie HD 6 Editing with "far, far away" title

Is there any way to slow down the speed of the copy moving up the screen when using the "far, far away" title? The slowest I can get it to go is a 1 minute duration and that is too fast for my purposes.

I also like the mock Star Wars rolling credits, but find the version in iMovie 6 inadequate.
I therefore use an application called (surprise!) 'Rolling Credits' from:
    http://www.rqs.ca/
which works a treat, but now costs $19.95!

  • IMovie 13 how do I change the speed of the Far Far Away title scrolling?

How do I change the scrolling speed of the Far Far Away wording?
    Thanks in advance!!

Thanks. I did try this and it slowed the scroll down. There is still a residual problem which is there is a certain amount of blank screen at the end. I thought slowing the scroll would fill this dead spot. By lengthening the duration of the title, the scroll is now slower, but the black screen has also lengthened. The current dead time is now the final 6 seconds of a 25 second title. Any help on cutting out the dead scrren time. If this were a straight video clip I would simply trim it away. Any way to get the scrolling text to fill more than 80% of the title duration?

  • The "Far Far Away" title is displaying a white box rather than the entered text.  Is there any way to restore the title code so that it works properly?

The "Far Far Away" title (which I have used quite frequently) has stoped working and just displays a white box where the text should be displayed.
Has anyone else experienced this problem or have a suggestion as to a resolution.  This is in IMovie '11 Version 9.0.8.

    Thanks for the reply Russ.
Yes, I've considered adding titles and/or generators in the FCPX storyline, but this creates a need to render the entire timeline. As I'm juggling library locations and hard drive spaces I just didn't want to add a new render that will occupy a lot of space. It's also a bit of visual clultter for me, so my goal is to find the best workflow for adding this stuff on or after export.

  • Titles Far Far Away Text Color

I cannot flush the yellow text color from the Title selection Far Far Away. Can anyone tell me how to do this? All other Titles in iLife 06 work fine.

I have not had the problem you describe. I take it that you have tried changing the font color by using the font color box in the Far Far Away title pane, but without success.
For the heck of it, try closing iMovie and trashing the FontCollections file (NOT the Font Book)located in User/Library. Then launch iMovie and see if the title works.
If that doesn't work, check to see if you have any duplicate fonts, and delete (resolve) them. To do this, open the Font Book file on your Mac hard drive, and see if there are any fonts that have a black dot next to them. Those are duplicate fonts. Get rid of them by selecting each font and going to the Edit menu and clicking on Resolve Duplicates. Now see if the title works.
If that doesn't work, close iMovie and trash the file com.apple.imovie.plist located in User/Library/Preferences. Then do a permissions repair using the Utilities/Disk Utility application on your Mac.
    Now see if it works.
If that doesn't work, check to see if you have any QT plug-ins or other 3rd party plug-ins that might be interfering, and remove those to a different folder.
If that doesn't work, the only other suggestion I have is to try opening your iMovie project in a new or different user account, and see if that makes any difference.
Good luck with this. Post back with your results, good or bad, as they might help someone else with your problem.

I am trying to make a nice far far away star wars type title which should look neat and aligned I am trying to create a fairly long title in imovie HD 6 and use the "far far away" title.
I can't get the edges to line up , It looks fine in the window whrere you type but after rendering it looks awful, all out of alignment. I have tried different font sizes, all with the same result! I am using a common font Ariel.
Anyone know how to fix this ?Please help much appreciated!!
    Cheers!

    Hi
    Don't know BUT
are You aware of that space can be used in two ways ?
    • Normal - in end of line it accepts a cut BUT
    • [alt+Space] makes most program handle it as a letter eg 20° C will not be cut but
moves over to next line as a whole.
I use alt+Space to force the text to align and so on.

