Editing Websites for clients after completion

Say I built a website for a client but it needs to be updated with content occasionally. Since I am the one who built the website with muse, on my computer, would I be the only one with the ability to edit it? Say the client hired a new web developer/designer to work on the website, where would he be able to edit the site other than muse?

If they don't have Muse but need minor text updates they can use In Browser Editing features. Alternatively, they do not have to have Muse but once it is edited outside of Muse it will no longer be able to be brought back into Muse.

Upload captivate file to my website for client use?

If i upload the interactive captivate file to my website for clients to train their employees, would my client be able to:
1. click to advance each slide
2. take the quiz that include referring back to a slide when the answer is wrong
3. print a certificate of completion.

Unless the user's web server is a SCORM or AICC compliant LMS there's no point telling them to set this reporting option. You can have a web server WITHOUT it being an LMS. I don't see anywhere in the original poster's text that they state they were using an LMS.
For a web server to be compatible with Captivate outputs the only requirements are that it can serve HTML, SWF, and JS files, not necessarily that it must be SCORM content.

Can I use Acrobat to create an editable PDF for client's bids?

Hey all,
I recently created a website for a client who sends out hundreds of bids a year in the form of a PDF. They are interested in designing an editable template and I'm at a loss.
Certain areas need to be changed for each bid (bids are around 100 pages each with details about each project). Do any of you know if there is a way to set up a PDF template that can be edited - with pages being added and removed - like a word document?
Will they need a copy of Acrobat, or can I create an editable, stand-alone document that can be saved and resaved as needed?
Otherwise the only thing I can think to do would be to create a nice template and force it into a Word doc as best as I can so he can make changes for each different bid...
I would really appreciate some guidance on this one. I'm not sure how to proceed.

While Acrobat can do minor touchups (correcting a typo, shifting the position of something on a page, etc.) it cannot perform major rework and doesn't understand the idea of document-level reflow.
PDF files are not designed to be editable like a word processor document. It's an end-destination format; you make changes in the original application and re-export a new PDF.

10.6.8 Server: Spotlight stops working for clients after fresh installation and updates

Problem:
On 2013-02-22, I reinstalled my Xserve with fresh 10.6.3 and upgraded it to 10.6.8 OS X Server. Spotlight used to be working perfectly for clients to search over the network but now it is not working. Administrators doing local spotlight search on Xserve server side is searchable. Clients with less privileges searching files across the network to the server will receive null result. Administrators searching files across the network is still working.
I believe it has something to do with the update packages and some security improvement bugs introduced in late 2012 or early 2013.
All my clients Macs are in either 10.7.5 and 10.8.2.
Can anyone confirm this? All my staff members in the company cannot do the spotlight search to the server now!

the problem can be solved if you allow the permssion of parental folder of your share points to have at least Read Only permission for User and Group:
permission: 644
User: Read&Write
Group: Read Only
Others: Read Only (or No Access)
In my case, it is strange that PCs can still do the search to the Snow Leopard Server by SMB protocol while Mac using AFP cannot even when the parental folder had permission 600. This could be a secure issue in Snow Leopard's SMB1.0 protocol. Note that SMB in Snow Leopard is SMB1.0, which is less secure and hence deprecated after Snow Leopard. From Lion onwards, all OS X uses SMB2.0 and/or SMB X.
Oh, yes, there is one more thing:
you may find your scanner using SMB protocol stopped functioning properly if you use (Mountain) Lion client and (Mountain) Lion server. It boils down to Apple's silent change of SMB protocol from SMB1.0 to SMB2.0. Solution? Use FTP protocol for now. Don't blame Apple too much because Apple had to follow the rules of GPLv3. The SMB issue will go on as Microsoft introduces its own SMB 3.0 protocol in Windows 8 while Apple introduces its SMB verison dubbed SMB X.

How do I create a form with fixed fields for clients to complete?

I want to create a form in pages that I can then save as a pdf to load on my website so my clients can download and fill in the fields without messing with the overall formate of the sheet.

Sorry, not sure I am clear. I want a form w/ name, address, etc. I want to be able to send it as an email to people to fill out and also load it to my website for people to download, fill out, and email back to me.
My concern is I there are fields that they can write sentences and I want to control how much they write so it doesn't mess up the formatting when I go to print.

I use to have wireless infrastructure based on autonomous APs 1142n, auth w/ 802.1x and everything was fine.
My Company decided to implement WLC 5508, and I changed only 2nd floor (2 APs) as lightweight and implement WLC over there as pilot testing...
Now All persons here (around 35 clients) are complaining about disconnections, poor signal...
Both APs are distant each other maximim of 15 meters... Our office has a medium open spaced room, with (20 X 15 meters) only 2 "Pilaster" in the middle of the room.

At 3rd floor all APs are autonomous, I accessed one of them and find this parameter

Create text editable PDF for client to edit in Adobe Reader

I would like to create a PDF from either Illustrator or InDesign so that my client can edit just the text in the document using Adobe Reader as necessary (for flyers and business cards etc). I want to set the file up in Illustrator or InDesign so all text is laid out properly where I have the proper tools to do so, rather than using the Acrobat form tool and guessing measurement/layout etc. I have tried exporting to PDF from both programs and then using Acrobat Pro's form feature but it won't recognise any of the fields. I am using CS4 and Acrobat Pro 9 and am unsure if my software is too old to complete these tasks or if I am doing it incorrectly. I have seen it done in plenty of places so I know it is possible, I'm just not sure how.

