Ee tutorials - ant error on building .war

Hi
I recently started learning J2EE using this nice tutorial on the Sun website. I got into chapter 3 and there was a discussion about a bundle of example web applications generally... these are hello1, hello2, hello3 and 6 of duke's bookstore examples.
I was just following tutorial and I managed to build and deploy hello1 example, it was cool. But then hello2 didn't work. I tried many many chekings amendments etc... but it is over my skill. I also found out that none of duke's bookstore examples are working, and it is for a very same reason as hello2 example. However hello3 example works fine again.
btw, I wanted to use NB (6.1) but attached nb project files for these tutorials are somewhat not compatible with the latest 6.1 version. at least, my nb did not let me to open these. so i end up with ant. and here is the error which is given by ant, and when i am in a hello2 dir and type "ant" into my command prompt.
-pre-init:
init:
default-ear:
-pre-compile:
bpp-actual-compilation:
     [echo] Compiling hello2
    [javac] Compiling 2 source files to D:\Java\tutorial\examples\web\hello2\build\web\WEB-INF\classes
BUILD FAILED
D:\Java\tutorial\examples\bp-project\command-line-ant-tasks.xml:92: D:\Java\tutorial\examples\web\hello2\"D:\Java\AppServer" not found.
Total time: 0 secondsI hope you are able to catch what is this message talking about, i do not understand why is this ant trying to look into hello2 dir concatenated with appserv root directory at first place.
My appserv is installed in D:\\Java\\AppServer
and tutorial is located in D:\\Java\\tutorial
I am sure that my bp-project\\build.properties is configured pretty well (unless it is not :).
and this is the extract of command-line-and-tasks.xml, of that ellement which has line 92 in it...
<target name="bpp-actual-compilation" if="has-java-sources">
<echo>Compiling ${module.name}</echo>
<mkdir dir="${build.classes.dir}"/>
<javac srcdir="${src.dir}"
source="${default.javac.source}"
target="${default.javac.target}"
excludes="${javac.excludes}"
debug="${javac.debug}"
debuglevel="${javac.debuglevel}"
destdir="${build.classes.dir}"
includes="**">
<classpath refid="classpath"/>
</javac>
</target>
so i don't know, what is going on? why is it constructing such a weird path which cannot be valid obviously?

OK, forget about it,
I scrapped it all, deleted tutorials, unzipped them again, set the parameters, and it looks working now,
must have been something silly

    First thing, when Jdev does the automatic compilation, then why to bother for an ant script.
    and further as the script output says, check the compiler error log for a detailed information. From the error output you have posted, it seems that framework library files are not on the classpath and hence you are getting the issue.

  • Compiling Flash Builder Projects with ant - error

    I'm fairly new to FlashBuilder as well as using ant to build projects.
    I'm working on a project in FlashBuilder 4.5. I'm using a 3rd party SWC that contains an alchemy-compiled C application in the SWC. Building my entire project within FlashBuilder is working fine. However, due to other parts of the project (not imported into FlashBuilder) I need to build with ant on occasion.
    The Class specific to the C app within the SWC is throwing errors when building with ant - it says it can not find the source. I had one recommendation to look into adding/editing something within the build.xml file, but I don't know what that addition/edit would be.
    Any help appreciated.

    Apparently related to switching workspaces... the error log identifies a path to an old workspace I changed out of weeks ago. I created a new workspace and moved the project (just the source, etc, not the settings) into it. been running fine for a while now... though funny how this problem didn't show up until yesterday.

