Edition WOW64 Platform Error on Widnows 7
Hi,
I am trying to install the SQL server Express Edition 2008 R2. but, I am getting the error "Edition WOW64 Platfrom - Failed". I am using the setup file "SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU", which has been downloaded MS.
Below are my system details.
OS : Win7 Ultimate 64-bit
CPU : Core i5, Second Generation
RAM : 8GB
Free Space in HDD : About 60 GB
I guess, I don't have any problem with machine SPECS, but only with installation media.
Can any one help me ??
Hello,
Could you please try to extract the content of the SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU to a local folder and run setup
from there using the following command:
SQLEXPR32_x86_ENU /x:C:\Tempo
Where Tempo is a folder created on the root of the C:\ drive.
Please disable any security suite or antivirus software.
Hope this helps.

Alberto Morillo

"Unsupported platform" error message while installing J2EE ref impl
Hi,
OS of my m/c is windows 2000. I downloaded the windows version of Sun Java System Application Server Platform Edition 8.1 2005Q1. When I tried to install this executable then "Unsupported platform" error messge is reported with a warning that aplication may not behave properly after installation.
Please suggest the remedy.
Thanks,
HariWhat is the SP level of that system? Installer will issue this message if SP2 or higher is not installed on the Windows 2000 system. So, one way to resolve this is to install current SP.
As for the remedy, this is just a warning - you can still choose to proceed with installation when this screen shows up and everything is likely to be fine even if you don't update the system. -
Received Platform error, process stuck in Trace?
On Friday, one of my linux 2.6.11 systems running JRockit triggered a "platform error." After receiving the error, one of the processes is stuck in Trace mode (as reflected by top, ps, etc), which means none of the processes will die using "kill" either (which means the system won't cleanly reboot).
The error was:

If I see this again, what's the best way to remedy it?When a process dies its parent gets a notification. However, the parent
must explicitly poll for this notification using wait().
If a process (JRockit) dies and its parent (whatever) doesn't do wait(),
the JRockit process will become "zombie". This means that the process
won't ever do anything else, but it doesn't go away either. It won't go
away until the parent wait()s for it or the parent dies.
If by "traced" you mean that JRockit's process state is "T", it means
somebody (most probably gdb or strace) has called ptrace() on JRockit.
That turns the ptrace() caller into JRockit's parent. And JRockit won't
go away until the parent either dies or calls wait().
So next time (if there is one), try killing JRockit's parent process.
That said, I have seen cases where zombie processes have init (the first
process) for parent, and I don't have any explanation for that.
Also, if JRockit turns the whole system to mush, that's (at least) the
kernel's fault. The kernel shouldn't let that happen under any
circumstances, regardless of what JRockit does (either by design or by
being broken).

The "not responding to -9" was definitely weird. I would expect the system to not respond to signals very quickly in a high load situation, but it's strange that after I passed many signals of differing value (ending with 23) that it suddenly died. It had sat for about 12 hours after severla -9s before I got around to passing the sequential signals to it.
I have seen OutOfMemoryErrors and other inside-the-JVM problems and been able to send -9 signals, so it was definitely related to the state the "Platform Error" put the system in.
Thanks for your thoughts -- I've asked a few other linux people out there for theirs as well and so far come up with nothing other than "must have been coincidence that it responded to -9 at the same time I was passing other signals" :)
Also, I am testing and then planning on migrating to 1.5.0_02, but since this is the first time I've seen the issue, I don't expect to see it again. If the system does reproduce the issue in a timely fashion, I'll update the JVM and see if that resolves the strangeness. -
windows vista system, continuously trying to download a DRM file in Adobe Digital Editions application shows "Error check activation". I have authorized the Fire Wall and still the same.
Since Re-activation as suggested by the link above is not working for you, Can you please confirm the following:
The OperatorURL is reachable. ( you can find the operatorURL from the acsm file by opening it in notepad, etc)
And Book is still available on the book-store for purchase.
(If any of first two are not available, you might have to talk to distributor for next action item to get the book. Since you will have record of purchasing the book, (in my opinion) they should provide you the new token for downloading the book)
And please confirm this that you used the same userID for downloading that you used when you first fulfilled/downloaded the book.
(If it is the case, then you have to use the correct userID)
I hope it helps. -

