EEk! How Do I Animate in FWCS3?

Hi!
I am quite stuck! I just realized that Photoshop CS3 no
longer has Adobe ImageReady and I am trying to do a simple
animation of a feather tickling a cat. I have
NO idea how to do this in FWCS3 as the controls are
different to me. I have a deadline of midnight tomorrow to get this
done. I was wondering if someone might explain to me how do I make
the feather go up and down on the cat's belly.
What I have tried is:
I have a 2 layer PSD file
I have taken that into
Fireworks
The feather and hand is the top layer
and the base of the graphic is on the bottom
I have converted the hand+feather to
a symbol
I copied and pasted the hand+feather
symbol graphic
I placed the images in the top and
bottom positions and tweened the instances with Distribute to
Frames checked.
The frames tween, but I lose my
bottom layer (the base).
I can't figure out how to do it and keep the base.

I really would just like instructions on how to do it as I
really need to learn how to use FW to animate. I tried a few
tutorials, but they were bouncing ball ones and didn't really help
me out.

How can i animate .jpg image?

hi
how can i animate images which i edit in GIMP?
i mean, i have 1 video clip showing a tree. and then i have 1 .jpg image of an airplane
how can i make that airplane from jpg image to appear in the video showing the tree? i want to make that airplane crash into the tree and explode.
i see a lot of similar stuff on youtube (like "cyriak animation mix") but i don't know what this technique is called. animation of still images? google search gave me lots of dubious results, none of them came straight to the point.
all i know it involves some manipulation of keyframes but i need to know more keywords to further research this technique. or better yet - find a decent article explaining basics.
can somebody help?

First, you will probably want to Key out the background around the plane. Look into Chorma Key, or one of the other Keying Effects in PrE, depending on how the plane was shot, or created. If you created it, you can probably Mask out any background, and Save_As a format, that support Transparency, such as with an Alpha Channel Mask.
Then, with the plane on a higher Video Track, than your tree, use the Fixed Effect>Motion>Position to Keyframe the Position of the plane, moving it across the Frame. There is no direct way out of edge animate.
You could export a OAM from Animate and import that into DreamWeaver CC which has a direct way of Hosting sites

How do i animate colours only in my shapes and not everything else??

Hi i have created a game where the user clicks on the screen and where ever the user clicks triangles appear. I have created an animation whereby after the user clicks, a set of colours, green, orange cyan and cycled through 1 by 1 in the triangle. This is done with the help of a timer.
The problem i am having now is that the colours also cycle in the menue and the timer(timer is shown when the first click is pressed). I wont the colors to ONLY animate in the triangle.
Does anybody know how i can do this??

How can i change this so that i will animate the colors in my triangle and NOT the timer and menue?

gc.drawString and gc.fillPolygon use the last color that was set with gc.setColor. So, you need to set the color to the correct color before calling those methods. Also, if you're using the Graphics object passed to you through a paint method, you should call g.create at the beginning of your custom drawing code and g.dispose at the end of your drawing code so that you're using a temporary Graphics object.

How can I animate a line to show the creation of a circle?

hello there, I need to animate a line to show the creation of a circle. This is very easy in powerpoint as I can decide how the line has to enter the slide. I cannot believe that captivate cannot do that.... any hints?

Off the top of my head you can do this with 3 objects. The circle and two rectangles that will have motion path effect applied to them that will have an effect of wiping away and revealing the circle below. There's probably an easier way but like I said I just pulled this outa my...
This will work nicely and cleanly in HTML5 since it's a simple motion path effect.
The screenshot shows the two rectangles moving in opposite directions. The lower box should move AFTER the first one is done. I'm showing some transparency so you can see the circle below.

How do you animate a montage ?

The montage below is created from stacked jpeg images. I would like to animate the montage starting with a blank canvas with the images come in from the side one by one to settle in their places all with a musical background. I have Photoshop and Premier Elements. Any suggestions on how this can be done?

Sorry that it just did not sink in, as both you and others have mentioned
that you already have PrElements 8 - Duh!
PrE 8 will do just what you want. Now, I do feel that Motion>Position
Keyframes (to animate your elements) is easier in PrPro, AND PrPro will
allow one to Import a Layered PS PSD, and retain the Layers, BUT PrE 8 can
do the work. The difference there would be that you would want to Save each
Layer as a separate PSD with Transparency. Then, Import each into PrE, and
animate them to suit.