    Hi David,
    Yes, the problem came from the ../bp-project/build.properties & ../bp-project/app-server.properties files. As indicated from your error messages "/opt/javaeetutorial5/examples/web/bookstore/c:/Sun/AppServer not found." It seems you are using AppServer on a solaris machine while those configuration files are default for window enviroment "c:/Sun/AppServer not found."
    Here is what you should to do:
    -Copy build.properties.sample to build.properties
    -Edit the variables below for the correct path:
    javaee.home=<The installation directory of your AppServer>
    javaee.server.name=<machine name> (localhost)
    javaee.server.port=<The port number for the server instance> (8080)
    javaee.server.username=<The administrator username>
    javaee.server.passwordfile=</path/to/passwordfile>
    Note:
    Inside passwordfile add: AS_ADMIN_PASSWORD=<The administrator password>
    javaee.adminserver.port=<The port number for admin server> (4848)
    -Do the same thing for app-server.properties file (optional)
    You can find the information above from the link below

  • Looking for sample ANT files for building workshop webservice app outside the IDE

    Hi,
    I am currently planning to use Workshop for implementing a webservice application.
    I am looking for any sample ANT files that would enable me to build and deploy
    both the webservice EAR and the client JAR outside the IDE.
    Thanks,
    Bao Nguyen

    Hi Raj,
    Yup, I did see that sample file. However, it only demontrate how to build an
    EAR file. I am also looking for samples of how to generate the client JAR (using
    proxy to gain access to the webservice) and also how to deploy the web service
    EAR file to the server.
    I tried to use the ANT tag "clientgen" referencing the generated EAR file. It
    complainted of the missing WAR file. I checked the content of the EAR file and
    found no WAR file generated.
    I am also looking for a better way of accessing the webservice more generically
    instead of going through the proxy which is quite coupled to a specific app server.
    Please provide examples.
    Regards,
    Bao Nguyen

  • Error while building SUP based iphone client application

    Hi,
    I am getting the following error while building the application for iphone simulator. I tried by changing search path settings and added libraries to Link binary search path.I really stuck here. Any body please help me how to solve it.
    Undefined symbols for architecture i386:
    "_OBJC_CLASS_$_SUPMessageClient", referenced from:
    objc-class-ref in SUP101AppDelegate.o
    "_OBJC_CLASS_$_MBOLogger", referenced from:

    objc-class-ref in SUP101CallbackHandler.o
    Thanks in advance

    Hi Rockky/Wang
                    I have added the following libraries to "Link Binary with Libraries" . I am using xcode 4.0.2 , SDK 4.3 and MAC-OS 10.6 . Libraries are belongs to  SUP 1.5.5. simulator-- iphonesimulator 4.3
    AddressBook.framework
    CoreFoundation.framework
    QuartzCore.framework
    Security.framework
    libicucore.A.dylib
    libstdc++6.dylib
    libz.1.2.3.dylib
    libclientrt.a
    libMO.a
    libSUPObj.a
    After adding all these libraries automatically added path to "Link search path" as follows
    $(inherited)
    "$(DEVELOPER_DIR)/Platforms/iPhoneSimulator.platform/Developer/SDKs/iPhoneSimulator4.3.sdk/usr/lib"
    "$(SRCROOT)/../../../libs/Debug-iphonesimulator"
    Header search path i have given as following
    "/Users/RavuriB/includes/**"
    "/Users/RavuriB/TravelRequestMAP/Generated Code/**"
    Still i am getting the same error
    Undefined symbols for architecture i386:
      "_OBJC_CLASS_$_MBOLogger", referenced from:
          objc-class-ref in SUP101CallbackHandler.o
      "_OBJC_METACLASS_$_SUPDefaultCallbackHandler", referenced from:

          OBJCCLASS_$_SUP101CallbackHandler in SUP101CallbackHandler.o
    ld: symbol(s) not found for architecture i386
    collect2: ld returned 1 exit status
    i tried by changing paths differently but no luck.
    is that  SUP 1.5.5 version is suitable for the xcode version and SDK?. Am I forgot to add any frameworks ? or any thing i need to change. I am really stuck at this problem . Can you  Please help me to come out of this problem.
    Thanks & Regards

  • Error "Problem building schema" while invoking external webservice

    Hi,
    I have following problem:
    I created 2 BPEL processes.
    One of these processes should be called from the other as a partnerlink.
    When I create the partnerlink, pointing to the deployed wsdl, I get following error "Problem building schema" when I try to access the input variable that was created by the invoke activity.
    I have tried a lot of things but keep on getting this error.
    When I create a new, empty BPEL process, and do exactly the same it does work!
    any help would be greatly appreciated.....
