Editing time base

I shoot with a Panasonic HVX200 at 720P24. I want to shoot 24p for the natural non-video look.
The compressor settings do not have an option for DVCPROHD 24 so when I accept the pop-up window suggestion that I "change the sequence settings to match my clip settings" the editing timebase sets at 59.94.
I thought I was shooting 24 progressive frames and that FCP Studio allows for this? Am I going to lose the effect of 24p that I am looking for?
When I shoot with my Canon Vixia HV 30, the editing time base is 29.97.
Can I mix clips from both cameras in the same timeline? They look fine on playback with the settings set at 59.97. ( I just read that you cannot nest clips from with different sequence settings).

Yup. The only way to get 720p at 23.98 is with a P2 card and shooting at 720p 24PN. You can shoot 1080i 24pA with the card as well, and FCP will remove the advanced pulldown. I don't think the Firestore records the Advanced pulldown...worth a test.

Yup. You are not able to get smooth slow motion if you shoot 60fps for use in a 60fps sequence. Just like 30fps slowed down in a 30fps sequence isn't smooth.

WRONG! You reap a LOT of benefit of this camera. Shooting 4:2:2 color space, instead of 4:2:0 that AVCHD, HDV, XDCAM shoot in. Shooting with 3 CCDS, and not a single sensor that can give you rolling shutter (CMOS sensor). Nice codec for easy editing in FCP (DVCPRO HD). You can also shoot directly to QT on the firestore, eliminating the need to log and transfer.
But yes, the P2 card, that the camera was designed for, has more options. You bought a great camera, but a third party add-on device that doesn't do everything that a P2 card does. BUT, I think the drive can record 1080i 24pA...and you can remove pulldown to get to 23.98. And then shoot 720p60 for smooth slow motion...upscale the footage 50% from 720p to 1080. It doesn't do a bad job of that.

Different editing time bases

Hello All,
I've come across a new error message, and I don't know what I did. I was nesting sequences together and the error message said, "Operation not allowed, different time bases." I must have done something wrong when setting up my project. The only thing I see different on this particular sequence is the Vid rate, 23.98. The other sequences are at 29.97 fps. Does anyone have an idea of how to work around so I can put into one master sequence? It is for a sports banquet for tomorrow night. Nothing like the last minute.

Do you know how I may have changed the time bases?
No. It is something you did in the camera settings. I don't know what format you shot (HDV, AVCHD, DVCPRO HD), nor what camera you used. Nor do I know the settings of all the cameras out there. This is something you have to figure out, and pay attention to.

Dear Gurus,
I am looking for the T-code which will show me the customizing work done by a team member on time basis, say for example daily. How can I do this? Presently we are in realization phase of SAP implementation, so doing the customizing work.

LabVIEW: how to route time base to counter source using 6602.

How do I route the 80Mhz internal time base on a 6602 card, to the source of any counter using LabVIEW? I can only see the option for an external time base, and drop down from source only allows me to select source pins or RTSI lines? I haven't ever really used DAQ Assistant, but I *think* that the drop-down menu you mentioned is for selecting the Sampling clock, which is different than the counter Source. There doesn't appear to be a way to select a source signal in the DAQ Assistant -- it seems to expect you to wire a signal to the counter's default Source pin.
You'll need to use a DAQmx Channel property node to select the 80 MHz timebase as a source. Attached is a screenshot of a very simple example that will count up as high as a 32-bit int can go, rollover to 0 and continue counting up, etc. It'll take a little less than a minute to rollover if all is working correctly.

Cannot see or edit time of events in iCal

I cannot see or edit times in iCal any longer, only dates. This affects only one user, so I guess that there is a corrupted user-specific resource file somewhere that I could try renaming/deleting. Does anyone have any ideas?
I believe that this condition was triggered by creating an iCal event from Mail.

Eventually found in System Preferences -> International -> Formats that my region was set to "Custom". I have no idea how this happened - I certainly never set this directly through system preferences.
I selected "United Kingdom" as my region, and the times showed up in iCal once again.

Creating a step type "launcher" that would insert the appropriate built-in or custom step type at edit time

Hi everybody,
I'm looking for tips, pointers,directions... to be able to perform this operation in TS 4.0 sequence Editor, if it's even possible...
I'm managing a test system with a "home-made" virtual instruments abstraction Layer complementary to IVI classes for instruments which do not have classes defined, customizing the sequence editor accordingly for developpers of my department.
So basically when the instrument is IVI, the developper uses the built-in IVI step-type type and when it is not, he uses the the custom step types that I developped for this particular class of instruments.
However there are classes where I do have both IVI and specific drivers available and I do need to use both in the test sequence.
For example let's say there are two sources of DC power available in the testbench, one being a programmable IVI compliant DC power supply, and the other one composed of fixed "blocks" of DC power supply managed by externals relays and you need to use them both in the test sequence.
What I would like to be able to do in the sequence editor is inserting the appropriate step type at edit time just by selecting the source of power supply (by a ring or enum for eg), and if the first ressource is selected, it inserts IVI step type, and if the second ressource is chosen, it inserts the appropriate custom step type.
Any Ideas on how to accomplish this ?

