Hello? Frame rate of loaded EDL file does not match the frame rate of the current project? Really?
They're both from PrPro ... and this is of course the 8.2.0(65) and 8.2x51 current matched combo ... let's look at the project.
- The footage is 29.97 MOV from a GH3. Dropped onto a clean timeline area so PrPro mated the settings to the footage.
- The EDL was then exported from PrPro simply for a sequence of three short clips one after another on this simple timeline. Naturally, I had to UN-CLICK "Non-drop frame" as putting out an interlaced EDL is the default no matter the footage. Really? That's stupid within PrPro ...
I've read up on EDL "construction" and viewed some of mine through Window's "Notepad" though clearly it must not show a lot of things as this is the file for that EDL ...
Here's a different one ...
In this case, for I don't know why, the client had this set for frame numbers ... PrPro shows frame numbers in the Info panel for in/out points. Sg clearly can't read this as frame numbers ... and PrPro outputs the EDL with this anyway. So I tested with my own footage, got the same above error message. Then set the project back to Timecode & exported the EDL ... and got this ...
Which is naturally absurd as again ... this is the footage referenced above. 29.97 dropped on a clean timeline, three short clips, then export an EDL out.
I'd like to get some clear answers as to how to consistently get an EDL out from PrPro so Sg can read the dang thing. As would others I've tried to help.

I tried various ways to open a Premiere Pro saved EDL in Speedgrade Neil and kept getting errors, but not frame rate error, but "a file with frame number 9655593 could not be found. Error opening file."
For myself, I am using Cinema DNG from bmpcc.
After trying lots of my own methods, I achieved success in loading the reels, but I would say the work-around method I developed is not proper.
Then, I managed to achieve success with the saved EDLs that I kept having the above errors with.
Question for you is 'how to you open the EDL in Speedgrade?'.
For me, I was creating a 'New Speedgrade Project (.ircp)' and guiding to my saved EDL. When I was loading reels, I was getting errors as I moved from Media to Color. I believe that is improper.
I would say that the proper way to open an EDL in Speedgrade is to 'Open Project', then guide to your saved EDL. That method gives me no errors after loading reels and moving from Media to Color.
Does that apply to your frame rate errors?

is the background apart of your image or is the image on a different layer?
if the white background is on a different layer you can simply delete the layer for the layers window which you can find in Window>Layer. you will need to delete the background layer by dragging it into the little rubbish bin icon down the bottom right of the layers window.

Cannot Install Adobe Acrobat Pro via Adobe Download Assistant - Please Help

Please can you help I am trying to download the adobe acrobat pro trial via the adobe download assistant but cannot get the download to complete successfully.
Everytime I try and download the file it freezes when almost totally downloaded (less than a minute remaining) and eventually returns an error saying:
Error extracting teh product installer (Error 101). Check for available disk space on your system and try downloading the product again. I am trying to install to the desktop on a drive with 600GB free!!
Please help, I have downloaded the ADA through google chrome on a machine with windows 7 (64bit)

Though if the extraction fails, you may face that same issue again. Store the fiel in a different location and do a littel housekeeping. You could well simply be running out of temp space or have a permissions problem on your temp folder...

Serious problem requiring URGENT assistance please!

I've been editing a short film shot on RED in 4k using Premiere Pro CS5 but have encountered an error with the following message when I last tried opening the project:
Premiere Pro has encountered an error

There's a button to continue after which, Premiere runs into a serious error and has to close. This happens everytime I open the project and literally started out of the blue it seems! I can "recover" the project and continue work on the edit by creating a new premiere project and importing the old one into the new one but the problem then persists after saving and closing the project and re-opening on my next session!
The other major problem that this is causing is that I cannot export .AAF or .OMF files out to my sound designers - the export will begin but then the progress bar will "hang" and not go any further. I previously exported an .AAF and .OMF for this project as a test to make sure it will all work and it was fine, but since getting the above error and having to create fresh projects out of old projects I cannot get these files out to complete the film! This problem also extends to things using dynamic link it would seem - for example, if I try to export the timeline using AME, the progress bar will get stuck at "connecting to dynamic link" though curiously if I do a direct export through Premiere I have no problems and can export an encoded video. Also, it seems I can still export edl's and FCP xml successfully, though after successfully importing an xml back into a new premiere project, the error struck again soon after when I tried to select the entire timeline and copy it to the clipboard to paste it into a new sequence!
I thought it might be an idea to delete all the temp files in the media cache folder buried deep within my c:drive, thinking that may be causing the error, but to no avail as I still get the error issue.
I'm getting very worried about the integrity of my project and all my hard work being ground to a halt or worse still totally corrupted so I would appreciate any assistance from someone who may have a solution to this problem! This has been a real pain as the edit has been going swimmingly up until now and we're fast approaching a deadline we were trying to make for submission to some film festivals, so I desperately need to get this to work so I can export the omf and aaf at the very least to my sound guys!