I'm creating a DLL on a Red Hat flavor of linux. However when i'm
running into the error "Unknown Linux platform" from
platdefines.h. I don't know why its throwing this error or idea
of how to fix this problem. If anyone could help it will be
greatly appriciated.Hello Mess88,
I noticed in your first post you mentioned that you are trying to create a
DLL. I would assume that you are actually trying to create .so file as
Linux is unable to handle DLLs. I noticed that LabVIEW will still have a
default name of My DLL but it will actually be a .so file.
After looking through the platdefines.h file I was able
to determine the section that yields this error:
#if defined(i386)
#define ProcessorType
kX86
#define NI_BIG_ENDIAN
0
#elif defined(__alpha)
#define ProcessorType
kDECAlpha

So it looks like it checks to see the type of processor that you have and if
it is not one of the types listed in the "if else" statements then it
will eventually get to the "Unknown Linux Platform" error. Can
you verify what processor you are using?
Also, is this the first time that you have tried to implement a solution
like this before? Did it ever work in the past or would you get this
error no matter what you tried to do. Please just let me know if you have
any further questions! I hope this helps!
Thanks!

Adobe Digital Editions - Activation server error
I have Adobbe Digital Editions 2.0 on my dekstop computer. I am trying to authorize it (Ctrl-Shift-U), but for the past two weeks I have been getting this as an error message:
Activation server error
code: E_AUTH_NOT_READY
Digital Editions encountered an error on the activation server.
I have tried setting up new Adobe IDs and have even tried uninstalling and then reinstalling Adobe Digital Editions.I had a similar problem and this worked for me (the IE assistance came from a helpful person in the forum)
uninstall ALL versions of Adobe digital editions (I tried v1.7, 2 and 3!)
use INTERNET EXPLORER to download ADE v 3.
DISABLE windows firewall BEFORE installing ADE3.
Install ADE 3 and I found I could then aauthorize my computer using help>authorize computer in the ADE menu.
Re-download e-book (because previous downloads had expired), and I was able to open my ebook. -
JDev 11g update 1 base edition on windows: error building default domain
Hi all,
(refer to [url http://forums.oracle.com/forums/thread.jspa?messageID=3168105]here for original post)
I'm posting this again with some more information. When downloading the Studio Edition (Base - no JDK) version of JDeveloper 11g update 1, an error occurs upon first (and each subsequent) startup of JDeveloper (error details below).
Tests that I have done:
1). Install using JDK 6 u 11 - JDK did not show up automatically in the installer, had to browse to find it and select it. Running using 6u11, 6u10, and 6u7 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs.
2). Install using JDK 6 u7 - JDK was automatically found by the installer. Running using 6u7, 6u11, and 6u10 (deleting the system directory after each try) - error occurs
These errors do not occur when using the Windows installer. For information: my machine is Windows 2008 Server Standard 32-bit. An update - I just tried this on a Vista 64-bit laptop (running Sun 32-bit JDK 6u10) and did not have the problem. Ergo, this seems to be an issue with the JDK and detecting Windows 2008 as a Windows platform (or possibly with whatever mechanism JDev/WLS is using to detect the OS platform). I'll do more research on that and update if I find anything.
One more update: I didn't find any issues reported like this related to Windows 2008, but I did one more test: install and run JDeveloper using:
java version "1.6.0_05"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment (build 1.6.0_05-b13)
BEA JRockit(R) (build R27.6.0-50_o-100423-1.6.0_05-20080626-2105-windows-ia32, compiled mode) The issue does not occur using this JDK. So to summarize, installing JDev 11g update 1 Studio edition, base installer using any of the SUN JDK's on Windows 2008 gives this problem. Using the windows installer or JRockit Mission Control JVM - no problems.
Finally, one last update - the error is related to the JVM that is used to install, not the one used to run JDeveloper (via editing jdev.conf) - the offending JDK is in wlserver_10.3\common\bin\commEnv.cmd. Seems like a no-no to have one JDK running JDev and another running the integrated WLS, though. Quite a pity, as JDev starts up pretty slowly using JRockit Mission Control.
JRockit Realtime seems to be a bit faster... sigh - now to remove the 72 extra JDK's on my laptop ;)
My going forward plan: use the Windows installer. Wish I never installed Windows Server 2008.

