Editing the idvd map

Pls can someone tell me how to edit my map view? I have a project with 9 different slideshows and short movies, and want to create another layer as I have too many items on the opening screen - I can't work out how to do it. Are you meant to be able to drag and drop items in the map view? I can't find anything in the Help or Support info.

I don't know how to do it in map view (and don;t
think you can), but you can go to your opening menu
in normal view. Add a new folder. (yes I know this
is adding even more things.....) Then select one of
the slideshow buttons, make sure it just has the
narrow box around it, and copy (command-c). Then go
to the new folder, and paste. You shoudl get a new
link to the slideshow. Then go back to the orignal
main menu and select the same sldieshow and "delete".
This will move that slideshow to the nested folder
(menu).
Try it a few times on a test project first. It is
hard at times to get the hand of selecting buttons
without selecting the text or moving to the next
screen.

and it's edited on quality
if you edit on qulity by changing the SWCV to editable then remember to
do the change in DEV later and export import and solve the version conflict on quality
as if you forget to do this someone will have to solve in the future and will not know why....

Problems when editing the ESS roadmap

Hi All
I have edited the Road map using Self-Service Administrator for Personal data in ESS. I have removed the last 2 steps and changed the name of the second step to Detailed View.
The problem is that I am getting a nullPointerException when I select Edit in the ESS for personal data.
Can anyone please guide me in the right direction, am I missing a step or 2 in editing the roadmap?

Editing from iDVD

I developed a project in iMovie and transfered it to IDVD. It developed the IDVD project but did not burn. The internal hard drive was too full. I transfered the iDVD project to the external drive but in trying to release space on the internal drive the iMovie project was lost. I still have the clips and photos in the iMovie library but the iMovie project is lost. The iDVD project is still on the external drive but I would like to remove some of the video to shorten the movie. Is there any way to extract the video from the iDVD project, or edit the iDVD project?
Also if I move the Imovie & iDVD to the large external drive can I make use to the increased storage to burn the DVD?

Solved my own problem, it makes me feel good when I can say that. I found that I had saved the project as a mp4 movie I imported it back to IMovie as a event and could edit it . Set up a external as a boot disk with lots of storage and made the dvd with iDVD from there.

I am editing an idvd slideshow to have some of the music selections from itunes fade out at the end of each vacation segment using music reflecting the country visited. Is there a way to fast-forward the slideshow to observe the where the music ends.

Thanks very much, varjak paw. I checked half a dozen tracks on my iMac from different albums which did not copy over, plus several which did copy over. They all show the same location:
Users/Christina/Music/iTunes/iTunes Media/Music/Brandenburg Concertos etc. (one example)
What does this mean relative to the music which didn't copy? Is there another step? or somewhere else I should look?
And wow, thanks for the info about not having legal right to keep the tracks from the CDs. I am embarrassed that I didn't know. I gave most of my CDs to my sister. Before I delete all this highly prized music (400-500 tracks) -- if I get the CDs back from her and keep them at my house, can I continue to keep those tracks on my iMac? (Sister does not have iTunes or even know what an mp3 is, so it's not like she has copied or imported the CDs -- I just didn't realize I needed to retain possession.)
Or do I still need to remove all that music from my library?

How do you edit the audio files in the slideshow of my idvd project?

I have created a project in idvd and I dragged and dropped in the music files from the audio tab that I wanted - I selected multiple songs (2) and I hear them play just fine. The problem is that I want one song to play for a certain section of the photos and then I want the other song to start at a particular point. Why am I not able to edit the music in the slideshow and how can I do that?

iMovie is a good way to do this if your project is film based. If your using photos (slideshow) in iDVD, I would be inclinded to use GarageBand to edit the audio portion of your project (It may be just me, but whenever I've attempted to create a slideshow in iMovie, the photos look "grainy" to me, not as clear).
If you know the time of when you want your songs to change, you can adjust the length (time) of each song in GarageBand as well as fade in/fade out transition of the two or more songs. After saving, you then can access the saved audio mix via the audio tab in iDVD. (I'm making an assumption that one might be familiar enough with GarageBand to do this

Sir Churchill, I tried deleting one of the playlists from my computer (Playlist 130). The next day I checked my wife's computer and noticed that Playlist 130 was now missing from her computer as well. There are several layers to this Q
A. There are no HD in DVD - DVD is as standard only SD-Video what ever tools used to produce it !
iDVD or DVD-Studio Pro or Roxio Toast™ - will only make SD-Video on DVD
B. DVD can be better or worse
• Using "Share to iDVD" is no good way - Better is Share to Media Browser and as Large (NOT HD as result will be worse)
• Using iMovie'08 or 09 or 11 - are not tools to chose if highes quality is of importance - iMovie up to HD6 or FinalCut any version is far better as they send over all lines to iDVD and not only every second one.
• Using Right encoder quality depending on movie and Manu duration is very important
• Use of high quality brand of DVD - is important - I use Verbatim DVD-R
• Type of DVD - DVD-R plays on more DVD-Players (even old ones)
• Burn speed - I set it down to x4 - resulting in less burn errors - plays on more players
• I secure a minimum of 25Gb free space on Start-Up Mac OS hard disk as iDVD and Mac OS needs this and it can not be taked from other hard disks - has to be here.
• What You feed iDVD does matter

Editting the obj.conf of netscape enterprise server 3.6 to map two".so"

I have netscape enterprise server 3.6 (I know.. but cant go another option now)
I already have a application running on this server which is accessed by "www.abc.com/Application" (dummy url).
In the obj.conf file.. it is as below.