Here is an idea that could be done:
You could create a dynamic step by having a step that holds all the properties for both configurations (the superset of the necessary variables) and an extra one that indicates which 'mode' the step is in. Then you create the main Edit substep in whichever language you desire. That substep window will then have a box/dropdown/etc. at the top you can use to choose between modes A & B. When the user changes the value, you would dynamically change the rest of the window to contain the appropriate properties for mode A or B. You then copy the property values in that window to the Step properties, and copy the mode to your variable and you can run the step in that mode. When the step then runs, it checks the mode variable, and depending on its value, it will run the step in mode A or B.
Now we could add a dialog that allows us to choose when we put a step down but we should still allow the user to change later via the Edit substep we create.
I don't think we can create something that inserts a completely different step, but we can have one step that has the ability to do both and we can pick which one we execute. Also note we still don't have the ability to edit the Panels for a step, so we have to use a new window that we call from our Edit substep to complete the step.

Using external time base on PCI-MIO-16XE-50

What is frequency of the internal time base of PCI-MIO-16XE-50? How can I replace it with my external timebase ( a pulse signal from an atom clock)?
Also after replacing the internal timebase with external one, the scan rate and channel convert rate will be based on this external timebase automatically, right? For example, I define 1000 scan/s on AI0-AI8, it will be a scan rate based on the external timebase?

The AI Clock Config.vi can be used to set the scan clock rate. If a person wishes to change the boards internal time base to an external one, the method described in http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/3efedde4322fef19862567740067f3cc/5601c8268d625a3c86256cf50071199d?OpenDocument is the way to do this.
The PCI-MIO-16XE-50 has a RTSI connector. Please look at the PCI Board JPEG on http://digital.ni.com/public.nsf/websearch/AD2D553F55A07BBF8625650D005F1F00?OpenDocument for the location of this connector. This site also contains a table of the RTSI Connector Pinouts.

External time base changes with velocity

Hi everybody
I am using output channel A of a quadrature TTL encoder as external time base of the acquisition of three analog input signals. I acquire a total of 1024 scans, one scan for one pulse of the encoder. I use this system to acquire signal from an internal combustion engine. When the velocity of the engine is 1700 rpm, my system acquires the number of cycles of the signals that I expect. But when the velocity is 2000 rpm (or more) my system acquires more cycles altough the number of scans don´t change. It is like the board (or anything) doesn´t read all the pulses of the encoder). I use LabView 5.0 and the example: "Acquire N Scans ExtScanClk D-Trig.vi" for my acquisition. My board is PCI 6023-E.
Have anybody any idea w
hat should I do? I appreciate your help.

according to what you say, it seems fairly clear that the board is not missing pulses and that those pulses are a clean signal.
What comes to my mind now is... Why do you say that you get more cycles? I mean, if you always get the number of samples you request, what's the problem? Maybe a delay between channels?
If that's the case, then it may have something to do with the interchannel delay parameter.
You can change the value of this parameter with the AI Config vi.
I would first check these links below that talk about it, and see if the behavior you are seeing is just an effect of your board having a unique ADC and hence a delay between samples of different channels.

Raj, Check if my explanation helps you:
Your job runs every 10 seconds.
Lets say first time you are scheduling and running your job at 12:00:00 PM
Now your proc will start executing.
Say it got finished at 12:00:07.
Now the next schedule time is 12:00:10 PM.
The moment this time hits, the job will get invoked and start executing the proc.
Lets say this time it finished at 12:00:22 PM (It took 2 extra seconds)
This time the scheduled time is already gone (12:00:20 PM), thus it'll now run at the next schedule that is 12:00:30 PM.
Thus if anytime your job takes more than 10 seconds to run, it'll just miss those particular schedules overlapping with execution time. Otherwise you are good to go.
PS: A job is the best way to handle this, in your problem statement you don't need a job but that would be wrong. You have another way to do that, if you keep running your procedure all the time and the moment your timestamp hits a multiple of 10
seconds you can run your logic and then returning to the timer. But this is extremely wrong for a system. Even if your requirement is extremely transactional and complex, I would not suggest this. If the job is taking more than 10seconds (which it might if
your logics inside are complex), you should optimize your code and table architecture.

Edit Custom base calendar

I created a custom base calendar to use with local holidays, which I use for a number of projects.
This works fine, but I need to add holidays. That again works fine for each project. But is it possible to edit this base calendar so that the changes are reflected in all projects that use it?

From your question, I assume you use only the desktop Project and not Project Server.
When you said, you use the base calendar for a number of projects, I assume you have created the custom calendar and shared this calendar to other project files either by using the current plan as a template or by using the Organizer.
Desktop Project doesn't have way to centralize calendars
Rather, if the edits needs to the custom base calendar needs to appear on other files, you need to open the current file and other project file, and select File, Info, Organizer. Select the calendar to be copied and hit copy. :)

Inserting Data from Oracle to SQL Server on the Real Time Basis.