How can I animate size and rotation on mouse over?

Hello,
I'm fairly new to Edge Animate and have been trying to find tutorials but all I've found so far are ones for older versions which are very different to the new CC 2014 versions so not had much luck..
I'd like to animate icons similar to the those on the coloured band on this site: http://do.live147.com/html/rockox/index.html ("Website", Latest Trends" etc..)
So on mouse over I'd like to animate the scale and rotation of the icon, and then if possible, to keep it in that new state until another icon is selected (rather than returning on mouse out). All icons are for a design in Muse (CC 2014).
Can anyone help me or point me towards some new tutorials which covers this? I'd appreciate any clues on how to do this!
I'm using Edge Animate CC 2014.1 on a Mac.

Ooh okay - thanks Heathrowe - I see what you mean about using the symbols to group animations, does seem much simpler!
So, putting the question back out there...
I've managed to implement the mouse rollover states;
mouseenter: sym.getSymbol("Concept").play('Over');
mouseleave: sym.getSymbol("Concept").playReverse();
When each one is clicked, it holds;
click: sym.getSymbol("Concept").play('Click');
Now I need to figure out the code to make each symbol continue to hold after it's been clicked on (even if the mouse rolls over them again), and playReverse ONLY when another symbol is clicked. My plan is to have information appear under this banner which changes depending on which tab is selected.

How best to animate Stroke Effect for a text gif?

In CS5, the stroke effect can produce some great looking effects on text--- but I've not found any way to animate stroke, only the basic parameters; you can keyframe a style on-off, but I need to keyframe the scale slider in the Fill Type window. I tried going into After Effects CS5, but it lacks the fine detail parameters for stroke that get the effect I want ( it doesn't allow Pattern Fill at all, nor Scale). Is it not possible to animate the special effects? Hoping someone might have some ideas on how to get stroke effects animated on text.

selected text? or just the text size?
To make any smooth motion, you'll want to make it into a
movieclip, then tween it using AS or timeline tweens. You can
connect this action with some script on a button allowing for more
control.

How do I animate say, dropping paint, in Edge?

I have 4 PNG files, that show drops of paint from a brush at various stages.
I want to display to the viewer a sequence of paint dripping off the brush, as if flipping a cartoon drawing book...
I have imported all four images and tried to stack them on top of each other, and manipulate the timeline, to get the images to display in the sequence above, but I have not had the luck I was seeking.
Any ideas?
I am new to Edge Animate (29 days left on the trial), and I have had 5+ years of experience with Flash.

How do I animate graphics for ipad, a windows user who might jump ship

Please read this recent post that I put up on the Adobe Flash forums site; only got one reply which wasn't much use to me, maybe you guys can help.
No I'm not on here to moan about Mac not supporting Flash (and yes I know that in theory Apple have done a U turn and are prepared to support it, albeit through gritted teeth). I have a problem though, I have been using Adobe since, well forever really, and am Windows based, plus I've always managed to keep both Mac and Windows users happy as I am largely video and After Effects based. I've dabbled with Flash and Director and some HTML coding so I am not completely naive when it comes to interactive presentations. This time I am a bit stumped though, I have an international client and they have decided as a company to invest in ipads for all their staff, so I am now being asked about interactive presentations including graphics and video content. Well if any other client had asked this of me I would have brushed up on my Flash and probably developed a straight forward presentation (nothing too fancy is required, no back end data base stuff etc, just a few animated buttons, splash screens and video). It is probably not agood idea coming onto an Adobe forum and asking what other program I can use for similar projects on the Mac, but that is my starting point. I know about Keynote, which I perceive a bit like Powerpoint (Micky Mouse comes to mind, I'm asking for trouble saying that I guess), so what exactly is the programe that is used on Macs to do similar tasks as Flash, does it exist? Before I decide to persist with Flash (and I guess that I am going to be nudged in that direction as I am on an Adobe forum) I'd like to know what is its rival on Mac. I have done a bit of research and am looking at Xcode4, Cocoa and it all seems a bit confusing and I certainly don't want to learn, C, C++ or one of it's derivatives, plus ipads use IOS a rather pared down version of the full Mac OS. If I were a Mac graphic designer and I wanted to design an interactive presentation for the ipad (or Mac for that matter) what professional program would I be using? There you go a very simple question from a very long winded explanation of my problem.