  • Title "Far Far away" scrolls too fast regardless of its duration settings

In iMovie 10, when I place the far far away title on top of an image that is displayed let's say 18 seconds. Than my text scrolls in the first 6 seconds, even though I configured the far far away title lenght to 18s. How do I solve the speed of scrolling?
    Thanks in advance
    Best Regards,

  • FAR and AWAY going into  bogie nights title - and speed

I am making an intro to a video I am making for my wife's 40th birthday. In video I am starting with scrolling titles either far and away or the other one at scrolls.
I want to have running copy on the screen that moves slow enough for people to read it then the last word will be. This is the story about....
As soon as the ... is in the middle of the screen I want it to switch to the Boogie night title with my wife's name.
What is happening is that the... fade off the screen and there is a big pause between the... and the boogie nights with my wife's name. How do I make this work smoothly and quick?

The last item being this? ~> This is a story about.... (after the sroll title?)
Without going into iMovie and trying to replicate your issue, what about just working w/ the Scroll Title ONLY in a project. Get it the way you want it. Export it. Re import it into new Project and then add the Boogie Night Title and trim it to your liking. Would that work? What do you mean by POP? Just a static title?

  • Far Far Away Movie Title

I built an imovie with the Far Far Away title page with star background, but the wording that scrolls through the 20 second title is way too fast...hard to read that quickly. Anyone know how to put the brakes on so others can read the narrative that scrolls?

Welcome Remax Godfather to the  iMovie boards ..
if you want the title slower, just +grab 'n drag+ the blue title-'bar' in your Project window to any wanted length.
if you want 'brakes' in your text, add 'returns' in your copy ...

  • Problem with far away titles

I have set up the far away titles with a photo background, the only problem is that the colour I set for the text are all washed out. If I set the text to black, then it does not appear at all.
I just want the text to appear clear and readable in front of the photo.
    Any suggestions??

What color are you using and what color is the background photo?

  • Imovie 9 "far far away "video artifacts on render

Trying to a 30 second clip in iMovie 9.0.9 using the Stars background and "far far away" text fx. I can add the text no problem but when it renders, I am getting a whole bunch of video artifacts. After I render, the same artifacts show up in iMovie in the preview pane. They never actually show uo until I render. Any thoughts? This is on a macbook air (original) but I have tried it on different systems with the same result. The text is short phases (for grade 1) all center justified. Looks like a bug in the far far away script.

You need to change your project to 16:9 in File/Project Properties.

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW TO IMPROVE THE TITLES IN IMOVIE HD 6?

FOR SOME REASON, the titles options seem to be lcking in controls....foristance I like the drift effect...but there seems to be no way to adjust the timing of them visually...they drify for a second and then go away...or, scrolling across right to eft or left to right is left off the plain scrolling....Although you can make the titles scroll through the boby scrolling, and make the "waters" calm....but I want the titles to scroll, or drift, at different rates..(I know I can do them over eac other...arghhh....pretty simple stuff...but odd not improved in the imovie app. also, the video card I have works great for final cut pro HD....but the video effects all coe out white on about 1/2 of my imovie....I knopw I know...why am I not just using final cut pro....it's too hard, so far....
is their some sort of extra, or third party thing that I can buy that works for imovie to add more options?

/your shift keys stick… you should fix that /
… most titles in iM have sliders to set speed, pauses, whatever.... some titles show a hair-cross, when you click in the tiny preview window, which allows to set the position of some titles…

  • How do I move clips in one pane of iMove (10.0.3) into the timeline?  iMovie somehow doesn't realize I'm trying to edit the clips.

How do I move clips in one pane of iMove (10.0.3) into the timeline?  iMovie somehow doesn't realize I'm trying to edit the clips.

    Try this:
Select a small portion of the clip in the event (Above the timeline)
Click and hold and drag that section into the timeline, it should snap into place but if you drag it above another clip, it will not replace it but will be placed on top and the sound from the other clip will still play. Also this will allow you to use Blue/Green screen modes as well as picture in picture.
The best way is to drag it to the far right
