Editing video in Photoshop problems

I have a piece that the client is prepared to ditch because the talent wasn't looking to good in the lighting available. I had the crazy idea to edit the video frame by frame in photoshop cs5 Extended. I finished one of the videos, and photoshop crashed on export, but when I go back to open the psd file I get an error that it can't be opened by my version of Photoshop. This has happened three times now. Anyone run into this issue? I will also post at Adobe's site but thought I'd check in here too.
Garrett

Found the answer eventually on the Adobe forums. Updating Photoshop did the trick. Now to decipher all the settings since my 600mb .mov file turned into an 8gb file on render.

Trying to edit video but Photoshop cs6 wont open the VOB  files.  I tried to change the extension to AVI and then drag it in.  It works but it's distorted.  All the heads in the photo are narrow and tall.  Can anyone help me figure this thing out?  I'm sooo frustrated!  Thanks

I assume these came from a DVD? Was this DVD an encrypted holywood DVD or a home video that you got of something like sky diving? You'll probably need photoshop extended to switch pixel aspect ratios. Or convert them into a format that photoshop understands with a 1.0 pixel aspect ratio. Do you have access to adobe media encoder?

  • Editing video in Photoshop - apply to all frame

I'm editing some HD video in Photoshop.  I have a filter (Gaussian blur in an area selection) that I want to apply to all frames of the video.
I can do it by selecting each layer at a time (it works, but painfully slow) but how do I apply the same filter to all layers at once?
Also, sometimes I am working on a layer and by selecting it or turning view on or off (or something) all of a sudden, all of the animation is the same frame.  I don't know what happens, but I have to start over.
Last question: what is "Propgate first frame?"
    Thanks

You may find more productivity by applying this blur in your video editor.

  • Editing Video in Photoshop CS6

I have several hours of video aerials shot with a JVC GY-HM750U camera. The camera creates a .MOV video file. Great looking stuff but I have some lens dirt showing up in everything. I upgraded from CS5 to CS6 because I saw a tutorial demonstrating how to use smart layers and the dust and scratches filter to get rid of the problem. Still working on the best settings for the filter to best take care of the problem. But when I exported a test clip in an H.264 or QuickTime format, both rendered files only played part way through then the image froze but the progress bar in the player kept moving. The image changed abruptly to somewhere down the clip and then ended. I also edit all other video in FCP6. When I import the .MOV file into FCP it behaves the same. Can anyone offer any help? Thanks.

PS corrupts certain MOV files and encodes them wrongly. That's a known issue and regular concern on the video apps forums. Render image sequences. Mr. Pfaffenbichler has a point of course - only do in PS, what you can't do in AE or elsewhere, if you have access to these tools.

  • Import DVD as editable video in PhotoShop CS6

Is this possible? If not, are developers planning to make this into a new feature for the shipping version?

Hello, unless I misunderstand you, I don't know many users who would edit their own DVD rather than the files that created them. Per the copyright laws, you are not supposed to edit somebody else's movie...

  • Photoshop Edited Video Not Playing In Premiere Pro

    Hi All
Apologies if this thread has been repeated elsewhere but I am getting pretty deperate in trying to sorth this problem out.
I am creating a remastered project of my Sister's Wedding video and I want to touch up a few frames in the video usinf Photoshop.
Here are the steps I did:
    1) I have created a new Photoshop (PSD) file within Premiere Pro with the same frame size/rate etc.
    2) I then import the wedding video into the PSD doucument in photoshop which creates a video layer.
    3) I search the frames that require repair and edit using the tools in PS.
    4) Then Save the the file in PS.
    5) I move back to PPro and Import the PSD file into the project panel.  As there was only one video layer, I selected 'all layers'.
    6) I move the PSD file to the timeline and press play and the program monitor just shows the last frame I edited in Photoshop even though the sequence is over 90 minutes long!  The playhead moves but just a single frame shown on the monitor.
Am I missing something here?  I know you can have a Photoshop/Premiere Pro workglow and do all the edits or filtering, transitions necessary and it will automatically update in Premiere Pro, but this simply isn't working as I'd expect.
I am an amateur user of these applications and being partially sighted probably doesn't help either, so any help would be gratefully received.
    Thanks in advance
    Dave

