Editing web site from different computers

I'm working on a web site for a journalism class with another mac user. She registered for the 60 day .mac trial. How do I open up the web site on my computer so we can both edit it??? thanks!

The trick, in your case, however, is that you can't both work on it at the same time. You will have to send a thumb drive (or a CD or something) back and forth.

I started creating my site on a PB 15", but when I'm home I like the speed of my iMac and I'd like to continue the editing process on my iMac but I can't find the files that iWeb saves.
I'd ideally like to save my site on my 30gig iPod using it as a hard drive between both. I would love for this to happen but I can't find the files saved by iWeb. Is this even possible?
I've even tried linking my PB to my iMac via firewire as a hard drive. No Luck.

I think iWeb only recognizes the 'domain.sites' file so while you can set up more than one site, they are in the same project.
Of course, the workround is to move the domain.sites file out of the default location, which them makes iWeb create a new one. You can then work on any number of projects, only moving the correct file into the default location for work on each one. Not elegant by any means, but until someone suggests a better way (or Apple produce a more flexible version of the software) it works fine that way.

I was told you have to put your MP3's on a web site and then attach the URL to the comunity forum you want to put them on . However I was told the MP3's you put on your web site do not have URl's to them. Does anyone know how to attach your MP3's to web sites from a Mac?

You need to put those files on the web server that you use and then link to them. If you had a MobileMe account and put the files in the Music folder on your iDisk the link would be:
http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Music/Hairshort.mp3
If you wanted to just put a text link to the file it would look like this:
Short Hair

If the site doesn't support HTML but uses BBCode the link would be:
http://homepage.mac.com/toad.hall/.Music/Hairshort.mp3
For a text based link to the file with BBCode it would be:
Short Hair
Short Hair
The key is to put the files on your server, get the URL to their location and use it.

Gathering documents from different computers?

Im writing a project on about 100 pages, we are seven students writing it, and we are all contributim by writing from different computers using different writing programs. This means that I have to gather documents with different margins, spacings etc. when im finnishing the projekt.
How can I make all margins, spacing etc. the same? And exactly what should I remember to change, in order to get the document to look like it was written from one computer?

Well my first initial thought would be close to what you are describing, to gather all documents in one document, mark it all and start changeing, but what I want to make sure is to what settings I need to be aware of, are there other than margins, font, spacings? There are different spacings from when you hit enter to a new line to when you press the tabulator to indent a new line. Just clicking on the i button and then the T, alot of different settings comes up concerning different spacings, linings etc.

Adobe Presenter: working from different computers transferring files

I am using Adobe presenter. I need to work from home, so have copied my powerpoint and all its associated adobe presenter audio files from one location to another. I used to be able to do this without problems. However, it seems I'm no longer able to do it: I open powerpoint and go to the adobe presenter toolbar and try to record more audio and clearly the system shows no audio is associated with this file. Getting out of adobe presenter makes the system delete the folder with associated audio files (it seems it is not linking them properly, but still recognising them as adobe presenter audio files and deleting them as if to start recording from scratch).
Can anyone help? how can I work on the same files from different computers without losing the data (or the links) in between?

Hi folks
One way to achieve this easily is by using DropBox. This will create a folder that you sync to the cloud. Then you create a Dropbox on the second computer and whatever you change and save is automatically updated and transferred to the other computer keeping them in sync. Works really well.

Are you trying to access a blacklisted site? You can uncheck "Warn when visiting a fraudulent website" in Safari>Preferences>Security. I would not recommend that for obvious reasons.

Publishing web from different computers, help needed

Wanna work on my web from different Macs, so I followed the guide line to copy out the "domain" file from my company's machine then move it home. After working with my Mac at home, I tried to publish it to Mobileme.
But I found counter I put on the front page isn't working anymore, so does anyone here knows how to solve it?

Also, test your site to ensure that the files are being uploaded. Try selecting ftp to a folder option in iWeb instead of ftp to MobileMe and open your site on your desktop to see if the hit counter shows up there.

Code not readable from different computers

I was testing my site from a different computer than the one
I used to design the site, so I copied the entire site folder onto
a flash drive and loaded it on a desktop that did not have
Dreamweaver installed on it. The site loaded fine in the browser,
Spry Menu Bar included but when I decided to make a change and
tried to load the html file in microsoft word, it gave me a message
saying "missing file ... SpryMenuBarHorivontal.css." The file *was*
in the folder in its proper place. When I loaded it anyway, it
looked like gibberish. When I then re-loaded the file in the
browser, the menu bar now displayed as a simple text list of links.
Loading the code on my DW computer did not revert it to the Spry
menu bar format - it still loaded as a simple list.
I am worried that I will not be able to make simple changes
to the text content on ths site without having DW on hand. What is
it that is preventing the code from translating? Before I got DW, I
constructed a page right from html on this computer without
problems. Is it the CSS that's confusing the other computer?

I can't put it on a web server because I'm making the site
for someone else and I don't have server details. Also, I need to
know that that person will be able to edit the file without DW, not
just view the site. You need to have the file on your computer for
that, don't you?

html files on that computer, because word can handle html just fine
(in my previous experience, at least) and because I prefer its
interface to that of notepad. Is there any reason why *not* to use
Word in this situation?

Publishing from different computers.

I just got iWeb and an iMac. I already had an iBook on which i installed iLife 06 (forget waiting for any new releases).
Anyway, I made a site on the iMac and published it to .Mac. I then made one on my laptop and published that also to .Mac. Only one site shows up at a time - the last one I published. Kinda like it preempts the previous page. They have different names so I don't really know what the problem is. I logged out of my .Mac account and cleared the browser cache.
The first time I went to .lMac on the log in page it showed a link to one of the pages under, of course, Pages. Now, nothing shows.
Both sites are in the Sites folder on my iDisk.
What gives?

Maybe I didn't explain myself well tho - I published 2 separate sites, from 2 different computers to 1 .Mac account. However, only 1 is showing up when I type in: web.mac.com/user name. When I go to .Mac where it lists my homepages, etc. it also doesn't list the iWeb page (or site). It only lists my homepages.
Any help is appreciated and I have bookmarked those other links as I am sure I will be needing them.
