Editing with a jpg or pdf

I am doing a project that requires me to import a pdf or jpg. This file is a picture of a street round a about. I brought the pdf into photoshop, added some colors, etc. When I import into FCE, it looks great, but when I place it on the timeline and then hit the space bar, the lines look broken, when I stop the clip, it goes back to the crispness that I want. Any help, iBrain? I can email you the pdf if you wish. Also, I am thinking should I change the image to a tiff or....?
Thanks,
BC

Select the pic on the timeline and try Render Selection > Unlimited and render it.

I can't imagine any worse workflow than converting to JPEG to edit text, then back to PDF. Text in a PDF is a vector thing, smooth at all resolutions. And JPEG is made for photos. EVERY conversion to JPEG and back loses quality but how much loss there is will vary.
If you must go to an image format, try PNG.

  • PDF edits with Mac OS X Lion Aperçu don't show up on iPad: anyone with this issue?

I am using a MacBook Pro with Mac OS X Lion, and an iPad 2 with iOS 5. If I edit PDF files with Aperçu, the drawings or texts I have added do not display on the iPad 2. Is this a known Apple bug? Does anyone else have this problem?

Actually, it is in iBooks that I have this problem with PDF files that have been edited with Aperçu. With iPad Safari, the PDF edits are displayed correctly, through Google docs PDF viewer; I have not tried with iPad Safari independantly from Google docs, but I think it won't work. It does not work in iPad mail for such edited PDF files that are attached to a message.

  • Opening jpg and pdf with Adobe?

I have installed Adobe Reader X, Air and Acrobat but since then the pdfs no longer open automatically and I dont know how to get the to do so. While trying to fix it, I mistakenly confirmed an "open with" for jpgs also with Adobe. And now I cant open any of my jpgs because a notice comes on Adobe saying that the coding is wrogn. Wha a mess! Can anyone help me with where to go and what to do. It just doesnt look as if there is any way to reverse these simple mistakes
    Thanks

Shift-right click a JPG file and select Open with and then Choose program.
Select the program you want to use for these files and tick the box that says "Always use the selected program to open this kind of file".
To associate PDF files with Reader do the same with a PDF.

  • JPG or PDF image in Portfolio window

How do you remove the JPG or PDF image from the top right of a Portfolio window?
I'm using Acrobat X10.1.1 on an iMac with Mac OS X 10.7.2

I created a PDF Portfolio using the Wave layout. I added a few frames with a name and description.
I do not want to delete the image, I would like to remove the small jpg or pdf logo that appears on the picture (image) in the top right hand corner. The logo appears in both the Layout Mode and the Edit Mode. When I emailed the portfolio to myself the small logo was still in the picture.
    Thanks….

  • Problems converting images(gif, tif, bmp, jpg) to PDF

Hi,<br />I installed PDF Generator Elements 7.2.2 using the turnkey installation JBoss,MySql and the JDK 1.4.2_04 included) in Windows Server 2003 R2 Enterprise Edition with SP1 ENU (evaluation edition) with the same credentials with the one that installed MS Office 2003,but the deployment of the Configuration Manager failed to start the Java service of JBoss..I changed the logon credentials for the JBoss for Adobe Livecycle(Local System Account) and run again the configuration Manager..This time Java Service did start and the database was initialised but I could not convert anything  to PDF..So I changed back the logon credentials(of the JBoss for Adobe LiveCycle service) to the one that installed Office,I waited for the JavaService to start and run again the configuration Manager...This time everything worked out(with the deployment)and seemed to go well..I can convert doc, txt, rtf, xls and so on to PDF..The file types I cannot convert though are the following:<br />bmp,gif,jpg,tif and everything related to Acrobat due to:<br /><br />(JBoss log file)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,031 INFO  [STDOUT] Command line '"C:\Adobe\LiveCycle\jboss\j2re1.4.2_04_compiler\bin\javaw.exe"'<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT] java.lang.NoSuchMethodError: com.adobe.logging.AdobeLogManagerImpl.init(Ljava/lang/Class;Lcom/adobe/service/Manager;)V <br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at com.adobe.service.bslj.Controller.<init>(Controller.java:109)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at com.adobe.service.bslj.BslJ.initController(BslJ.java:51)<br />2007-03-13 05:53:05,406 INFO  [STDOUT]      at<br />com.adobe.native2pdf.bmc.AcrobatConverterServer.main(AcrobatConverterServer.java:67)<br />Any suggestion will be appreciated either on the installation walkthrough or everything in this post..<br />Thanks in advance,<br />Katerina

In the Filetype Settings for Adobe Acrobat I can see only the :
Specify the file extensions for file types accepted for this application, separated by commas.
    Filename Extensions : bmp,gif,e.t.c.
Is this setting available in PDF Generator Elements?
If so,then everything went wrong with the installation...
    Thanks,though...

  • Can you edit the text of a PDF that is placed in inDesign

I have placed a PDF in inDesign and am curious if I can edit the text of that PDF while in inDesign.

Edit it with Adobe Acrobat Pro, indesign can't. Option for Indesign is:
of course overlay text with new text
There is specialized software for editing PDF files, though the choices are much more limited and often more expensive than creating and editing standard editable document formats. Version 0.46 and later of Inkscape allows PDF editing through an intermediate translation step involving Poppler.
Serif PagePlus can open, edit and save existing PDF documents, as well as publishing of documents created in the package.
Enfocus PitStop Pro, a plugin for Acrobat, allows manual and automatic editing of PDF files, while the free Enfocus Browser makes it possible to edit the low-level structure of a PDF.
In Acrobat you should use the TouchUp Text Tool.
But in the end, PDF-files are not made for editing.

