Edits to photos do not save

After I make edits (of any kind, be it cropping, enhancing, etc.) and hit "Done" the edits and changes do not save. The edited version disappears and the photo reverts to original. I've had this Mac for over a year and never experienced this with any photos downloaded from my camera (which is also the same camera I've had for over a year).

I have version 6.0.6. Is it free to download version 7?
No you have the latest free upgrade to your version of iPhoto - version 6 - version 7 is part of the iLife '08 package which can be purchased here - BUT it is better to upgrade a working system - your problem is probably not an iPhoto program problem
Try rebuilding your library - quit iPhoto, backup your iPhoto library and launch iPhoto while depressing the option (alt) and command (apple) keys and rebuild your library

    Use iPhoto. What's the problem with iPhoto import? It's a two clicks job. Select your device and click import.

  • My edited Raw photos won't save from CS6 back to iPhoto?

    When I transfer a raw file via "edit in external editor" from iPhoto11 to CS6 and then edit it, I choose "Save", not "Save as", but then "Save As" dialogue box appears and I can't seem to enter anything that will result in the edited (now) jpeg appearing back in the iPhoto Library? Where am I going wrong?

    Always flatten the image in Photoshop before saving.
    Using Photoshop or Photoshop Elements as Your Editor of Choice in iPhoto.
    1 - select Photoshop or Photoshop Elememts as your editor of choice in iPhoto's General Preference Section's under the "Edit photo:" menu.
    2 - double click on the thumbnail in iPhoto to open it in Photoshop.  When you're finished editing click on the Save button. If you immediately get the JPEG Options window make your selection (Baseline standard seems to be the most compatible jpeg format) and click on the OK button. Your done.
    3 - however, if you get the navigation window
    that indicates that  PS wants to save it as a PS formatted file.  You'll need to either select JPEG from the menu and save (top image) or click on the desktop in the Navigation window (bottom image) and save it to the desktop for importing as a new photo.
    This method will let iPhoto know that the photo has been editied and will update the thumbnail file to reflect the edit..
    NOTE: With Photoshop Elements  the Saving File preferences should be configured as shown:
    I also suggest the Maximize PSD File Compatabilty be set to Always.  In PSE’s General preference pane set the Color Picker to Apple as shown:
    Note:  to switch between iPhoto and PS or PSE as the editor of choice Control (right)-click on the thumbnail and select either Edit in iPhoto or Edit in External Editor from the contextual menu. If you use iPhoto to edit more than PSE re-select iPhoto in the iPhoto General preference pane. Then iPhoto will be the default editor and you can use the contextual menu to select PSE for your editor when desired.

  • Photos will not save after iOS4 upgrade

    As subject says; wife's 3GS was upgraded. Did a full restore (wipe clean) then synced the backup after installation.
    Not an issue with existing camera roll pics. Those are fine.
    Camera will take pictures....you can then close the camera app, and picture is in camera roll.
    If you choose the pic you have just taken (to MMS, email) an "photos saving" message will appear and never leave. The only way to get out of this is to shut the phone off completely. Upon turning the phone back on, the photo is not in the camera roll.
    If you take a picture, close the camera app, open the camera roll, the picture is there. Shutting the phone off (either by hard reset or using the lock button) then turning the phone back on....no picture.
    I've restored twice, and resynced the backup twice. Same result.
    My iPhone 3GS is having no issues...so you can imagine the glares that I get because I have messed up her phone....
    Thanks to all who reply.

    After reading and learning more about iPhone backups than I ever thought I would...here is how I (with the help of others) solved this.
    -copied all photos and videos from camera roll using the Image capture
    -prepared a backup copy of wife's iOS 3.13
    -deleted all iOS 4 backups I had of wife's phone
    -restored phone to new with iOS 4
    -did not restore phone with backup of iOS 3
    After all of this....I deleted everything in the old 3.13 backup except the info.plist, manifest, etc files AND the files attributed to the stuff wife did not want to lose (contacts, SMS)
    -then, connected phone, instructed itunes to restore a backup...pointed it to the 3.1.3 folder that I had edited...it only had 7 files in it.
    -it restored this "backup" so wife had contacts and sms.
    -after this, resynced all her apps, media, photos, etc.
    She lost her settings and data for individual apps, but retained what data was necessary.
    After all this...what had happened was her iOS 3.1.3 backups kept getting corrupted...and this was going to continue unless a different approach was taken. All of these steps came from various postings on other forums.