This works fine....Now I have a BB.so which I want to be accessed by "www.abc.com/Application1" (dummy url).
When i edit the config file as below. It doesnt seem to work. Can someone please help.

First - You really, REALLY should be upgrading to Web Server 6.1 or Web Server 7.0 (or Open Web Server). Really.
Second - You can have multiple SAFs, but you need to make sure that you code them to avoid conflicts with function names, data structures, etc. Good luck.

The latest anorexic iMacs just announced do not even include a CD drive! Proof positive that Apple virtually prohibit the use of DVDs - although the newly announced Mac Minis do include a Superdrive.
Yet, they still include iMovie! Heaven alone knows or understands what you are supposed to do with your newly edited masterpiece - except make a low quality version for YouTube?

Can open Topics by drag & drop, but not by double-clicking in the DITA map

evidently I made an error somewhere in my structure app, the result is that I cannot open DITA topics by double clicking them in the DITA map anymore (Framemaker does simpy nothing). I can, however, open them by dragging the xml files onto the Framemaker window. If I use the standard DITA 1.2 application everything works fine so I guess the problem is in my mapping.
Here is what I tried to achieve:
We need certain variations of the normal 'topic' type topic. The DTD should be identical, however different structures should be auto-inserted when creating a topic and the topic should have certain attribute values predefined.
The idea is that the author can select one of these topic types when creating a topic, but when opening an existing topic simply edit it with the standard topic temple.
Here is what I did:
I duplicated the topic.template.fm, renaming it say "topic_a.template.fm", "topic_b.template.fm" etc. (just an example).
I made adjustments to the EDD of these templates, changing the auto-insertions and the default values of some attributes.
In the structapps.fm file I added XML applications for these new topic types, mapping each application to one of the new templates, but to the original topic DTD and r/w rules. E.g. the application "DITA_1.2_topic_a" is mapped to the "topic_a.template.fm" template, and to the original "topic.dtd" and "topic.rules.txt" files.
In Framemaker I then created corresponding application mappings in the DITA options. E.g. the topic type "A" (which defines the visible text in the "New topic" menu) is maped to the XML application "DITA_1.2_topic_a".
The result:
It works as intended in every way when creating topics. The topics are saved with the standard doctype 'topic'. However for when I try to open topics from the DTD by double-clicking then nothing happens. Opening topics by drag & drop works fine though and they are opened with the normal (general) "topic.template.fm" template as desired.
Any ideas? Was this confusing or am I completely off somewhere?

Hi Robert...
When you say that you need "variations" from the normal topic type .. are those structural variations or just formatting? FM associates structure apps with XML files based on the doctype (root element). If your files all have the same root element, then they will all open with the same structure application (unless you specify a different one when opening the file or by importing a new EDD). It sounds like you really should be creating a specialization for each alternate topic type. If you don't, you'll end up getting the wrong "model" assigned to the wrong file.
Multiple EDDs (structure apps) can share the same DTD, and one EDD (structure app) can support multiple models. This is how the "ditabase" app works. There are lots of ways to set this up, but I think what you've done is probably not quite right.
The default structure app setup in FM11 and FM12 is very complicated to work with. I recommend creating a single app that supports many models. This isn't always possible, but it sounds like in your case it should be. I've set up one app that supports 13 different specialized topic models and it works fine.
Note that even though you've added structure apps for each model, if you end up opening the files using the default template, you are no longer using those modified models.

RH9: Multiple Topics with the Same Map ID

I'm trying to use the same Map ID with more than one topic, which seems logical to me as a process that contains multiple screens could open an overview of the process, but I get an error that "The map number is already in this project".
I've tried manually editing the BSSCDefault.h file, but when I go back to RH the second topic is still showing the unique Map ID that I deleting.
How can I bypass this? Thanks.
One more thing: I just noticed that in the Edit Map IDs dialog box the Map ID and Topic Name columns use the same topic name (which also appears in the H file). This topic name also appears in the Page Title field of the TOC Properties dialog box, but the Link to field can have a different HTML filename. Is this ok?

"The form cannot be displayed in the browser because the use of session cookies has been disabled in the current browser settings.In order to load the form the session cookies must be allowed."

Based on your description, I need to verify the things below:
Which browser did you use? Did this issue occur with all the browsers?
Is the cookie disabled in the browser? If yes, please enable it.
Did you implement security fix in the web.config, such as <httpCookies requireSSL="true" httpOnlyCookies="true" />? If yes, please set it to false in web.config.
Did you configure Alternate Access Mapping for SharePoint with a URL containing a “_” character? If yes, please remove the “_” from the URL.

Navigate to User Administration---->User Mapping
Under Search, Search for your user id in users.
You will get ID, Name with Edit Link and by the side "System" Drop Down Box which contains the name of the system Aliases that u created.
Click on Edit Link, It will ask for user and password. Give the user and password for R/3 System and clicked save. After this you will get an info like, Logon Data Saved.

I am a new bee to dac.
Need help in modifying mapping parameters of out the box mapping, which is invoked by DAC task.
We got a requirement to edit mapping parameter. When I go and see parameter under mappings tab in a mapping, I could not see any values in it.
But when I set any value, and validate it. It is successful.
Is it right way to do it?
What my concern is, When I initially go and see parameter values under maapings tab in a mapping, they are blank.
Where is it storing these values?

If you modify mapping then u have to create new task in dac and dac itself craete parameter file at run time. if you want to add more parameters then do it in dac system parameters tab.
