Effect aren't visible in the editor

When I edit a photo on my Power Mac G4 in iPhoto 09, and I try to apply an effect like Sepia, the result isn't immediately visible. Only when I press the done button on the bottom of the screen and return to the library the effect is applied to the photo. This didn't occur in earlier versions and does not occur in iPhoto 09 on my MacBook Pro.
Any ideas?

Well being an IT graduate obviously you wouldn’t understand it.
When the installer finishes it should correct any permissions it changed. Obviously one or more files (required for the missing feature) didn’t get corrected and so iPhoto could not use them.

Date & time aren't visible on the menu it is set to show

had no problem until the last update for maverick
now the date and time portion of the menu bar is just a blank space
I did check to see in the system preferences, the time and date is checked to show on menu bar--
help?

I just realised the clock on the menu not updating and found another user where the solution was to update the PRAM settings. I will try this first although I'm not an experienced mac user. Hope I haven't wasted anyone's time.

Context object not visible in the Expression Editor

I have created a context object and assigned it to the sender interface ( outbound interface) but i couldn't see the created object in the Expression editor.
Can anyone tell me why it is like this? It shows only the technical context objects .

Please try out the following and see if it works:
- Did you set the "Adapter-Specific Message Properties" in the Sender File Communication Channel.You have to select this check box and also select the "File Name" check box(this will be visible once the initially mentioned check box is selected)
- Is the interface to which the context object is assigned an outbound Interface(Sender Interface) in receiver determination? Only then the context object will be visible.

Jdeveloper - GUI not visible in the visual design editor

Actually I'm designing a Java Desktop Application with javax.swing. using JDeveloper 11g Release 1 (Studio Edition Version 11.1.1.3.0, Build JDEVADF_11.1.1.3.PS2_GENERIC_100408.2356.5660), Java Platform 1.6.0_18 and Oracle IDE 11.1.1.3.37.56.60 on Linux.
My question is related to JDevelopers visual design editor. Most of my forms extend javax.swing.JInternalFrame. Those forms are visible within the visual design editor but for some of my forms I had to create a subclass of JInternalFrame named ITMSInternalFrame.

Double click on an item in the Structure Window to see its GUI here" and in the UI - Log it tells me "Unable to instantiate live instance for btnExit; using placeholder object instead."
I've used Google to find an answer and I've read certain tips about it in different forums but non of that used to help me. So please, does anyone of guys around here know what to do to solve this?

I remember GUI subclasses to be an issue in 10.1.3. Not sure this has been resolved. Best suggestion is to file a service request with support and have them looking at a test case

Why aren't my external hard drives visible in the Finder?

I have two external hard drives, both Seagates. I just tried to grab a file from one of them and the dirve isn't visible on the finder. The other is used as my TimeMachine backup and I can open Time Machine. I can't access any files on the other drive by doing a search.
Any suggestions?

I was going to try that, but I decided to try what I call the "clown car" solution (I call it that because it doesn't make any logical sense, but it works)--I restarted and all was fine..

I updated win7 and now I cant see ff. I have reinstalled it 5 times now. It shows it is running in task manager but it is not visible on the desk top.

I installed win7 ultimate and then ff. ff worked fine until I installed win7 service pack 1 and all the other updates it recommended. I click to open ff and nothing happens. I look in task manager and it shows it is running. It is not visible on the screen or in the task bar. I have reinstalled a fresh download of it 5 times. I even tried the beta version but still the same problem. I can use explorer and chrome ok but not ff.

The "System Tray" is located at the very bottom right of your screen and is a list of most/all running applications that will show in this list.
For your SysFader issue, this "may" be the problem:
1 Find the "My Computer" desktop icon and right-click it. A pull-down menu will appear. Select "Properties."
2 Click on the "Advanced" tab. This will load a new page of options.
3 Select the "Visual Effects" tab at the top of the window and deselect "Animate Windows when minimizing and maximizing," "Fade or slide menus into view," "Fade or slide Tool Tips into view" and "Fade out Menu items after checking."
4 Click "OK." This will remove most if not all of the Sysfader effects, at the same time correcting related errors that used to come up during opening a new file or program.

My sound effects aren't working, how do I get them to work again?

On my iPad my sounds effects aren't working and it's on loud. I've been into music but it won't let me change the volume. It's just dark grey and won't let me touch it. Also the volume control on the side when I put it onto loud the sound effect pops up in the grey box but doesn't let me change the volume there either... I've also been through the settings and cannot find anything or anywhere where it will let me change the volume manually or invade it had been turned off by accident. I can't listen to music or hear when it goes off!!!
PLEASE HELP!

