Edits to To Dos associated with email messages don't persist

Here are the steps to replicate this problem within Apple Mail (the latest version - 4.3 on OS X 10.6.4):
1) Select some text in an email message, and click the to do button in the toolbar to turn it into a to do. This to do now appears in the list of to dos visible when you click 'To Do' under 'Reminders' in Mail's left hand sidebar.
2) Return to the email message, and edit the to do visible at its top. The to do text has changed when you view it via the email message, but if you again look at the list of to dos via Mail's left hand sidebar it has not - only the original to do text is visible. And if you then return to the email message, the do has returned to its original text.
Any help/pointers for investigation much appreciated

Sorry no help just noting that I have excately the same problem. However I am still on Leopard with Mail V3.6. I suspect one of the recent "security" updates screwed the way how Todo notes are shared with Mail and Ical...
I can also edit the Todo message with Ical and the changed text appears instantly in Mail. Just editing within a mail-message with the little yellow box above is not working. However I can change priority and due-dates but not the text....

How do I change the phone number associated with my messages and facetime? It's tied to my husband's number, and needs to be switched to mine.

I'm trying to change the number associated with our ipad's facetime and messages to my number, not my husbands. When I look under settings, it shows his number, but I don't see the opportunity to change or edit the number.

It will not send notifications for that number to that devcie if turnmed off but the number is still active if selected on other devices.
Messages is lionked through the use of your Apple ID and any numbers or email associated to that ID can be set as notifications.
The Phone numbers seem to be registered before email in messages and the easiest method for setup that I have found is to turn messages off on asll devices that you have under that Apple ID.
Then start with your iphone first, turn messagaes on, wait a few minutes for it to completly register.
Then go to the next device and do the same until complete, with each new device A prompt should come up asking if you want to associate the previous contact metyhod with this device.

Edit as new not working with draft messages?

Occasionally I want to send two similar messages at the same time. I write one message and save it as a draft - usually at this stage without any addresses specified.
I visit the Drafts folder and use Edit as New to open the draft message as what I expect to be a new message, and then make the changes necessary (including a modified subject) to create the second similar message. I then save the second message as a draft.
When I return to the Drafts folder, the second message has overwritten the first. Edit as New does not appear to work correctly in the Drafts folder ......
I can create two similar drafts by starting a completely new message (with Write), and then manually copying the subject & contents of the original draft. However this is a cumbersome process .....
Please can Mozilla be modified so that Edit as New allows multiple draft messages to be created correctly?

Thanks for your feedback. I've looked at the bug report you identified and added my vote to the system.
I have previously tried using Templates for this issue. However, my messages are usually sent to a mailing list. I have found in the past that the mailing list is expanded when the message is sent, and my templates contained the expanded list (which meant that any addresses subsequently added to the mailing list were ignored).
I don't think I've actually tried creating the template without any addresses, even though this is how I currently work with my drafts. I'll do some more experimenting - it might provide a neat solution to several related problems.

Calendar default/associated with email

I deleted the email address on my phone (8130) and now outlook doesn't recognize the old entries as belonging to my calendar. It's like there is a default calendar on my device that is not associated with any email address now. When I put my email address back in, it only associated itself with entries that I put into the device new. Is there a way to get them integrated/associated with my one email address again? I don't use outlook for email, but if I need to set it up to fix this issue I will.

Since my post I was successful in fixing the problem. I ended up calling my wireless service provider (AT&T in my case) and they hooked me up with RIM tech support. Basically, the problem was fixed using the Backup & Restore feature in the Desktop Manager program. I recommend you first try to get to RIM tech support the way I did, as your problem might be unique.
However, here is how my issue was fixed. First make sure your calendar in Outlook is complete and fully up to date, which in my case it was. Hit the Advanced button in the B&R feature. You will see a side-by-side list of Databases; one for Desktop File and one for Device. The desktop file refers to any backup file you may have previously created. I recommend you first create a backup file. Then you can scroll down the list of Device db's and clear the "Calendar" and "Calendar All" databases. Now reset your Sync Configuration for a one way sync from Outlook to Device and synchronize. Now everything should be fixed. Reset your sync config for 2-way sync for the future.
Hope that helped. This problem frustrated me mightily as well, but I was pleased to actually get support from RIM. I believe you must do it through your wireless provider though, as they may have a contract with RIM. Otherwise it would cost $$$.

Open the settings App > Notifications > Messages > Text tone. Make sure you have it set.
If so, Try a reset: Simultaneously hold down the Home and On buttons until the device shuts down. Ignore the off slider if it appears. Once shut down is complete, if it doesn't restart on it own, turn the device back on using the On button. In some cases it also helps to double click the Home button and close all apps from the tray before doing the reset.

Cant find out serial number associated with email address

I just lost my ipod touch 4g ..
I want to report it lost or stolen device in apple support profile , but when i enter the serial number it says already registered by another email address.. I tried every email address i remember but cant still find the right one !

Email messages don't display in thunderbird message pane but wdseml file is good.

