Edits don't export to flickr/facebook

To elaborate, I'm on Mac OS Mavericks with PSE-10. I can upload to both flickr and facebook, but it uploads the original (.CR2) file. When exporting to Flickr/Facebook, my photos show up as originals, not the edited version, even though the edited version appears in my PSE-10 organizer window. What am I doing wrong? The edits were simple; photos opened in the "white window" (to adjust color, exposure), then clicked "done" to return to the organizer, where they appear in edited form.  However, when I export from the organizer to flickr or facebook, the unedited version appeared on those sites. This is most noticeable in a night-shot, where I adjusted the color from 5050 to 3200 to cool the picture. Any help/suggestion is appreciated.

I am guessing here but I suspect that option has been removed as Apple have discontimued iWem and dont want to provide an  iWeb function.
Im unable to comment on HTML export as its working for me, but I have not upgraded to the latest version due to the amount of problems it is causing users.

There is no export to Flicker/Facebook in Photoshop perhaps you have Photoshop Elements. Element may have a feature like that. Ask your question in that forum Photoshop Elements

  • Edits don't show if the photo is exported as DNG

When I make edits (such as spot healing or cloning) in Lightroom and export the photo to another directory as DNG, those edits don't show - the image opens in Camera RAW and the removed blemishes are still there. On the other hand, if I export as JPEG, all of those edits are included. Am I doing something wrong or is this the way it is supposed to be?

I may be incorrect on this but, as I understand it (and I am depending on other more knowledgeable people to correct me if I am wrong), when you export a JPEG image, LR will back your changes, stored in the catalog, into the exported image. However, when you export a RAW image, even as a DNG, LR will export the changes, also stored in the catalog, in a sidecar (.XMP) file. LR will never update the RAW file as these are proprietary files structure and not documented as to their internal structure. When you export a RAW file, check the directory to see if there is a .xmp file with the same name as the .dng file. This is where your edits will be. Keep in mid that not all external editors will recognize the sidecar files. Photoshop and Elements do however.
There is an option to 'write metadata to files' on the Metadata menu. If you click this, LR will write the changes stored in the catalog into your image file for JPEG, TIFF and DNG files. For a RAW image however, these updates are only written to a sidecar file. I import my RAW images as DNG files and when i am done with edits and/or metadata changes, I will use the write-to-file option to update the images with the changes. This way, I am sure that no matter where I copy these images files, my edits and metadata also go along for the ride. This is what works for me but may not be another's cup of tea.

  • Photo editing doesn't show in emails, facebook, etc...

Whenever I attach my pictures to emails or export them to facebook or things like that any of the editing I do won't show up. The only thing that shows up is the cropping. Is there a way to change this?

AH! This is my problem as well! When I set the mouse over "Done" and "->" they both say "save changes; move to next photo" and none of those changes ever show up in Facebook albums. It's frustrating without a "Save"! Is "Done" the only way to save editing?

  • I use Adobe lightroom to export images to Facebook - I am now getting error message related to this process address not understood- how to correct?

I am using Win & Home edition / Mozilla Firefox on my HP laptop. On Oct 8 I used Lightroom to export images to Facebook. Now when I try to repeat this, authentication fails as The address wasn't understood
Firefox doesn't know how to open this address, because one of the following protocols (lightroom) isn't associated with any program or is not allowed in this context.
The export process was working, but isn't now. I have ben having problems with Firefox - I wasn't able to retain the settings for opening with my own Homepage (kept going back to Firefox default. So I have done a reset. Seems that this has somehow disrupted the authentication process. Can you help please.

I just dropped into the forums to see if other people were getting the DVD burning verification error (Error code 0x80020063). I've been holding off on the Tiger to Leopard upgrade until very recently. All of my must-have apps were anecdotally stable and I was under the impression that 10.5 was too. Apparently reliable DVD burning is Tiger only, at least on my systems.
We've been burning Taiyo Yuden DVD's almost daily with Tiger with incredibly low failure rates. After what seemed to be a smooth upgrade of a Mac Pro tower & 2 MacBook Pro laptops (one is a Core Duo and the other is a Core 2 Duo) I've spent the entire afternoon troubleshooting until I ended up here. Some searching on the board leads me to conclude that this will be a bigger headache than I imagined.
I've done all the obvious stuff (varied the burn speed, moved the files to a different drive, reset PRAM & SMC, used a different account, deleted finder.plist, tried repairing the system with DU on the Leopard install disc and then I tried burning on different computers with different media). What I'm finding is that over 50% of my DVD's are throwing the error code during verification across 3 different models all running Leopard 10.5.2. CD burning seems to work as before (but we don't use this as much so ?). I saw that some people had posted that closing the finder window helped, but that didn't improve my overall failure rate. The DVD's appear (indentical byte size and item numbers) to be burned correctly and usable, but I need to be sure so I can't trust them.
We need reliable DVD burning for our business and this is a real problem. I was going to trudge over to the Apple store, but it doesn't sound like there's a real fix yet.

