EE Harrier Mini - rebinding main keys?

Hi there, so I'm used to Samsung Galaxy phones, and the critical feature my new EE Harrier Mini lacks that they had is the settings key (The leftmost key on the Galaxy phones) - is there a way to rebind the press or long press or any of the three bottom buttons to fulfil this function? If not I'll likely head back and use the grace period to replace this phone, as I'm not sure I like the idea of not having this function.

Hi ,
The physical menu key was mainly used for built in Samsung touchwiz apps and has been removed on newer Samsung devices. It is no longer necessary as all up to date Android apps have their own onscreen menu button.
Thanks
James

  • Hello I have a problem with the main key of iphone 4.

    About 11 mounts I am using my telephone without any problem. But there is about 20 days the main key not work clearly. what can I do?

    If the basic troubleshooting steps outlined in the User Guide don't help (restart, reset, restore from backup, restore as new) don't help, you'll need to bring your phone into Apple for evaluation

  • Harrier mini wifi connections

    Had a Harrier mini for just over a month now and I'm suffering with inability to connect to my home wifi (EE).It did at first, the tablet I got at the same time still does as does any other device we try.Just had a week away abroad with wifi available and it wouldn't connect tro that either although the tablet and other devises did no problem.Tried everything from restart, forgetting the network and reinstating, even connecting to another phone used as wifi hotspot.Took it to EE shop - it connected straight away, and to an assistants wifi hotspot no problems - (typical!!)Got home  - no connection - message says 'Saved (no internet last connection)'  Is this a Harrier isuue or EE home broadband issue - or do I need to change some settings somewhere - or even change the phone!!

    : Sounds like its an issue with the Harrier, as all other devices have no problem with your Home BB and it won't connect to other WiFi, except, peculiarly, the one in the EE shop. Maybe its a signal strength issue. It's certainly not an EE Network issue as that's not WiFi.
    What standard of wireless is it compatible with, B, G, N, AC?

  • How do I remedy a frozen screen on an EE Harrier Mini?

    On a normal phone I would take the battery out and that would power it off. But when someone makes a phone with a fixed battery and the screen freezes, apart from taking a hammer to it what is the solution? Crap design surely?

    I've got the Harrier Mini as well. There are some issues with the particular version of Android that's used on this phone, 5.0.2. There are some solutions you can try, I've noticed a great improvement in performance last night, after updating the "Android System Webview" app that is preinstalled on the device, apparently there was an issue with "graphics drivers causing the device to hang". Other than that, Android 5.0.2 has a memory leak, which can only be fixed by an update to Android 5.1. As a means of getting around this, you can go into Settings > About Phone, and tap "Build number" 8 times (it'll tell you how many times to keep pressing it). Then back up, and you'll see a new entry above "About Phone", called "Developer Options", go in there and scroll down to "Animator Duration Scale" and set it to "Animation off". Then reboot. The above steps will minimise the results of the memory leak but not completely solve it.

  • Harrier mini

    How do I delete a contact from my phone book?  Also my mic doesn't seem to work so people can only her me when I have the loudspeaker switched on. Seems to be a major fault on the phone. What is EE doing to remedy this?

    Hi,
    Contacts first.
    Android is mostly the same. Go into contacts and press down on the contact for a few seconds and an tickbox may come up allowing you to pick which contacts you want to delete. Also if you go into the contact and tap on the three dots at the top you should get the delete option.
    For more help with this phone please see the online guide here: http://ee.co.uk/help/phones-and-device/ee/EE-Harrier-mini
    As for the phone faulty and less than 14 days old then you can return it if purchased online. If not then you will need to take it into EE for repair.

  • TS3308 price for mini iPad  wireless key board ?

    where can I find the price for Mini iPad wireless Key Board?

    Here is a solution that i found that works really well, and is pretty cheap.
    I use an original iPad Keyboard dock (picked up one on ebay for $12).
    Use an extension cable to connect the iPad to the dock. Works with all iPads (newer ones like the mini or the air need the 30 pin to lightning adapter. I'm typing this on an iPad Air).

  • Rebinding Backspace Key

    Is there anyway to rebind the backspace key so that it does something else other than what it is supposed to do (i.e. delete the character before the current carat position). I've tried doing the inputMap()/actionMap() method to rebind and it fails to stop backspace from deleting the character before the current carat position.