  • Photos will not save after upgrade to iOS 7

    Hi!
    My iPhone 5 will not save the photos I take with the camera, or other apps.
    After I take it and goes to the Camera Roll, there is nothing there.
    This was not an issue with the iOS 6. And the settings are the same.
    Everything is ok in Settings-Privacy-Photos. And in Settings-General-Privacy everything is Allowed.
    Does anyone else have this problem?

    You have to download the proper ipsw file again: http://www.ipswdownloader.com/
    And install it on your iPhone, using iTunes.

  • Inserting Images and Logos - works in the edit mode, but does not save nor show in final PDF format - help?

    I have tried several times - but when I load a logo or image in to a form template - it shows up on the template in edit mode but when I save it for PDF final format and use - the image or logo disappears. What I am doing wrong?

    Is this a form that you're creating in FormsCentral?

  • Even though new photo image shows up in the icon box in the lower corner of the camera screen, the photo did not save to any albums or places on iPhone 5s with ios8.02 update. Happened three times now so I know it is not operator error!

    where did my photo go? Three times now I have taken a photo, and can see the image in the little icon box on the camera screen. I click on the icon to use the photo to share, but the photo is nowhere to be found. Sometimes the image is retrievable but three times today alone, no image came up in camera roll, even though image is in the little icon. What is happening?

    Hello again... I have the 5S with current capacity of 56 GB and available space of 28GB.  (I have several big big rule books and pdf files for work on the phone).  There are currently a total of 1627 photos (yes, I know that's a lot...but there used to be even MORE, and I had no problems before ios 8.02) on the phone, and I have done routine purges and deletes and backups to my PC and the Cloud.
    When I did the first update to ios 8.0, of course, I found out quickly that photostream and camera roll disappeared, but I was smart enough to figure out that the upgrade created the folder "recently added" and I was able to reinstall the Cloud on my PC and my photos are streaming nicely to the PC and my Ipads (two of them) when I get home to wifi.
    Then I did the ios 8.02 upgrade last week.  Used my phone to take photos this past weekend while away on a trip, and darn, one of the photos that I really needed, disappeared.  I thought perhaps that the problem was "operator error" by the person who took the photo of me.  But then last night, I was taking some photos and lo and behold, the same thing happened to me...twice...... the photo image was in the little "icon" box, and I wanted to "share it".  So, I touch the icon of the photo, but the photo did not appear in the "recently added" bunch of photos.  The previous photo was there.  I took another photo, and it appeared normally in the "recently added".  <shrug>. Took a few more photos, and once more... the icon showed the image, but no image was in the "recently added" folder.
    That's all that I know as of now......  today... no problems.  all photos (took about 20) all appeared in "recently added" as they should.

  • I edit my photos in Photoshop, save as jpeg then import back into iPhoto.  But if I add text to an image in Photoshop can't save as jpeg but as psd. Is there any way I can change to jpeg in iPhoto?

    I edit my RAW photos in Photoschop CS3, save as jpeg then import back into iPhoto 11.  If I add text in Photoshop I can't save as jpeg but as psd.  Is there any way I can change to jpeg in iPhoto?