Siebel Applet edit weblayout giving error in Windows 8
Hi All,
I have installed siebel 8.1.1.10 in windows 8. When i try to edit applet weblayout it is giving below error:
Siebel
This editor requires Microsoft Internet Explorer version 5 to be installed
siebdev
Failed to create empty document.
OK
Please help me to resolve this. This sounds like the Platform Services service (the "Endeca HTTP Service" that runs port 8888) isn't up and running.
From a command line, you can try
net start "Endeca HTTP Service"
To test, you can try http://localhost:8888/endeca_jspref and see if the reference app at least loads up. Then try initializing again. -
Can't Edit AutoCAD Drawings (Error 1415)
I like to copy AutoCAD drawings directly from AutoCAD model space and paste them into Visio. Usually I can edit the drawing in AutoCAD by double clicking on the drawing in Visio. However, certain drawings keep giving me the "1415" error
stating that is is unable to open the drawing. Sometimes the drawings open, but most times they don't. I have resaved the drawings in older versions of AutoCAD to make sure this wasn't a compatibility issue. Is there a way to fix this error?
ThanksHi,
Based on my research, if we choose to do a custom installation of Microsoft Visio with all Add-ons marked as "install on first use", and attempt to edit an embedded AutoCad
(CAD) object, the error message may appear.
In order to display and work with inserted AutoCad (CAD) objects in Microsoft Visio,
we must install the CAD Drawing component.
Following the steps to do so:
Click
Start menu, click Control Panel.
Click
Programs and Features.
Select
Microsoft Visio Premium 2010, and then click
Change.
Click
Add or Remove Features, then click
Continue.
Expand
Microsoft Visio, Add-ons
(US units)
by clicking the plus sign.
Click
CAD Drawing.
Click
Run from My Computer.
Click
Continue.

Unable to Edit View; Java Error then View is lost
I need help understanding what might be going wrong and how to fix it, or file a bug and then work around the problem.
Running SQL Developer 3.0.04,
Java - should be using jdk 1.6.0_23, but I'm not sure how to verify this. I also don't know how to change which of the different Javas on my PC SQL Developer would use, if I gave the wrong answer when I installed SQL Develoeper.
Windows 7 64-bit and 32-bit.
DB is 9i, 9.2.0.6.0.
Server is Linux 2.6.9-89.0.20.EL.xs5.6.0.58xenU.
Problem does not occur on DB 11.1.0.7.0 running on same server.
The problem occurs when I select a view, and click edit. Edit View panel opens. One easy change that causes the problem is to click the Select clause and simply reorder the columns, moving one column up. The syntax checks OK. The test query works OK. When I click the panel's OK button, I get a new window: Edit Object Error.
An error was encountered:
java.sql.SQLRecoverableException: No more data to read from socket
The following SQL statement failed:
[then there's a box with the CREATE FORCE VIEW statement.]
I click OK acknowledging the error. I get another Edit Object Error window, with the same message about the socket, but this time the failing SQL statement is DROP VIEW PV_MYVIEW_NAME. After acknowledging this error by clicking OK, it reappears if I click OK for the Edit View panel. I am forced to click Cancel in the Edit View panel.
The connection goes inactive. If I try to expand the tree of tables and views, the + signs go away. They don't expand. I need to disconnect and connect.
My view is now gone.
I tried lots of changes to the view, even adding a comment causes the failure.
The Logging Page has entries like these:

Thanks,
SkipHi Anne,
Well, given your OS configuration, suggestion (2) probably doesn't apply to you anyway. Sorry if I wasted your time on that one.
As for suggestion (1), even if it didn't work, at least it seems to verify that this is a JDBC driver issue. So, as noted above, SQL Developer 3.0 is not certified on 9i. And Oracle 9i Extended Support ended the middle of last year. The ojdbc5.jar/ojdbc6.jar (11.1/11.2 drivers) files shipped with the 2.1/3.0 releases, respectively, can generally connect to any Oracle database back to 9.0.1, but perhaps the functionality is not completely stable when using the oldest database releases.
The main question though, is which JDBC driver are you actually using? If you have an Oracle client installed, SQL Developer will look in the Oracle home first and use the driver there, not what comes with SQL Developer. If you do have an Oracle client installed, and everything else (Prod/Dev) is working, then I hesitate recommending that you change anything. Possibly if you have no client, or an older client, installing a 10.2 client might help but it's difficult to know.
Best wishes,
Gary
