Effective resolution 43dpi - how to increase?
I have a 1800x700mm banner for a market stall. I am using a photo across the full banner. The printer has asked for 72dpi minimum, preferably 100dpi or 150dpi.
The photo I am using was taken as RAW. When opened in Photoshop, saved as a JPEG and then placed into the layout the effective resolution is 43dpi.
Is there anything I can do to get the resolution up to the 72-100dpi area? Could I simply resample it? I realise that won't make it look incredibly sharp but I just want to minimise the amount of pixellation on the result.
I was then planning on exporting to PDF with no compression at all.
For some reason you get a better large image than just upping the resolution in the original file. It's not perfect, but it's an option when you have to work with what you've got.
I can't see any visual evidence of that, and it's hard to believe Adobe would allow better upsampling with a transform over the resize dialog. Here's the same checkerboard pattern resampled and transformed to 400%:

Qosmio X500 - How to increase the screen resolution?
Hi,
Does anybody know how to increase the screen resolution? My qosmio X500 is 1920 x 1080 and I want to raise it to 1920 x 1200.
Thank you/RedHey
1) I think the screen brightness is about 180 nits for this qosmio model. If I change the graphics card, can I increase the brightness to 300 NITS levels? If yes, which card do you suggest? If not, how can I achieve this?
2) When I view the screen in 100 % magnitude, then the texts are too small to read. But then when I view the screen in 125 % or higher, then the texts go blurry. Is there a way to avoid this? -
How do I modify an Illy .eps to get rid of IDs 'effective resolution' preflight error?
Hi there
We are running CS5.5 here, and have had an Illustrator .eps file supplied to us which is causing problems in InDesign, bring up the 'Effective resolution' error in the custom preflight (which we have set to 300pdi min.), and ID reports an effective resolution of 250dpi. The image is not scaled in ID – it's 100%. We get this a lot, and would like to totally stamp this out and find out what is going on here.
The Illustrator file has no raster images in it, either embedded or linked. There are raster effects like drop shadow and inner glow.
I opened the illy eps, selected all, and went to Effect>Document Raster Settings, and changed the resolution from 'High (300ppi)' to 'Other', and set it at 1200ppi. I also went to Edit>Transparency Flattener Presets, and made a copy of the 'High' setting, and changed the 'Gradient and Mesh' resolution to also 1200dpi. Complete overkill. I saved the .eps (and tried 'save as' .eps, ensuring again that the correct transparency setting was used).
However, the resulting images STILL displayed the pre-flight error in inDesign.
What am I missing? HELP!!Just did a test on this, and the Illustrator (for some reason) changed this in the .eps
To this in the .ai.
Can't use that. Gotta go with .eps.
I tried selecting all, and going to 'Object>Flatten transparency', but it just made the .eps look like the .ai. And the problem still persisted anyway...
Is it safe just to ignore this ID warning? is it going to bounce back from the printers if I dont resolve it? -
How to increase the speed of Zoom on TIFF image
Hi everyone,
i m doing zooming operation on tiff image.
when i applied zoom in operation on image which have properties
Bit per sample =1
Image Length = 2200 Pixel
Image Width = 1700 Pixel
Resolution(x) = 200 dpi
Resolution(y) = 200 dpi
then it require 2 sec.
then i apply the same code with tiff image which have properties like,
Bit per sample =1
Image Length = 3300 Pixel
Image Width = 2500 Pixel
Resolution(x) = 300 dpi
Resolution(y) = 300 dpi
then it require 9 to 10 sec.
my code is:

How to increase the size of piechart in ssrs?
Hi how to increase the size of piechart in my design mode its showing very large one, when running/preview mode its displaying very small, i have total 10 values to dispaly in the legend series values,So here i have set the visibulity option to out side ,
so if the pie chart is dispalying small ,the values of the legend will come in one place and ,so can you suggest me how to increase the size of my chart and how would i show my legend values separatly without closing one by one.
Can some one please help me out for this..Hi Ychinnari,
According to your description that you want increase the size of pie chart in the design mode to make all the ten values in the legend series to display, you have do some setting but the pie chart still display very small and not display some of the
values, right?
I have tested on my local environment and found that the display of the chart legend value can be effect by many factor: the size of the chart, chart area position and chart legend position.
Details steps below for your reference about how to set the properties to make all the legend values display correctly:
Select the Chart properties and expand the size and increase the values for the width and the height, then preview to see if all the legend values are display.
If this do little help, the problem due to the chart area position and chart legend position need to reset too.
Select the chart area properties and expand the CustomPosition under the Position, choose the Enabled to true and reset the Width, height of the pie chart.
Reset this properties to make the chart area more Narrow, thus we can set the Legend area more wider.
Select the chart Legend properties and expand the CustomPosition under the Position, choose the Enabled to true to reset the Width, height of the chart Legend
Reset this properties to make the Legend area more bigger (wider and higher) thus it will display more values in the Legend area.
If your problem still exists, please feel free to ask.

How to increase the size of sort_area_size
How to increase the size of sort_area_size and what size should be according to the PROD database

Hi,
Many Thanks Charles
Oracle does not recommend using the SORT_AREA_SIZE parameter unless the instance is configured with the shared server option. Oracle recommends that you enable automatic sizing of SQL working areas by setting PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET instead. SORT_AREA_SIZE is retained for backward compatibility."
--How can i know the instance is configured with the shared server option or not? This might be a tough question to answer. A shared server configuration may be enabled, but the clients may still connect using dedicated sessions, in which case PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET would still apply.
From
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/dynviews_2088.htm
V$SESSION includes a column named SERVER which will contain one of the following for each of the sessions: DEDICATED, SHARED, PSEUDO, or NONE. As a quick check, you could query V$SESSION to see if any sessions are connected using a shared server connection.
From:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14231/manproc.htm
There are several parameters which are used to configure shared server support, as well as several views to monitor shared server.
As Robert mentioned, when the WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY is set to AUTO, the SORT_AREA_SIZE setting is not used, unless a shared server configuration is in use.
--What default value is WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY and SORT_AREA_SIZE ?From:
http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/B19306_01/server.102/b14237/initparams157.htm
"Setting PGA_AGGREGATE_TARGET to a nonzero value has the effect of automatically setting the WORKAREA_SIZE_POLICY parameter to AUTO. This means that SQL working areas used by memory-intensive SQL operators (such as sort, group-by, hash-join, bitmap merge, and bitmap create) will be automatically sized. A nonzero value for this parameter is the default since, unless you specify otherwise, Oracle sets it to 20% of the SGA or 10 MB, whichever is greater."
Actually I am facing performence issue since long time till now i did not get the solution even i have raised SRs but i could not. When the issue occur system seems hang.what i monitored whenever hdisk0 and hdisk1 use 100% the issue occur.
Regards,
SajidWhen you say that you have had a performance issue for a long time, is it a performance problem faced by a single SQL statement, a single user, a single application, or everything on the server? If you are able to identify a single user, or SQL statement that is experiencing poor performance, I suggest starting with a 10046 trace at level 8 (wait events) or level 12 (wait events and bind variables) to determine why the execution appears to be slow. If you have not yet determined a specific user or SQL statement that is experiencing performance problems, you might start with either a Statspack Report or an AWR Report (AWR requires a separate license).
If you believe that temp tablespace usage may be a contributing factor to the performance problem, you may want to periodically run this query, which will indicate currently in use temp tablespace usage:
{code}
SELECT /*+ ORDERED */
TU.USERNAME,
S.SID,
S.SERIAL#,
S.SQL_ID,
S.SQL_ADDRESS,
TU.SEGTYPE,
TU.EXTENTS,
TU.BLOCKS,
SQL.SQL_TEXT
FROM
V$TEMPSEG_USAGE TU,
V$SESSION S,
V$SQL SQL
WHERE
TU.SESSION_ADDR=S.SADDR
AND TU.SESSION_NUM=S.SERIAL#
AND S.SQL_ID=SQL.SQL_ID
AND S.SQL_ADDRESS=SQL.ADDRESS;
{code}
The SID and SERIAL# returned by the above could then be used to enable a 10046 trace for a session. The SQL_ID (and CHILD_NUMBER from V$SESSION in recent releases) could be used with DBMS_XPLAN.DISPLAY_CURSOR to return the execution plan for the SQL statement.
You could also take a look in V$SQL_WORKAREA_ACTIVE to determine which, if any, SQL statement are resulting in single-pass, or multi-pass executions, which both access the temp tablespace.