Ok, so I seem to have pinpointed the problem a little further... here are my findings so far:
So, the project I am running has multiple sequences. I've been using different sequences for different progressions of the cut, so if I made a major revision to a cut, I would duplicate the sequence, rename the copy and continue work within this new sequence to cut further.
I just did a test trying to export an OMF from a sequence iteration previous to the most current one that I'm working within and the export works just fine! In fact, I then proceeded to trying the export from all other previous sequences (I four or five in the project in total) and they all work fine when trying to export etc - it's just the most up-to-date cut that is bugging and I can't figure out for the life of me why this is the case!!!
The last test I tried was trying to copy and paste the contents of the troublesome sequence into a newly created sequence (I did so by first duplicating and then with that failing, creating a completely fresh sequence instead) but I must be copying over the error/bug as that new sequence suffers the same export issues as I have already detailed in my original post.
If anyone can help me with this issue that would be wonderful as it's getting quite frustrating being such a weird little bug that is setting our schedule back!

Droid Backup Assist--Please HELP!

I apologize in advance if this is a duplicate thread, but I'm desperate and on a time crunch....
My Droid (the original) decided it would stop working and somehow fried its hard drive; or so that's what the "tech" at my local Verizon branch said. I was really careful and had backup assistant as well as anti-droid theft installed, but now that the phone is trash I have no access to anything (including some very important documents). I am attempting to find someone that could honestly tell me if there is a way to use either backup assistant or anti droid theft to load all of my info that is on my droid to my computer, that is if it's even there at this point. I was unable to back any of the phones files/downloads previous to now because I didn't have a computer until a few months ago... I've been told there are ways to access the files and possibly load them to my computer without the phone itself working, but I have no clue as to how to do this. Could someone please help me out? I'm desperate!

A lot of your data should be on your SD card, the first step would be to pull that out of your phone and use a card reader with your computer to see what all is on it. As for what is on the internal storage (on the OG droid, that should be minimal), you may be out of luck. Hopefully you have your contacts synced with gmail, in that case, they will automatically sync with the new phone, as well as your applications (though unfortunately not the data that is associated with those apps).

I ran my usual check on the mac drive via "Verify Disk" option. It came up with "needs repair"...etc., and told me to repair it. I did a command r during boot so I could do a repair, and the software told me "your mac drive seems to be ok"??? Some kind of glitch, or need I worry about it at all? Thanks for any assist.

Ok, I'm a little confused, please explain if you would. The way I look at this is I basically received faulse readings from "disk utility's "verify disk"" because when I followed procedure afterwards, which everyone knows is to use the installation cd to run "repair disk", it told me everything was ok (or in essence there wasn't anything wrong at all). This is normal? This makes no sense to me, can you please explain it, or point me to an Apple support article explaining it? Thank you sir for your time.

I previously updated my bios into Insyde F.24 (see attached images) which was ok at first, but when i decided to update my graphics drivers to its manufacturers driver (Nvidia), I started to experience my HP Pavilion DV6 heating up whenever i play games.
I often check and put my graphics setting to balanced in hopes to lessen the heat up a bit. However as soon as i play or open up a game (Fable 3, mass effect 3 and others) the fans starts to spin wildly. To prevent my notebook from overheating i decide to exit my game after 30 minutes of playing and let it cool down first and start again.
I read some points that the update in Bios i made previously possibly has something to do with it, and am now asking your assistance if i can downgrade or roll back into my previous or original Bios.
Would it possible to downgrade? My current Bios version is Insyde F.24. I also searched for a Bios update at HP website and found out the current version i should be running is F.0A. Should i run this?
Any kind suggestion i must do?

I am considering using bootcamp by installing a windows disc version of vista that i had on my now defunct dell inspiron 1721 laptop to use for the occasional use of windows only games
My questions being
1) Will the dell disc work on my imac? and if it doesnt what are the potential pitfalls of trying such an installation
2) Will i be able to also install a version of windows enterprise blue version 2007 that i also obtained for using on the above machine also?
3) Is it possible to buy an external hard drive and attempt the installation on that rather than directly onto the imac
apologies for being so cautious but having a trouble free imac for the last six months or so has been the best purchase i have ever made after almost ten years of windows nightmares!! and therefore would not want to put my mac at major risk for the sake of playing a few games via bootcamp and using the odd word document

Generally speaking it is wrong to use any Windows disk that was not purchased specifically for your Mac. I've seen warnings posted here over the years against using a Dell (or other same type) disk and I've also seen people post success. Try the search function. From my own knowledge, if you launch Boot Camp Assistant and follow the BC install directions with precision then you cannot possibly hurt your Mac installation. This is assuming of course that you don't lose the ability to boot to OSX in the first place - a very rare problem. Keep a Time Machine or other duplicate of your OSX install just in case. Anyway - if your Windows install fails, you simply boot to OSX, launch Boot Camp, erase the partition (Restore Disk To A Single Volume) and you are good as new. Beware, though, there are current unaddressed issues in BC regarding the downloading of MS install drivers that are only well-explained on this message board. You should read these boards thoroughly to understand them since Apple has not issued a fix yet (AFAIK). The short version is that when BC Assistant asks you to download a file to burn a CD, lie and say you have already done so. Then use your Apple OSX install DVD after your Windows install is ready for Apple drivers. For my own Windows install I purchased the OEM low-cost (no support) Vista disk. If you browse around on line regarding OEM useage, it is a bit a user-agreement gray zone leaning towards the vendor and purchaser seemingly in the clear (provided they stick to the OEM rules) (Just my own personal current ever-evolving understanding of things). OEM might be the better option - who knows if MS will officially activate your Dell install after all that work? Just sayin...

emails forwarded to him. But now he wants to know who is forwarded to him now. I have no clue how to find this out. So i did some research and i came up with the shell script