Editable template for client?

Is there such a thing as to build a template in Illustrator so that the client can change the text on it? Kind of like a Content Management System on a Website?
If so, what would the client be able to use to edit in? Of course, the client would like little to no expense.

It's done all the time using Illustrator (or most any other graphics program that can export to PDF) in combination with Acrobat.
1. Draw the artwork in Illustrator (or whatever). Everything except the text that needs to be editable by the end user.
2. Export to PDF.
3. Open in Acrobat Pro.
4. Add text fields.
5. Enable the PDF for Reader Extensions.
The recipient can now simply open the PDF in Reader, edit the text in the fields, and save a copy of the PDF with the edits intact.

Invalid serial number on Adobe website for CS2 After Effects

Since the activation server is shutdown for the CS2 version of Production Studio Premium which I purchased in 2007, I was directed to an adobe website where I could download my Production Studio software that did not require activation. The site provided the indivudal programs with serial numbers to use when installing. All went fine until I tried to install After Effects - the serial number provided was invalid according to the install wizzard.
My question is how do I get the correct serial number for this product?

Adobe InDesign editing options for client?

I have a client who wants to be able to create their own in-house documents, mostly postcards, flyers, etc. I can design and build them in InDesign, but is there an easy, inexpensive solution for them to be able to use that as a template, instead of purchasing a full version of Adobe InDesign? Currently they're using Publisher, and since I'm on a Mac, I can't create templates for them to use. InCopy sounds interesting, but the documentation on the Adobe site is so marketing driven that it's tough to tell what InCopy can actually do.

Seriously though you can design something up nice and then port it over to Word or Publisher so they can edit have a look at this here and think laterally. Yes they will pay more for you to do that than if they had and could use InDesign, No it is not OK for them to whine about that.

H-REAP : difficulty to get IP-adress for client after loss of controler

I configured the following:
- H-REAP Wlan
- H-REAP AP
-There is no trunk port on the AP, so "Vlan support" is unchecked in the AP config. Because I want to transit the Capwap data and the H-REAP data on the same vlan.
-I Have controller 5508 version 6.0.182.0
The first time I connect with my PC to the H-REAP Wlan, I get an Ip address
I see the DHCP request going out of the AP.
I can disconnect and reconnect many times with my PC, and I get all the time an IP-address.
Then , I disconnect the link between the AP and the WLC, and I reconnect it after a few minutes.( So the controler is again joined by the AP)
Then, when I try to connect the the H-REAP Wlan , it is impossible to get Ip address. I do not see "dhcp-discover" going out of the AP.
I have a message in the log of the AP: "Client 0018.de6a.3058 had 1 AES-CCMP TSC replays"
Even, if I reload the AP, the problem is still there.
The only way I found to clear the problem, is to modify something in the H-Reap-Wlan config, and to apply it.
Do you have any idea ?

You are maybe right.
I do 4 actions/
- Change in Wlan :
1 Aironet IE : From enable to disable (There is information in the packet that some older clients do not understand and clients can act in strange ways. So when we disable this feature, we find the client act much better
2 Client exclusion : from enable to disable (This feature comes into play if a client has issues connecting to the wlan 3 successive times. He then will be knocked off the wlan and has to wait 60 seconds to join)
3 WMM policy : from disable to allowed (If you have any WMM clients on the wlan they will be able to work/connect
4 Upgrade my driver: (This is always a good thing to do. The newer the driver the more fixes for previous issue on the older version driver
And it woks fine.

No website for client program download

I just installed FCS on a Leopard Server 10.5.4
Per the instructions, I installed and set up web services prior to installing FCS. Now that it is installed, i can go to http://localhost, but http://localhost/finalcutserver doesnt display anything.
I checked the web servers /Documents directory and there is nothing installed in there for FCS
Thoughts?

You will need to substitute the name of your localhost into where it says "localhost". For example, if I wanted to connect to Final Cut Server that was mounted on my specific laptop (it's not but I can't be bothered to find the exact name of our server when this will do for the example) is

Yours will be something similar. check in the System Preferences > Sharing if you don't know the exact name. it will be at the top of that window.

I would start off with Firefox's Add-ons page. Either:
* Ctrl+Shift+a
* orange Firefox button (or Tools menu) > Add-ons
In the left column, click Extensions. Then look for unwanted extensions and try the Remove button.
If the Remove button is missing, this usually means the extension was installed through the Windows installer. In that case, check for it in the Windows Control Panel, Uninstall a Program. Clicking the "Installed on" column header will bring the most recent additions to the top for easier spotting.
After you get rid of it, assuming you can remove it in one of those two ways, I suggest "mopping up" with some malware removers. This article lists tools that other Firefox users have found helpful: [[Troubleshoot Firefox issues caused by malware]].