    Hi Ashley Clavette,
The Initial view setting works perfectly when the file is opened in Acrobat after setting the desired Initial View.
When you upload the file onto Wordpress, and view it on that website in the browser...it might be using a different pdf handler program which might be causing this issue ( it would be helpful, if you could provide the screenshot) , however when you download the pdf again from wordpress server...and open in Acrobat/Reader...then what  exactly happens ?  Does the pdf opens in the desired Initial View setting?

I'm experiencing the same problem. Don't think I can help, but maybe I can offer an explanation. It looks as if Flickr has changed their API and Adobe will need to update the export plugin to comply to get it working again. I found this announcement on Flickr:

  • My version of LR-5.7 (OS X 10.8.5) apparently does not save the .NEF (Nikon RAW) edits done in the basic module.

My version of LR-5.7 (OS X 10.8.5) apparently does not save the .NEF (Nikon RAW) edits done in the basic module. That means that I can correct exposure, highlights, shadows etc. but once I go to another picture and returned to the edited one the histogram (on the edited photo) and specifically the clipping triangles are white or some other color. This is normally suppose to indicate that some channel or all channels are clipped in the highlight/shadow areas. If I adjust any slider in the Basic panel even as little as one +/- value or press the J-key, the histogram will now show the original edit. Moving on to another photo and then returning to to previously edited one and again the edits are "not saved" and I have to hit the J-key or adjust a slider to see the previously edited information reflected in the histogram.
This is especially frustrating for fours reasons. If I have edited a shoot and return to it I cannot see from the clipping information whether the original edit was correct and of course I might re-edit it (to some now incorrect value). This brings up the second issue synchronization. I can't rely on it because if I go back to fine tune a specific image in the batch the triangles are white or some other color for that and every image. I have to hit the J-key to show/hide clipping or the back slash key to see before/after previews. This is the third issue which is very time consuming and inefficient regarding my workflow. The forth issue is that I have noticed that normally when an image is saved in PS, LR adds a copy of the saved version to its catalogue. I have noticed that the PS to LR saves are all wrong in terms of exposure (they are much lighter in tone) than the original LR edit and the PS edit on my screen. If I check the PS to LR photo in LR I notice that the Basic panel values have been changed and that I have to sync the image with the originally edited RAW/NEF LR file to get it to look the same.
Note 1). I am using an Apple cinema display and a calibrated Eizo ColorEdge monitor to view my NEF files. I have reverted back to using LR 4 however I am not sure if I should expect compatibility problems with Camera Raw 7.4 in LR 4 vs. Camera Raw 8.6 in LR 5.
Note 2.) I am going to do an import converting everything to .dng  to see if this is a work around.
Note 3). I would be interested in knowing if this issue is related to the PS RAW engine ver. 8.6, the Adobe created NEF calibrations or LR 5.
    Note 4). I have duplicated this issue in OS X 10.8.5, OS X 9.xx and OS X 10.10.1
Hopefully someone else has noticed this problem. Any shared information would be valuable. Thanks for the reply.