Hi Everyone,
I need to insert data from Oracle to SQL Server on the Real Time basis, we have to fetch data from oracle approx 20 tables, and each table has more than 30 Fields. I need to fetch data in every 15 mins.
I have created a job using SQL SERVER Agent by writing insert queries for all the tables with conditions that no rows will be inserted which is already in SQL. note that this job is taking only 1 min to execute.
But in this way our SQL Server getting hanged and it giving problems to other application running in the SQL SERVER.
So i m requesting all of you that what is the best way to insert huge amount of data on the real time basis.

Make Edit time and Edit count info available in Loupe Info, grid view option, Edit History panel and Smart Collection

We all know that Lightroom can sort images in grid view by edit time or edit count. I cannot find any way to display edit time and/or edit count in view option or loupe info. I think these should be made viewable. Without them, when you have a large batch of image and you previously edited only some and come back later to finish, you don't know which ones need more work, etc.
Another useful thing is that Edit History should have an option to show the date/time of the edit. It may be shown when mouse is hovered over an edit item line.
Similarly, smart folder can filter the images by Edit Time being before/after a certain date. However, if I have no way of knowing what the edit times and counts are, this feature has little use.
Alll of the above should be a specific date like 08-20-2009 or Today, yesterday, 43 days ago, etc. Both forms are useful for different purposes.

Also, it would be good if the SDK functions for updating custom metadata did not necessarily bump the edit time.

Message no.8Z876 No time base defined for the revaluation key -Problem ABAW

I have a problem... I have a revaluation area (04: in local currency) and a parallel revaluation area (05: in hard currency) and I have to revaluate an asset, but I couldn't with Tx ABAW. The error is :
Message no. 8Z876 No time base defined for the revaluation key
I checked the configuration and I think it's all ok. I did some tests and I could revaluate only the Area 04 (local currency). Example:
Area 04: 500000 PEN
Area 05: 0 USD.
But this is a big problem for example when I make a transfer the asset to other because the revaluation Area doesn't transfer.
Can anybody please tell me how resolve this?

The error
message 8Z 876 can be shown for two basic things:
1. TBE (Time Base exposure variant) is not maintained.
   Please check if any time base is maintained for the revaluation key.
And if it have all the intervals correctly defined and the post flag
marked for the months required to calculate revalaution.
   If it is maintained please check if the last revaluation date is
filled in your revaluation areas. If the last revaluation date field is
blank, the time base must have the following entry: 31.12.XXXX-1 where
XXXX is the current fiscal year (for ABAW).
2. In the ABAW transaction itself you are trying to post values to any
of the parallel areas defined in the chart of depreciation.
   In transaction ABAW (or AB01) do not post any amount to parallel
areas. The posted values should be equal to zero.
   The values in hard currency will never be revaluated by the inflation
program. If this is the case, please enter manually only zero values as
"Amount posted" in those parallel areas.
If by some specific reasons you still plan to post (manually) to these
parallel areas, you will get error message 8z876 in accordance to your
explanation of the problem.
   To allow posting of non-zero amounts to these areas, you need to
create Revaluation Key NULO. To do this, go to the customizing system
IMG (transaction SPRO) according to the link:
IMG -> Financial Accounting -> Asset Accounting -> Special Valuation ->
        Revaluation of Fixed Assets -> Revaluation for the Balance Sheet
        -> Inflation -> Maintain Revaluation Keys
Create new entry (click F5) for key with name NULO, And save data
(Ctrl+S).
Please, adjust your customizing in accordance with the instructions
above.

How can i add a menu item to the labview edit time menus and to the right click popup menu of any selected object in a block diagram?

It sounds to me like you are looking for something like the Right-Click Framework. Some people really like it, I have not used it extensively myself. I've had a request to convert a quick drop shortcut into a RCF plug-in, I'll see how it goes. I have also longed for a good way to hook into the LV IDE to add my own tools, what I find are useful, but not fully satisfactory solutions.
1) Right-Click Framework: Some initial startup costs in terms of downloading and installing. Start up is a bit slow (on my machine), and the workflow is a bit different than what I am used to: Select an object, press the hotkey, right-click. You can get used to it, but it is not as responsive as a built-in right-click since you can't right-click in one action. It seems to be easily extensible, I'll know more in a day or two.
2) Quick Drop: Built into LV. Slow startup like RCF. Fairly easily extensible. Not context aware (unless you build it in to your plug-in), so you have to choose your letters wisely. After the initial pain, the response time is not shabby, does require the extra Ctrl-Space action.
3) Tools Menu: I drop a few things in here, like my custom connector pane editor. Not bad, but there are no keyboard shortcuts (what a pain), so it is good for actions that you might call once or twice on a given VI.
In short, all of these methods require extra clicks or keypresses and are a bit sluggish. If something like copy and paste behaved this way we would never use LV again, but if your tool truly saves you a bunch of steps it is well worth it. I have almost run out of letters to use for my QD shortcuts.
Addedendum: Personally I am not quite ready to start talking to my computer, but LVSpeak seems pretty cool, Smashy Smashy.