    Hi Dave,
Haven't touched up any video in Photoshop in a couple of years, but the last step is definitely to export as VIDEO from PS, which will be an .MOV file. A .PSD file is not video
EDIT: Just Googled "how to edit video in photoshop", tons of tutorial vids come up right away
    Thanks

  • Video editing/exporting in Photoshop CS6 - original quality gone in YouTube. Idea?

Hello, i've searched this forum and other sources already, but couldn't find a solution. Unfortunately, i am not a video pro.
I record video tutorials about Photoshop (so, screen captures) and edit/combine the clips inside Photoshop CS6 in Win 7/64; Photoshop's new video talent is nice. I record 852x480px at 15 fps with FastStone Capture  and save in WMV.
I want to show the finished video tutorial on Youtube. There are several things baffling me when editing video in Photoshop CS6.
My original records  (according to MediaInfo):
    Software: FastStone Capture
Overall bit rate mode                    : Variable
Overall bit rate                         : 113 Kbps
Maximum Overall bit rate                 : 124 Kbps
    Format                                   : WMV1
    Codec ID                                 : WMV1
    Codec ID/Info                            : Windows Media Video 7
Description of the codec                 : Windows Media Video V7
    Bit rate mode                            : Variable
    Bit rate                                 : 56.8 Kbps
    Width                                    : 852 pixels
    Height                                   : 480 pixels
    Display aspect ratio                     : 16:9
    Frame rate                               : 15.000 fps
    Bit depth                                : 8 bits
    Bits/(Pixel*Frame)                       : 0.009
    Stream size                              : 212 KiB (50%)
    Audio
    Format                                   : WMA
    Format version                           : Version 2
    Codec ID                                 : 161
Codec ID/Info                            : Windows Media Audio
Description of the codec                 : Windows Media Audio 9.2 -  48 kbps, 44 kHz, mono 1-pass CBR
    Bit rate mode                            : Constant
    Bit rate                                 : 48.0 Kbps
    Channel(s)                               : 1 channel
    Sampling rate                            : 44.1 KHz
    Bit depth                                : 16 bits
    Stream size                              : 179 KiB (43%)
If i upload this *original* WMV clip *without any editing* to YouTube, it looks very nice on YouTube (if you manually set the YouTube player quality to 480p). YouTube upscales the low-res clip nicely even on big screens. (I use the low screen resolution of 852x480 so that tool icons and letters in menus don't appear to small. I would love to stay with that resolution.)
But i want to combine several screen capture takes in Photoshop CS6. Inside Photoshop CS6 Extended, i get the Adobe Media Encoder (AME) and have only two format options: H.264 (MP4) and DPX (DPX only offerening resolutions between 1080 and 2048 px wide). There is no AVI or WMV or anything else offered.
So from Photoshop CS6 i export to MP4 with these specs:
    MP4
Preset: High Quality (nothing "better" is offered)
    Size: as original (852x480)
    Framerate: as original (15 fps)
    Interlacing: progressive (recommended by YouTube)
The result looks very nice when i play it locally in VLC. It looks like the original WMV.
But: When i upload the Photoshop-version to YouTube, the video looks very badly "upsampled" and blurred. It looks much worse than the uploaded WMV original.
If you like, you can compare the two videos from the same source online:
Uploaded WMV clip, looking good (set player to 480 p):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vjmKohV_jmU
Rendered in Photoshop CS6, looking bad (set player to 480 p):
    http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aA0Veq9IZac
I do like the resolution of 852x480 and would like to keep it. If not possible, i have to record tutorials in 1280x720, even though icons and menus look too small. So far i have not tested it.
I searched my folder C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\dynamiclinkmediaserver\1.0. There is a lot in it which i don't understand, but some file names include "MPEG", "AVI", "Adobe QT Server" etc. I think there is no Quicktime installed on my machine; i try to avoid it as it does many different things to the system and is obnoxious.
    My questions:
    - When aiming for a YouTube cast, could i stay with 852x480 (at 15 fps), or doesn't it make sense? (I like that size.) If 852x480 is not ok, what is the lowest resolution for getting good looking presentations on Youtube?
    - Why does the Adobe Media Encoder in my Photoshop CS6 only offer the formats H.264 and DPX? Can i get more? (Free, pay.) Would it help?
    - Do i need to install Quicktime? How could i do this with less intrusive QT behaviour?
    - Should i record more fps in FastStone Capture? (I don't find more fps necessary when looking at the original and when looking at the uploaded *original*.)
    - What to do?
    Thanks for all suggestions!