    Terence Devlin wrote:
    Yes you can. But you need to flatten it as jpeg doesn't support layers.
    While the final JPEG can't have layers, it is not necessary to flatten the original Photoshop file to create a JPEG. There are two ways to make a JPEG while not losing the flexibility of preserving layers, and they both flatten on the fly while saving.
    I just tried this in Photoshop CS3 myself. When I add a text layer, and choose Save, the Save As dialog box comes up and defaults to PSD as was described. But... that is just the default! Go ahead and choose JPEG from the Format pop-up menu down below the file list. JPEG is in there. So what happens to the layers? Notice when you choose JPEG, the Layers box grays out and the "As A Copy" box grays out and is checked (i.e. you cannot uncheck it). What is going on here is Photoshop will gladly make a JPEG of your layered file, but it will force the JPEG to be a copy, so as to not overwrite the original layered file. This is good, because your Photoshop file with its editable text layer is preserved, and you get a JPEG copy to put in iPhoto.
    The second way is, instead of doing Save or Save As, choose File/Save for Web and Devices. This will also give you a JPEG choice, and also create an exported copy. Because this way makes files for the Web, they will be smaller than JPEGs from Save As because they will lack built-in previews (which you don't really need these days) and other extra metadata that take up space.
    Either way you get a JPEG you can toss back into iPhoto.
    Terence Devlin wrote:
    Only by exporting.
    The Export menu in Photoshop CS3 does not have any direct choices for JPEG.

  • Edited/Cropped Photos Do Not Sync

    I'm taking photos with my iPhone5 camera iOS 7.0.3 and editing them.  I edit by cropping and adding a filter.  Sometimes I'll take the photo with the filter already selected.  Anyway, when I look at my camera roll, all the edited photos are there and all looks good.  But when I sync my iPhone to my computer and look at the photos from there, the photos are all unedited.  Meaning, all the filters and cropping I did is now gone.  Additionally, when wifi is on and Dropbox uploads/syncs the photos, all the filters and cropping are gone as well.  I'm confused.  Can anyone help?

    Thanks for thinking about my problem.  Here are my answers to your questions:
    The MacBook is running iPhoto 6.0.6 in OSX 10.6.8.  My iPad is running version 5.0.1.  My iPhone is a 3G running version 4.2.1
    The error message I get when syncing to the iPhone says "Some of your photos, including the photo “Early Spring Sunset.jpg”, were not copied to the iPhone “Harry Arader’s iPhone” because they cannot be displayed on your iPhone."  This is an odd message because they displayed just fine before the last sync.  The sync rejects all but 28 of the 220 or so pictures in the files I've "selected" for the sync.
    On the iPad I was going for a much larger number of photos - over 3,000 (there is plenty of room on the device).  Basically, iTunes hangs up.  Here I get a message saying "The iPad "Harry Arader's iPad" was not synced because the sync could not be completed" (I'm paraphrasing here since it takes a long time to get to this message and I don't have time to run it fruitlessly again).
    As to "staying out of the iPhoto Library" this would be great except that the size of my iPhoto library excedes the available space on my MacBook hard drive.  Therefore I moved the library to a NAS (network attached server). I carefully followed the steps outlined to create a new library, it works perfectly for iPhoto and it worked fine for Syncing until quite recently.
    "Now other places since I made copies" means that I have backed up the photos to yet another hard drive.
    The explanation of "exporting to a shared library" means that I exported photos from the iPhoto library to the NAS.  The NAS is hard-wired to my ATT UVerse server.  I did this so that photos and other files could be accessed by other family members and also so they can be accessed on our TVs (which works BTW!)
    Thanks again for any light you can shed...

  • ADF Edit page changes do not save to database

    Hi. I'm using JDeveloper 10.1.3, working off the ADF Tutorial to create an edit page that updates a master-detail record. The user selects a record from a list of records in a table called ACTION, which opens an edit page for that record. The user makes changes to the record and clicks a Save button that uses mergeEntity(Object) to update the database:
    <methodAction id="mergeEntity" InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" MethodName="mergeEntity"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    ReturnName="SessionEJBLocal.methodResults.SessionEJBLocal_dataProvider_mergeEntity_result">
         <NamedData NDName="entity"
              NDValue="${bindings.findActionByActionIdIter.currentRow.dataProvider}"
    NDType="java.lang.Object"/>
    </methodAction>
    After hitting the button, the user is taken back to the full list of records. The full list shows the changes that were just made, BUT the changes are not saved to the database. If I open SQL*Plus and run a query the changes are not there. If I re-start the ADF application, the changes are not there.
    The following code in SessionEJBLocal.java successfully completes and does not throw exceptions. The entity in the unit of work has the proper updated values:
    public Object mergeEntity(Object entity)
    UnitOfWork uow = getSessionFactory().acquireUnitOfWork();
    Object workingCopy = uow.readObject(entity);
    if (workingCopy == null)
    throw new RuntimeException("Could not find entity to update");
    uow.deepMergeClone(entity);
    uow.commit();
    return workingCopy;
    Any ideas? Do I need to create a separate commit button? I don't see anything like that in the tutorial...
    Trevor