Photoshop elements 11 just after installation in the editor the mouse does not even scroll top menu

Very dissapointed so far by this adobe soft, that I just installed a few hours ago. At this point it is worthless and no way I can use it like that . After installation I went directly into the editor and right away I saw that the software was very sluggish with my cursor dragging . After clicking on a top menu (File) the menu bar open (5 sec.)and if I scroll it down I do not see the blue color following my cursor, and if I click at the location in the bar of my cursor it takes a few second before it respond. I am also using the following adobe softwares that works flawlessly : Photoshop CS5.5 extended; Bridge; Camera Raw; Lightroom 4.2. My computer uses an Asus P7P55-E Premium motehrboard with Win 7 pro 64 bits with an intel I 860 2.8 mhz and 8 gigs of RAM. All my adobe softs are 64 bits, except for elements 11. After seeing that, I installed the upgrades without any visible problems. Even after that nothing has improved.
I have to say that I have quite a few softwares installed that all work perfectly such has Topaz bundle; Photomatix pro, etc. In fact of all my softwares this is the only one that is giving me troubles.
I hope somebody has a solution for this extremely poor behavior.

I think you are using Win7, if yes please try the following
Right click on the PSE icon and select Run as administrator
Now try to use it, check if there is any change or not.

After Effects are not visible when exporting in Adobe Premiere Pro CS4

I have made a simple name/title bar for an interview video, using Adobe After Effects. When i import the composition to Premiere Pro it's visible in the preview window BUT; when I render the video in Premiere Pro the After Effects clip is not visible anymore. AND when i export the complete sequence to a .wmv file, the After Effects clip is not visible either.
I'm not that much of an expert in Premiere Pro or After Effetcs, so hopefully this can easily be solved.
What is it that i'm doing wrong?

The names are the same, but the programs are very different... CS4 is 32bit, CS5 and later is completely rewritten to be 64bit

Is there any specific firmat i should export as? I have only tried as a *.AE file (which does not show on the final video) and as a *.MP4 file (whick does not have a transparent background - so i cannot use this)

MS Word documents open but aren't visible

I've suddenly started having a very strange problem in Word and can't find a post describing a similar problem on either the Apple or the Microsoft Word support discussion fora.
I can open documents, either within Word or directly from my Documents folder, but when they open they aren't visible. I know that they are open because they appear on the list of open windows, both on the menu bar and from the dock. Once I've closed the documents down, they also appear on my Recent Items list under the Apple menu. Worse still, the problem has now spread to my MacBook Pro, so I'm wondering if the problem was caused by a recent software or security update.
I've tried everything that I can think of to fix this problem (changing the document view, using the arrange documents command under the Windows menu tab), short of reinstalling Office. I don't think that the documents are corrupted, as I get this problem with every Word document that I open (and they open fine in Pages).
Any suggestions to try and fix this problem would be gratefully received.

I had a problem with windows disappearing in Word and other applications. I found the problem was the System Preferences “Expose/Spaces.”
I tried Spaces after I installed Leopard and decided I wouldn’t use it, so I unchecked the Enable box. But Spaces mysteriously re-enabled itself. It would show the application menu bar but no window, even though the file was listed in the Windows menu.
When it happens, you can try cycling through Spaces by using the Control-arrow or Control-1,2,3 or 4 keys. If you ever tried Spaces and then thought you disabled it, this may be happening to you also.
To completely disable Spaces, go to the System Preferences, click the Expose/Spaces icon, click on the Spaces tab, check the Enable Spaces box, and select the applications in the spaces. Then click on the minus button at the bottom of the window. After removing all the applications, uncheck the Enable box again.
I don’t know if this is the problem with your computer or not. It seems unlikely it is a virus, as others suggested and from what you have replied. Checking the Spaces System Preferences and trying what I did to remove the applications from the Spaces function couldn’t hurt, unless you really want to use Spaces. In that case, try using the Control-arrow or Control-1, 2, or 3 key combinations when it doesn’t show the document window.

Why is the green screen visible on the last frame before the next clip?

Hey guys!
Maybe I'm ******** but i m having trouble here. I have "key-ed" a bunch of clips and successfully removed the green screen from them. But when placed in the timeline, the green screen of the clip reappears for the single frame before a next clip starts.
I've re-rendered and chopped ends off but the green screen keeps appearing in the last frame of any keyed clip that is about to cut to a different clip.
Where am i going wrong?

Hey! I tried both suggestions but even the self contained quicktime file has the green screen frames popping up.
I just dont get it, it's infuriating!
I used "chroma keyer" effect on the clip, only enable "key on saturation", the green screen disappears, I place clip on V2 and image on V1. Image is then visible where the green screen was. All is well until the last frame before a next clip because on that ast frame the green screen appears again. Where am I going wrong? Please help!

Overlay visible in Menu Editor, not in Simulate

Using DVD Studio Pro 4.03, I've built a menu with a .m2v background and a .psd overlay for my buttons. The menu appears correct in the Menu Editor ... both the .m2v background and the .psd overlay are visible. However when I try to Simulate the menu to check functionality, the overlay isn't visible ... if I click where they should by, the menu works as expected.
I tried doing a Build with the same results ... the overlay isn't visible.
I'm baffled. Any thoughts of something I'm missing?

I've tried .TIF and .PCT but both behaved exactly as the .PSD file. After selecting each as the overlay file, they were visible in the Menu Editor but disappeared when I go to the Simulate Menu.