As far as I know, Jobs was putting all his eggs into HTML5, so you probably want to see how he and the rest of the team are coming along with that spec (estimates are between 3 to 10 years for a final spec release). I believe you'll need to learn a number of other things (css, javascript, jQuery, ajax, etc) to make it all work together to mimic what it can of a Flash version.

My background and experience is web/print designer, but I have been researching and studying iPad since the original is out (I got iPad and iPad 2). I work in Windows environment, I actually embrace the iPad situation.
Ok, basically you want to have "interactive presentations including graphics and video content" for client?
The best answer for that at the moment is: HTML5, jQuery/JavaScript, and CSS. I am sure with those 3 can get something like this:

That's actually an app. Obviously native App has some advantages over WebApp. Take a look at how Google tackle the iPad with its webapp. Lots of great example. Google uses a lot of jQuery in a smart way.
Maybe soon Adobe products will adapt and utilize more HTML5 for iPad. Maybe Flash would eventually go to iPad, who knows.
I actually manage to live "without Flash" and be more efficient with presentation. Less bling and splashy interaction, but still manage to give a "new" experience. I would probably ask the client to wait a bit. Study the available interactive magazines (Wired, GQ, Victoria Secret etc) and websites that utilize only HTML5, jQuery, and CSS to get that "Flash" feel.
There are really awesome Flash websites over the last few years, before iPad came along. We have gone almost "too much" with what Flash can do in term of giving interactive and layers and layers of interactive eye candies UI. Maybe it's time to be more efficient. Save the pixels for what really more important.
Anyhow, try a simple hack: use and experiment Splashtop app or similar app that allow mirroring of PC/Mac into the iPad. This way, you could have Flash on your iPad, as long there is a connected PC/Mac via Wi-Fi.
Try also presentation viewer for iPad, from Prezi.
Remember one thing: It does not have to be the iPad. We know iPad is cool, but if other tables (Android tablets) can actually view Flash and the experience is fine, then go for it. My opinion: Flash is not yet for multi-touch experience.
Tablet revolution is still really young, so, it's time to experiment.

How can I animate my sprite to run on scroll and stop when scrolling stops?

I want my illustration of a man to "walk" through my composition as the user scrolls through it.
I have a sprite created and have made it loop. What sort of code do I need to write to get it to move only on scroll and stop off scroll?

How do you animate zooming in on particular items in a list?

Hello,
Does anyone know what the effect would be called (and if Keynote supports it) if you have a numbered list of small text in a slide, and as you click through the slide each line is zoomed? Kind of like the old school OS X dock effect when you hover over each icon, but in this case it would be a list of text. If I can animate some slides in Keynote this way it would be awesome.
Basically, a list in a small font like this:
1.) Line One
2.) Line Two
3.) Line Three
etc.
And as I click on the slide, each line will be zoomed so the audience can see it much better. As I click, the previous line that was zoomed will go back to the small font - so only one line zoomed at a time.

There isn't a preset animation for this, but you can create the effect this way:
place each line of text with a small size in individual text boxes, and position
duplicate the text boxes, increase the size of the text, position on top of the other text, format the boxes with the background colour and add the effect; Build In > Scale

How can I animate scrolling pictures as in Cooliris?

I basically want to re-create the effect of the 3-D wall used by Cooliris in my keynote animation. Does anyone know how I would do this?

Create a new slide and place and size 12 images to form a 4 x 3 grid
duplicate the slide 11 times
create a hyperlink on the first image to link to slide 2, reapeat this for each image
use a build effect on image 1 on slide 2, use the scale effect which will resize the respective image to the center of the screen
repeat this for each of the other slides using a different image for each one

How can I animate colour changes of clips and mattes in fcpx

Can Anyone help me in getting to grips with ficpx.
I want to vary (animate) the colour of titles and mattes over their time periods. Also, i need to correct the variations of colour temperature (castes) which my panasonic camcorder produces sometimes. I notice that there is no animation icon in the inspector panel for colour changes and I am not able to insert animation points on the timeline animation strips above the assets. Any help would be appreciated. Lorenzo F.

Color correction and color masks cannot be animated in FCP. You'd have to do this in Motion or some other app. DaVinci Resolve Lite is free.