  • How do I make Photoshop the default Edit App for .jpg in Windows 7?

How do I make Photoshop the default Edit App for .jpg in Windows 7?    I want to be able to right click on a .jpg file, select the EDIT option in the Context Menu, then have Photoshop edit the file instead of Paint.
In Windows XP it was very easy to use the File Manger to associate the file type .jpg and action edit with Photoshop.    No so easy in Windows 7.  It is easy to change the default OPEN application, but I would like to leave Windows Viewer as the default OPEN application and have Photoshop as the EDIT applicaiton.

Before I posted the original question here, I had probably spent a couple of hours trying to research it.   I hate to find no answer for something I know can be done.   So I spent some more time and found the following in the bowels of a Tech Forum that is generally way over my head.  I have modified it to be Photoshop specific.
These instructions will update the default EDIT action for image types - jpg, png, gif and the variations.     If you are unfamiliar with editing the program registry you probably will want to back up your registry or take a system backup.
    1. Open up the registry editor (Regedit.exe).
You will need to be signed on as a Windows user that is an administrator
    2. Find HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT -> SystemFileAssociations -> image ->  shell -> edit -> command
This seems like it would be easy but it is not, because there are many key names that are very close (like System.FilesAssociations).   Keep looking because you will find it eventually.
    3. Double click on "Default" (on right window pane) and update the program location.
You should see that MSPAINT.EXE is the current program.
Erase the existing value and enter you photoshop location in quotes followed by %1 in quotes.  For me this is "C:\Program Files  (x86)\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CS4\Photoshop.exe" "%1"
    Hit return.
    4.  Exit Regit and test.

  • How do I edit the text in a PDF

I have a PDF document written by someone else. Using Adobe Pro X, how do I erase the text and replace it with new text?. I don't want to edit anything but the text (leaving all photos and graphs intact). Basically, the document is written in German and I wanto do through the document and replace all German text with the English translations. I am new to Adobe and I just can't figure this out. Thank you for your help.

As PDF is not a "word processing" format heavy editing such as you describe has a high probability of damaging the PDF.
While the TouchUp Text tool supports minor "touch ups" it is not designed to support word processor like content editing.
Regarding removal of PDF page content. You can use the Redaction tool for that.
Read the Help topics on this so as to use the tool properly (if you want full removal of the selected content).
You might consider use of the Text Edit feature - this supports cross-out of selected text and has an associated pop-up into which you could enter the English.
Regardless, consider making "work" copies of the original PDF as, again, more than minor "touch up" can (and often does) result in making a PDF unusable.
    Be well...

How do I edit a document already in PDF format in adobe?

    Thank you Niel.
Yes I do have a smiley face and I've clicked on it and opened a window with lots of things in it, incuding Documents.
I've opened Documents and in it I can see the title I want to rename. When I click on it, it highlights, but I can't see where to go to change its name. If I double click it opens.
    Thanks for your help.

  • Group of documents from .jpg to .pdf?

I need some help. I scanned 91 pages of documents and saved them in a folder on my desktop. The pages were scanned into my computer as .jpg and i need to send them as .pdf in an email. the file sizes are abnormally big too; each "picture" is about 1.7 MB! I tried to use Preview to open the .jpg and "save as" a .pdf but when i did that, it ended up turning it into a .pdf but with taking up the same amount of space. I tried to compress them but with no avail. i would have to send like 20 emails even with compressing them in groups of 5. There must be an easier way to send all of them at once, compressed, and in .pdf format. Please, can anyone help?

Now that you mention it, I just checked the jpg and pdf I used for a test and the pdf is slightly larger.
Even the compressed pdf I made is larger than the jpg.
If the jpg is actually text, then unless you OCR it, it won't compress much since it is really all graphics, including the text. In the pdf format, the text is not real pdf text which is why it won't compress.
Even zipping it does not make it smaller.
I would say that the files are about as dense as they can get. The only way to make them smaller would be to convert them to a lower res graphic.

  • Emailing a jpg or pdf file as an attachment

I have been emailed both a jpg and pdf file that I want to send attached to an email. The email box pops up with the file in the attachment box, then it won't send.

Have you upgraded to Yosemite?  Then you could send the attachment using Mail Drop.
You can use Mail Drop to send files that exceed the maximum size allowed by the provider of your email account. Mail Drop uploads the large attachments to iCloud, where they’re encrypted and stored for up to 30 days.
If you have an iCloud account and you’re signed in to iCloud when you click Send, Mail automatically sends the attachments using Mail Drop. Mail Drop attachments don’t count against your iCloud storage.
If you don’t have an iCloud account, or if you’re not signed in, Mail asks you whether to use Mail Drop (select “Don’t ask again for this account” to always use Mail Drop).
If a recipient uses Mail in OS X Yosemite, the attachments are automatically downloaded and included in your message just like any other attachment. For other recipients, your message includes links for downloading the attachments and their expiration date.
You can turn Mail Drop on or off for an account. Choose Mail > Preferences, click Accounts, select your account, click Advanced, then select or deselect “Send large attachments with Mail Drop.”

  • Converting jpgs to pdf, combine and upload

I want to convert about 90 JPGs into PDFs, combine them into a single PDF and then upload them. Would welcome some basic advice. I know about PDFLab but not sure how to convert them into PDFs first.
    Many thanks,
    Michael, London

You can do that easily with Apple's Preview program.
Open one of the .jpg files in Preview. Click the "Sidebar" button in the toolbar to show the sidebar. Drag all the other .jpgs into the sidebar. Drag them into the order you want. Select them all in the sidebar, select File -> Print, click the PDF button, and choose Save As PDF.