    Happy New Year!
The Develop panel Tone settings in your Dec 31 screenshot show both the Highlights and Shadows controls set to negative values (-48 and -19). For most images (such as this model shot) they should be set to opposite values (-Highlights and +Shadows). To try and duplicate your issue I used negative values for both of these controls with a similar high contrast image. I noticed that the Shadows control becomes non-linear when both the Highlights and Shadows controls are set to negative values. As I moved the Shadows control from a positive value the Shadows clipping indicator comes ON as expected. Moving the Shadows control to a value caused the clipping indicator to turn OFF and moving it further negative caused it to turn back ON again.
The following screenshots demonstrate the issue with only Highlights & Shadows controls applied as shown.
The Highlights & Shadows controls set just to the threshold of extinguishing the clipping indicators.
Moving the Shadows control toward negative causes the Shadow clipping indicator to come ON (as expected), but at-13 it goes OFF again!
Moving the Shadows control further negative causes the Shadows clipping indicator to come back ON at -33.
This is probably normal behavior for the PV2012 Image Adaptive Tone controls as they were not designed to be used way (- - or ++ Highlights & Shadows). The PV2012 Tone controls all interact with each other, which is why it is suggested to adjust them from the Top down starting with Exposure. For most images using -Highlights and +Shadows of near equal value produces good results.
I still can't duplicate the change in clipping indicators after selecting another image, so it may be unique to certain camera models and/or lighting conditions.
    SUGGESTION
Try one of the image files that exhibits this issue using the following PV2102 Tone control adjustment procedure:
Start with all of the Tone controls at their default 0 settings and adjust them from the top-down in the order shown below.
Set Exposure to correct midtone brightness ignoring the highlight and shadow areas for now. Setting Exposure slightly higher (+.25 to +.50 EV) than what looks correct for the midtones seems to work best with most images.
Leave Contrast at 0 for now. It’s usually better to adjust this after the first pass.
Adjust Highlights so that blown out areas are recovered and “fine tonal detail” is revealed.
Adjust Shadows to reveal fine detail in dark areas. For most normal images simply setting +Shadows = -Highlights (Example +50 and -50) works very well.
The Whites control sets the white clipping point, which you can see by holding down the ALT key as you move the slider. Adjust it to the point where you see clipping appear with the ALT key.
The Blacks control sets the black clipping point, which you can see by holding down the ALT key as you move the slider. Adjust it to the point where you see clipping appear with the ALT key.
Now go back and adjust the Contrast control to establish the best midtone contrast
If necessary “touch-up” the controls using the same top-down workflow.
If the issue persists I suggest Exporting an image to DNG file format with the settings that exhibit the issue and post it to Dropbox or other file download site.

  • Crossfades don't export smoothly

    Hi everyone,
I've got a large multi-track edit of a pipe organ recording. We've edited the piece with cross-fading different takes to make one succinct song. I've found though that once I'm satisfied with my cross-fades, they don't always playback smoothly in a consistent manner. I've found also that they don't export well. When I play a two-track mix of the piece for CD, the edits either don't play smoothly or they have little clicks and pops in them.
Is it a latency issue? Any suggestions as to how to get these to export play smoothly?
Your immediate assistance is greatly appreciated as we need to get a master out quickly for an event.
    Message was edited by: HomeVideoStudio

No, they're each a second long or so. The timeline is merely zoomed out all the way out to show all the edits, which are crossfades into another take.
The creation of the crossfades are not the problem. Playing back the file is typically fine, the problem is exporting the mix. When the multitrack is mixed down to stereo, these transitions are very audible (clicks, pops, etc.) instead of the seamless transitions they should be.
Anyone know why this wouldn't export smoothly over these crossfades? It's never been a problem in Digital Performer or ProTools.
Your urgent response is appreciated. We've got to wrap-up this project.

  • Aperture 3.1 - Mobileme - Flickr - Facebook

Hi, I just upgraded to Aperture 3.1 and pleased to find all my galleries for Flickr and Facebook listed, and not just the one's created in Aperture. But for mobileme, there is still a mismatch: just the ones created in mobileme are listed in Aperture. Is this a bug, by design, or what? Not even sure why all the flickr/facebook galleries mysteriously showed up, as before 3.1, it was just the ones created in Aperture that were listed. Huh?
    thx,
    coocoo

Came how from work, decided to do a test.
Existing Facebook albums created in Aperture 3.0.x will re-size to 720 pix wide, you have to do slight "trick".
Click on crop in the FB album inside Aperture, just touch the handles and hit enter.
Aperture will re-size to 720 pix. Not the easiest but if you have certain picts you want larger this is one way to make it work.

Why do I loose some of my iphoto editing when I export the photo or send it out to Facebook or email?