My Canon EOS Camera can also capture 1080p Video it writes it to the memory Card as Name.MOV.  I don't do video the file are huge. But you
made me want to see what CS6 video support could do to reduce the file size.
So I took one of my captured .mov files and droped it onto Photoshop the .mov file was 264,678,777 byte in size.  I saw the Photoshop could render H264 .mp4 video anf that there were some presets for YouTube at 29.97 the rate my camera does for 1080p, 720p and SD 360p I also tried createin a 854x480 16:9 video 480P
These are the size file produced 480 make no sence it so close to 720 file size.

  • LR4 Problem: The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched.

Is there a fix for this?  When I try to edit an image in Photoshop from Lightroom 4 (CTRL+E), Photoshop CS6 launches immediately but with no image.  In Lightroom 4, after about two minutes, the message box appears saying "The file could not be edited because Adobe Photoshop CS6 could not be launched."  When I click OK, the image promptly opens in Photoshop CS6 like normal.  This wan an itermittent issue for me after the LR4.1 release.  I was hoping that LR4.2 would help, but now I get the error every time.
    System
    Lightroom 4.2 x64
    Photoshop CS6 v13.0.1 x64
    Bridge 5.0.1.23 x64
    Windows 7 Pro x64
AMD Six Core / 3.9 Ghz
    16 GB Memory
    NVidia Quadro 1 Gb Video
    Scratch space on three drives

This may be a cooincidence, I starting having problems after I started using a Nikon D800, which has 36MP files.  LR4 released at the same time as the D800.  LR4 shows signs of struggling with the larger files, which are typically 280MB TIFFs for the D800, like freezing for several seconds when using an adjustment brush or going into a spasm with the crop tool.  Because Photoshop does not have similar large file issues, I'm doing more basic work in Photoshop, like cropping, dodge and burn, exposure adjustment, etc.
Because Photoshop otherwise runs fine, and appears to read all the prefernes properly mid-issue, to get a better idea of what's going on, I turned on Process Monitor from Technet. For what it's worth, LR4 appears to touch the Photoshop preferences before it launches Photoshop.  LR4 must have a memory leak in that corrupts the Photoshop preferences file in a way that makes no difference to Photoshop.
My weekend project is to try Capture One to see if I can spend more time on photography and less troubleshooting Adobe problems.  As it stands, LR4 is not usable for me.

  • Green flickering frames in my videos in Photoshop CC, anyone else have this problem?

I am working on editing a video in Photoshop CC using the motion layout and I and every so often I get a green frame. I am doing everything the same as always has anyone else had this problem?

any phone can bend. the people who have the most issues with that are the ones that wear skinny jeans. your pants are applying presure at the top and bottom of the phone and your thigh is putting pressure in the middle. so you are effectivly putting your iphone into a bending press.

  • When I use Photoshop CS 6 to edit video, I don't know how to change video speed after I converted the clip to smart object?

When I use Photoshop CS 6 to edit video, I don't know how to change video speed after I converted the clip to smart object? The clip color turns purple and it only allows me to add motion but not change the clip duration and speed anymore.