How to increase the number of data Business Object can pull for a report?
Hi,
I would like to ask around how to increase the number of data Business Object can pull for a report. I have a report which pulls data depending on the date range (ex. From 01/01/2007 - 01/10/2007). But, when the data that is pulled exceeds 5000, the report fails. Is there anyway to increase the number of data that BO can pull?
ThanksBobby,
to my knowledge we can't change that. Let me explain this, we have setting in the source system for DS default Data Transfer. there we will assign the processes. if you want to assign 4 you need to change the setting in the source system. For flat files we can change in BW System. We can maintain the setting in the Infopackage level(wht we are assigned in the Source System), but we can't change the process.
in order to check the setting in source system SBIW--> General Settings --> Control Parameters for Data Transfer.
we need to change here, this will effect to all the Data Sources. Before making changes check with your basis.
All the best.

How to increase the line items against the std no of line items in MIGO
hi,
I have PO with more than 100 line items
During GR system is showing the error message as
Maximum number of items F1 reached
What is the standard no of line items in MIGO
And how to increase the line items
Is there any notes to apply
plz give sutable solution
K.RaghuramDo you get message F5727 "Maximum number of items in FI reached"? reason is that in FI the posting line has a three-digit line item number (BSEG-BUZEI).
SAP's note 117708 provides a modification. I am pasting solution below.
Via the summarization you can post documents with more than 999 items in
FI.
The modification required for this is small, in addition you have to
change 2 tables. The modification is carried out in FI not in invoice
verification.
To activate document summarization in FI proceed as follows:
- The changes are described in Note 36353 and for the
modification in Note 77161. You may also have to apply Note
67640 so that the document summarization affects inventory
management.
An advice for the notes:
36353: Solution point 3: Field name WERKS
77161: Solution point 2: Maintain table TTYPV with Transaction
SE16
- this has the following effects; you can no longer clear the
GR/IR clearing account on purchase order item level (but only
on purchase order level) and you can only display the FI data
summarized (also see Note 36353) -
How to Increase textarea size in HTML code in WM05
Hi All,

Here I increased the number of cols to 50, and checked in PDA(WM2005). There was no change in width of the textarea. It was similar with as it was with cols=30.
But I can see this effect in my LAPTOP.
Can any body please tell me how to increase the textarea in Pocket PC.

How to increase image size?
I am trying to put a collection of images onto a photo library and I need the image to be higher than 24mb. how do I increase the size of my images?
Do you really need to increase the file size and not the resolution (in pixelsize)? Increasing the file size will not increase the resolution or quality of your image. If you want to change the file size of an image, export it and pick one of the export presets that generate a high resolution image, for example "Tiff, original size, 16bit"" will waste a lot of disk storage. If that is still not large enough, edit the preset -duplicate it and set the size to " xx bx yyy inches"; then pick a very high dpi value, for example 1000dpi.
But if you meant: high pixelsize - pick an export preset with "fits within ... pixels"

How to increase the font size in the safari tool bar
Hello,
I am trying to set-up Yosemite for my mom who is a senior. The toolbar and address bar for safari seem to be quite small. Does anyone know how to increase the font size in the tool bar and address bar? I already figured out to make the font size bigger on a webpage which is nice but the rest of the interface, though pleasing to look at, is quite miniscule.
Hope someone can help.I too would like an easier way to do it. The only way that I have found (& it works for all applications, desktops Document & Download files) is to decrease the size of your Screen display from 2560 by 1440 ( this is your "Default for display") to 1920 by 1080. This is accomplished by going to "Accessibility Preferences" in your menu bar or through Systems Preferences and choosing the DISPLAY icon, then unchecking the "Default for Display" Setting and then check "Scaled".
Your screen resolutions will then appear in the drop down box & you can choose a smaller display (e.g. 1920 x 1440), then all print will appear larger on the screen.
If anyone knows a slicker way, I 'm all ears (actually "eyes" would be more appropriate.
I hope this helps you.