There are some email messages that don't display correctly in the Thunderbird message pane.
Either the pane is completely empty or chunks of html show up in the pane.
I checked the actual email file stored in:
C:\Users\Dave\AppData\Roaming\Thunderbird\Profiles\d976yxfm.default\Mail\pop-server\Inbox.mozmsgs
and it looks good, as the Windows 7 explorer window is able to show the email message cleanly in the preview window.
When I click on "View Source", it shows the wrong source file, I think.
The text in the "view source" window doesn't match the text in the ".wdseml" file at all.
Note: I recently migrated my C drive from a spinning hard disk to an SSD, perhaps this caused the weirdness? But, most of my email messages do display correctly, just some of them are hosed.
Any ideas how to fix?
Currently running Windows 7, 64 bit, latest update from Microsoft (as of 3/13/2014).

So no need for bash.
type CMD into the search box to locate it
If you can use bash I assume your familiar with CD to change folders.
One little thing I use to save typing is I locate the folder in Explorer, click beside the path so it changes to a C:\ based item and use Ctrl + C to copy it and paste it into my CMD session. CTRL+V does not work, but edit on the windows system menu does.
To rename the files, navigate to the folder they are in and Copy *.wdseml *.eml
once you do the import return and del *.eml to clear out the duplicates from the first step.

Changing the image associated with mail messages (iphone 5)

Hello!
I have an iPhone 5 and use Hotmail as it's default mail send account (I know I know!). I also have several other mail accounts on the phone but use hotmail as the default as it is my most common account. For hotmail messages (and none of the others accounts), a little image appears beside the subject line on mail sent from this account. It is an eagle's head (one of those mac stock images). I'm trying to replace this with another pic, or just remove it altogether. I have a different image selected in all user/contact/mail account info on my imac that the phone syncs to, in my iCloud account, and in my contacts and mail accounts on the phone itself. Still the darn eagle image shows in the subject line for hotmail messages from the phone. Any advice on getting rid of the annoying eagle would be greatly appreciated!

Click on a .jpg file (in Finder) and Get Info (Apple-I). Click the Open With dropdown menu, select Preview, then click the Change All button.

EDIT: My fault - should have read your post all the way through and I would have seen that you did something very similar, but different in that you used the contextual menu and the checkbox. However, you might try the steps I suggested. I just created a new jpg in Photoshop and saved it, a double-click opens it in PhotoShop, then I changed Open With to Preview in the Get info dialog, and now a double-click opens it in Preview. Note that Preview was on the drop-down list, no need to select Other...
If this fails, you can try rebuilding or resetting your LaunchServices database using Onyx. LaunchServices is what associates file types with applications; rebuild can fix problems (such as the one I just noticed - my Open With drop-down in Get Info shows one Preview, but two Firefoxes, three Safaris and four RealPlayers!!). Resetting the database will kill all associations, so each time you open a new file type you'll be asked to pick an app, until the database is repopulated).

Names are associated with email address in Mail but not in Contacts. How do I fix this?

When writing a new email if I begin typing someone's name, it automatically starts showing matching first and last names and email addresses. So if I start typing Bob it'll start showing matching contacts and have selected by default Bob Doe <[email protected]>.
This is great in Mail but in Contacts it doesn't work.
If I start searching for Bob, there are no results. Instead the only result there is the email address. So I have to know my contacts email addresses instead of their names when I'm dealing with Contacts.
Is there a way to sync Mail and Contacts or something so Contacts gets the associated names of the email addresses?

Maverick interfering with email messages.

Since installing Maverick a few days ago, every time I send a new email (in Mail) two entries of the selected name appears in the "To" box. This is annoying but deleting the second name sends one message. However, add a couple of pics from iPhoto, delete the additional (second) name from the To box still sends the recipient two identical messages. This unnecessarily eats up the recipient's monthly GB allowance.
I have just spoken to an Apple Tech Support lady and I don't think she could offer me a resolution, the cure she advised is iCloud related via Maverick and not yet resolved. I don't imagine I'm the only customer affected - or am I ?
Can anyone shed any light on this difficulty ?

Luckily, I have Apple Care, I rang the help line and my problem was sorted.
When I enter a new name in my Contacts folder, in order to find people quickly, I insert the surname first and then a comma then TAB (to separate them) then insert the christian name, viz:
Brown, Warren. This worked fine until I updated to Maverick.
Maverick doesnt like this, I was advised to delete the comma at the end of the surname but keep it separate from the christian name, i.e., two boxes.
So I reworked my contacts list and removed every comma, new messages now show only one entry per person.
I wish Apple would leave well alone !
They've stuffed up the way iPhoto and iTunes used to work, NOT HAPPY !

Incorrect name associated with email account

I have an email account setup on me.com and can't seem to change the username exmaple My Name <[email protected]>. After searching the support site I found a few solutions such as changing it on the Apple ID site, and on the Mac preferences. I even changed it by editing the email XML file and changing the User name.
The user name is correct on the Apple ID site, account preferences on the Mac, iCloud settings, yet when I send an email the name attached to the account it wrong??
Anyone have any recommendations?

To change the "From" name on your Mac Mail, go to icloud.com, sign into your account, open Mail, click the gear shaped icon on the top right and choose Preferences, go to the Accounts tab and enter the name you want to use in the Full Name field and click Done. Then quit Mail on your Mac and re-open it. Your new From name should now appear in the drop-down list when you compose a new email.

I recently synced my moms phone onto my MacBook and this has effected my iCloud,Facetime and iMessage accounts on my Mac,iPad and iPhone. When I look at preferences on iMessage and facetime, it lists my moms phone number, how can I edit that phone number to be mine ? We are both on the same iTunes account.