No information given so we can only guess
You are doing it incorrectly - to properly export select the photo(s) an use the file menu ==> export to a deaktop folder  --  to e-mail either set up the desired e-mail client in the iPhoto preferences and share via e-mail, export as above, use Apple Mail and use the media browser or in teh e-mail attach window lok in the lower left hand corner under media ==> photos ==> iPhoto and select teh photo

  • Why my edits don't transfer between lr4 and cs4

I edit my images for the most part in LR4 then export as a raw file into a new folder. Then when I view the images in bridge my edits don't show up. Do I have to convert to JPEG for my edits to stick?
    Thank you!!!

    Victoria Bampton wrote:
The short answer is yes.  CS4 won't understand the edits you've done in LR4, because it's so much older.  You'd need CS6 for PS to understand them.
The original question asked about JPGs. The user could convert the photos to TIF, avoiding the drawbacks of JPGs, which would then work in CS4.

  • Question rgd Jeffrey's Export-to-Flickr Lightroom Plugin

    Hi.
I stumbled across this plug-in in Scott Kelby's LR2 book, thought it was a cool feature, and was about to install it when I came across this:
"By authorizing this link, you'll allow Jeffrey's Export-to-Flickr Lightroom Plugin to:
Access your Flickr account (including private content)
Upload, Edit, and Replace photos and videos in your account
Interact with other members' photos and videos (comment, add notes, favorite)
Delete photos and videos from your account"
Is this really so? By adding this plugging I will give this Jeffrey access to delete my Flickr photos?
I'd really like to know before installing this thing.
    Thanks in advance,
    ole k

    I guess I was a bit confused by reading: "By authorizing this link, you'll allow Jeffrey's Export-to-Flickr Lightroom Plugin to: . . . . .
Delete photos and videos from your account", as if the plug-in sort of would have a life on its own and start deleting my files. Which, I see now, was not the case. See also my other two replies to this thread.
As for Flickr to delete (among other things) my files, I'm really not that worried, as I am an amateur with little or nothing to lose. It was the idea of having this 3-part program interfering with my photos which scared me off a bit, along with the fact that I only yesterday encounterd another LR plugin - from Adobes/Scott Kelbys site, which included two trojans. But it all seems sorted out now.
    Thanks,
    ole k

  • Anyone having issues exporting to flickr via LR3.6 on OS Lion?

I saw the update for LR 3.6 came out and did my upgrade yesterday. After I finished working on my files, I attempted to export my photos to my flickr account via the built in export tool for Flickr in Lightroom. However, after about 5 photos in, the process crashes out, burps out a strange looking XML like error message, and returns me to my grid photo screen. After two more attempts to export out my files, I decided to exit out and downgrade to 3.5.  Thankfully on the Mac, I can just load up the 3.5 updater and it overwrite the 3.6 files. After that I downgraded, my flickr exports and other operations went on as I expected.
Has anyone else seen this issue when exporting to flickr or to facebook?

I was able to capture the error message:
    An internal error has occurred: Error Domain=NSXMLParserErrorDomain Code=4 "zero length data" UserInfo=0x117157810 {NSLocalizedDescription=zero length data}
Anyone know why this is happening?

  • Cant edit photos after exporting

Hello all. Relatively new to Lightroom here so Im not sure if this is a dumb question or not.
I imported about 220 photos and worked on just about 20 to 25 of them. I then selected those 25 from my collection and exported them to a folder on my PC so I could then import them into Picasa.
After doing that, I returned to Lightroom to edit more from that collection but could no longer do so. I couldnt make any changes to the ones I previously worked on, but more importantly, I couldnt make any changes to any of the ones I hadnt even touched yet. When you export photos from a folder, does Lightroom automatically prohibit you from changing anything else? It seems the only way I can bypass this problem is just to delete the folder and re-import the photos from my camera again, creating a new folder.
Am I missing something? How can I go back and edit photos after exporting? Can it be done?
    Thanks!

    Hi Judy
On the bottom left of the left tool bar there are two buttons. Import and Export. I exported my photos using the Export button. When you do that, the screen that comes up prompts you to set up an export location on your C drive. So I exported the photos to a folder I set up.
I did not set up a catalogue or export any catalogue.
I seriously doubt that Picasa had any effect on the folders in Lightroom. The two software application are totally separate. You dont directly transfer photos from LR to Picasa. You need to export from LR first to a location on your PC then Import from that file on your PC into LR. So I dont see how Picasa could effect the photos that are in LR.