Small icons in menus-how to increase size
Hello,
When I'm in Photoshop cs4 on my snow leopard, my icons are tiny when I'm in a menu. For instance, in my layers menu, the icons (like new layer, or trashcan) are about 1/8" tall. It makes it very difficult to accurately press on it. Does anyone know how to increase the size of these?
Thank you.Why does everyone say change the monitor resolution? It's meant to work at it's native resolution. In my case a 27" Mac that what I purchased mine for, large screen great resolution and colour. Unfortunately this results in tiny tool bars. There a number of posts regarding small icons making it hard to see them. I suffer from eye strain after a short period due to the small icon size and yes I wear glasses and have my eyes tested regularly.
I have ready many well meaning replies from Adobe but no fixes to far. So much so that the new Mac sits mainly turned off and I resort to the old laptop instead. -
Resizing of log_buffer in oracle, how to increase it?
Please can one tell me how to increase log_buffer in oracle please. I am doing import and found it is running long.. looks like it is related to log_buffer issue.. i want to increase.. please tell me how to increase log_buffer.
Oracle 10g and OS is SunOSHi,
To check if you are using spfile run:
SQL> SHOW PARAMETER spfileif return null you are using pfile if return a filename you are using spfile.
If using spfile use the alter system command in the previous posts.
If using pfile, change the parameter log_buffer direct in the ini.ora .
In both cases you need to bounce the instance to take effect.
I recommend you to take a look in this link also:

Effective Resolution and INDD display settings
Hi Guys,
I recently have been getting some memory issues and issues exporting etc and wanted to know if my effective res is way above 300 thats causing the issues.
now...
INDD shows Typical Display @ 72ppi correct?
so would an image with 300 actual and say 1500 effective (20% of original size) try to display on Typical at 360pp
(1500/300)x72 = 360 (the image is 5x smaller than 100% resolution so is the preview 5 x 72ppi - 360ppi?)
is it making the image 72ppi @100% then scaling it down 5x to preview or is it scaling it down then doing the 72ppi preview conversion?
because images with a high effective preview alot clearer than images with 300 effective
and with over 140 images in my catalogue, would this extra processing be the cause of my errors on export and just chuggy previewing in typical mode?
so to simplify it a little
is this how the previews work?
300 and 1500 @ High Quality
72 and 360 @ Typical Display
or is it like this
300 and 1500 @ High Quality
72 @ Typical Display
with the bold numbers being the resolution that indesign will displayDammitRAWR wrote:
Where can i turn off resample in indesign to test this out?
or do you mean the resample when I scale down the image in photoshop?
and is the general concensus that placing images and scaling them down is just bad design practice?
all images should be placed as near to the final output size as possible?
Resampling takes place in Photoshop. ID only scales, which is why you see the effective resolution.
In photoshop you can use the same pixels to create a really large image (physical dimensions) at 72 ppi, or a smaller phsyical dimension at a higher resolutuion. If you save at 72 ppi, the preview ID sees is essentially the same size as the image itself, while if you save at 1200 ppi the preview will be greatly downsampled (and will look like it in typical preview mode in ID).
As far as scaling in ID, my feelings are that scaling is OK when the reult brings you into the target range for your desired effective resolution (i.e. there is not a big problem enlarging a 1200 ppi image to get a 300 ppi effective resolution, or reducing a 100 ppi image to get 300 ppi effective) though a lot of people will tell you it's better do do the scaling in Photoshop (and I'm generally in that camp for high-end work) so you can fix the sharpening, etc. Ideally your images will be on your page within plus-or-minus 10% of the target effective ppi, but it would be better to be a little low than to upsample in Photoshop. Downsampling, whether in Photoshop or in ID at output will always cause some loss of fine details, and if the effective res is too high you WILL be downsampling at output, so nothing is gained by usingf images that are too large, and your performance will suffer.
If your desired resolution is 300 ppi and your effective resolution is 4500 ppi, you really should be resizing in Photoshop.