    Roy-
    Make sure the named data value (parameter) for the mergeEntity method matches what is returned by the readObject() query. You should not be sending the results of a readAll() query into the mergeEntity() method.
    In my example, the mergeEntity methodAction looks like this...
    <methodAction id="mergeEntity" InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" MethodName="mergeEntity"
    RequiresUpdateModel="true" Action="999"
    ReturnName="SessionEJBLocal.methodResults.SessionEJBLocal_dataProvider_mergeEntity_result">
    <NamedData NDName="entity"
    NDValue="${bindings.findActionByActionIdIter.currentRow.dataProvider}"
    NDType="java.lang.Object"/>
    </methodAction>
    I think the parameter is in that NamedData tag. The iterator findActionByActionIdIter is...
    <methodIterator id="findActionByActionIdIter"
    Binds="findActionByActionId.result"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal" RangeSize="10"
    BeanClass="<***package names***>.model.Action"/>
    which binds to the result of this readObject() query...
    <methodAction id="findActionByActionId"
    InstanceName="SessionEJBLocal.dataProvider"
    DataControl="SessionEJBLocal"
    MethodName="findActionByActionId" RequiresUpdateModel="true"
    Action="999"
    ReturnName="SessionEJBLocal.methodResults.SessionEJBLocal_dataProvider_findActionByActionId_result">
    <NamedData NDName="findActionId" NDType="java.lang.Integer"
    NDValue="${userState.actionID}"/>
    </methodAction>
    ...which runs based on what the main list (readAll() query) page sets in userState.actionID before the navigation goes to the Edit page.
    All the above markup is defined in the page definition of the Edit page. If you're having problems with Master-Detail, maybe just try to get the non-foreign key fields working first. Hope this helps.

  • Editing 1 photo multiple times.

    I am having a hard time when I open a photo to edit more then one time. Exp. I edit a copy in color in lightroom 3, then I edit with Photo Shop CS5 (copy with lightroom settings). Once I edit in Photo Shop and Save As I can no longer go back into Lightroom 3 and edit that pictures. I would like to take one photo and create different looks (black/White, Sepia and so on)..this is getting very fustrating at this point. I can'e even open my Raw(NEF) files either.
    Any advise would be really appreciated.
    Thanks

    Welcome to the forum!
      Okay, so... first, the relationship between LR and PS:  LR handles everything virtually; that is, instead of actually modifying the original file, it makes changes and saves the work it did as a history step.  So every time you modify it, it repeats those steps to create the image you are looking at.  PS on the other hand, does make changes to the original.  So once you write it out (unless you are using lots of layers and making huge files) you can't go back and edit it.  This is the power of LR, that everything is done on the fly to make the image you are viewing.
      So it's only one step from there to having multiple sets of steps;  that's what a "Virtual Copy" is.  It's just another entry into the database that points at the same original image;  thus,  you don't need to have 5 images taking up 5 times the space of one image when you want to try 5 different views of the same image.
    Once  you pass off your image to PS, however, it will make a NEW image when you save it.  Since it is a new image, it should be obvious that editing the original will have no effect on this image.  LR will always allow you to edit your original, but it will NOT pass along changes to any image created from that original and saved into a new image;  it treats them as completely seperate images.
    If you have import result back into LR checked, then your image edited in PS will automatically show up with your original image.  If you have stacking turned on, then your original image will be "stacked" with your new one, so if you can't see your original anymore, try expanding stacks, and see if it's "hidden" behind the other one.
    Cheers!