    A much easier way of not deleting is to use a custom Document, but I assumed you wanted delete to still work correctly. I found [url http://forum.java.sun.com/thread.jsp?forum=31&thread=304562]this and tried it and it worked. I have no idea why.import java.awt.*;
    import java.awt.event.*;
    import javax.swing.*;
    public class Test extends JFrame {
      boolean consume;
      public Test() {
        setDefaultCloseOperation(JFrame.EXIT_ON_CLOSE);
        Container content = getContentPane();
        JTextField jtf = new JTextField("Something");
        jtf.addKeyListener(new KeyAdapter() {
          public void keyPressed(KeyEvent ke) {
            if (ke.getKeyCode()==KeyEvent.VK_BACK_SPACE) consume=true;
          public void keyTyped(KeyEvent ke) {
            if (consume) {
              ke.consume();
              consume=false;
        content.add(jtf, BorderLayout.NORTH);
        setSize(100, 100);
        setVisible(true);
      public static void main(String[] args) { new Test(); }

  • Mac Mini, the main hard drive is almost full with a file type "other." what is it and how do i get rid of it

    I have a Mac Mini 'server.' it has 2 500gb hard drvies, the main drive has 440gb of 'other' files on it. when i restart my computer it looses another gig or 2 to the 'other file.'
    how do i get rid of it? it is something that appears on the iphone and ipad as well.
    any idea's
    thanks

    The 'other' is unlikely to be a single file in a single folder, it could be thousands of files. You are therefore going to need to track the culprite down more.
    There are utilities you can buy that will visually show you which folder is the biggest. However you can also do this in Terminal.app free of charge.
    If you launch Terminal.app from the Utilities folder then do the following commands -
    sudo du -h -d1 /
    This will show which folder at the top level of your boot disk is the biggest i.e. contains the culprite. You then need to
    cd bigdirectory
    and do
    sudo du -h -d1 .
    (the full stop at the end is needed)
    Which will do another check in the bigdirectory and let you see which sub folder or file is the culprite, you may have to repeat this a few times till you find what you are looking for.

  • IPad mini 3 home key clicking noise

    I've had my iPad mini 3 for about 6 weeks now and I've just noticed that they home key has started to make a clicking noise before I even press on it. Is this a fault or just the way it's made? My original iPad mini never had this problem!
    regards
    Samantha

    Hi Sammyjayne,
    Thanks for the question. Based on what you stated, it seems like the home button just started making a clicking noise where it had not previously. Does the button still respond? I would recommend that you read this article, it may be able to help you isolate or resolve the issue.

  • HP 210 mini, no "F" keys? How to boot in Safe Mode

    Hi, new here so bare with me, hope I'm in the right forum.  My mini has no "F" keys at the top of the keyboard, and I need to boot in Safe Mode as I have a virus "win 7 antispyware" that has taken over my whole pc.  Can't access programs or internet.  I've found a hopeful fix online but need to boot in Safe Mode with networking, in order to download Malwarebytes to get rid of this!
    Can anyone here help me please?
    Thank you!

    All HP mini 210 keyboards are similar, F keys are printed on the top row of keys, upper left portion of the key.

    I just got a video ipod to replave my old ipod mini, but my itunes will only recognize and sync my mini. I've tried re-installing and backing up all my songs and then reloading them into library. I'm at a loss. If anyone knows how to fix this please let me know. Thanks.

    Do you have iTunes 7 or later?
    Still no joy, see these.
    USB drivers are not installed properly.
    iTunes 7 doesn't recognize the iPod.

  • Mac Mini and mains hum

    I have a most peculiar problem. I have a fairly noisy mains hum which comes and goes when I move my mouse. It never really bothered me until I went to convert vinyl records into AIFF files. It took me a while to work out how to get rid of it. I have to pull the mouse out of my USB Port on the keyboard once I've hit record. Even that hasn't totally got rid of it. Has anyone come across this before and found a way to stop the hum please?

    Jan, thanks for your input. That will solve all the nonsense I have to go through with disconnecting the mouse, but I still have a mains hum as well as the mouse problem. I have ordered a transformer for my input from the turntable to my Griffin iMic and that might solve the hum from probable lack of an earth loop. I suppose I'm just going to have dabble in a bit of trial and error!

  • The new mini keyboard + volume key or F12

    I just got rid of the clunky black keyboard that came with the computer for the new mini keyboard that Apple offers. On the old keyboard the F12 functioned as the volume which it is set up for. Since attaching the mini keyboard the F12 functions as the Dashboard which it is NOT set up for. Is there no way to change this? All settings are same as original keyboard.

    Go to Sys Prefs/Keyboard/Keyboard Shortcuts/Dashboard & Dock. Is the Dashboard box ticked?
    Yours could be different because I have no Leopard kit to check.

  • Is there a manual for the EE Harrier Mini?

    I am not used to android phones and would like help in making calls etc

    Atrociously underprovided by EE on this, given its a 'flagship product'.
    I upgraded from the Kestrel and have had nothing but regret since.
    For example, what other provider, for one of its 'own' products has ever failed to include a File Manager in the custom-build (BenQ, the manufacturer have never made this aggregious error).
    This alongside a customisation of the already-disastrous and universally despised Android Lollipop (Kojak wouldn't suck it) which means that on every leaving aside of the phone with extensive facilities, you get the fecking Phone screen offering speed dial when you return.
    It's a crock. An absolute disaster in an already Olympic career from EE.
    What have you got in your Product Development dept? A bunch of stoners?