Thanks for the reply and as a work around method I used the Photoshop to do all the adjustments then export the video to iMovie to finish the final cut. I also have a problem to paint or clone on a blank video layer created in Photoshop. It tells me the time is beyond the target frame time, I don't understand the message. Can you explain to me what did I do wrong? Thanks a lot!

  • Editing a video in Photoshop cs6

    Hello All
I'm using Photoshop cs6 version 13.0.1 x64. I saw that Is it possible to edit videos. My question, Is there a possibility that we can change the background of a video in order to create a green screen video?
    Regards
    Panos

Green screen videos are made by merging two video one of which has been captured/filmed with a green background.  The green background  is removed from that video which is overlayed onto the other video the other video becomes the background replacing what was green. So I believe the you would need a video plug-in the remove the green.  I do not do video editing.  Adobe Premiere Pro is a video editor and there is Adobe After Effects there is where I would expect to to find a green screen plugin or filter.

  • I have photoshop elements,i wanted to edit videos, was offered 30day trial of the premiere version

after downloading,i had to resart my laptop.when i tried to open photoshop elements now,it takes ages to load and when it does,is very unresponsive.i have since found out that my original version has gone and am being promted on screen that i will need to pay for the premeire version when the 30days is up.when downloading the premiere trial version,i was not warned this would happen and that my verrsion of elements would be lost.
    any help?
    richard

Just a further clarification: Premiere Elements doesn't mean fancy deluxe PSE. Just as Photoshop Elements is the consumer version of Adobe's professional photo editing program, called Photoshop, Premiere Elements is the consumer version of Adobe's professional video editing program, Premiere.
Photoshop Elements is only for editing still photos, not movies.

  • Problem editing images in Photoshop CS6 with LR 4.1

I have Photoshop CS6 with the latest version of Camera Raw, 7.1.
However, when I attempt to open a file in Photoshop using the Edit > Open in Photoshop CS6 command, I get the following error message:
This version of Lightroom may require the Photoshop Camera Raw plug-in version 7.1 for full compatibility.
Why is this happening when I've already upgraded to Camera Raw 7.1?

    OS X 10.7.4
I don't see a Camera Raw folder. I see a folder for Photoshop CS6, Extension Manager CS6 and Bridge CS6.
I updated by going to the Help menu in Photoshop and selecting "Updates..."
According to "System Info" in the Help menu, Camera Raw 7.1 is installed. It says:

  • Since upgrading to Snow Leopard Problems when editing picture in Photoshop CS4 - not switching to dedicated space

    Hi,
I'd appreciate your help on this, maybe I just chose a stupid set-up to begin with.
I use spaces and have allocated Space 1 to Lightroom and Space 2 to Photoshop to always have a clear backdrop when switching to Photoshop.
Since upgrading to Snow Leopard, when I choose 'Edit photo in Photoshop', Photoshop (the frame) opens fine in it's correct space, but the picture does not show. When I click on Window and on the respective picture window the picture shows but all reverts to Space 1 and I have the Lightroom window in the background so that I need to extend the Photoshop window to create a less distracting background.
Any idea why this happens or any suggestions for a better set up?
    Thanks heaps
    Claudia

    Claudia
I am running PS CS4 as an external editor for my Lightroom 2.5 installation on a MacBook Pro running Snow Leopard 10.6.1 and I have exactly the same 'Spaces' setup as you (i.e. LR and PS each are in their own space) but I am not experiencing the behaviour you are experiencing.
If it's of any help, you might try fiddling with the window behaviour in PS to see if it changes anything? In the "Window" menu I have selected the "Application Bar" rather than the "Application Frame".

  • When editing 1080p video in photoshop the frame rate is significantly dropping, I do have mac book pro 2.8Ghz 16GB Ram. Any reason why?

I am trying to edit video from my DSLR and when the footage is downloaded, just converting it to smart object causes dropping frame rate; not saying with couple of adjustment layers. I bought the highest spec mac book pro laptop and was told it should cope perfectly. Any advise?
